seunmsg: Strong points there. This is what I am suspecting..and its my postulation: 1. Skye was in deep shit as capital had been eroded due mainly to very poor risk management practices particularly credit risk 2. With capital erosion, Shareholders funds was already in negative, there is no way they would have enough assets (fixed or current) that will cover liabilities as we would have net liabilities position 3. So the N50bn purchase may just be even fair to begin with... 4. there is no way realistically then that they will be able to pay back the liabilities, it will most likely be written off/forgiven. Otherwise, it will be an albatorss on the bank and may even later jumpstart looking new investors or something Either way, its no easy ride as people may be looking at it. 2 Likes 1 Share |

DonroxyII: My take on this is that it is very likely the acquiree has negative position, i.e. net liabilities; and by extension has negative retained earnings. The bonds instruments you are talking about are liabilities with coupon rates on them isn't it ? So the total cost of acquisition will like be the N50bn cash payment and the liabilities to be paid over time ? |

Enwhen: But how do you think the South can work together ? I don't see it clearly..Tinubu, Starboy (as you call him), then Ameachi... Hard to see a collaboration between these three.. For Tinubu, there is still the dilemma of picking a vice who would not be a Muslim.. who can that be ? I would have expected the vice to be able to pull the northern votes.. but which Northern Christian can command that kind of followership? So, a southern president with northren vice seems to be much easier with Ameachi and Starboy.. But politics is never mathematics sha.. Just one thing can derail the strength a any candidate.. |

With a few changes, they will likely remain in the premier league. The old squad can't likely sustain them, so they must make some changes via some investments in key departments if they must remain, else, the prophesies of relegation will come to pass. |

A generation is dying culturally because values have disappeared and the sad thing is most of these lads never knew better; its the only thing they know and how they think it should be; that anyone not like them is the bad egg. These guys don't care about reducing their bogus costs. They will rather that the country continues to borrow to fund its deficits and transfer the burden to generations yet unborn. They really don't care. They will only pray that oil prices rise again (which is nearly impossible). Even efforts at increasing the revenue base is so flippant. I am not happy to say it, but I really expected much from this government when I voted for them. Things are tight for the country, yes, but the government (FG and States) also have not that they have the mettle to be creative and sacrificial in solving the economic crises that has greeted them. 1 Like |

I read that article and i was blessed primarily because it revealed the hypocritical attitude of many so called Christians in the support of Trump. One cannot be hiding behind a finger. duality: Your views are interesting. I don't disparage them. At all. I believe we are having a matured conversation here. So, let everything come to the light. Comparing this to Goodluck Jonathan I think is a very hard attempt. The first time I voted was for Buhari in his first term because i just wanted Jonathan out, not because of religion, but because it became very apparent that he had lost control of the reins. Nothing else. IN order not to derail this thread, i would have loved to pose teasers to you on Buhari versus Jonathan for you to see surprisingly that Jonathan may not have been better after all despite the challenges the economy is facing right now. If however your observation is not based on the numbers but on ethereal matters, then i rest my case. To begin, Trump has been there for 4 years. How has that worked in your views with respect to what "mandate" you believe he came to serve? How has he spiritually checkmated evil in the to the advantage of the USA? Economically, what has he done that is novel? As a model, how has he impacted the moral and other fabrics of the country? Also lay it bare what he has done politically to the benefit of the US. |

In fact, when you respond to such, you make them animated and kind of giving them a sense of validation. Just let them be. Lots of people have done worse only to turn around. You therefore can, and should pray that the Light of Jesus hit them hard. Such will love Him the hardest in turn. What better fun is there ? |

Emekaonline: Truth is, anything can happen. God can do ANYTHING.. However, that we think we can force His hand and change His will concerning a situation is where many Christians miss it. We don't know His grand plan for a place, territory, country or continent and as such cannot be praying to satisfy our emotions especially when it is not according to His will. The question I ask is, why do these people think Joe Biden cannot be used by God ? Even the devil is a tool in the Hands of God. So, we cannot be myopic to think only Trump has been sent y God when in actual fact, He may have only played on the intelligence of half-baked believers who have not taken time to ask God for what His will is even for what they are praying about. Hence, praying amiss! Needless prayers in the first place. Sitting on the lesser matters of LGBTs, Abortion, and all that can cause you to miss what the real deal is. If true Christians take their place, all of those can be mitigated largely. Trump can pull all the strings he wants, if God does not want him back there, it will all end in vain. So, lets grab our pop-corn and enjoy the malignant Trump and his episodes |

