Fujiyama: They are different. That is why we have people like Daddy freeze today. In 2014 Daddy freeze was working in a radio station getting some pathetic pay. But today he is driving a Ferrari, now multiply Daddy freeze X 1000 and do maths, Nigeria as a nation has the Largest Content Creators in Africa. So you get it. Another sector that has blown is the real estate industry, which with some disarable ways can be validated using stringent instruments would help in determining the true GDP of the country. |

Neil deGrasse Tyson is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, which is a historically African American Greek-letter sorority. Alpha Kappa Alpha was founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University by a group of nine students who wanted to use their collective talent, ambition, and intelligence to promote high ideals of friendship and service. The sorority is one of the oldest, largest, and most prominent, service-based organizations for African American women in the United States. According to Neil deGrasse Tyson's own statements, he has been a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority for over 30 years. While he has not provided a specific date of his initiation, many sources suggest that he joined the sorority in his early 20s, making it more than three decades of his membership. Neil deGrasse Tyson is a male member of a sorority because sororities and fraternities, in the context of Greek-letter organizations, are not necessarily exclusively for women or men. While fraternities are historically organizations for men and sororities for women, there are exceptions to this rule. Some fraternities, including the one that Tyson joined, allow for male membership, while some sororities also accept male members. However, these exceptions are not common. Neil deGrasse Tyson was raised Catholic and even went to La Salle Academy, a Catholic high school in Providence, Rhode Island. However, it's worth noting that as an adult, Tyson has publicly identified as an atheist or agnostic. Neil deGrasse Tyson is homosexual. In 2014, he spoke to Larry Wilmore on the show "The Nightly Show" and came out as gay. He has since identified as an African American gay man. Neil deGrasse Tyson is vehemently opposed to the flat Earth theory. In fact, he has often spoken against the idea that the Earth is flat, instead emphasizing that the Earth is an oblate spheroid (or, more simply, a sphere). Tyson is a well-known scientist and astronomer who has passionately advocated for science education and the widespread acceptance of the scientific consensus on the spherical shape of our planet.

A Nigerian economist believes our economy is actually the biggest economy in Africa and the indices used in calculating the GDP needs to rebased because of some obvious exclusions when calculating the size of our GDP. He said apart from the fact that Nigerians in diaspora sends in $20billion every year the figure brought in by cash is probably twice the official $20billion more like $40 billion. He now said in 2014 when our GDP was calculated there was no fintec companies. But today we have about 10 companies that has a capital base of $1 billion dollars. Guys what do think, but one thing I noticed when travelling to Nigeria is the plane is always full of Nigerians going back despite the terrible economy. I once travelled to Namibia and the plane was 99% white. So I asked the person I was travelling with don’t your people travel home. Most people keep on saying there is no tourist in Nigeria. Do you know who the tourist are in Nigeria. Nigerian Diaspora are the tourist in Nigeria. Guys what do you think are we really a $1.5 trillion economy. 1 Like |

The only mistake I did in my career was choosing to practice back in Nigeria in 2014 when I had an opportunity to move overseas I have sworn to never let such mistake pass down to my kids. First of all, this is a class race, the rich have many options when it comes to survival in Nigeria. For someone whose only hope in escaping poverty in Nigeria is a certificate, such a person will be a fool not to jump the caravan. When it comes to wage hmm, if you covert what you end in Nigeria for 30 days, compared to what your fellow counterparts earn in Europe, you will realize we are waiting for judgement day in Nigeria. I love my country any day anytime, but you see that thing called Poverty fight it, with any option at your disposal, even if it means been cut of from your roots for the next 50 years. 1 Like |

