Olasubomi Olopade, a student of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun state who had emerged the vice chancellor of the institution has celebrated another academic feat as he graduated on Saturday, 6th of November with a first-class degree in law and shared his excitement on social media.

Olasubomi Olopade announced on his LinkedIn wall that he bagged a first-class degree in law from Bowen University, Osun State.

The high-flying scholar sharing cute photos with family members as well as the degree revealed that he recorded a GPA of 4.80 in his first semester at the university.

Recall that Siggy reported that three south african children; Sinothando Ngwendu, 11, Olwam Ngwendu, 7, and four-month-old baby boy, Athenkosi Ngwendu died mysteriously after eating noodles.

Relatives are awaiting post-mortem results to establish what caused the death of three children who fell ill and died after eating noodles in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

The oldest child was sent to a local shop to buy a packet of noodles, which they cooked and ate.

But when they arrived back home in Motherwell on Sunday, November 7, the older siblings complained about stomach cramps and nausea.

The children's grandmother gave them water to drink. But their conditions quickly deteriorated, and they were rushed to a clinic.

Tragically all three died before doctors could help them.

A video which is circulating online captures the moment some final year students narrowly escaped death while celebrating graduation.

The students appeared to have written their final exams and to celebrate, they hit the road in the convoy cruising on high speed.

They could be seen hanging on different saloon cars and moving as one unit, however, an accident nearly occurred as one of the cars abruptly came to a stop causing the one behind it to almost ram into the car.

The car behind was fast enough to match the brakes and avoided hitting the one in front thereby averting tragedy.

But the force of the halt caused one of the students to fall off from the car, fortunately he stood up and appeared not to be hurt.

A final year law student of the Taraba State University, Jalingo, Bengha Solomon, has died in a fatal motor accident just 28 days to his graduation, Siggy reports.

It was gathered that Solomon died alongside his father Ahmadu Solomon and five other persons in the accident which occurred at Gazabu village in Bali local government area of Taraba State on Saturday, November 6.

The accident involved an 18 seater Hummer bus conveying the people that went to Baissa, the headquarters of Kurmi local government area of Taraba State, for the funeral of one late Kum Ndola which was held on Friday.

Report said the accident was caused by burst tyre which made the vehicle to lose control and somersault several times.

Six people died on the spot while several others sustained various degrees of injury.

Meanwhile, friends and coursemates have taken to social media to mourn the deceased student. One Maigida Samson Dogon Yaro said they had discussed about life after graduation. He wrote;

"I remember when we were charting and discussing about our life after graduation. You even promised to come to Gashaka with your own personal car during my wedding. Because we categorically agreed that we will hustle and gather resources before our Law School. You even told me that after graduation you will enhance your Banana and Palm Tree Plantation at Ndaforo, Kurmi LGA

"We are only left with a month to graduate. Just for me to hear that you engaged in a motor-accident and you died instantly. What a gruesome accident. What a gruesome dead. Death why, you took away a vibrant potential Counsel. A young Lawyer in the making full of intellectual momentum and colossus

"What a great lost 500 Level Students. What a great lost Faculty of Law Taraba State University! What a great lost TSU! In totur what a great lost to incoming generation. I am in dark gloom and deep depression."

Something tragic happened today at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) as there was a fire outbreak at the students hostel leaving three female students badly burnt with several burn degrees.

The fire outbreak began at about 7:10am 6th November, 2021 in one of the hostel identified as Murtala female hostel.

In a viral video seen by our reporter, a female student was burnt and cried for help from her fellow students, while others are injured

The cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown at the time of making this report.

According to eyewitness, she said, “University fire services are worsening the situations in the institution, they don’t attend or respond fast to issues.

Another student speaking with our reporter said, “it will take only the Grace of God for the affected students to recovery, the case here is between life and death.”

Aisha said, “I couldn’t withstand what I really saw today, it was terrifying to me. I cried seeing my fellow students parked into fire service Van.

Similar events occurred on October 21, 2021 where female hostel were burnt and properties worth millions destroyed at University of Maiduguri.

Following the heavy protest from students of Tai Solarin university of Education (TASUED) that left Sagamu-Benin expressway blocked leaving thousands of travellers stranded, the Nigerian Army has finally released the Student Union President (SUP) of the institution, Sodiq Ridwan.

According to a previous report from Siggy, Ridwan was arrested on Friday after intervening in a protest by the students against soldiers.

The protest started few minutes after some Army operatives started searching students moving in different cars along Conoil Filling Station, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode.

The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Asefon Sunday has confirmed the release of Ridwan.

He informed other students arrested were accused of Fraud and subsequently moved to the office of Electronic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.

“The President and other student officials who were arrested have been released. Others were alleged of fraud and have been moved to EFCC office at Ibadan.

“If truly it’s fraud, their families should face it out with the EFCC. I won’t get involved in that,” he said.
