Residents of Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State are set to have easier access to financial and primary healthcare services as alt bank prepares to roll out six integrated service centres under its altbox initiative.

The facilities, which combine banking and primary healthcare services, will be launched on Wednesday, November 4, in partnership with the Agege Local Government, headed by Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa.

The launch is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be attended by representatives of the bank, local government officials, community stakeholders and residents.

Each altbox will have two dedicated sections, one providing banking services and the other offering primary healthcare, in a community-based arrangement intended to bring essential services closer to residents.

The initiative is expected to benefit traders, individuals and small business owners by providing access to financial services within their communities while also making primary healthcare more accessible.

The bank said the project would also create local employment opportunities and encourage greater economic participation among residents.

The planned six-centre rollout is part of a broader arrangement to establish an altbox in each of the seven wards of Agege Local Government Area, extending the reach of the integrated services across the council.

Explaining the rationale behind the initiative, alt bank said it was designed to deepen financial inclusion by extending formal banking services beyond conventional banking locations, particularly to underserved communities.

The inclusion of primary healthcare services is intended to address another essential community need, with the bank linking the health component to its HEART strategy, which identifies healthcare as a priority area of its community investment.

The bank said combining the two services in one location would provide a practical approach to addressing everyday needs while supporting local economic activities.

The Agege project also underscores the importance of partnerships between financial institutions and local authorities in delivering community-focused infrastructure.

alt bank said it was willing to extend the model to other local and state governments interested in improving access to primary healthcare and expanding financial inclusion among their residents.

It noted that collaboration with public institutions would help develop solutions suited to the specific needs of communities and create wider economic opportunities.

alt bank commenced operations in January 2014 as a non-interest banking window within Sterling Bank. In July 2023, it received a banking licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria, allowing it to operate as a fully fledged standalone bank.
