Religion / Re: The Atheists Costly Error: Assumption That Everything REAL Must Be TANGIBLE by JessicaRabbit(f): 11:59am
TenQ:

It is simple logic ma.
When we see an interdependent assembly of systems having a unified function, we thing that it was from an INTELLIGENT Mind.

Even something as small as a Pen cannot be other than by an intelligent mind irrespective of how we argue that it somehow evolved from the earth's basic elements.

I look with one eye at anyone who thinks that complex interdependent assembly of systems having a unified function, is not a proof of an intelligent mind.

The simplicity of your logic is almost charming, but unfortunately, it's still so very misguided. It also strikes me as intellectual laziness because your argument amounts to nothing beyond guesswork, if you're really being honest to yourself. We're still figuring out how the natural world works, and that's fine. But the fact that you think you can just hastily fill in the gaps with some spurious theory of a divine maker that you pulled out of your ass doesn't inspire a curious mind. It's just straight up complacency and resigned speculation on your part. And attributing human-like qualities (intelligence, mind) to an unknown entity is a fallacy of reification. We can't assume that the natural world operates according to human logic or design principles. Your argument from "interdependent assembly of systems" is a form of the "watchmaker analogy," which has been thoroughly debunked. Natural processes can give rise to complex systems through self-organization and evolution, as I mentioned earlier, or haven't you considered the possibility that the natural world operates according to its own principles and laws, without the need for a designer? It doesn't necessarily have to be intelligence vs unintelligence. That's a false dichotomy. And if you really think that everyone believes that the universe was created by an intelligent mind, then that's just a reflection of your own biases. It's not a logical conclusion. It's a classic case of "argumentum ad populum" -- assuming that because many people believe something, it must be true.

Abiogenesis may explain synthesis of basic Amino Acids but it doesn't explain the CODE written in the assembly called DNA.

Example:
Having infinite times to juggle several sets all the Alphanumeric English characters, can the resulting string of letters
1. Form a sentence like "The rain in Spain Falls mainly in the Plain"
2. How you you think the Receptor even understood "this English" and knows how to Read?

Do you concur that : The DNA code is NOTHING( random noise) if the Receptor cannot decode the meaning (instructions and data) of the code!

This is ridiculous. The synthesis of amino acids is relatively unimpressive if you juxtapose it to the real magic which happens when these building blocks start interacting, self-organizing, and evolving into more complex structures. Yes, the DNA code is a highly specific and organized sequence that contains instructions for life, but at the end of the day, it is still merely a product of these interactions -- a natural consequence of chemical and physical processes, so I'm afraid I can't share your curious fascination with it. Using letters and numbers to talk about all the possible combinations is far from a perfect proposition. Those jumbled letters might not form a sentence like "The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain," but that's because it's a human language with set rules. DNA is a molecule that's been around for billions of years, specifically designed to store and pass on genetic information -- so your example doesn't even come close. As for the "receptor" you referred to, it is simply the cellular machinery that has co-evolved with DNA. It's a biochemical system that recognizes and interprets the chemical structure of nucleotides, the building blocks of DNA. There's no conscious understanding of English or any language involved, it's all based on chemistry.

You will face the reality by force. This is not random extremist. This is the view of over 70% of Israelis. This shows you are not informed. They believe God gave them Gaza too.

As for Oct 7, sorry, I am not interested in any freaking Oct 7. History didn't start on Oct 7, 2023. It started on Oct 7 1882 and several media outlets have already conducted investigation as to what happened on Oct 7 2023. Majority of the 1200 victims were killed by IDF, do your research.

Yes, resistance performed military raid there but do your research and stop listening to the mainstream media. They lied about 40 beheaded babies. They lied about mass ræpe and you still believe them?. Seriously, you Africans deserved to be recolonized with hard labor. You didn't learn anything after over 400 years of slavery.

And I repeat, the state of Israel is illegal. UN was wrong. Eventually, these criminals who called themselves Israelis will eventually leave and return to Europe. If you love them so much, talk to your govt to take Israelis and give them citizenship.

