Education / You Can Become A Data Analysts And Make A Living by segunphilips(m): 10:43pm On Apr 22, 2022 |
DATA4CASH 1 In this period of gross unemployment, one of the ways to make money is through the acquisition of data analytics skills. There are three key areas you can specialize in, viz; Business Data Analytics, Development Data Analytics and Academic Data Analytics. Let me succinctly position these; a. Business Data Analytics: This is a collection of skills in business data gathering processes, analysis and interpretation for decision making. Organisations have bulky datasets begging for analysts to help desynthesize for informed decisions making. b. Development Data Analytics: This is usually the sole function of M&E experts. They are specialists in governmental and Non-governmental datasets handlings. Skills here are good for project planning, monitoring and evaluation. All of these require data analytical skills at different levels. c. Academics Data Analytics: In academics volumes of data are being generated through different quantitative and qualitative studies by millions of students and academic staff. Experience shows that at least 70% of these individuals usually need individuals to support them in data analytics and parameter interpretations. I have found out that there are very high demand for data analysts across all works of life. Also, I have found out it is a career that can take anyone very far globally. Just like any other professional career areas, interested persons can learn the art or process of doing it. Hello, it is not difficult. All you need is passion for it and the right hands or places to help you through. Mark you, if you desire to be one, you have just shown the world that you are ready to be one of the key recognised problem solver. Ask anywhere, data analysts are the suppliers of reliable parameters for decision making. The good news is, there are now softwares that can help you do a fast job with timely delivery. Excel, SPSS, MatLab, R, Python, STATA, SAS, etc come to mind. My final piece of advice, don't panick. All you need is interest, you can start as simple as possible and graduate from level to level with time. For more on this, lets Chat on 08069517707. |

Crime / Cybercrime: How To Manage Your Password by segunphilips(m): 9:40pm On Feb 23, 2017 |
Pins like "abcdef", "123456" or "mylove" MAY MAKE YOU CRY Well, you may not know this before, but take time to read. My friend's Mum got home after withdrawing a sum of money from her account in one of the of old generation Banks in Nigeria, alas, as she alighted, her phone rang, she picked it and a surprise voice echoed. "Madam, you have just withdrawn...amount from your.... Bank". She was surprised who that could be. Someone also sometimes received an alert that an amount had been withdrawn from his account, on getting to his bank, he was told that he withdrew the Money from ATM.....He argued, shouted, threatened, but eventually burst off crying. Your carelessness with your password may cause more trouble than your dear health can cope with. WHO CAN ATTACK YOUR ACCOUNT?: Please note this, out of 4 most able attackers of your account, which are Family/friend, Tech acquaintance, Insiders (bank officials), and Harkers; your family/friend constitute about 62% of the threat, tech acquaintance, 8%, Insiders, 34% and hackers, 27% (pls note cases of multiple responses). COMMON MEANS THROUGH WHICH YOUR ACCOUNT CAN BE ATTACKED: Careless revelation of your password to Phisers, careless dropping of your bank details at common points for family and friends to see, ignorant disclosure of password to bank officials, solicited help at points of cash collection (ATM, POS) and activities of harckers, forceful release of your password to robbers.. HOW TO MANAGE YOUR PASSWORD: 1. Don't use common words like, "love", "Happy" or your name. 2. Don't use close alphabets or numbers like, ABCDEF, 123456...these are very cheap for hackers to get. 3. Periodically, make it a duty to change your password. 4. Use lower case, uppercase, punctuation marks, numbers and distant alphabets. 5. Use password you can memorise. 6. If you may need to write down your pass word, you must encrypt it in a secret document or safe places in your inner room. 7. Dont tell your bank official your password under any circumstances. 8.And for some of you that use the same pass word for every account, pls desist from it. Thanks, your comments are welcomed. |
Education / Plagiarism And The Academics by segunphilips(m): 11:12pm On Feb 02, 2017 |