ogbonti: A great player may not be a great person. Any good coach will shield his players from blame and take it upon himself...because he is responsible for team selection and tactics. To blame a player for the teams loss who was not present, who told you he is injured, let you speak with his doctor and sent you MRI scans of his injury is way out of pocket for Finidi and deserves whatever insult he is getting from Victor and his outburst only showed how pained and hurt he was to loose coordination. Especially when you know how Nigerians don't forgive players whom they believe cost them a game or tournament. It was pure wickedness if it true. People react to stuff like this differently and so while I won't behave like he is doing, I won't blame him either buy just tell him to be patient and tell him how he could have handled it better. 1 Like |

ghiloman28: The day I understood who Victor Osimhen is was when the team was being welcomed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja after the finals of the Nations Cup - Press men just wanted to have a word with him - he dismissed them saying "make ona free me joor" pushing them aside - who da fvcccccck does he think he is ? - even the GOAT Messi never dismissed his Argentine press when he lost the finals of the world cup to Germany in 2014 - Let me ask one question, because this Osimhen pride is so irritating --- Is Victor Osimhen the first U-16 World Cup winner who became an African Player of the year with Nations Cup silver medal and a League Winner medal in Europe? --- NOOOOOOOO Before him was a certain Kanu Nwankwo -- He won the U-16 World Cup in Japan 1993, Won Atlanta Olympics Gold Medal in 1996 scoring 2 great goals against a Brazillian side that later had 2 world footballers of the year (Ronaldo and Rivaldo) - same Kanu won the Dutch Eredivisie League Shield, Won the Dutch FA Cup, Won the European Champions League Cup, Won the World Football Club Cup with Ajax Amsterdam (with Finidi George as his team mate at Ajax Amsterdam in 1994/95 season) - Won 2 African Footballer of the Year for the years (1996,1999) - Won the English Premiership and FA cup with Arsenal, (Kanu was among that Arsenal legendary “invincible” team of 1998/99 season that did not lose a single match both in the league and FA Cup, scoring sensational goals week in / week out - a team comprising of the great Thierry Henry, Roberto Pires, Gilberto Silva, Ray Parlor, Bergkamp, Sullvan Wiltord, Patrick Vieira, Ashley Cole and a host of other world class / great footballers of that era - Won the FA Cup with Portsmouth, AND yes, Kanu won a silver in the African Cup of Nations, 2000 (it should have been gold if Goal line technology was there then to validate Ikpeba's penalty miss) ----- In World Football reckoning - can Osimhen lace Kanu's boots? have we ever heard Kanu insult anyone like Victor just did ? when someone lacks home training selling pure water in the traffic and fortune smile's on that person - this is always the result - gutter attitude.... One can make as much money as he can - but CLASS cant be bought!!! - Victor Osimhen is a tout and if he were a French, Spanish, English, Brazillian or German National Team Player - he will be given at least 2 years ban for this travesty ---swearing ogun on social media - what a pile of sh IT behavior! ![]() He should go and ask why David Ginola AND Eric Cantona did not make the French National team of 1998 that won the World cup as talented as they were then? INDISCIPLINE, they were chased out of the French National Team ------- Victor must tender an unreserved apology to Finidi George-- a Nigerian hero who scored that lone goal in Algeria to give Nigeria that first world cup ticket in 1993 -- after so many near misses for almost 50 years of trying ----- that Finidi goal sent Nigeria to our first world cup ever --- Long before Osimhen was born ---- I watched that match live - Algeria scored through Cherif Quazzani - the same man that scored the lone goal to give Algeria victory over Nigeria in 1990 Nations Cup Finals ---- That match almost gave 180 million Nigerians High BP as it was tension soaked from the blast of the whistle - Na Finidi goal that night give us that ticket ----- to tell you how that qualifier series was so important then - Ghana under the great Abedi Pele AND Tony Yeboah - as hot as they were then in Europe did not qualify for that world cup in USA 1994---- I hate nansense!!!!!! small money and small fame, Victor just dey swear ogun for everybodi NIGERIA too big VICTOR OSIMHEN - with or without you - we will get it right -- you better be humble because your decline is about to start with this your gutter attitude --- nansense!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Pv8ytRpAiE 9 Likes 3 Shares |