So the view in the pictures above was not isolated one. It is the believe of majority of Israelis. They believe they are God chosen people and they are better than others. So I guess they are better than you too. If Israel is legitimate why do many Israelis have dual citizenship?. They have dual citizenship in case Israel is no longer livable they can flee to their countries of origin.

You can continue to lick their butthole.

Again, day calm down.

Fact is fact. Opinions doesn't change it.

There are many who believe the UN did the right thing by partioning Mandatory Palestine, likewise many others, like you, who believe it was wrong.

It all doesn't change the fact the the UN partitioned it. This gives Israel legitimacy regardless of your opinion.

Yes, I've said over and over that Madatory Palestine is unarguably the Israelis historic homeland.

Of course many Israelis believe it as their God given land. It doesn't mean I support them or that they are right. I never said it.
It is just one of your attempt to divert what the whole point was about.

Now, whether or not many Israel believe Gaza belongs to them, the fact is that Israel pulled out in 2005 and gave it back to the Palestinians.

What you said about Israel being responsible for MAJORITY of Oct 7th Israel is not only wrong, but also dishonest. Stop lying. Even Hamas itself took pride in the casualties it was able to inflict on Israel. You saying "military raids" is very dishonest.

There could've been untrue things the Israelis reported on Oct 7th.

It doesn't change the fact that Hamas invaded enmasse Israel without warning, attacked, killed, wounded and captured thousands of Israelis.

Your talks about the cause of many Israel having second citizenship is very funny and even borderline delusional. Well, you can think what you want.
Religion / Re: The Atheists Costly Error: Assumption That Everything REAL Must Be TANGIBLE by JessicaRabbit(f): 11:53am
Apologies for the long wait. If I hadn't kept this tab open, I might have completely forgotten this thread.

TenQ:

You have a way of reading unintended meanings into simply stated facts.
I said:
Our Ignorance of the Tangibility of a Reality has nothing to do with its existence.
That is:
An Object's reality or tangibility is NOT determined by our knowledge of it.

This is just a simply stated fact and it is NOT saying that Things are REAL because we are in ignorance of it. I have not also inferred that "our understanding of it is irrelevant to its nature."

Please understand this: science doesn't deal with absolute, unknowable realities. It deals with EVIDENCE, with observations that help us understand the universe, and right now the evidence points towards a universe that functions perfectly well without a divine creator. So even if your statements may be technically true in a philosophical sense, they still don't come close to addressing the specific issue of a god's actual existence.

I laugh in Urhobo Language:
Atheists usually challenge Christians with the phrases such as
"Show us EVIDENCE......!"
or
"Extraordinary Claim require Extraordinary Evidence!"

I'm sorry, but demanding evidence for extraordinary claims isn't some atheist conspiracy, it's just basic logic.

All I am doing is to FORCE Atheists to say the kind of evidence that will be an objective proof to them.
Hence, I want Atheists to tell me
1. Exactly what they consider as REAL (Existence)
2. And the Question "Is every Existence Tangible?"
3. What is their Definition of Tangible.

"Force Atheists"? Now, I'm curious. Did you just open this thread to get people to indulge in your puerile "gotcha!" game, or do you have intentions of making honest inquiry? Some terms you are citing here are mostly irrelevant. Take "tangibility" for example. We deal with things like dark matter and radio waves, both very real but not exactly cuddle-material. Tangible is for textures. I'd rather focus on verifiable evidence. If you told me you could fly, I wouldn't demand a specific type of proof, I'd just ask you to, well, fly. Same principle applies here. Show me something mind-bending, universe-altering, and then maybe we can talk about "objective proof."

Without a CONCRETE and OBJECTIVELY Defined testable definition of a word like Tangible , every discussion will miss the Road.

This is why it seems I am "all too eager to pin all atheists down with definitions" LOL!

Since you want to play "define everything" so badly, then I guess we both need to define "concrete" and "objectively" too. Shouldn't be fuzzy at all, right?