Kodus to some Nigerian Universities who have recently frowned at plagiarism at even undergraduate level. Before I flow far, let me expose here to someone what plagiarism means. Simply, it the act or practise of using someone else's ideas, publication, any form of write ups and productions patterns without permission, proper referencing or in a way that positioned the thoughts as if it was originally produced. In academics, there are rules. There are ways research and assignment are genuinely done. But, it is not a common practice in most higher institutions to place high premium on plagiarism, as assignments are done any how with no attached punishments. I 've been involved in several research studies both in local (Nigeria) and international (US,UK) spheres. The difference is clear! Please do know that, plagiarism is well frowned at also in Nigeria, but, the "intensity" is still low. It is way easier to scale through ten researchs in Nigeria than one in UK or US. We need a scale up. I submitted a work to a UK org and it was returned for having a plagiarism (duplicate) level of 32%, that only 20% was allowed. I felt bad, but had to do the needful. In Nigeria, plagiarism is encouraged by many factors which include; the idea of someone wanting to get certificate at all cost, corruption in the academics, the ways lecturers are produced, the idea of forcing a research study on a student, poor political and economic systems, and lack of adoption of necessary checker softwares. Why should we have a student with an assignment downloaded from internet and marked with an award of 9/10, without such assignment passing through a checker-plagiarism detector. That's very bad. Please, donot expect anything different from poor economic performance because, some of our leaders are products of "Copy and Paste". The culture of originality is zero!! Creative and critical thinking is non-existing.Take a scenario of a situatution in which it becomes a practice to imbibe the concept of "back to sender"- Graduates from Nigeria higher institutions are familiar with this phrase. Except for few courses and lecturers, you can easily have "As or Bs" by "la cram, la pour". Nigerian students also understand this. Research study is the only way a student could come up with his own idea, develop it and present it in an uderstandable way for nation building (significance) as guided by a supervisor. But the way academic loads are placed on students and time frame for exams and submission of research works is alarmingly choking and terrible especially at undergraduate level. Though better at postgraduate levels. There are ways to avoid plagiarism. They are simple if one is serious, well trained and technical! However, they could be tasking and hard if one is lazy. It is saddened to reveal here that from experinece, some lecturers themselves are not farmiliar with techniques of plagiarism prevention. In fact, some don't know. Yes! Please do know that, you may not be able to completely avoid the use of someone's ideas, thoughts or materials, but, in such situations you must be sure that; One, proper referencing is done, Two, paraphrasing is technically and perfectly done and, Three, quotations marks are properly employed. As a way out, for the detection of plagiarism in any writeup, please use, "Turnitin", a software for duplicates detection, though this seemed to be very expensive to deploy. Other softwares are, "iThenticate" and other duplicate checker softwares. Remember you need good internet connection to get this done. It is very possible to write and have zero plagiarism. Originality is the panacea! Contact me if you are having any issue as regards plagiarism prevention. Thanks for your time. |

Religion / Re: What Can I Do About Noise Pollution By A Church? by segunphilips(m): 9:22pm On Dec 24, 2016 |
I experienced it also, but partially won eventually after I used 3 out of like 7 possible means. First, I made appeals and that didn't work, intact that earns us a name "Witch". Second, I reported to the Land lord, who warned them and they didn't change. Third, I faced them with direct fight @ 1 am when I started my own fellowship with iron sheet and metals, beaten them sporadically that they all jumped out of there vigil....that works well, but not completely. They started putting "anointing oil" at my door post. When I shouted, they stopped. Fourth, I started reporting them to all their friends and aquintances, sending hot and war messages through them... that further worked, but not completely yet. The problem is, such churches don't have regular time and dates they do programs. They can start in the morning and stop as at 6pm at haphazard days. Its damn naughty! Plenty noise, plenty disturbances. Awkward situations. Dull and dogmatic congragrants. Its really absurd! Now, I have decided to go legal through police if they make any further unpleasant noice (when they heard that sincere threat, they stopped drumming completely, remaining bells and at times noisy deliverance exercise, which were also reduced to bearable minimum). There are laws frowning at that nonsense. Don't mind those that are saying you cannot do anything. If you report them to police, they will summon and interrogate them. Besides, the landlord will be called too and asked on what grpud he gave out the property. Mark you, a lot of them that make such noise don't have registration certificates. They operate illegally. Police will first ask them of their certificate of incorporation and summon all their Board members if they have. But, I'm sure those kind churches don't have such arrangement. It is a church of one ignoramus, who just