ocelot2006: If you know anything about the EU, they have a huge dislike for war. The last war before the Russian Ukraine war was that in Ex Yugoslavia. It was the US that brought an end to that conflict in 1995 by forcing a peace deal in a meeting in Dayton, Ohio. Europe disappointed big time. There was zero threat from Europe. Putin knew this. It was his ego that felt maligned that EU was not keeping to the part of its agreement it signed with the USSR. The USSR is no more. Some of its former member states have joined the EU. The only former USSR country nostalgic of the Soviet Union is Russia which was its nucleus. Putins craves the influence Russia once weilded. Those days are GONE! Gone! Gone! Did Putin love his people so much? Russian economy since 2014 barely grew beyond 3% per annum. Instead of focusing on how to bolster the fortunes of Russia, he chose to save a massive financial war chest of over $600bn of which the West has seized half of. Putin wants to denazify Ukraine? LOL. What were the Nazis most notorious for? The genocide of 6m Jews. Hitler had an extreme hatred of them, the Nazi party worked hard to exterminate them. Guess who the president of Ukraine is? A Jew. A Jew who lost his grandparents during World War 2, killed by the Nazis. How more Jewish can you get! Yet, Putin claims he want to denazify the place. Who is he deceiving? 1 Like |

AllTheWayUp: I think you should take up your own and do a little reading on the history of the region. First of all, Crimea has always been Russian. Second, this whole mess predates 2014. The west, led by the USA at the end of the cold war, CHOSE to expand NATO Eastward despite Gorbachev's plea and subsequent warnings by the Russian govt that NATO expansion ends at Germany. In 2007, Vladimir Putin gave clear warnings and red lines were drawn on Ukraine and Georgia during the Munich Security Conference. This followed the Bush led administration and NATO mgt considering Ukraine and Georgia as possible candidates for NATO membership. Again, did the west listen? Nope. In 2008 things escalated with the Russo-Georgian war, a war clearly instigated by the later with weapons and training provided, although in limited quantities. Again, did the west listen? NOPE. Within said period and 2014, the west instigated TWO colour revolutions in Ukraine, the later being the most brazen with the then Ukranian President kicked out of office in a western sponsored coup, an act that angered the industrial and Russian-speaking Eastern region of Ukraine, leading to riots that degenerated to a civil war. Then 2022 happens. Despite multiple talks and appeals for reconsideration, the west refuses to drop talks of NATO membership for Ukraine, forgetting that this was viewed as an existential threat to the security of the Russian Federation. Well, here we are now.... The Russians are not bluffing on this. They're ready for the long and the initiative is on their side, with the war of attrition in their favour. The Russians will get what they want, ESPECIALLY the Donbass. As the west has given the Ukrainians the go ahead, don't be surprised when Russian weapons begin to show up in western controlled territories outside continental Europe (eg Africa, Asia, the Pacific). The only folks I feel sorry are the Ukrainians because they'll be left with a large bag of kaka when the music stops (a destroyed nation, a depleted productive population, destroyed infrastructure, etc). South Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan definitely comes to mind. 1 Like 1 Share |

I would say dignity in labor. But in this era of camera phones, social media and clout chasing, I hardly believe anything that I see in pixels. But still... I admire his willingness to fend for himself, rather than constitute nuisance as a beggar. Far back as 2014, there's this very young girl that usually sit on one pedestrian bridge I used on my way to work. She had a very small child then (Less than a year). Whenever I pass through through that route, I'll squeeze some money and place it into her hands. I left the area about three years later... Early this year, I visited the neighbourhood, and passed through the bridge again... Omoh. The lady was on that same spot. Her boy all grown!.. She smiled at me, expecting me to drop something as usual, but damn. I wasn't impressed. A group of wisemen used to say "If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl. If you can't crawl, just keep moving". There's never an excuse for being in the same spot for such a long time... Well. I heard some beggars in Abuja are landlords, and some own cars able bodied men drive for them as taxis... Never believed the story though... But still... Leave that bridge! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Once upon a time, hailing a taxi or cab meant standing on a street corner and hoping for the best, or calling a company/service as time went by to dispatch one to your location. However, all that has changed in more recent years because with only just a few taps on a smartphone – a car will arrive within minutes! And this new-ish dispensation is irrevocably here to stay as it’ll only alter slightly, the main idea will forever remain. Welcome to an all-new world of Ride-Hailing/Sharing services, the unfathomable dark-horse of a revolution in urban transportation that has dramatically transformed how we move from point A to point B and according to this overview of the number$ from Statista: https://www.statista.com/outlook/mmo/shared-mobility/ride-hailing/worldwide, it sure is a money spinner! And the Nigerian market is anticipated to generate a revenue of $252.7m for 2024. The mouth-watering projection of $63.28b for China is enticingly enormous! Now let us take a journey through the history, evolution, and future of this game-changing industry: The Early Days: From Carpools to Technology-Driven Solutions Pre-2000s: The Humble Beginnings Just as with with the flight of birds giving inspiration to the invention of aeroplanes, before ride-sharing became synonymous with apps and smartphones, it had a much simpler form – carpooling: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carpool The concept of sharing rides has been around for decades, particularly during times of economic hardship or energy crises. Take the 1970s for example – when carpooling surged in popularity globally in response to the oil embargo. Families and colleagues would share rides to save money and fuel. 2000-2009: The Seed of Innovation The internet is the main pioneer, the main driver (pun intended), and was the very first domino to have fallen – leading to other discoveries and endless possibilities. To side-step a bit, AI could likely do the same – nature often repeats itself… Now back to the thematic revelation at hand: The early noughties (2000s) saw websites like Craigslist starting to play a role in ride-sharing, they offered ride-matching services – where users could post and find rides. However, these solutions lacked the higher levels of convenience, safety, and efficiency we’ve all come to associate modern ride-sharing services with. The real game-changer though was the rise of GPS technology and smartphones. These advancements provided the foundation for real-time location-based services thereby greatly enabling a simple yet formulaic approach to e-hailing a taxi or cab, also ensuring continuity and setting the stage for the eponymous ride-sharing revolution experienced – as even our colloquy has now been transformed as well; just like the transposition of “Google” with “online search” – Uber, the first entrant into the market has been verbified also, it isn’t uncommon to hear things like “I Ubered there.” or “Let’s get an Uber.” these days. The legit name for when that happens is called anthemeria: https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbesbusinessdevelopmentcouncil/2020/07/28/naming-your-brand-control-the-verb-control-the-market/ The Ride-Sharing Revolution: Uber and Beyond 2009: Uber’s Entry In 2009, two friends, Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick, were frustrated by the difficulty of hailing a cab in San Francisco which led them to envision a service where you could request a ride with just a tap on your phone. This idea gave birth to UberCab, later renamed Uber. Uber’s model was simple yet revolutionary; it connected riders with drivers through a mobile app, offering a seamless and cashless experience and yes they did gain and enjoy that “first-mover advantage” thoroughly, consolidating their position as the first few years went by. Also, I can’t exactly remember which conference or interview it was but a few years after Uber was launched, then CEO Travis Kalanick was asked about autonomous cars in the future and how they would affect the drivers in terms of loss-of-jobs to which he replied that there would be training programs available for drivers to pivot into other careers (agriculture was strongly suggested) but he was almost certain that the next technological wave was coming as he said explicitly that reason an Uber seemed expensive was due to paying for “the other dude” in the car, and if that dude wasn’t there – the trip would be significantly cheaper. An unfortunate but truthful reality nonetheless in my own opinion; an industry will often cannibalise itself. “Adapt or die.” – as they say. 2012: Lyft Joins the Race Hot on Uber’s heels, Lyft entered the market in 2012. Founded by Logan Green and John Zimmer, Lyft distinguished itself with a more community-oriented approach. With its iconic pink mustaches and emphasis on friendly, casual interactions, Lyft aimed to create a fun and social ride-sharing experience. Prior to that however, as Computer Programmers – they had already founded a long-distance intercity carpooling company focused on college transport in 2007 after Green shared rides from the University of California, Santa Barbara campus to visit his girlfriend in Los Angeles. 2013: Bolt (Formerly “Taxify”) Enters the Fray One thing that always stood out in my mind about Taxify (now Bolt) was that it was set-up by a kid from Estonia and I would often joke with my mates back then in our local parlance – “see persin wey we senior O, see im doings nah” loosely translated to look at what someone younger than us has been able to achieve. So, in 2013 – then 19 year-old high-school student Markus Villig founded Taxify after receiving a sum of €5000 loan from his family. He then went on to build a prototype of the app and went out to the streets of Tallinn to recruit drivers personally. That determination would eventually bear fruit as within a year the service was up and running and even became operational outside Estonia. 