RomanceRe: Why Do Men Refuse To Eat During Misunderstanding With Women? by segunsd: 9:22pm On Dec 26, 2012
Most times women think all men need to be happy is food (stomach food and sex) but it's a lie. You can't bribe a man who is not happy with you with food. Forget the "man" thing. Kids do it too. I'm not happy with you, keep your food. It's pretty simple. It's the way i show that i'm upset.

Maybe you are a bad cook and an argument is just an opportunity to avoid oral catastrophe. You never can tell Why is he not eating your food?

funny thing is that the kind of fireworks people trigger in my estate almost sound like dynamites. So loud that its hard to decipher whether its a gunshot or not. We dey complain sey we no get money yet we dey burn Naira in the name of fireworks. It's sad for the businessmen who lost their products. It's even sadder that someone will die or get seriously injured. Fireworks should be stored properly. We don't have authorities who inspect the storage of fireworks in Nigeria and the use of them. We use fireworks dangerously in Nigeria against each other. In my opinion, it should be banned.

berem: Lagos island is very notorious for using fireworks indiscriminately.i remember going for shopping some years back during xmas and some miscreants started throwing fireworks right in the middle of the crowd.come see how people start to dey run up and down! Too bad that the storage of these fireworks could cause explosion and fire outbreak.
I'm not a fan of the deafening sound of those fireworks. Hope they can be banned in Nigeria.

mawojuuche: pls hww do i exfoliate n moisturize?
You moisturize by: -Not drying off your skin with towel totally after having your bath. Apply your cream on damp skin
-Use a good moisturizer that doesn't clog pores and isn't too heavy on your skin
-Dry lots of water

You exfoliate by:
-simply adding an exfoliating product to your skincare routine
-Using a body scrub once or twice a week depending on your skin to remove dull flaky skin

girl king: I drink 'cow milk' every other day and I don't have acene. I'm I malfunctioning undecided
Hormonal levels and reactions are different in people especially females and they change with time. That you don't react to it now does not mean you won't react to it later. And No! you aren't malfunctioning. While some people react terribly to nuts, others can finish a bottle of groundnut in a day. People are different in the way they react to certain circumstances/ products/ foods/ drugs.

fonssy: can baby soap be used for the face?
Yeah. Baby soap is mild on the face because of the contents of the soap. However, there are specific soaps for the face. You can also use your Dove/ Olay/ Neutrogena moisturizing bars.

When I use the above, there is this slippery feel on my skin that makes me want to keep using water all over my body till the slippery feeling is gone. Isn't that a moisturing feeling?
Yes Feyintola that's a moisturizing feeling. We are used to having our faces squeaky dry before we confirm that it's really clean.

dominique: By bar soap do you mean toilet soap, medicated soap or laundry soap? I use medicated soap on my face on days I don't exfoliate. Abeg clarify o
Bar Soaps such as medicated soaps and the others that have similar look and feel are best used on the body. Cleansers are more suitable for the face. There are bar soaps that have moisturizing qualities, those are not in this category. This category of bar soaps refers to both medicated, non-medicated soaps that leave your skin dry and maybe irritated after washing. Medicated soaps are to kill germs, they don't remove dead skin cells (which is what happens when you exfoliate).

There are facial cleansing bars. You should use one of them instead.
Fashion12 Evil Things You Do To Your Skin Everyday by segunsd(op): 4:26pm On Nov 23, 2012
You sleep with make-up
This is very bad. Never sleep with make-up on. Don’t even try it occasionally. The problems can affect your skin for a while. This should never be an option.

You wash your face with bar soap
You want to retain that smooth, soft face. Put that bar soap away. While it may be laudable to keep your face clean, using bar soap makes your face dry and irritated. Bar soaps destroy your skin’s protective lipid barricade and leaves unwanted residue over your skin. You should get yourself a facial cleanser.

You never moisturize
Moisture is what keeps your skin soft, velvety and hydrated. Most people assume that their skins are hydrated simply because they have oily skin. This is untrue. Refusing to moisturize even an oily skin leads to clogging of pores. This causes blackheads and a lot of other skin disturbances. It is healthy to keep the skin moisturized twice daily.

You forget to exfoliate
You complain of breakouts yet you don’t believe in the ministry of exfoliation. How can that be? Exfoliating with Glycolic acid or granular scrubs will help to remove dead skins that clog pores. Exfoliating twice a week helps to make your complexion better.