But Mars is presently un-occupied by any intelligent life: would we conclude that "the device evolved form the Martian earth"?
I think it would be reasonable to conclude that it was brought to Mars by some intelligent creatures

Are we assuming Martians are nature's engineers now? Because unless this device builds furniture and writes haiku, I think "evolved" might be a bit of a stretch.

I was not defining consciousness. I was only stating that the minimum capabilities an Existence must have before it can be deemed as conscious. If you check, I also noted that these criteria are circular: Like saying for an object to be conscious, it must have some minimum level of consciousness.

It is easy to test each of the postulates!

Let's say we're exploring the building blocks of consciousness. I posit that testing your postulates might be easier said than done. How do we objectively measure a subjective experience like "feeling the environment"? And even if we could, wouldn't that just be measuring the physical processes behind it?

All I am saying is that Jessica.Rabbit cannot prove that I did not dream of eating Dinner with both Donald Trump and Joe Biden. QED!
Why?
It is my subjective EXPERIENCE and not yours.

Of course, only me can know is my report is TRUE or FALSE!

You may not believe me, but you have no way of objectively proving that my dream wasn't a true statement.

Subjective experiences like these dreams can be analyzed through a more objective lens. They could actually tell us something about you, your interests, and maybe even your anxieties. But to claim they represent some absolute truth, well, that's where things get a little dicey.

Therefore, I made it practical by asking IF you have any real EXAMPLE of an infinite regress of cause and effect.

You did not confirm my statement that:
The Law of Entropy forbids infinite Regress of Cause and Effect especially if you note that the Universe has a beginning at about 13.8 Billion years ago AND the Universe will not exist forever in a situation called "heat death" where entropy of the Universe will be maximum.

Better still, if the Entropy of the Universe is increasing, it proves that Infinite regress of cause and effect is impossible.

You should be careful not to conflate thermodynamic entropy with casual chains. Increase in entropy only signifies a growing uniformity in energy distribution throughout time. It doesn't forbid infinite regress -- a completely philosophical (not physical) concept -- at all. Physics tells us about the behavior of the universe, but it doesn't dictate the rules of logic or metaphysics. The universe having a beginning doesn't inherently negate the possibility of an infinite regress in a logical sense; it just means our universe had a starting point in its current form. So, while the heat death might put a damper on future cosmic shenanigans, it doesn't logically preclude an infinite regress. It's like saying because the party ends at midnight, there couldn't have been an infinite number of songs on the playlist. The playlist's potential infinity isn't limited by the party's curfew.

Theories are explanations we give for the observable effects we see. I do not condemn it:. I am just saying that a theory is falsifiable with another better theory or law.

You're still dancing around the maypole of semantics here. The beauty of scientific theories is precisely their falsifiability. It's what makes science so dynamic and self-correcting. Unlike dogma, science welcomes challenges and revisions. It thrives on them. However, a theory being falsifiable doesn't make it flimsy or unreliable. It makes it robust. It's like building a bridge that can withstand earthquakes: it's designed to adapt and survive new data, not crumble at the first tremor of doubt. I should probably remind you as well that laws and theories in science play different roles. Laws describe the patterns we observe; theories explain why those patterns exist. Newton's law of universal gravitation tells us that objects attract with a force directly proportional to their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers. But it was Einstein's theory of general relativity that explained the "why" by describing gravity as the warping of spacetime. So, when you simply say a theory is an explanation for observable effects, you might be selling it short. It's the best explanation we have that fits all the current evidence. And if a new theory comes along that explains the evidence better, then huzzah! Science marches on, and our understanding deepens.

What I was saying in other words is: Even if no humans existed in the world, 1+3 will still be 4.
Mathematics exist regardless of whether we know it or not.

Without a conscious entity to perform the act of counting, does 1, 3 or 4 have any actual meaning? These are not just symbols but concepts that require a mind to define their relationships. In a universe devoid of consciousness, there would be no 1 apple plus 3 apples equals 4 apples because there would be no concept of "apple", let alone 1 or 4. To say that mathematics exists independently of us is to imbue these abstract concepts with a sort of mystical autonomy they simply do not possess.

