Please house advise me. My US fiance will be visiting me soonest. What are the short skills/training I can acquire before she filed for me? I need advise on skills that are in demand in the US that I can learn that will prove I can take care of my family after marriage( u understand that kind thing?) I alrealdy knew how lay block and do plastering (bricklaying). I need more advice and tips on plans. I no want 4k up for embassy abeg.
PS: I'm a first year undergraduate student.
The skills you have are good. It's also good to know that you are currently enrolled in your Undergraduate studies.

You can choose to continue your studies when you eventually relocate to the U.S., and you will always get a job to do when you relocate(no matter how small you start).

Cheers!

You can give them a call during their regular business hours to get an update. Also, have all your personal info at hand at the time you call, so that they can look up your details.

Pls help urgently
I believe the best way out is to send the pictures by regular mail. Just send via FEDEX, UPS or DHL.

You can use that opportunity to include other docs that he will need for the processing.

You can ask about their Express Service, in order to get it across to him ASAP.

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing great? During my interview, the CO said my visa will be ready in a week, ceac updated twice last week, one after my interview and one on Saturday. On Monday, it changed to non-immigrant “application received”. No further updates since then, I do know the mumu june 12 holiday slowed things down. How long will it take. My fiancée is anxious for us to leave. I don pack bags already sef. Thanks all.

Secondly, please if you are having your interview any soon, please familiarize your self with the questions asked during interview. People who had their interviews today both said COs were tough( they both used the word “brutal”) and only God made it happen(they changed one CO at the late hour). It isn’t a walk in the park. You can go on vj and go to the Nigerian section and familiarize the questions, some reviews are on here too. Good luck to everyone.
Hi,

You should be getting your visa very soon. Just relax & enjoy the moment.

Cheers!

Hello house, first time poster here. I was wondering if anyone here knows if it's faster to get a Nigerian passport vs a Nigerian visa. I have an expired Nigerian passport. I would be looking to get either for myself and 3 year old daughter and we would be applying from Denver Colorado. I would really like input from those that have done it .
Many thanks in advance.
Hello,

Getting a Nigerian Visa is much faster and it will be for a 2-year period (Visiting visa-multiple entry). You should get it between 1 week or 2 weeks.

However, getting a Nigerian Passport may take like between 3-4 weeks or even longer (depending on the Consulate). You can ask to do an Expedited service. The Passport should last for 5 years, as minimum period of validity.

Cheers!

Thanks for responding. Please How long will this K1 route/process take if he puts in for it by this June & also considering the fact I have a valid B1/B2 Visa, hope no issue with that
Hello sandraigho,

You should be looking at between 8-10 months for the process to be complete.

Not too sure if your B1/B2 Visa will be of much significance in the K-1 processing.

Cheers!

Drenimarcus:
Thanks man! Experience goes as thus.

Went through the normal protocols of security. Then went inside the embassy and waited for probably 5-6 hours? So be prepared to wait. Got there 5:20 and I left 2:10. My appointment was 6:30. 2 COs were interviewing us immigrants. One was a white and the other was a kinda Pakistani or Indian. The Asian guy already denied 2 people due to them not knowing their fiancés well. 2 were told to bring additional documents. The non- immigrants interviews were done and I could say only 6 people were given. About 10 minutes, I could see the Asian guy checking my file. Called my number and interview goes thus;

Who is petitioning for you.
When did you meet.
Where did you meet.
How did you meet.
Was she previously married?
What date was her divorce?
How many kids?
Does she stay in a house or apartment?
How much is her monthly salary?
How old is she?
How old am I?
How old are her kids?
How many?
How many times she visited me?
When is she going back?

After typing and all bragado. Man said all looks fine, gave me 2 papers, one for pick up and rights as a spouse.

Ran out cos my fiancée was out waiting for me and she was tired. Kissed her 10 times.

My advice, please know the important dates. These people are ready to approved, interview is just mere questioning. Thanks and God bless. To those who have their upcoming interview, stay confident, look them in the eyes. Before I left only 2 people were denied out of 20.

Hey guys I would be traveling to Nigeria on my expired Nigeria passport. I also have my American passport. I paid for the renewal of the Nigeria passport but the embassy did not have the paper. The closest embassy to me which is Atlanta don’t have it. But they say New York does but I can’t make it to New York which would take weeks as I have an emergency travel. I wanted to know if anybody have recently done this in the last few months and what difficulties they faced. I called the airline they will board me so that isn’t a problem. PLS KNOWLEDGEABLE ADVISE welcomed.
Hello Kyankee101,

Your best option is to apply for a Nigerian Visiting Visa, which will be stamped on your American passport. (Or get the Emergency Travel Certificate).

Go online and check for the "OIS Services" page, they are the official partners of the Nigerian Embassy in the U.S., and they will forward your application to the Nigerian Embassy in Atlanta.