You over-exfoliate
Aha! Because I mentioned that you don’t exfoliate you started to overdo it. Come on! Don’t mix and match too often such as using an acid-based moisturizer and an exfoliating cream on the same day can ruin your skin.

You don’t throw make-up away
This is hilarious. I have seen women who have clung to old make-up kits rather than discard them due to some nostalgic feeling. They ended up running the risk of using them and then reacting terribly to it. Throw expired make-up away. Abeg.

You do not sunscreen on cloudy days
Sun screening isn’t just for when the sun is out there glaring at us. The UV effects of the sun are also there on cloudy days. SPF helps to protect your skins from the sun’s ultraviolet rays which cause skin cancer. Most people forget that about 90 percent of skin wrinkles are caused by the sun. Use a moisturizer with SPF protection every day.

You do not want to sleep
Many people (I fall into that category lack good sleep hours). Sleeping time is an opportunity for the body to repair itself. “If you’re routinely sleep-deprived, your complexion will show it.” Get the beauty sleep you deserve and you’ll wake up to better skin.
You don’t know what’s in your cosmetic
You should. Learn the things that work for your body and things that don’t. Last time you reacted badly to a soap and another time to another cream. Do you have an idea what Zinc does to your skin? Anyway it protects your skin.

You don’t eat good food
Avocado pear contains the fatty acids you need to keep you skin aglow. Add good food to your diet.

You don’t use oil on your face
That you have an oily face or skin doesn’t mean you should avoid using oil on your face. Infact it has been learnt that using essential oils on face kills bacteria that cause breakouts and can help to slow down the rate of oil production from the sebum glands usually as a result of over-cleansing.

You drink too much cow milk
Skin experts have discovered that dairy products such as cow milk can make your acne go worse and accelerate your ageing process. They usually have more effects on women due to their hormonal nature.

Your skin says everything about you and a beautiful, tender skin can go a long way to help you boost your confidence in yourself.

Jokes Etc13 Questions Nigerians Usually Ask by segunsd(op): 1:49pm On Nov 20, 2012
Are you blind?: This question is common especially when you mistakenly step on someone’s toes or hit someone while walking. You may also be asked if someone is trying to point out something to you and still do not see it.

Are you mad?: Are you out of your mind? They mean the same to Nigerians. This particular question usually precedes a fight. It is provocative and is not unusual to find opposite sexes throwing them at each other. The pidgin way of asking which isn’t also uncommon is “You dey Craze?”

Do you know who I am?: People who ask this question have one characteristic. They have loud voices and usually don’t know anybody (mostly). This question is asked to frighten people and make the “asker” win an argument.

Who do you think you are?: A provocative question usually asked by someone who has been bullied. It is also a response to question number 3.
How far?: This is not a question although it sounds like it. They are not asking you the distance travelled. You are only being asked how you are doing. It is another way of saying hello.

Where’s my change?: Most of the time Nigerians prefer to say the word ”Change” instead of “Balance”. Nigerians don’t like stress especially on English words. They prefer to stress their native dialects e.g Chi-ne-ke, O-ba-ni-ko-ro, Ina-kwa-na, Me-se-re, O-ghe-ne-ru-kev-we, O-ri-tse-mu-ji-mi. I bet you don’t understand this. This question is very common and asked by most Nigerians especially when in transit. The bus conductors who prefer to keep mum rather than giving people the balance of their money usually provoke such questions.

Why?: This question is directed at nothing in particular. Our enduring nature allows us to reply complex and awful situations with this word “why”. For example you hear Boko Haram just bombed a city and the response you get is ‘why na”. Really? Are you asking me.

What is happening?: Nigerians like to pry into things that do not concern them or anything that attracts a crowd. E.g some people circle a place unsually, someone comes in to ask “Wetin happen” and the anonymous response is “He stole”. Usually further questions are not asked like “what did he steal?” The asker walks away or joins the crowd.

Has anyone come?: This question is peculiar to Nigerians usually because of the African Time factor. Nigerians prefer to strut in to meetings, events and shows after it has begun in order to show off their glamorous outfits (maybe). It is also rampantly asked among the working class from whom you will often hear (if they are your colleagues) Oga dey office? This is to find out if the MD or Manager or senior colleague is in the office.

Haven’t they paid you?: This question is usually asked by female folks and the respondents are their boyfriends. This is for them to know when they can begin to make those money-consuming demands (Brazilian hair, Peruvian hair, Indian hair, dog fur, leopard slippers, human hair, Silverbird Movie tickets, crocodile-skin bags etc). I guess.