2013-2016: Expansion and Competition The mid-2010s saw explosive growth for Uber, Lyft, and Bolt. Uber expanded aggressively, launching in cities worldwide with Uber coming in strong into Nigeria in 2014, whilst Bolt started their operation as Taxify still “young and fresh” – entered in 2016 (global rebrand to "Bolt" happened in March 2019). They both went on to launch their services in other major cities across the country. Uber branched off, introducing services like UberX, UberPOOL, and UberEATS which is currently the name sponsor of the top tiered Football League in France – Ligue 1. Bolt also eventually launched Bolt Food, albeit in 2019. Lyft wasn’t left out, they also grew rapidly – expanding their footprint across the United States and Canada. Lyft however didn’t start-off in Nigeria. This period was marked by fierce competition, with these companies offering promotions, subsidies, and innovations to capture market share. The ride-sharing model became increasingly popular, appealing to consumers across multiple demographics mostly due to its convenience, affordability, ease of use and naturally led the way for other ride-hailing entrants like inDrive who now seem to garner more and more market-share by the day – with their conventional pricing model differentiating themselves as opposed to the traditional ride-hailing dynamic pricing model. I opine that the market is large enough to absorb and accommodate more "players" especially in a heavily congested city like Lagos, there would always be opportunities abound so much so that even the state (public-private partnership just as with the BRT mass transit service) hasn’t been left out and have joined-in with the launch of LagRide service in March 2022. Challenges and Controversies Regulatory Hurdles It hasn't all been smooth sailing all the way - as ride-hailing services grew, they faced significant regulatory challenges. Traditional taxi companies and metropolitan city governments pushed back, arguing that ride-hailing companies were operating without proper licensing and safety standards. This led to numerous legal battles and regulatory changes worldwide. I remember Bolt even briefly ceasing their operations in London before reacquiring the necessary licence(s) to continue offering their services again in that city. Driver and Labour Issues Another major controversy is centered around the classification of drivers. Ride-hailing companies classified drivers as independent contractors, sparking debates over labour rights, wages, and benefits. This issue remains contentious, with it being partially resolved in a few regions whilst ongoing legal and political battles continue to plague ride-hailing services in many regions to this very day. Safety and Trust Safety has always been a critical concern. Although the major ride-hailing services implemented various safety features such as background checks for drivers, in-app emergency buttons, and ride-tracking – incidences of assault and other crimes have slipped through notwithstanding, and this has led to calls for more stringent safety measures. The Present: Ride-Sharing Today A Ubiquitous Service Today, ride-hailing/sharing services have become an integral part of urban life in many cities around the world. Companies like Uber, Lyft and Bolt have become household names, and new players like inDrive, DiDi Rider, and Grab have emerged in international markets. The convenience, flexibility, and affordability of these service-offerings have made them the preferred mode of transportation for millions globally. Technological Integration Modern ride-hailing/sharing services leverage advanced technologies to enhance user experience. Features like real-time GPS tracking, dynamic pricing, and in-app payment systems have streamlined the process for both riders and drivers. Additionally, services like ride-sharing for special needs, bike and scooter rentals, and even helicopter rides have now improved and diversified the offerings further. The Impact of COVID-19 The COVID-19 pandemic, a dark chapter in our recent history already becoming a distant memory – posed significant challenges for the ride-sharing industry. With lockdowns and travel restrictions, demand plummeted, and many drivers faced economic hardships. Companies had to adapt quickly, introducing measures like mask mandates, vehicle sanitisation, and even delivering essential goods in order to stay afloat. The Future: What’s Next for Ride-Hailing/Sharing Services? Autonomous Vehicles One of the most exciting prospects for the future of ride-hailing/sharing as mentioned earlier is the advent of autonomous vehicles. Companies