Russia is playing the long game, they know that this war would most certainly drag on for years if not decades and that Ukraine will always be next to their doorstep.

With this in mind, Russia began buying DJI drones from China, Ballistic missiles, Kamikaze drones from Iran and ammunition from North Korea.

Why did they do that? They realized that it was cheaper to buy from Iran, China and North Korea, as these countries have vast amount of cheap and effective weapons, they might not be very accurate but they can be improved upon and will keep the war going.

A Russian Ballistic missile cost over $5 million per one. The same analog from Iran & North Korea cost only $50,000 per one.

Russian kamikaze drones go for about $70,000 per one but an Iranian one cost only $2000 while a Chinese drone cost about $3500. You can even find them on Aliexpress.

The Iranian kamikaze drones were so cheap and effective at evading western air defense systems worth billions of dollars, that Russia even had to setup a factory in Russia to mass produce those drones.

The over 11,000 containers of ammunition from North Korea cost Russia only $20,000,000. Ukraine buys a single container for about $2,000,000.

If you were Russia which one would you choose if you really plan on winning the war?

In wars quantity sometimes is quality. 20 cheap and outdated tanks will always win against 5 sophisticated and super expensive tanks.

A self sufficient nation needs no assistance because they are self sufficient; literally.

They don’t need trading with other nations or signing pacts to stay afloat.

Oil slump: Bring down fuel price immediately, Fashola tells FG ON DECEMBER 7, 2014

Lagos—As the global oil prices slid further downward, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, asked the Federal Government to review downward the pump prices of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS,  from N97 per litre in the country in tandem with the slump in world oil price. President Jonathan and Gov Babatubde Fashola of Lagos The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, had last Friday, on its website pegged the oil price at $66.27 per barrel.

Fashola who blasted FG for its reluctance to adjust the pump price of   PMS, made the remarks while addressing hundreds of youths at the  Lagos State and After School  Graduation Development Centre,  AGDC, IGNITE Employability Project 5, Ikeja. He lamented that Nigerians were not receiving fair treatment from the central government like others in oil producing nation.

Fashola said, “Now we should be enjoying cheap fuel if the price of oil has dropped globally. Even as we import the product, a major component has reduced in price and while this has reduced, the pump price of fuel in the country still remains the same. “Then something is wrong. If the price increases in the country when the price of oil goes up globally, then it should also reduce when the price of oil drops. “I understand that I am not an economist; they (Federal Government) are the economists. But I have some logic and common sense to ask critical questions. For instance, if one buy flour at N10 per kilogram, and the bread was sold at N1 per loaf. If the price of flour drops, the price of the bread should also change,” Fashola added.

The governor, therefore, urged President Goodluck Jonathan led administration to follow the footstep of other countries that have reduced the pump price of oil products for their citizens. Fashola noted that the oil sector of the country had not been improved to address challenges confronting the nation especially unemployment, saying “The economy is not doing well. Some of you (audience) are compelled to try to survive through whatever means.”

On how the oil sector would have addressed the unemployment challenges, he said. “If we are trying to build refinery with Dangote in Lekki Free Zone, LTZ, in Epe; and the construction alone would require 8, 000 workers. It means that they must get to work and back. So there is need for transportation service, there is need for food and other services during work and post construction. “So if we stop importing fuel, and start building refineries and doing other things right the economy will lift. If you build a gas grid for the country and rough estimate indicated that investing $5 billion, many businesses will began to get gas and some of the power installation can also convert to gas and others, there would be sudden positive effect on the country’s economy.”

In apparent response to the biting hardship in the economy, the number of workers that made withdrawals from their voluntary contributions under their pension savings increased by 87.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2024, Q1’24.

Specifically, the number of workers that withdrew from their voluntary contributions went up to 1,302 in Q1’24, from 694 recorded in the preceding quarter, Q4’23.

Also, the value of funds withdrawn from the voluntary contributions increased by 160 per cent to N3.9 billion from N1.5 billion withdrawn in the previous quarter.

A breakdown of the first quarter report released by the National Pension Commission, PenCom, show that 1,259 workers who made the withdrawals were from the private sector, while 43 were from the public sector.

Voluntary Contributions are extra funds that a worker can opt to add to his/her mandatory pension contributions, or simply set aside as retirement savings.

The Pension Reform Act (PRA) 2014 allows employees to make voluntary contributions into their Retirement Savings Accounts, RSAs, in addition to their mandatory pension contributions, with the sole aim of enhancing their retirement benefits.

The report stated: “Approvals were granted to 1,302, RSA holders to access N3.9 billion of their voluntary contributions during the quarter under review while 24 were rejected due to incorrect computations. 1,259 RSA holders whose benefits were approved were from the private sector, while 43 were from the public sector.”

Meanwhile, on RSA holders request to access their pension savings for mortgage, the report stated: “A total of 1,390 RSA holders requested to access up to 25% of their RSA balances towards payment of equity contributions for residential mortgage during the quarter under review. Approvals were granted to 1,234 requests amounting to N10.5 billion, while 156 were rejected due to incorrect documentations. Out of the 1,234 applicants whose benefits were approved, 379 were from the private sector, while the remaining 855 were from the public sector.”

Further analysis of the report show that a total of 89,061 new RSAs were registered in different sectors in the quarter ended 31 March 2024.

Analysis of the RSA registrations across PFAs revealed that Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers had the largest market share of 23.9% of new registrations with 21,288 contributors registered, followed by Access Pensions Limited, which had 22.5% with 20,042 new contributors registered. ARM Pension Managers Ltd, Leadway Pensure PFA and Premium Pension followed with 8.4%, 7.1%, 7.0% of the new registrations during the quarter respectively. Consequently, the top five PFAs collectively held 68.8% while the bottom five PFAs recorded an aggregate of 4.3% of the 89,061 new RSAs registered in Q1’24.
