1. Dino Melaye: this is the guy you allowed to lead your campaign. He is not mature for such responsibilities.

2. Phrank Shaibu: This one spent time attacking Tinubu instead of convincing voters about your programmes. He also defended the failure of your media team to do the proper work. He misadvised you to grant two press conferences that did not cover you in glory.

3. daniel Bwala: This one has visited the person who defeated you more than three times in 5 months. He seems to already avoid you. Either he was a mole in your campaign or never believed in you.

4. Don Pedro Obaseki: He was your head of research and ought to have been aware and properly advised you that the Chicago route was a calamity for you. The premise that Tinubu never graduated was wrong. When you realized he graduated, you shifted to certificate forgery, which ended up being punctured. He failed to guide you properly.

5. Paul Ibe: This one only became visible after you lost.

6. David Hundeyin: This one was discredited by Oxford over matters of sexism and fraud by Oxford University. He released stories on Tinubu that were based on speculations and sold them to you. He scammed you.

Former Governor of Ogun State and current Senator, Otunba Engr. Olugbenga daniel, has underscored the necessity for government subsidies in the power sector following the removal of petrol subsidies.

They let them do the business but government is the owner of majority shares. I’m not so sure anyone is running without the government having about 51% shares. So, they opened up but it is guided economic diplomacy and they are there to help those companies. That is why it’s not difficult for many of those companies to enter into market that otherwise belonged to Western Europe and the US because of that support," he said.

Reflecting on his tenure as Governor, daniel reiterated his belief that while the government should not run businesses, it has a critical role in facilitating and supporting private enterprise.

"In fact, what I said when I was Governor was that yes, government has no business in business, but government has a responsibility to support business because, if you ask government parastatals and agencies to run businesses, they just don’t know how to run them. So they have no business in running business, but government has a responsibility to support and facilitate business."

He highlighted the multiple tax burdens faced by Nigerian companies, which operate in challenging environments with inadequate power, security, and infrastructure.

The former governor noted that companies like Nestlé and Nigerian Breweries, which have historically been profitable, are now declaring losses. In contrast, sectors like banking and telecommunications, which do not engage in traditional production, continue to thrive. This discrepancy, according to him, calls for a more supportive environment for productive industries.

"Companies are operating in a very, very hostile environment: no power, no security. So an average company must organise its own power, its own security, its own waterworks, its own access roads in some instances. So it’s already quite a hostile location for them to operate. Then, when you now think that this is a company and you begin to tax them, indiscriminately, it’s a disincentive.

"Without any doubt, we know the sectors that are making money are not many in this country, we know them. And they are not really productive sectors. I can explain this to you. What is the production in the banking system? So they are making money. What’s the production in telecoms? It is the air that transmits and as the air is transmitting, they are charging. So they are making money. They use artificial intelligence and stuff like that. Proprietary right is what we are paying for. No production because production is the most difficult thing to do. But there is virtually no company in production in Nigeria today that is making money."

daniel commended the current administration’s efforts to harmonise the tax regime, which he believes will provide much-needed relief to the private sector.

Expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future, the senator representing Ogun East at the national assembly voiced his confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and his extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, suggesting that this unique background equips him to navigate the complexities of Nigeria’s economic landscape effectively.

"But the summary is that we have in this administration somebody who knows where the shoe pinches, somebody who has a background of the private sector and experience in the public sector, and somebody who also has gone through the mills and the grills.

"Late Tai Solarin said ‘may your road be rough’ I think that when you look at the trajectory of our president, he has gone through everything. So he knows what to do, and when you have somebody like that at the helm of affairs, he cannot afford to fail and I don’t see how he’s going to fail.

"So I have absolute confidence that this administration will continue to turn around the fortunes of our country and I know that at the end of the day, our country will be better for it," he said.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN and some stakeholders in the Petroleum sector have asked the Federal Government to immediately reopen the Taurus Petroleum Depot and Koko jetty in Delta State shut since January following an investigation into a contaminated Petroleum Motor Spirit, PMS, shipped in by Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL.

Taurus depot, a major Petroleum trucking outlet in the region was sealed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority, NMDRA, in January due to an ongoing investigation into the discharge of over 9.8million litres of water in place of pms shipped in by NNPCL through a Vessel into one of its tanks.

The vessel, named Mt Austria at the centre of the investigation has been immobilized and continued to obstruct the only jetty used to discharge fuel into other depots in the area.