like Uber and Lyft amongst others who aren’t even currently offering ride-sharing services such as those in the online shopping and deliveries industry are also investing heavily in self-driving technology. Autonomous vehicles: https://www.nairaland.com/8024281/autonomous-vehicles promise to reduce costs, improve safety, and increase efficiency. While fully autonomous ride-sharing fleets are still a few years away, pilot programs and testing are already underway. City planners, architects and designers are already reimagining a future whereby the parking lots in large buildings would be repurposed and retrofitted to include apartments and or offices since optimal riding-sharing services will cause car ownership to drastically reduce in future for if autonomous vehicles continually pick-up and drop-off different people and or items to and fro, it's only logical that a significant decline ensues. With the idea of a subscription based Mobility-on-Demand (MOD) and Mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) already happening with e-bikes and e-scooters in North-America and some major cities in Western-Europe where you meet an already charged e-bike docked in a station – you make use of it and dock it in another station when you arrive at your destination, then some other subscriber makes use of that particular e-bike you docked when they are ready to leave - leaving you to use another when you’re through with whatever business you were involved with – and that cycle continues. Sustainability and Environmental Impact As cities worldwide grapple with climate change, the ride-sharing industry is focusing on sustainability. Many companies are committing to greener fleets, including electric and hybrid vehicles. Additionally, initiatives like ride-sharing for e-bikes and e-scooters as mentioned above contribute to reducing the carbon footprint. However, e-bikes have also brought their own problems as there have been a few unfortunate fatal accidents where these machines have caught fire in buildings whilst charging overnight. Expanding Services The future of ride-sharing isn’t limited to cars alone. Companies are exploring various modes of transportation, including bicycles, bikes, scooters, boats, and even flying cars. The integration of these different transportation modes aim to provide a comprehensive and seamless urban mobility solution in the future. Enhanced Safety and Regulation In response to past controversies, the industry is likely to see stricter regulations and enhanced safety measures. Improved background checks, AI-driven safety features, and collaboration with local authorities will be essential to maintaining trust and security. Take the data-sharing agreement between Uber and the Lagos State Government: https://nairametrics.com/2024/03/24/lasg-clarifies-uber-sanction-and-e-hailing-data-sharing-agreement/ which raised a few eye-brows back then, for example. Global Reach and Local Adaptation As ride-sharing continues to grow globally, companies will inevitably need to adapt to local cultures, regulations, and infrastructure. Tailoring their services to meet the unique needs of different regions will be crucial for sustained success. The rise of ride-sharing services has been a remarkable journey, transforming urban transportation and redefining mobility. From humble beginnings as a simple idea, to the global phenomenon that it is today; the industry has indeed come a long way. As we look to the future, the potential for innovation and growth remains immense. Whether it’s through autonomous vehicles, sustainable practices, or new modes of personal-transportation or otherwise, ride-sharing is poised to continue shaping the way we move for years to come. Also, I’d like to use this opportunity to appeal to all folks out there, yes – there might be a lot of money associated with this industry but it doesn’t trickle down as much to the drivers who are at the lowest rung of the ladder. Plus, we have the tendency to be condescending and belittle those who we perceive to be beneath us. So please, be kind and courteous in your interactions – same goes for the drivers as well. And the next time you tap a button and hop into a ride – remember that you’re part of a revolution that’s only just getting started. https://autohub.ng/blog/the-global-adoption-of-ride-hailing-sharing-services/

