A South African school boy has gained massive recognition online after singing Adele's hit song 'Easy on Me' in front of his school on assembly ground, Siggy reports.

His angelic voice got everyone talking with an impressive number of views on social media.

A talented little boy has wowed netizens with his amazing vocals. The scholar can be seen singing Adele's Easy on Me in a recent video shared on Facebook by Radio KC 107.7FM. His vocal range and voice control are absolutely mesmerising. Standing on stage in front of his peers, the little boy belts his heart out.

Some parents give birth and cater for their kids solely with the intention of saddling these kids with the responsibility of their care when they (the parents) grow old. Plan for your future, young man or woman. Give birth to a number you can properly cater for with love so u can have enough for yourself during your final days.

Or save and invest as much as u can, then go childfree, retire at 45 and die happy! Provided you can find a woman who wants to go childfree too, cos those ones are rarer than unicorns here in Africa. Believe me, I’m still yet to meet one.

A Kenyan father named Gideon Kisira Cherowo has moved to court seeking to have his son surrender 20 percent of his monthly salary to him for his maintenance.

73-year-old Gideon, from Biirunda in Trans Nzoia County, claims that his 48-year-old son Washington Chepkombe Cherowo abandoned him despite having contributed to his education until university level.

In the papers filed at Kitale High Court, Mzee Cherowo, stated that his son does not send him any upkeep even though he is currently working at the Kenya Airports Authority.

Among his four children, Mzee Cherowo said, Washington is the only one who is currently employed.

"I used all the resources I had to enable the defendant to be in a good position so that he can help us. Right now, my wife and I are in a horrible state yet we have a son who is working,” the plaintiff said in a civil suit at the high court.

"I sold my land in Cheptais, Bungoma, to educate him from primary to university. I also gave him a quarter of an acre. I even went ahead to pay dowry for the defendant’s wife, which cost me four cows and some amount of money, whose sum I cannot recall.” the aggrieved father said.

"I pray that since he has a good salary, I request 20 per cent of his salary to be given to me as the father," Cherowo pleaded with the court.

The case could develop into a precedent-setting affair as upkeep is normally reserved for minors and there is no clear-cut directive on how children, who become adults, should take care of their parents.

Mzee Cherowo, in the November 17 petition he filed personally, attached a testimony from one David Masyek Cherowo, another one of his sons, who also maintains that his brother should relinquish a part of his salary for his father’s upkeep.

"The defendant deserted his parents after he got a job. It is now 17 years since we saw him. He does not come or send any assistance to us. We are leading a very horrible life after the defendant consumed the very thing our father had, so as to take him to school,” Masyek said in the statement.

A graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi State Matu Esky has died in an accident on his way to Katsina State for the three-week mandatory orientation exercise of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), his cousin confirmed on Sunday night.

The accident which took the life of the 24-year-old occurred in Jigawa State on November 26.

Esky’s cousin Nuhu Arewa spoke with PUNCH saying, “He was posted to Maiduguri, Borno state for his one-year national youth service but their orientation camp is to hold in Katsina State. So, he was on his way to the camp that Friday when the unfortunate incident happened.

“He boarded a vehicle to Kano State, where he was to board another vehicle that would take him to Katsina. Unfortunately, he did not even reach Kano because the crash occurred in Jigawa State and he died.”

The deceased, who hailed from Ungwan Maryam in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi state, was the firstborn out of four children.

Esky, popularly called Phil Chase, was an up-and-coming artiste who studied architecture.

The Vice-chairman of CAN, Northern chapter and its Chairman in Kaduna state, Rev. Joseph John Hayab have backlashed the National Examination Council (NECO) for not allowing the abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School Kaduna who regained their freedom from bandits, to write their final exams.

Rev. Joseph said that the students had missed their WAEC and NECO final exams while in kidnappers den due to no fault of theirs.

According to him, “these children missed their WAEC, they couldn’t write their WAEC. The Bethel Baptist High School students couldn’t write their internal WAEC, they couldn’t write NECO…Sadly, one of the most painful things is that we reached out to NECO and WAEC and said our children…didn’t commit any crime, they were only taken away by bandits…what can we do since a large number of these children have come back, to write November-December external GCE as external candidates, so that these children would have some sense that, someone cares for them.”