Na you dey feed me?: Some questions don’t make much sense to us in British English, hence the need to place emphatic stress on the pidgin language. This question is asked by an angry person who is probably being bossed around by someone (usually a distant relative) that has no financial relevance to him or her.

Na your papa get road?: I reserve my comments on this question. I have heard it a lot of times. In fact, you will have seen (many times) an aggrieved driver swerve from behind your car (because you had been too slow to move after the traffic light passed you), unwind their glasses and ask you this question. They won’t wait for you to respond before hurling curses after the question (with clenched fists) and sitting back to adjust their seatbelts before speeding away.

Are you alright?: Trust me you are not. If a Nigerian should ask you this question, you should check yourself again. In pidgin you might hear “Wetin dey worry you? If you are asked this question, it means that you have acted or spoken inappropriately. Nigerians know it all.

These are the 13 questions that I remember, in your opinion are they true or false. Are there other missing questions?

PoliticsStop Visiting War-Torn And Hungry Nigeria – Zimbabwe First Lady Warns Citizens by segunsd(op): 3:26pm On Nov 11, 2012
President Robert Mugabe’s wife, Grace has blasted members of Nigerian preacher TB Joshua’s church who frequently fly out of Zimbabwe going for healing and other church meetings.

Mrs Mugabe said Zimbabweans should not waste their money visiting foreign prophets but should instead seek salvation cheaper locally.

Addressing thousands of Christians of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa, ZAOGA, at the Today’s Women Conference at Glamis Stadium in Harare yesterday, Grace referred to Christians who visit what she termed war-torn countries naming Nigerian and Ghana, of which it could be only TB Joshua’s country Nigeria since it is the other of the two which is war torn.

“I really don’t understand why scores of people are putting their faith on foreign preachers. They are having to raise a lot of money to visit them when in Zimbabwe we are blessed with anointed people of God who are able to do even greater things,” she said.

Grace Mugabe’s comments come at a time when scores of Zimbabweans, including Cabinet ministers, are flock¬ing to countries such as Ghana and Nigeria seeking divine intervention.

“It doesn’t matter which denomina¬tion you belong to, we are all seeking one God. Believe in our prophets and stop wasting money visiting faraway countries. In Zimbabwe we have people who, through prayer, can heal you from your sickness and restore your broken marriage.

“People have this misconception that Zimbabweans do not know how to pray. Little do they know that we have a lot of anointed people who are able to help us because they know the environ¬ment that we are operating under. A closer look at the countries which are being thronged by our people reveals that they are torn by war and hunger,” she said.

Grace Mugabe told the thousands of people who attended the last day of the conference, organised by Prophetess Eunor Guti of the Zimbabwe Assem¬blies of God, that she also seeks the help of local spiritual leaders.

“I might be Grace Mugabe of Zimbabwe, but I cannot do it all on my own,” she said to wild applause.

“I go to Amai Guti seeking guid¬ance and she prays for me. The prayers enable me to keep my family and life together. I see God’s power in her and I have come to realise that God gives you people in your life to do certain tasks that you cannot do on your own because they are anointed in that area.

“There is no point in trying to com¬pete or badmouth the anointed because theirs is a gift from God.”

Amai Mugabe added that she also believes in fasting as she seeks God.

“Prayer and fasting have sustained me and I have also learnt to ask God for wisdom every day.

“The book of James 1:5 says: ‘If any of you lack wisdom, let them ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and upbraids not, and it shall be given him.’

“To know what to do require wis¬dom that comes from God,” she said.

The conference ran from November 8-10 and attracted dele¬gates from more than 182 countries. [indepthafrica]

FashionBeautiful Men: Transgender Beauty Pageant Crown Awarded To Miss Philippines by segunsd(op): 9:56pm On Nov 03, 2012
Kevin Balot was shocked to be announced as winner of the 2012 Miss International Queen competition that was held at Pattaya, Thailand. The competition is the most watched transgender contest and it is held yearly in Thailand.

The event in Pattaya, 130 kilometres southeast of Bangkok, is fashioned after the Miss World beauty pageant — with the exception that each of the contestants has to have been born male.

The rules state that the contestants must show proof of their natural gender through birth certificates or a doctor's verification.

Most outstanding among all the gifts that Balot won was the $13,000 top prize.