Does LOGIC require humans to be TRUE?
This is the question.

Of course not! However, even the sturdiest instruction manual needs a machine to operate on. That's my point. Stop making me repeat myself please.

It has everything to do with it ma.
If the Universe will come to an End and entropy becomes maximum: will cause an effect still take place?
Of course the answer is NO!

Wrong. The law of entropy doesn't negate the concept of infinite regress; it merely describes the behavior of energy in a closed system. If we reach maximum entropy, we're talking about a state of equilibrium, not the cessation of all processes.

Of cause, I am not comparing humans and fishes: I am just stating that even animals understand (at their level cause and effect)

Fair enough. So, tell me, does your toaster understand cause and effect when it pops after sufficiently browning your bread? Or is it just divinely ordained toast?

I believe we've trashed this out!

Where? As far as I can tell, you're only retreating to the comfort of "...we've trashed this out!", which is pretty much the universal euphemism for "I've run out of arguments and logic, but I still want to sound profound!" in debates. But if you insist, then we can just agree to disagree, and I'll let the universe's weirdness and non-conformist nature have the final say.

My point is that Atoms and Molecule is the building blocks of any cell: at what point did they acquire data nad instructions.

They don't hold coding bootcamps for atoms, my dear. Their properties are fundamental, not programmed.

And what is your objective proof of this?

Why don't we start with the fact that the universe was around for about 9 billion years before Earth even formed, and humans only popped up in the last minute of the cosmic day. If we were the main event of the entire program, it seems the universe had quite a lot of time to kill, doesn't it? To be honest, while scientists are still working out the kinks in the theory that the universe creates itself, I personally think it's a far more plausible scenario than thinking a cosmic extraterrestrial with a penchant for humanoids decided to sprinkle a little stardust here and not on the other billion galaxies. talk about playing favorites.

Exactly like someone saying emphatically
"The computer chip and all the hardware are products of the earth and therefore, it requires no intelligent being (computer engineers and programmers) to make it work"

LOL!

This comparison would only hold water if the computer chip had evolved from a primordial soup of silicon, and the hardware had assembled itself through natural selection. Unfortunately for you, that's not how computer chips are made.

You have just stated clearly that an INTELLIGENT mind is behind the functions of the computer up to the Windows 10.

Perhaps. But it does nothing for your argument.

I mentioned this the other day. This part here is extremely important. Prospective investors in the rental space must read it over and over again till it sinks in.

Once you allow drivers use any mechanic of their choice, you're asking for yourself to be scammed.

If you use any mechanic other than mine for something as simple as changing oil filter, forget about telling me talk more of asking me for the money.

There's also this tendency by some drivers to overplay every issue. While some issues require urgent attention, some do not affect the way the vehicle drives and will not cause any serious harm.

Example is hub noise. Don't come and tell me hub is making noise and you have taken it to one mechanic in Rumuokoro to change. You're on your own.

Love ur contributions sir, and what if the applicant is younger and chose to go to a college cause of its COA? I'd appreciate ur response sir

Hey 🤠

@Danieljobb. I know you are a troll who was sent from the cabal's camp but i'm still gonna lecture all of you. Go n pick a pen and a sheet of paper my friend.

1. People who spread rumor that going to a community college is not good to justify a student visa are ignorant and should keep the misinformation to themselves.

2. The only REQUIREMENTS for an International Student on a Student VISA is that you must have an admission to a SEVP approved school which 95% of USA community colleges falls under. It could be anything from clown college to a 4 year college. Many Indian and Asian students after graduating from high-school arrived USA just to learn (American) English at an ESL school. Is ESL schools better than a community college ?

3. One of the top reasons for denial of a visa is insufficient finances and inability to prove home-ties. IN FACT, choosing a community college shows that you have considered the matter carefully and chosen to start with a less expensive option.