“We must give credit to WAEC, WAEC graciously agreed that we should bring these children who paid for the internal exams and they now made them do a formal registration and capturing, and they are writing the November-December WAEC. as I speak now”.

“But NECO that is a national examination body, didn’t even care about all our pleads. She knows what we are going through. How do you want these children to grow tomorrow and serve Nigeria if a national body that belongs to the Nigerian government will not treat them with love, will not treat them with care? Will not treat them with an understanding of their own?

“So we felt shame on NECO for not showing concern to us. Because that shows that this whole thing we’ve complained about Nigeria will continue. At this time of our need, we suppose to have the care of these examination bodies. But NECO never shows love.”

Speaking further, Rev John Hayab spoke on the plight of Christians, particularly those who suffered due to acts of bandits in the state and accused the authorities of not doing much to free their abducted members.

He said: “I actually call you to inform you that people don’t know that 4 of our children are still with the bandits. But 2 days ago the bandits released one boy out of the 4 Bethel Baptist High School students, that are with them. Actually, they released the Head boy because the Head boy has refused to come back in all the releases. That boy is worth celebrating, that boy is really if at his age he can display that kind of leadership, we are so impressed. But he has fallen terribly ill because of the long time they’ve been in the bush. So the bandits had to put pressure on us, for another money. They insist that for the 4 people we must pay a fresh 5 million per person. “

“But when we made efforts and almost that 5 million was given to them, then they released only the Head boy who actually is weak and down. He has tried, he has refused, that it is only when every student is back, he cannot leave but because of ill health, he had to be released but we had to play money. “

“Nigerians need to know that our students are still with these bandits. The Bethel Baptist High School students have not come back all, 3 are still with them now since they have released the Head boy. They are demanding from us N5 million per Head for the remaining 3. We have paid them a huge sum of money but look at how they are treating us.

“This makes us ask questions. All this shutting down of network, what has happened to it? Have we not used it to track criminals? Have we not used it that these bandits could still keep our 4 children by demanding money from us? Because our understanding is they would’ve been able to track them.”

“So they came up with an unpopular policy that is just punishing citizens and is not bringing any succour to the people. Look at what we are back to, now. So this is the challenge we face. As I speak to you, the bandits that took away the 66 worshippers at Emmanuel Baptist Church Kakau Daji, a week after, they took them on 31st of October, and you will remember on the 6th, Sunday was 31st October, then on the 6th of November, they now picked 5 young people between the ages of 15 to 24, as if they were to release them, not knowing that they had an evil intention.

When they came near home., they opened fire on all of them. Two died, one later died. So we buried 3, and the other 2 who sustained gun injuries are still been treated. But the 61 are with them in the bush and nothing has happened.”

“They asked us to give them food, we did. First, they even refused the food, they later accepted it. Then they are demanding N99 million from us for those 61 people that are there with them in the bush. So where is the security that is working to fish out these criminals? That is the question we are asking.

A final student at the Faculty of Education of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) named Binta Isa has died in the school hostel on Friday after a brief illness, Siggy reports.

The university’s spokesperson, Ramarra Galba, stated on Saturday that Ms. Issa from Kogi State passed away at around 7 pm, After complaining of chest pain.

According to the statement, the university’s health services department said that she had previously visited the new campus clinic on Wednesday and complained of chest pain.

It said she was diagnosed and took some medications.

The agency further explained that the deceased had responded to treatment and attended her lectures and other daily activities on Thursday and Friday.

“However, the roommates were shocked to have come back and met her lying on the floor.

“They immediately raised an alarm and she was taken to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where she was confirmed dead by the doctors.

“The Vice-Chancellor, Sagir Adamu Abbas, along with the University Registrar, Jamil Ahmad Salim, Director University Health Services as well as the Director of Security, Abdulyakin Ibrahim, were all at the scene.

“Meanwhile, the Management of the University has contacted and briefed her brother, who resides in Kano about the situation.

“The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Management, staff, and students of the University, has expressed sadness over the death of the young Ms. Isa, who died in her prime.

“He sent heartfelt condolence to her parents, relatives, and colleagues. He prayed to Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Jannat ul Firdaus,” the statement said.

The Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Charles Esimone, FAS has commended Master Victor Onwuka and Miss Onyinye Okafor, both of Nnamdi Azikiwe University High School, Awka for emerging as the Best Chemistry students in the Federation in a Chemistry competition organized by the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) which held on the 9th of November, 2021 in Lagos.

The competition tagged ‘CSN Secondary School Chemistry Competition 2021’ had two representatives each from the 36 states of the Federatrion and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Master Onwuka and Miss Okafor representing UNIZIK and Anambra state emerged victorious as the overall best in the entire competition in both male and female categories.

Receiving the students and a delegation from the High School in his office recently,, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his delight at the success recorded by the students. The Father of Waliyullah, the UNILORIN student who was expelled for beating his lecturer to COMA, has finally broken silence on the matter. He revealed that his son showed signs of mental disorder a day before attacking his lecturer.

The father, Mr Anuoluwa Salaudeen, said this while speaking with BBC Yoruba.

According to the Lagos-based mechanic, Waliyullah stays with his younger brother, Farouk, a 200-level student, in one of the hostels off the university campus, Siggy reports.

He said, “It was Farouk that called me on Wednesday saying his brother had gone wild and tore his clothes in the public. He said they were both at home and had slept nearly all day after breakfast and continued with their sleep after lunch because they both coincidentally had no class that day.

“But Farouk said Waliyullah suddenly woke up around 6pm, ran down the stairs from their hostel and started to tear his clothes in the public before other students around in the hostel chased him and dragged him back to their room.

“Farouk was shouting on the phone that I should be coming down to Ilorin at past 7pm. But I said I could not make it that night.

“So I got to their hostel around 1pm on Thursday but didn’t meet any of them. When I called his brother on phone, he said there was another development; that when he went to pray his Subhi (dawn) prayer, Waliyullah had woken up and left the hostel with his whereabouts unknown until he was called by friends that he had beaten a lecturer.”

Mr Salaudeen said he was told by Farouk that Waliyullah smoked cigarettes and not Indian hemp, adding that, “I was furious and fought him when I learnt he was also a musician.

“But he told me it would not affect his academics as a plant biology student. Prior to now, he was not a troublesome person at all, hence what is happening now is strange to me. The whole world should please come to my aid.”

Recall that the said student has shared his reasons why he attacked the lecturer, he has been expelled from the institution and remanded in court for his action.

Segun Dosumu, a SS3 student of Eyinni Comprehensive High School has been sentenced to three weeks imprisonment with hard labour for threatening to kill Mr Ismail Fadeyi, his teacher, with a bottle.

Dosumu, the 20-year-old secondary school student who resides at Iboro area of Ogun, had pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him when it was read to him.

Consequently, after the review of facts of the case by the Prosecutor, ASP Wale Diyaolu, the Magistrate, Mr S. S. Sotayo convicted Dosumu of the charge.

Sotayo said that besides the admission of guilt, all the evidence presented in court had proven beyond reasonable doubt that the convict was guilty of the offence as charged.

The magistrate therefore, sentenced the convict to three weeks in the correctional centre with hard labour, but with an option of N200,000 fine.

Earlier while reviewing the facts of the case, Diyaolu had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 23 at 9.00 a.m. at Eyinni Comprehensive High School, Iboro, Yewa North of Ogun.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun 2006.

A very young talented boy in Auchi, Edo state has wowed so many people in a viral video has he built an automated teller machine (ATM) that dispenses cash, Siggy reports.

The machine seems to be an ATM made of cardboard boxes, to distribute cash like ordinary ATMs.

The viral video shocked many Internet users.

People praised the boy’s talent and urged the government to pick up the boy.

The boy’s invention was discovered somewhere in Okuchi, Edo Prefecture.

This was after he pressed some command buttons on the machine.

Many examination halls only allow students to bring writing materials and paper into the examination room, and nothing else is required. However, in Saudi Arabia, the exam hall seems to be a luxurious life for students’ motivation to pass the exam.

Some schools in the affluent and oil-rich Arab Kingdom provide students with ice cream, chocolate bars, a bottle of safe drinking water, beef sandwiches, and other food and beverages Hot tea, and other amenities, to make them feel like kings and queens during exams to relieve anxiety.

It is not known whether providing students with this kind of kingly service will improve their performance or reduce their performance.

This type of service is not common in other countries in so many countries Students only need to report to the test room to find test papers and test writing materials on the desk.
