Nitel pensioners to be paid in batches,starting with those who were already pensioners before 2006 disengagement

We know how they prey on these poorly informed people and even collect money from them as dues while deciving people with bogus judgement and promises. If you ask them to show you the court judgement that said NITEL/MTEL ex staff are to be paid 20 years Pension Buy out they will tell you another story. Let someone here ask them to show us the court judgement. Sensible people won't be losing sleep over ATEN. Who is ATEN?

I thank almighty GOD for seeing this glorious morning. After verification of all Nitel ex-staff all over the states in Jan 2018 many of us ( some are late now ) were extremely happy then that at last, our silent prayers are been heard. Months after that, there were computations of the verified pensioner,s. These computations took almost 8 months. It finished on Aug 8, 2018. I believe next is payment. Now is when we need to be very calm. Please note that it is when you are payroll monthly that you can press or ask for arrears. You can then ask for 20yrs,50yrs even 100yrs
arrears. They ...PTAD... will listen to you. Let's apply logic and sound reasoning to all our actions at all times. Good day.

I'm afraid this is a false alarm meant to demoralise people unnecessarily.
Was there any time PTAD promised payment of a lump sum ? Even the arrears were not promised to be paid once.
And what else is the purpose of PTAD setup and subsequent verification if not to place pensioners on monthly pensions for life ?
I cannot understand the veiled jubilation in this post as if the writter just returned from Mars and never heard of PTAD and it's assignment from the word go.

Matter of fact, the fact that PTAD took dilligence in verifying NOKs is a testimony that arrears will be paid because they cannot be placed on monthly pensions but only arrears acrued to their deceaseds will be paid to them, though may be in batches as will apply to all verified ex-staff.

I think segzy3 has given us the confirmation as seen from Madam Sharon's response. However, i think it will only be fair for PTAD to pay from January till August or whenever the payment starts. 8-9 months arrears for 2018 would be better than just one month paid at the start. It will mean it will take a lot of time for pensioners to fully get back up financially.

PTAD should please have mercy and make a case for payment of at least 2018 arrears to the approving Ministry of Finance to ease this suffering. The others can then be paid later as she said. God help us

during one of the meetings they had with her,she admitted arrears since 2011 owed to nitel staff but how soon it will be paid is the problem. Check this out

I was forced to ask one of the officers that went to Ptad the reason why the completion is now Aug 7 contrary to what had earlier been said but he said do I realize the no has been slashed to 13k+ and i said yes.he said some disengaged staff have been moved to pencom.he did not really specify.and I wasnt really bordered cos I retired 2004

Some of the ex staff that went to their office recently have been told they will be moved to pencom esp the disengaged.I don't know whether hajia zainab will be affected.this was partly responsible for delay in the completion of the computation

PTAD screened out over 8000 ineligible staff.

8000 were not screened out.but I think they were handled differently particularly disengaged. After computation, the truth will be revealed. I think its connected to the delay in completion

it quit unfortunate that Nitel pensioners are taken for granted. the ES of PTAD categorically said payments will be made after 4-5 month. now its now august before computation can be completed, then payment will be when?
I think the only solution and only language Nigeria understand is mass protest to their office... that's the only way to get the attention of the president because its becoming alarming. people are dying everyday and this PTSD does not seem to care...

I can tell u categorically that a union member I phoned yesterday and told August ,7 was surprised.he said she categorically told them the computation was done with for 3wks now.I smell a rat

The way I laugh at frustrated Nitel workers who were quick to sell their birth rights like Esau believing federal Government had no money to pay them 20yrs lump sum. My question now is, would you say the same thing as at now? But you've all got verified for monthly peanuts from ptad which is not even visible yet after five months of verification. I hope your lives are better now? Fight for what is rightly yours, you wouldn't. We say we have bad government but we have accepted to take whatever trash they toss at us and anyone who stands up for you becomes your enemy. Well, keep waiting for your peanuts as you get even more frustrated. Finally if we didn't turn up for the verification the way we did maybe by now we would have gotten greater audience from a Government that claims to be just and transparent. 20yrs is our right, we can't settle for less after these sufferings and delay else we inherite worse curse than Essau.

nobody will pay us 20 yrs and that's the bitter truth.Nigerian airways workerswho were supposed to be paid over 70 bil had their money slashed to 43bil and a month ago adeosun denied the money been approved by FEC when the memo showed otherwise except fg will pay them tomorrow cos they feel the money is much.all the best

My concern is how much some pensioners will receive as monthly pension cos when u look at some ministries the money is little

FHA and NDA(civilian) verified sept 2017 have both been payrolled & paid,computation of NNN completed but hasn't been paid because of some legal issues which is being trashed out by Ptad with their union.of course,their arrears have not been paid especially FHA owed about 7months cos they were recieving pension up till October when it was stopped but they v been promised they will be paid when budget is signed. we should hope for the best cos some civil service pensioners I know that were wrongfully removed from payroll since 2014/15 have been payrolled and their pension arrears paid accordingly.I believe we should be paid next month but the arrears will have to wait a little cos it has been appropriated for but it is subject to release of money from office of accountant general quoting from the question a nitel official asked madam Sharon via her twitter handle and she said once the money is released the arrears will be paid.patient is the key cos even civil servants cannot be paid more than the end of may without the new budget cos the budget of last yr elapse may 30 this yr.the budget hold the key to our entitlement just like those that will be verified this yr e.g railway etc will wait till next yr after budget passage before being paid.FHA and NDA (700)were paid cos their monthly pension bill is not much comparable to nitel(22000),Nicon/nig re-insurance(1500+),DSC(4000).let's keep praying