This is the first time since 2015 that an administration will fail to publish this report, going by available data from the budget office of the federation, which suggests that the government had been carrying out its expenditure in secrecy. Since it came on board in May 2023, the President Bola Tinubu's administration has failed to publish budget performance reports for the information of Nigerians, as mandated by the Fiscal Responsibility Act, SaharaReporters can report. This is the first time since 2015 that an administration will fail to publish this report, going by available data from the budget office of the federation, which suggests that the government had been carrying out its expenditure in secrecy. Budget performance reports are aimed at showing how the government is spending money and on what it is spending public funds on. Each quarter is three months, simply meaning that the federal government is expected to publish its expenditure and revenue generation every month. These documents are usually accessible on the budget office website and are normally published on a periodic basis of every three months. Data checks show that in 2015, three quarters budget performance reports were published, the administration also published the fourth quarter budget performance of the three quarters published. In 2016, all four quarters reports were published, same as 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2020, three quarters budget performance reports were published. Four quarters were published in 2021 and 2022. As of 2023, two quarters were published before expenses between January and June. However since the emergence of Tinubu, no budget performance report has been published per data on the budget office of the federation website. In years before 2015, Budget performance documents publication have also been a norm. In 2009, all four quarters budget performance documents were published. In 2010, only one quarter was published, in 2011 four quarters were published, 2012 four quarters, 2013 saw three quarters published, while 2014 witnessed two quarters budget performance documents publication. The budget performance reports have been useful for demanding accountability on different fronts by different stakeholders of the country. It also shows the fiscal balance and position of the federal government, helping citizens to ask questions on management of their funds. The refusal of the Tinubu led administration to publish budget performance reports is also a violation of the country’s fiscal responsibility act. Section 30 (2) , of the act mandates the ministry of finance to publish in the mass and electronic medium and on the Ministry of Finance website budget performance report not later than thirty days after the end of each quarter. Already, there are challenges of corruption and poor management of public resource in Nigeria. https://saharareporters.com/2024/06/15/how-tinubus-government-spends-money-secrecy-fails-release-budget-performance-reports 1 Like |

Many Nigerians have declared their support for the proposed bills by 35 members of the House of Representatives seeking a single term of six years for the president and state governors as well rotation of the presidency among the country’s six geopolitical zones and rotation of the governorship among the three senatorial districts in the state. A spokesperson for the lawmakers under the auspices of the Reformed-minded Legislators, Ikenga Ugochinyere, said the proposal would reduce cost of governance, unite the country, and ensure a seamless transition and unprecedented development. Throwing their weight behind the bill, Nigerians argued that if passed into law, the bills would end agitations, redefine the country’s democracy and bring peace and equity. Some citizens however dismissed the proposal saying a single six-year tenure was not the way out for many problems besetting the country and would not change anything. Rotational presidency ‘ll end agitations —Mazi Ohuabunwa Former Chairman, National Economic Summit, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, said a single six-year term for the President will arrest the unnecessary fight and desperation associated with second term bid. According to him, “This idea is fantastic. I think the proponents are the most patriotic Nigeria lawmakers I have ever seen or heard in recent times. I’m so impressed that they have looked at all the issues causing trouble in Nigeria. They have just given solutions to Nigeria’s problems. They have given a very simple solution. A single-term presidency will put a stop to all the trouble that we have been going through in this country. Somebody who is fighting to succeed because of a second term will stop. This is the time you see the fiercest fight because the incumbent uses government resources to impose himself/herself on the people unlike in the first term where one depends on one’s personal resources. Second term bid is when the country is shaking and wants to break but this single term presidency will solve it.” On rotation of presidency, he said, “Rotation of presidency will bring peace and equity. It will minimize friction because everybody will have to wait for their turn. It will also bring healthy competition among the six geopolitical zones. So, I support it and want all the lawmakers to support it. I also want all the elections to be held in one day. Let’s also adopt electronic transmission of election results. I just wish that other National Assembly members