4. Even for extremely wealthy families from Africa, choosing a community college makes a lot of sense (like immersion study centre ) : the student can get used to living in the USA and to USA teaching methods ( How many of African high school graduates, even University
graduates can perfectly write down a direct classroom- speech from lecturers and Professors from major American Universities who are typical American teachers ?).

4. I use Indians and Chinese students as my case studies (they send highest percentage of students to the USA) and if your reason of chosing a community college in lieu of an American University is COA then you have a reasonable reason.

5. If the applicant is younger then attending a community college in USA as a training ground to familiarise with American style of teachings and to adapt to lecturer's accents are reasonable points to the consular.

6. Even Nigerian teenagers still thinks they are in secondary school by their lifestyles on Nigerian University campuses, Not to talk of the pressure and over-excitement a 17/18/19 to 20 yr olds Nigerian students would encounter on American University campuses.

7. I am not placing community colleges above USA Universities but dont rule it out! Don't have the knowledege more than the American government who gave SEVP gestures to Community colleges.

Best Wishes 🙏

Nairaland / General / Self-care Tips For Navigating Grief And Finding Peace by thelossart: 11:13am
Navigating grief can be really tough. The good news is there are ways to take care of yourself and find some peace. First, it's important to be kind to yourself and let yourself feel whatever emotions you're going through without judging yourself. It's normal to feel sad, angry, lonely, confused, in need of alone time and many other emotions. Find things that help you feel better, like writing your feelings down, going for a walk, or spending time in nature. Taking care of your body is also important, so try to eat healthy food, get enough sleep, and drink plenty of water. It can also be helpful to talk to people who understand what you're going through, like friends, family, or members of a grief support workshop or group. And if you need more help, don't hesitate to reach out to certified Creative Grief Coach Julie Maltby. Remember, it's okay to take your time to heal, and you don't have to go through it alone.

Lol, Netflix movies have a reputation to be useless 95% of the time. It's only in TV series they measure up to the others.
Although, with a new executive in the film division things looks to change.
Seems this one just slipped through the door and it was already green lit before the commitment to stop making garbage flicks.

Hoping the recent resolve, leads to better quality projects, if for anything, to justify the ridiculous spiral increase in sub prices they have been on lately.

I believe you've forgotten who ESR really is.

Naaahh, you've forgotten. Nothing wey you wan tell me grin

Lemme remind you that ESR initially played as our number 10(Am) in the 2020/21 season. He started his first EPL match under Arteta in the 3-1 over Chelsea on boxing Day. We were 16th that period as we were playing one of the most boring football. ESR came and we started winning games back to back because we finally got our Am. We not only beat Chelsea 3-1, we whitewashed westbrom 5-0 the very next match. First time we'll be scoring 3+ goals consecutively and playing fluid football and winning matches b2b in MONTHS.
ESR ensured we were on an upward move till Odegaard was loaned at the end of that Loan window where we moved from 16th to 8th position by season's end. His telepathy and Understanding with Saka was perfect. In fact he was the first that brought this "understanding" with Saka before anything like Odegaard-Saka telepathy was even known in arsenal. There was pictures flying around then (attached below)

I remember having argument with Spy when he said the reason we were playing boring football was because of lack of Am that's why we're playing that stupid 343 and that if we get an Am everything go set. I disagreed saying it was because Arteta wasn't good enough reason why we were playing this nonsense. ESR practically and literally made arsenal playing the 4231 we're enjoying today which obviously improved to 433. I later gave kudos to Spy for getting it right tongue

The very next season, because of Martinelli injury, he stood in for him and played very well that we barely missed Martinelli. He was unarguably our top scorer (even without penalties). The only reason Saka topped him was because Martinelli became fit by early December which made him go back to the bench. And even at that with penalties included, Saka just surpassed him with 1goal (11 to 10).

There's a reason he's called Croydon De bruyne by arsenal fans and it's not just because they're almost same complexion.

I never see wetin Viera don do for this arsenal and even his skillset I never too see am (I believe he'll gel in a more counter attacking team sef) . He can't even play wing effectively, something ESR did excellently. And even that Midfield, most times he's shown he's limited
But make I dey watch.