We just have to put our mind at rest,halita and co were at ptad office less than 3wks now and were told by madam Sharon that computation is complete.people attending southwest meeting in Ibadan are aware of this.she said it was not announced cos the budget isn't signed and further said what is left is for them to upload the payroll to the payment platform which is gifmis.she said people asking question on twitter etc weren't told anything cos of the development but as soon as the budget is signed work will resume

that is true.of course the total value might have been inflated by the owner but u can have 2000catfish in a pond with average size of 2kg.I.e 2kg*2000=4000kg.I think the average price is #500-600 now.4000kg×#500/600=2-2.4mil.mind u the fish will be a mix of diff kg I.e 10kg,8,5,2 etc.

I believe what you are trying to say is that PTAD said they will pay some arrears from the outstanding years but there is no clear information from PTAD yet on that. What i initially heard was that starting from January 2017 till date will be paid the monthly pension. So going by that, it will be from January 2017 till when the payment starts probably four months after febraury 2018 when the whole nitel/mtel will be verified. But that 4 months after verification far sha o.

I did my verification on Mon at alausa.the team head who was accompanied by a security officer addressed us and someone. Asked the question about arrears(6yrs)and he said it will be paid cos the details has been obtained from bpe but he said if the arrears is too much for them it will be splitted.same thing applies to NAN(will be paid) who are been owed many yrs also he said FHA is only owed four months which will be paid as well.I then asked him how long it will take to get alert and he said at the conclusion of the northern zone verification,everything will be taken to abuja for computation and it won't take long.the other man asked him how can we be sure of what he said,his reply was he is a xtian and he knows nitel people has suffered but it won't be long.he addressed us around 7:am monday

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) yesterday commenced the verification of 22,000 NITEL/ MTEL pensioners nationwide for the purposes of off-setting the pension liabilities owed them by the Federal Government.

Speaking in Enugu yesterday at the verification centre for retirees from the South-East, Executive Secretary, PTAD, Mrs. Sharon Ikeazor, appealed to the National Assembly to speed up the passage of the 2018 budget so that the pensioners would get their pay immediately after the verification exercise as the fund meant for their payment was built into the 2018 budget.

Ikeazor explained that the exercise was decentralised into the six geopolitical zones of the country, including two centres in Lagos for South-West, Enugu for South-East, Port Harcourt for South-South, Kano for North-West, Gombe for North-East and Abuja for North-Central. She said no fewer than 2,035 pensioners were expected to be verified at the Enugu centre in the weeklong exercise taking place at Villa Toscana Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu.
Answering questions from journalists during the exercise, the executive secretary said: “After the verification, we are going to do what we call the computation of their entitle after computation, we have federal auditors who have to clear the payments before we actually make payment to them.

“We have actually told them clearly that payment is not automatic, it will take us at least four, five months to get this payment done because NITEL is not the only one under PTAD; they are part of the privatised agencies that we are handling. Recall that we did Delta Steel and we did New Nigeria Newspapers, NICON Insurance and Nigeria Reinsurance, among others.

“The money that will be paid to the pensioners will be appropriated in the budget, so we are waiting for the 2018 budget, all our funding liabilities are included into the budget so that’s why we are asking the National Assembly to speed up the passage of the budget.

Nitels case is not special.a case is still pending at the supreme court handled by falana.only God knows when it will be presided over.femi falana adviced nitel pensioners/ex.worker to use other means to get their entitlement cos he feels the case may take eternity and there isn't assurance that it will be won.also,that was why halita,mashi and co used babachi lawal and other govt influence to place nitel workers on pension cos nitel reps then agreed and sign for 5yrs buyoutalso govt told halita there was no money for 20yrs.the approval by finance minister includes outstanding pension and Ptad boss admits that.that is y PTAD is working with bpe.I'm sure everyone here collected 5yrs and agreed via the reps,now we are going back for remaining 20yrs after our reps sold us out(reason why we lost at the appeal court) GOOD LUCK!

Nobody is going for destruction and anybody fighting for buyout is living in limbo.even if the judgement is delivered in favor of oluti,I can say it without any fear of contradiction that gov will not honour it e.g dansuki case,udi killing e. tc.we've made up our mind,no campaign after election,I m in love with life pension cos that is what I have on my employment letter.anybody not interested should opt out cos I'll rather use my common sense and see the reality on ground.pension + outstanding pension is what I stand for and I see it as insult WHR some group of disgruntled people( <10yrs) who believe they ain't qualified for pension forcing their fanatical,unrealistic,outrageous preposterous decision down my throat.we all have choices(modern economics).

i think it is part of the arears(pension).

Its trending on ptad official Facebook page now where some agrieved nitel pensioners are saying the ptad boss lied to them concerning the payment duration.about 5 different people testified that she said the payment will be effected 3days following verification during a meeting held in abuja last year and that was y PTAD was chosen over pencom.it was stated that both PTAD and PENCOM bosses were there present and tried to convince the pensioners on which to choose but nitel pensioners opted for PTAD cos pencom payment was installment.

PTAD has not released the official timetable.