would wake up and stop being anti-Nigeria or thinking of how it will benefit them first. The fate of the bill would however be decided by the disposition of the Government in power. If the government in power agrees with the proposition, it will pass easily but if the government is lackadaisical over it, then we are in trouble. The President used to talk of reforms but he has stopped. But if he believes in reforms and works towards it, the bill will pass”. A single-term will reduce corruption, cost of elections — Emiaso, a retired judge Also supporting the bill, an ex-president of the Delta State Area Customary Court, Miakpor Emiaso, said, “A single-term system is good for this country, given our experiences with conducting elections for a second term. The second tenure arrangement encourages massive corruption on the part of governors and presidents who want to return for a second term. They loot public money and reserve it for elections. If there is no second tenure, he will do his best in the six years that he has to be there. A single-term arrangement will reduce corruption and the cost of elections. It is very advantageous to our political system and it should be encouraged. It is not as if it does not have its disadvantages, but I think the advantages heavily outweigh the disadvantages. With the second term arrangement, you hear arguments that we started projects that we want to complete, but with a six-year single tenure system, you start a project, and any time you leave, the incoming administration will continue from where you stopped. We should have an arrangement under our laws that would bind incoming administrations to continue whatever projects the previous administrations have invested public funds into.” On rotational presidency, he said, “It should be rotational to reflect the federal character of this country to make sure that no part of this country is treated as second class and not capable of producing the president. When you talk of rotation at the federal level; you must also talk of rotation at the state level. It should cut across the entire spectrum of the country and of the states. It creates balance and encourages everyone to be part of the system without any part feeling that they are being marginalized or treated as second-rate citizens.” The bills will solve our inability to manage our diversity—Adima A political activist, Mr Blessing Adima said: “For the single term, I give the House of Representatives, kudos, and thumbs up. They are trying to implement a section of the 2014 National Confab, which recommended a single-term tenure for the President. When those who are elected know that they have one tenure, they cannot afford to fail because when they fail, they know that they will have a bad record. The politicians are lazy because they think they have a second term and by the time they get it, they are already used to the bad system of governance. I think the members of the House of Representatives are on the right track for single tenure. I am in support of it. On rotational presidency, it is a welcome development. For me, with the complex nature of Nigeria and our inability to manage our diversity, the issue of rotation is crucial to us so that nobody will be crying of marginalization.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/06/single-tenure-rotational-presidency-governorship-nigerians-hail-lawmakers/amp/ 1 Like

OBJ used Peter Obi to divide PDP, them, who used Atiku, Saraki, Amaechi and Kwankwaso to divide PDP in 2014? This man his hand and eyes doesn't connect to his brain at all. He just vomit but nonsense. Now, who should we believe. Some group will say OBJ doesn't like Tinubu and that was why he supported Obi. Another group will say OBJ doesn't like Atiku and that was why he supported Obi. Who should we now believe among these people as Reno his vomiting his own now? Meanwhile, if there is anyone that is emotionally controlled, it is Mr. Reno Omokri. The person that cannot control his emotion but take pleasure to malign and denigrate anyone that he doesn't like or follow what he believes. The same man that used 9 years to maligned Buhari. The same man that was once maligning Tinubu and had called him out for so many issues. The man that doesn't tolerate other people's views and always unfriending people that say any contrary opinion on Facebook, Twitter and other of his platform. I knew how he unfriended me on Facebook because I dropped contrary opinion to his. It's the same man challenging someone that he is being controlled by emotion. If that Mr. John is being controlled by emotion, then, Reno Omokri is being controlled by hyper emotion. A man that always believe he is infallible and always right in his own eye. The bible called their group, the foolish ones because he uses the foolish things of this world to confound the said the wise. God had Reno Omokri in mind when he made that line of scripture.
