Here are some more quotations from Einstein

"I am a deeply religious nonbeliever. This is a somewhat
new kind of religion.
I have never imputed to Nature a purpose or a goal, or
anything that could be understood as anthropomorphic.
What I see in Nature is a magnificent structure that we
can comprehend only very imperfectly, and that must fill
a thinking person with a feeling of humility. This is a
genuinely religious feeling that has nothing to do with
mysticism.
The idea of a personal God is quite alien to me and seems
even naive"

Joshthefirst: ^^^einstein also denied atheism and acknowledged the fact that there was a God. He didn't even want to be classified with atheism.

He looked at nature and saw.

He called evangelical atheists fanatics.(Or something like that)
grin grin grin
He was a deist. Google is your friend.

lana_Vello: besides, just d way u said there are answers to the coconut's water,i bet u thats how bible experts will readily tell u d jonah's episode was as a result of GOD's awesomeness which one can't question.
still that won't satisfy most pple's curiousity
If i cant question it then its bullshiit! What then gives theists the right to question the truth? Theists refuse to wear a thinking cap when it comes to their gods and then become halfway intelligent when trying to discuss why being an atheist is stupid. If only they would use that same intelligence to question their indoctrination, if only.

god is not awesome, he is fucking serial killer! Except god is the name used for the madness that turns sane people to lunatics.

rationalmind: Lol, I'm asking how logicboy n co manages to converse with those theist folks. Read what he said. If ure not an atheist with a new ID, ure a learner. That means, anyone who isn't an atheist already on nairaland is a learner. Meaning, you can't learn anything prior to registering on nairaland. If ure new on nairaland, then ure a learner. That's what the joker was implying.
Ofcourse you can learn new things on nairaland, it s just that the chances are slim when it comes to religion i guess.
Christianity EtcRe: Atheists, Agnostics And Open Minded Persons. by Secularist(op): 8:13am On Oct 23, 2013
rationalmind: Because no one can learn anything outside nairaland. Logicboy n co, how do you people manage to converse with these people?
We are really very simple people to converse with. The problem is this, we have been theist before been atheist, we know where theist stand and understand how closed minded theist persons can be and we simply do not want the long brawl that accompanies such sensitive discussions.

I believe the burden of proof does not lie with the sane of mind.

If a man enters a courtroom with bushy hair and torn trousers, why would i go on trying to prove to such a man that he may not be mentally stable?
The whole of life provides you with the madness that religion has allowed all over. The bible God is more like a petty king with a temper tantrum. I have no debate with a person who cannot see the madness of boko haram or the dark ages to understand that no disease has killed more people than religion has over the ages, or divided more people, or turn physiological sound persons into serial killers.

I have no discussion with mad people.

There is this quote i like so so much

“Stood in firelight, sweltering. Bloodstain on chest like map of violent new continent. Felt cleansed. Felt dark planet turn under my feet and knew what cats know that makes them scream like babies in night.

Looked at sky through smoke heavy with human fat and God was not there. The cold, suffocating dark goes on forever and we are alone. Live our lives, lacking anything better to do. Devise reason later. Born from oblivion; bear children, hell-bound as ourselves, go into oblivion. There is nothing else.

Existence is random. Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long. No meaning save what we choose to impose. This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It’s us. Only us. Streets stank of fire. The void breathed hard on my heart, turning its illusions to ice, shattering them. Was reborn then, free to scrawl own design on this morally blank world.

Was Rorschach.

We have fought so many wars in the name of an imaginary friend for so so so long, i dont expect this to stop soon, but i do believe we can change things dramatically for the next generation of Nigerians. For atheism to thrive one need only bring light to a few flaws of religion to another of an open mind, the rest would reveal itself to them. I believe we must take the pains to indoctrinate the next generation in the truth or run the risk of letting their religious parents alone be in charge of this.

It is funny, to shatter religion all one has to do is look at it objectively.

texanomaly: Hahaha

OK. You and every other atheist I've met here. Its nice to meet you. I do like to research different religions. Interesting stuff.

I do not want to be an atheist, but I am interested in The concept. Several friends have peaked my curiosity. I Am way to emotional to ever be logical I'm afraid.
It is nice to meet you too.

I understand what you mean. Your being eager to learn sets you apart from those who would blindly cut down what they dont understand, and quite frankly if more religious people just listened a bit instead of writing things off there would be a bigger shot at peace in the world.

I respect your courage, i know, i was in your shoe once.

texanomaly: Hmmm...so open minded Christians are not allowed?
Sure. I believe most of us started out as being open minded religious persons. I count open mindedness as a first step of question asking that is often the first step toward enlightenment. smiley

The deist concept is actually interesting. It would have been a much better concept than the MONOTHEISM which according to Gore Vidal is and i quote

"The great unmentionable evil at the center of our
culture is monotheism. From a barbaric Bronze Age
text known as the Old Testament, three anti-human
religions have evolved - Judaism, Christianity, and
Islam. These are sky-god religions. They are, literally,
patriarchal - God is the Omnipotent Father - hence
the loathing of women for 2,000 years in those
countries afflicted by the sky-god and his earthly male
delegates."

One thing that Dawkins made mention of in his book is the almost impossibility of the gathering of freethinkers. He attributed this to the strong willed and independent nature of a person who is almost quite literally going against the tides. Such a person naturally detests authority as at some point they would have been alienated by their family, colleagues, pastor and other persons of authority for their belief or lack of it.

Also such a person would most likely have experienced some form of discrimination. I remember being told by my lecturer that i was a cultist because i refused to fill a religion in some form back in my university days.

We are a considerable number of people that would have to come together and commune with each other, because it is only then that we can help each other through the mess that this theist have created.

Joshthefirst: nope. You're wrong.
He can't help but engage us wherever he goes. Without us, you guys'll be living a boring life. cool
Heheheheee

Without people like you the world would know peace. People like you with your narrow mindedness are the reason for all the carnage in the world, you are the reason the human existence has not moved further. You are anti-evolution, retrogressive and if people like us did not exist you would have all died of some disease or something by now without stressing to find a cure under the belief that your gods are punishing you.

Logicboy03: Yes.

Funny how we find many theologians absent from formal atheist debates.....some of them know the academic bullsheit the holy books are
Word!

How can debate someone who believes he is seeing things you cant see? Where do you start with such a person?

Dude i know you must be real popular here but i would strongly advise you dont engage these guys, it would not lead anywhere.

“When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called a Religion.”

― Robert M. Pirsig

They take pride in their madness because of their number, it has always been like that in different ages under different religious headings.
