I do not have an issue with a culture that permits an 18 year old to get married since she is considered an adult (even though in my personal opinion age 18 is adulthood for an american or a European, not an áfrican. The growth and maturity levels are quite different. A 24 year old áfrican is only as developed as an 18 year old european. Yes adulthood should be 24 in africa) However what I do have a problem with is when the suitor is 40 Years older. Why can't the so called 18 year old adult be married off to a 23 year old man? Imagine 54 versus 18! How do you justify this?