To our friends, brothers and sisters, those who believe they know God or that Trump has a "God-given mandate", well, you may be wrong. See an article by an Evangelical in the US... A striking point from the article is this: "If God can use Trump, then He can as well use Biden" He is God right? What can't He do ? So, we have to stop analysing for God as if we know His grand plan for America or the world politically. As it is now, only if the electors turn faithless in the US, and that is not less than 37 of them decide to vote for Trump, then can he become the President. 37 of them. Michigan is lost, Georgia is certified, etc. Have we even bothered to ask: Is Trump, God's plan for America ? Don't turn your responsibility of correcting the moral decadence in LGBTQs, abortionists, etc., of the earth on government, it is the job of we disciples to do that. If we are losing the war, then it is because our light is not shinning enough. If the US is losing the war against social derelicts, then it is because they are not deep enough, practicing enough, and lacking in enough power to cause a revival and spiritual change. Don't hope a government will change anything, whether republican nor democrats. They are sides of the same coin if you understand deeply what is going on. What we need to do is lose religion, and find our true selves in Christ. It is not religion, that is the opium of the masses, faith-filled relationship with God through Christ is the game changer. Not Religion. Enjoy this article. I may repost it on similar threads. The Final Evangelical Reckoning of Donald Trump By Joe Forrest - Nov2020 After five contentious days, the 2020 Election has been called for President-elect Joe Biden. That noise you hear is Lady Liberty exhaling a long sigh of relief. And, though Donald Trump may tweet to differ, winning doesn’t have to come at anyone else’s expense. But, first, let’s rip this band-aid off. To my fellow Republicans, you can do better. I know you can do better. There are respectable conservative men and women of high moral character that you can rally behind. It remains to be seen whether Donald Trump is an aberration or the “new normal” for the Republican party. Please let it be the former. To my fellow Democrats, you’re not off the hook. There’s a lot of work to be done. Serious work that affects the safety, security, and well-being of the marginalized, vulnerable, and underprivileged. And when the final election demographics are sliced and diced, it will undoubtedly be those people who delivered you the presidency. If you forget them, they will remember. The American people are not tools to be leveraged for victory; for democracy to work, we must believe in the systems that delegate power to those elected to represent us and have faith that those in power will be good and honorable people. To my fellow Christians, we have a lot of repenting to do. I’m not sure what a cultural post-mortem of the “Trump Years” will say about American Christianity, but I doubt it’ll be kind. President Trump may have made the Church more powerful (for a time), but he didn’t make it more loving. I know more people who have left Christianity as a result of the overwhelming Evangelical support of Donald Trump than have become Christians for the same reason. The stain of Trumpism on the Evangelical witness will not blot out without considerable time and effort. Nothing has left me more heartbroken than watching the very people who once taught me the virtues of walking in righteousness unabashedly champion and support one of the most immoral, egotistical, vain, dishonest, and corrupt men to hold the office of the Presidency in modern history. But, policy over personality, right? As Peter Wehner wrote last month in The Atlantic, “By overlooking and excusing the president’s staggering array of personal and public corruptions, Trump’s evangelical supporters have forfeited the right to ever again argue that character counts in America’s political leaders.” An “ends justify the means” philosophy toward governance has no place within the Christian faith; Do not tell me that character matters in my personal life but has no bearing on the people who lead this nation. I’ve made my dislike and distrust of Donald Trump and his presidency very obvious during the past four years. For some of you, that may totally invalidate what I’m about to say next. But, during those four years, I’ve watched high-profile Evangelicals write thinkpiece after thinkpiece defending Trump’s appointment to the presidency as “the divine sovereignty of God” to spite the evil “Leftist agenda.” Let me be clear: If God can use the reigns of King David, King Cyrus, and President Trump in spite of their immorality to bring glory to His name, then he sure as Hell can do the same with President Joe Biden. I know a lot of good people who voted and supported Donald Trump. And they’re still good people. And if you voted for Donald Trump this election cycle, it’s my prayer and hope that you’ll eventually be able to exhale a sigh of relief alongside me. Because you’re free from the heavy burden of Trump’s yoke. This is not a plea to reject conservatism or your values. It’s an invitation to finally walk away from that man and everything he represents. At the same time, Christianity during this period has yielded some incredibly vibrant and beautiful fruit. Christianity coalesced under the heel of the Roman Empire as a religion of “women, slaves, and children.” To see some Christians, especially the younger generation, seriously grapple with the interwoven Biblical themes of justice, liberation, hospitality, and reconciliation have been the most dazzling silver linings of this entire ordeal. Many of you have been awakened to a fresher understanding of Jesus’s message, untarnished by the corrosion of nationalism and populism. I’m excited to see where we go next. Listen, this is not one of those cringey “Now, can we all just get along?” posts. But, Republicans, you control the Supreme Court and the Senate. Democrats, you have the White House and the House of Representatives. If there was ever a time to prove that all that bipartisan “reaching across the aisle and healing our divided nation for the betterment of the American people” talk wasn’t complete and utter bullshit, that time is now. Full stop. Regardless of the final election outcome, We, the American People, are tired of it. We’re exhausted. We don’t want a sequel to the American Civil War. We cannot maintain this level of partisan-fueled ferocity and cruelty. We cannot withstand more misinformation campaigns, conspiracy theories, scientific denialism, social media algorithms, and cultural gaslighting. If we continue at this pace, we will burn down, and we’ll have nothing to show for it but the taste of ashes on our tongues. America is ephemeral. All empires collapse in on themselves eventually. Or, in the words of the prophet Isaiah, “All nations are like a drop in the bucket.” But people matter. And character matters. And it’s time for us to hold our leaders accountable. I can’t tell you if America’s darkest days are behind her — that’s kind of up to us to decide — but we need to acknowledge that calling ourselves “the Greatest Nation on Earth” doesn’t make it true. That’s not something that really exists. Though I celebrate today, I know a Joe Biden presidency will not solve our nation’s problems. But maybe we can start talking again. Maybe we can take a breath and enjoy the silence left behind in the vacuum. Maybe we can choose to make politics less toxic. And maybe we can dream of something better. But we’ll have to continuing fighting for it. For liberty, And Justice. For All Joe Forrest. Sedentary resumes: Again, Have we even bothered to ask: Is Trump, God's plan for America ?