But omorr, no talk this thing about ESR again biko. Ejoor

He's worth the hype.

Na that injury wey Blueray even show me make me calm down for this ESR matter

I knew all these before I said what I said. Don't make it seems I'm rating one above the other or that I dislike ESR. But I tell you if it comes to who Arteta wants to retain currently between both, he will choose Vieira.

I really don't want to compare both because it will seem I'm undermining ESR.

Another Netflix Bomba 💣. I have to ask, does any other streaming platform produce this much bottom barrel flicks than actual good ones, than these lot? I can't remember them putting out any actually good movies this year.

I totally rate their commitment to green lit just about any project that comes through thier doors tho, garbage and whatnot 👍🏿

You should know better nothing like being childish base on non oil economy Akwa-Ibom and Imo doesn't come close to Anambra there are more business activities and opportunities in Anambra when you join both states together, Akwa-Ibom and Imo are formal economy, fact that FG and state government benefiting from the oil and gas proceed, than the citizens unlike informal economy in Anambra state which benefits the citizens more than the government. Anambra is oil producing state but still ranked very low when compare with Imo and Akwa-Ibom.

Nah I don't think so, this stat was indicated around 2022 Q4 before gas exploration coys rolled out their products, exception of the modular refinery, so in essence, oil and gas as at when the figures came about has little to do with the performance of Imo state.

The service sectors via hospitality I believe had more quota as we speak more than 100 hotels are nearing completion within owerri axis alone, talk more of the entire state, however agriculture is equally doing fine in the state, especially in the likes of cassava, cashew, oil palm, rubber, plantain, rice, yam, fishery, livestock (chicken, goat,)

Then factor in the robust growth of pharmaceutical industry, today she has about 12 of them.

Trade and commerce in the last decade is equally on a steady expansion in the last decade with high end malls, plazas and open markets springing up state-wide.

Not to mention Aviation and other sectors.

There's a reason why these three words are mentioned everywhere you read about engine wear and tear . . .

STARTUP

COLD ENGINE

THICK OIL

no be me talk, na the manufacturers and testers themselves talk am.

If you're driving a vehicle with an aluminium engine without thermostat and using 20w50 oil I am sorry for you. Vehicles with full metal iron engines don't have this same issue 😕

How foolish And Dumb you sound.
So the Nigerian highways needs to be 💯 safe before the government can start building new infrastructures?

Can you put a time frame on security?
You guys are very very foolish and myopic thinking you sound intelligent like you master Yo-yo bitters .
You can’t say I’ll end insecurity in one year or two years or three years. Security is a going concern, and you can’t put everything on hold because you’re fighting insecurity.

Eg, Ukraine & Russia war , Ukraine should put all her economic activities on hold just because they want to protect their land from Russia ? .
a country at war is still doing everything economically to stay viable , talk less of Nigeria.

because security is the most important thing, economic projects or any other thing will be put on hold from your POV?

Just like insinuating that, fuel price is high , the economy is tough , inflation here and there etc.
All these things you made mention of are going concern , you don’t put everything on hold just to tackle, security, inflation or any other thing.

This coastal high way will open 700k km
corridors to business, which is an economic benefits, goods and services from SS-SW will be cheaper by 50% or less because the travel time has reduced. Is that not an economic benefit?
Families from South /South will be able to connect with their families at low cost , or they don’t serve it too?

Pressure on the existing federal roads which makes it deteriorate on time will reduce , now roads will last longer is also an economic benefit.

Anyone who has ever faced traffic on 1st Niger bridge will never criticize the government for building the 2nd Niger bridge. The whole country kept quiet when that project was on and didn’t call it misplaced priority even when Nigeria was the number capital of poverty in the world.

only bigotry & hatred will make a sane person criticize this project. The only thing I’ll say is that the project might be bloated which is prevalent to Nigeria settings starting from inception. but with time as corruption reduces project can actually go for the price but criticizing the economic benefits it’s a NO-NO.

Sir, am sorry to say this, but you sound pathetic, useless and stupid.