While the outcome of an investigation into the incident is still being awaited, commercial activities in the areas have been grounded with stakeholders warning that the situation is already hurting investments in the sector and disrupting fuel supply to the region.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman of IPMAN, Delta State, Mr Harry Okenin lamented the hardship faced by his members whose products are locked up in Taurus depot saying that it is unfair to subject the depot and its members to unquantifiable losses over a matter they know nothing about.

"Our members are dying. Taurus depot should be reopened for our members to take their products. We also want the Federal Government to open the retail NNPCL portal for us to buy fuel directly from the government," he said.

Also speaking on the issue, the Warri Zonal Chairman of Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association, Vincent Ojeagba said that it is worrisome that the government would shut down a private investment like Taurus depot without bothering over the huge consequences of such action on its owners.

He said: "Shutting a major depot like Tuarus is not a good decision by government. This kind of action is capable of discouraging investment in the sector. This issue here is clear. A vessel brought in 20 million liters of PMS and about 9.8 million liters was found to have been contaminated with water. Investigation commenced five months ago and to date, there has been no outcome. Meanwhile Taurus depot and Koko jetty remain shut. That is unfair.

"We are appealing to the Federal government to relocate to the vessel under investigation from Koko jetty to make way for other vessels to come in. Taurus depot should also be reopened for Marketers to access their products."

Also speaking on the matter, a community leader in Koko, daniel Obayendo said the closure of Taurus depot and Koko jetty has not only crippled the local economy but also lead to scarcity of fuel in the region.

"This is like a death sentence for our local community. Our people thrive on the business activities around Taurus depot but that is no longer the case since the depot was shut. Our appeal is that the government should reopen the depot."

Stakeholders who participated at 2 days concord initiative Southeast zonal technical workshop on sustainable peace, inclusive recovery and durable security have identified loss of some core Igbo values as remote causes of insecurity in the region.

The participants drawn from the five States in the South East geopolitical zone, included Traditional Rulers, community leaders, leadership of religious institutions, law enforcement agents, heads of government and nongovernmental organisations, political leaders and educationists.

They further enjoined the governors and lawmakers from Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States to thinker policies and legislations geared towards reviving some of the dying Igbo cultural values especially those involving Igbo apprenticeship modal and skills acquisition, sacredness of marriages, community parenting, respect to elders and environments.

According to them, when homes and communities are bonded in peace, there is bound to be inclusive results for durable peace and sustainable development across the South East states and beyond.

Speaking at the event held at Awka, the Anambra State capital, the Traditional Ruler of Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Sunday Okafor, argued that crimes would be reduced to a barest minimum if not totally eradicated when the Igbo nation upholds their core values, even as he charged the younger generations to jettison get-rich-quick syndrome.

On his part, the Executive Director, West African Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), Dr Chukwuemeka Eze, urged the government to be proactive in tackling insecurity, engage with stakeholders in dialogue, while improving business investments, build the capacity and manpower of the security agents.

Contributing, the National President, Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), Chief Titus Akpudo and Mr Okechukwu Nwaguma of Rule of Law and Accountability Centre (RULAAC), averred that insecurity could be addressed through a collaborative efforts with all stakeholders, sustained dialogue and reorientation.

Also speaking, the Anambra State Commandant of National Drug Law Enforcement Agents (NDLEA), Mr daniel Onyishi urged increased awareness on dangers of drugs and substance abuse, while Bishop Ikenna Afoenyi of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and Mrs Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri of Spaces for Change called for jobs creations, youths and women empowerment as tools to nip insecurity to the bud.

On their parts, the Deputy National President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Afam Okeke-Ogene and the representative of National Hunan Rights Commission, Mrs Uche Nwokocha, stressed the needs for the government at all levels to stop supporting electoral malpractices, promote good governance and treat all citizens equally at all times.

In a Goodwill message, the Chairman, Anambra State Truth, Justice and Peace Commission, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, who spoke virtually underscored the importance of peace in nation building and development, while governor Chukwuma Soludo represented by his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim argued that the State government was not relenting in nipping insecurity to the bud.

Earlier, the Director General, Office for Strategic Preparedness & Resilience (National Early Warning Centre of Nigeria), Mr Chris Ngwodo explained that the retreat brought together key leadership actors from the region to deliberate on interventions designed to promote sustainable peace, inclusive recovery and durable security.

"The Concord initiative is an indicator of multidimensional peacebuilding measures, and the South East workshop will serve as an inception dialogue for consensus building among key stakeholders stemming from which critical programmatic interventions will be deployed in the zone.

" By emphasizing dialogue, justice delivery, collaboration, economic empowerment and community engagement, this initiative seeks to address local resentments, agitation and youth restiveness, thereby fostering a conducive environment for growth and prosperity," he further maintained.