woke up to say he was "called". Warn them and go legal if they refuse. That is public disturbance. It is not tolerated or allowed under laws. If you are close to where Public Complaint Commission is, go there and report also. They will be summoned. You can also report them to CAN branches close to you. They will check them too, having known that their activities are inimical and anti-peace. Check them also, they can't be a members of CAN. They are on their own. Lastly, don't fear them. Religion is a personal thing. No threat can work. Take a bold step and stop them, otherwise, they will go further than you think. Mind you, they are business people in religious sector. Profit maximisation is there candid target, at whoever expense. Stop them, they will never stop on their own. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Religion / Re: Is MMM A Sin? by segunphilips(m): 2:25am On Dec 07, 2016 |
It is a sin. MMM is a business presentation falsely and deceptively placed. Meaning, it is not a help platform as claimed. It is an online business market where technically, Philip has an online business that makes money from traffic (number of daily visitors) and use Peter (as indirect Robber) to attract Paul (a Robbery Victim) to thread the lines (Visit the market) so as to make profit by using Paul's money to compensate Peter for his efforts, having falsely promised to add 30% to any amount Paul pays Peter . Likewise, use Paul to attract John, by using John's money to compensate Paul and also use that same John to pay the 30% promise to pay Paul and having nothing to lose, but plenty to gain from online traffic benefits. MMM is simply a business with 100% risk quotient built to grow on the soil of human greed. It is a business for the GREEDY! Not for helpers at all. Given all warnings and instructions, that 30% bait nulifies the effects. They are just shields and guards for MMM founder and his agents worldwide in cases of litigations. The greedy will overlook the warnings and go for the bait. It natural and rational. That's the picture. The more traffic, the more the money MMM founder makes. That is his business. He is doing business. Simple! Where it becomes more sinful is the fact that, without the 30% "bait", noone among MMM crusaders will drop a dime for anyone looking for help. They won't even talk about them. How many of them have visited motherless babies home, Prisons, hospitals, etc. Now they are claiming helpers after collecting their 'help' with 30% increase. Deception. How will you help and be having sleepless night before 30 days elapse thinking about the amount that goes into it? How many people would have been MMM Crusader if there are no Mavros or bonuses? Zero. Why must you help before you can be helped? Do you know that MMM is not a platform for the poor? Please think. The only way I can agree that it is not a sin is, if they openly declare that it is a business; but, presenting it as a charity organisation is a scam and fat lie. It is not. Sorry, check your bible, anything that has a feature of hypocracy, greed, foundational falsehood, indirect robbery and deception is a sin. 15 Likes 6 Shares |

Education / Re: What Is The Difference Between B.sc And B.eng by segunphilips(m): 8:25am On Nov 25, 2016 |
fredoricko: This your contribution make more sense to me. But, let's remind ourselves that, while, Engineering is science, Science is not Engineering per se. Science fathers professionalised courses like Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Architecture, etc. So, I guess the tag "M.B.B.S, B.Eng, B.Agric, even B.L are coigned to show/reflect that a bearer has been professionalised sort of. We have similar issues with B.A holders that run 4 year courses and still don't have a cert tag B.Sc. Some of these courses are birth from various application of sciences and other developmental ideas. In fact, common to them is the touch of "not just stay at the lab or class" level, but are practical application to human development. This seemingly informs why some schools now recoigned their courses from just "Mathematics" to something like "Pure and Applied Mathematics", so as to give the outside world (employers especially) the idea that the cert is not just for the classes. Also, let me reveal here that, all of these courses that bare special tags are characterised by longer and field based practicals. Like for the B.Agric thing, for a whole semester in 400L, you are out of classes, but, on the farm, ditto for engineering et al. Further, for B.Agric, we found that that our course synopses encapsulate, pure sciences, economics (200-500L), accounting, statistics, sociology, journalism, project management courses, etc. I guess because of all these plenty areas of study lumped together in a given course of study, but chanelled towards a particular area of life needs, the area of life use and "useables" must be reflected. This is because, its now beyond just being "Science", the-end-class-thing, but, Science alloyed with other developmental findings towards solving a pre-identifed and predefined problem. 2 Likes |
