Update from SIGGY .ng

A 19-year-old student of Sito Grammar School has been killed in a bloody clash between suspected rival cult groups at the Seme border axis, near Badagry, Lagos state, Siggy reports.

The deceased named Lateef Agboola was said to have been cornered by the cultists who had been monitoring his movements and macheted several times before being shot at close range last Friday, at about 8 pm while running errands for his mother.

It was gathered that Agboola allegedly belonged to Eiye Confraternity and was killed in a reprisal attack between the suspected rival cultists; Eiye and Aiye Confraternities.

Agboola's death led to the killing of one Umar Isah and the subsequent arrest of another Adam Sule-Ayeni, a member of Aiye Confraternity who was suspected to have masterminded the killing of Isah.

Education / Students Ignore NANS Planned March 28th Nationwide Protest by Seeksnigeria: 9:32pm On Mar 28, 2022
Update from SIGGY .ng

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) had in a statement issued on March 15, 2022, said it would occupy federal roads in the federal capital territory, Abuja, and other states of the federation to air their grievances concerning the ongoing ASUU strike, Siggy reports.

NANS President, Sunday Asefon, made this known in a letter to zonal coordinators of the union. The letter was titled, ‘Urgent Notice Of Immediate Commencement Of Mobilisation’ and dated March 25, 2022.

It read, “Sequel to our ultimatum issued to Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities to find lasting solution to their face-off for our university to reopen on or before 28th March 2022.

“With no hope in sight for resumption of academic activities on our campuses, you are by this notice directed to commence immediately, mass mobilization of students to resume their academic activities on the newly created University of Street, Abuja.

“Students are enjoined to come along their cooking utensils, mattresses, mosquito-treated net and other needed logistics to make the stay conducive as the protest may last longer than expected until campuses are reopened.

“The Coordinator of NANS Zone C, Abah Owoicho has been appointed as Registrar of the New University of Abuja Street and coordinator of the mass occupational protest.“ While looking forward to your swift consideration for immediate action, please accept our regards.”

Today, being March 28th, there were actually no record of protests in Universities nationwide as Students went all calm against the initial proposition of NANS. Taraba State University (TSU) was the only institution with a few number of students trying to stage a protest at the Jalingo Airport Campus, Siggy reports.