Cheers!

Is it compulsory that u must have met your fiance/fiancee only once before interview. I need replies pls
Hello innken,

Yes, you must have at least met your Fiance/Fiancee once. This will definitely prove that you both have an ongoing relationship. If there is the opportunity, you can even meet more than one time.

And yes, some people have been approved for the K-1 Visa, with just one visit between each other.

Also make sure you take pictures together as well (before you file your petition & send with other docs).

Cheers!

Hello Good day to everyone on this thread...

Am so glad to be here...

We had my F4 Interview and the consular officer said we are all good but we need submit a signed I-864A form along with our passport...

So today my MuM who is the principal applicant , Her visa status changed from Administrative Processing to Issued..

But me and My Brother who is the derivative Applicant visa status changed from Ready to Administrative Processing yesterday and the date was updated today...

My question is why are they delaying our Visa issuance?? Since we are one Family are we not meant to see Issued together?? Please I will appreciate your advice!

Thanks.
Hello Frankele,

You need to relax a bit. Rest assured that your Visa will be issued.

Just give them a little more time and it will all be sorted out.

Cheers!

hello guys.... We just got an email from the UsTraveldocs Document Collection centre... That our passport is ready for pick up... But what is confusing us is that can the Visa be issued without the CEAC visa tracker changing to Issuedhuh

Please i will appreciate your contributions
Then simply go and pick it up as instructed.

I had no issue whatsoever at the Lagos Airport. I flew using Fly Emirates with a one way ticket. The only documentation checked at the Lagos Airport were my flight ticket and my passport with the K1 Visa.

However you'll need to keep the parcel given to you by the embassy in your backpack at all times as it would be needed when you get to the States.
Hi,

What was your experience at the POE, especially with the Immigration officials?

Hello everyone, been awhile. Just wondering where una dey?

So we got our visa approved today all glory belongs to God Almighty.

It all started with a 3am wakeup alarm. Bath the babies. (My son had his shower yesterday night so it was easy for us this morning as he just brushed his teeth, rinse his face and dress up so as myself and my mum.

We left home around 4:24am and got to the embassy car park around to 5am. (The car park opens 5:00am ish.)

Waited at the entrance till around 7:00am before they started calling non immigrant /immigrants in.
We were scanned at the point of entry before going in and were directed to the computer section and are given nos.

The officers directed us in and were called upon to submit my documents
1. Passport
2. DS 160
3. Affidavit form
4. Birth.cert. (copies)
5. Tax
6. Passport photos e.t.c

Took our fingerprint and wait for our nos.to be called.

After like 2 and a half hrs, we were called and this was our coms.below;

Me: good morning ma'am
VO: good morning
Who.is the person waiting for you?
Me:.my.fiancee
VO: How and were do you meet?
How many times have you seen in person ?
Where and when?
Do you have pics to show me?
Where did you take this pic?
You have kids for him right?
Can I see their birth certificate and US passport ?
Me: no I did not bring it since I am the one having the interview, I actually thought you would have same on your system.
VO: you should bring it along in case of next time.

Questions continue
What does he do?
Has he ever been married before?
Tell me about his life over there?
Show me pix of your son since baby till now.
(She keeps typing all along ) and the next thing I heard was i have approved you. Issued me a white paper and asked me to wait 5 working days for me to get our passport at DHL office here in VI.
We said thank you and we left.

He has done it for me x2

[quote author=bojar post=77049063]I was approved today.

Questions asked

When did you first meet your fiancée ?
How did you meet her ?
How many times has she visited ?
What does she do in the U.S ?
Have you been married or had kids before ?

The CO was friendly, she asked for any recent pictures, Which she glanced through just a few of them..
The interview was seamless and took just about 3mins..

Guys, I'm now in the States cheesy

I entered the States (Dallas Fort Worth) with a one way flight. Was anticipating having issues with the airlines and was ready for them. Was ready to lecture them on what K1 Visa means, lol. But I didn't have any issues at all.

I made sure my medical envelope was in my backpack. When we arrived, I was directed straight to the CBP guys who took the envelope and tore it right in my very eyes. I was directed to a room to wait. I met like 5 guys there. After a while, it was my turn and they gave me back my passport along with a yellow form (I think it's for agric quarantine) and took me straight to the luggage section where I'm to claim my luggage. Was told to go straight to the agric section once I get my luggage.

Luckily my luggage was not searched. Was only asked if I came with fresh seeds which I said no. I only had processed food which have been partly cooked and/or grounded. So they just passed my luggage through an X-ray machine and let me go.

And that was it! My finacee was waiting for me on the other end. It was so emotional for me.

Thanks guys for the active participation. I promise to still keep in touch. This visa journey is a continuous one. Will always keep you all updated. I enjoin us to do the same too.

Regards.
Nice one there! Welcome to the States!
