I think its possible. Just call their helpline and put in your request. That email is very important as its a faster means for the embassy to communicate you when they want to give you the go ahead to schedule an appointment

How long did it take for the Embassy to contact you, after your application arrived from the National Visa Centre? And were you contacted via email, phone or by regular postal mail?

If they are already engaged officially, they can't apply for Fiance Visa.

It will be better they get married and then file for CR-1 Visa (Spousal Visa).

Mine took 3weeks. NVC sends out the cases to their respective embassies every two weeks.

The cases must be in their possession first. So you have to call USCIS very early or close to the close of work to know if your case has been sent to NVC after you have received NOA 2.

How I wish I had seen this earlier. You don't need to inform the US consulate to book your interview in Nigeria. Once you get your NVC number you book appointment.

I just wanted to ask this..... What happens in a case where a person comes to the U.S.A with a non-immigrant visa ( from Nigeria) , stays for a while and eventually gets married to a LPR or a U.S. citizen? Is there any consequence in this regards and can the person adjust his/her status before returning back to Nigeria on the non-immigrant visa? Thanks.

It seems your friend travelled with a visiting visa, which has now expired. If he actually has a Green Card, then he will definately have more opportunities open to him.

This is arhayjay (now Zeal2know), how's 'settling in' in our various new states and preparation to leave nigeria for those who are still at home.

The weather is getting cold in most places so be prepared, we all should keep ourselves warm as the Winter season would be new to a lot of us (ki Olorun je ki o barawa mu o- some1 shld please translate in English).

For those in houston, I found out that the IBC Bank recruits twice monthly and they employ even 'new comers', they'll train u for about 6 weeks so u'll b well equipped to work for them BUT the pay isnt attractive at all! (check www.glassdoor.com for salary range), the good thing though is that they'll give you a chance and it's a start! Take your resume to their HO at 5615 Kirby Drive, Houston TX and ask for Shayla White or to any of their branches around you and ask for the branch manager.

You don't need to do any certificate authentification in Abuja. When you get to the USA, any school you apply to will tell you what to do.
In most cases, they will tell you to do an Evaluation of your certificate, by sending it to an evaluation body/ company, and you will pay a fee for that.
So no worries!

Yes. Thank God they are back. I guess there shall be no more crashing again 'cos there has been
a lot of communication gap among the forumites which has resulted in lack of information knowingfully
well that information is key.

I just relocated to the United States precisely California about a week and some days ago with my family.
We have gone to the SSN office and they promised us our social security number soonest. We are still sitting
at home watching movies and I'm tired of being idle. I need work seriously, I mean I need to go out and hustle as a man.
Though they told us that nothing can be done until our social security numbers are released.The transportation system in
Palmdale, the city we are based is not friendly. There is barely public transport around and this compounded the problem
of movement. Anyway, we shall survive it gradually.

Please, I need assistance from fellow forumites on the issue of getting job at least for a start. I studied Business Administration
and have an MBA with some professional qualification such as ACIPM, MNIM etc. I was actually informed that Nursing profession
is quite lucrative in the US. I wouldn't mind going for it but I seriously need to start doing something to get some money.
Your candid advice and suggestion will be highly appreciated.