FashionThe Rules Of Fashion by segunsd(op): 9:02pm On Nov 03, 2012
Hello there Nairalanders,

I’m sure at one point or another in our lives, we have all heard one fashion rule or another which we, as mere mortals, have broken.

“Don’t wear horizontal stripes with vertical ones.”

“Do not mix prints”

“If you are showing your décolletage, you must not show your legs and vice-versa.”

And of course, if you are American, do not for the love of God under any circumstance wear white after Labor Day. I am positive there is a whole Gossip Girl episode dedicated to ridiculing those who break this rule.

I am here to set you free from the chains of fashion oppression, from caring whether your “whale tail”* is peeking out of your impossibly skinny jeans, from giving a rat’s hairy behind about wearing tights in a tropical country. My fellow fashion victims go forth into the light with your mixed prints and coloured contacts.**

Not really, I lie!! Yes, it is true that some of these rules are outdated and impossible to comply with, especially when your mirror tells you how good you look.
However, some of these rules are there to protect us from ourselves: “yes I am talking to you, wearer of amethyst coloured contacts, you are not fooling anyone”.

Some of these rules such as “own classic pieces” protect us from the fickle nature of fashion itself.
It is spot-on that fashion is a true expression of self and in order to express one’s true self, one must not be constrained by rules created by others. This philosophical jargon like most philosophical renderings, has its basis in some form of reality. On the other hand, you must remember; if people cross the street when they see you coming, you are no longer in the realm of fashion. Psst, people think you are crazy.

The ultimate reality, in my very humble opinion, is if you are in doubt about something, it’s probably not the right look for you. Lastly, try to emulate the rules of fashion icons and not the “fashionistas”, it’s like the difference between diamonds and cubic zirconia, it is very clear.

*whale tail: the “ahem” bit of a thong, g-string that either peeks or glares out when a “lady” bends, sits or for some people walk around or even breathe.
**My excuses, coloured contact wearers, I have an inexplicable hatred for them.

Romance8 Things A Lady Should Never Do When Flirting With A Naija Man! by segunsd(op): 8:09am On Nov 01, 2012
Flirting is one of the most interesting weapons of a lady. Females usually use flirting to initiate communication with a guy and show that she is interested in him. However, flirting may go wrong if not done the right way. The following are eight flirting mistakes every lady should avoid;

1. Don’t play hard-to-get:
Playing games or playing hard-to-get don’t work in this part of the world. Our ladies still don’t get it. It may work here and there, but guys with any level of self-
respect will quit chasing a girl who plays games. If you are interested in a guy, show him you are interested or he will move on. Shikena

2. Don’t touch too much:
Touch less. Don’t be too clingy. Guys don’t usually like women who are too clingy. You can hold a guys arm or rub his hair but don’t let it be too often or too
prolonged. It could irritate or annoy him.

3. Don’t talk too much:
Let your mouth do less talking and let your eyes do more of them. This doesn’t mean that your eyes should be gazing or that you look confrontational. You should simply master the art of body language and let your eyes do a bit more communication. This keeps him guessing.

4. Don’t Be Monosyllabic:
Talking less doesn’t mean you should get monosyllabic. Some ladies are bad at communicating either on or off social networks. The conversation style is usually the same. How are you? Fine. How is school? Fine. What are you up to? Nothing. You look beautiful. Thanks. Can we go out on saturday? ok. Come on. This is so boring. Even if you are a natural phlegmatic, you should initiate conversation and try to sustain them.

5. Mind the effing words:
You want to be mindful of what you say and how you say them. Although your intention is to flirt with the guy, coming out with strong words may let him think of you suspiciously. Making a lot of sexual jokes might make him feel that you might be just after sex, except of course the reason you are flirting is to have sex.

6. Don’t dress to kill:
I have seen Nigerian chics who are almost naked in their quest to dress to kill. The flipside of this is that while the guy may keep his eyes on you for a while. He probably wouldn’t feel comfortable walking beside you because of what people might think of him (you already look like a prostitute). You can adorn yourself with those hot, sexy outfits, however cover up a bit. It keeps them guessing.

7. Don’t be a hermit:
Avoid staying alone with him all the time. While you may want to spend a large portion of your private time with. Suggest public places where you can do naughty things such as whispering in his ears and still feel safe.

8. Mrs. Nice girl:
I am not suggesting that you shouldn’t be nice to a gentleman, however, don’t overdo it. Be yourself even if you like the guy too much. Being too nice may make him feel that you are pretending. Don’t be disrespectful.
