You need to tell your Fiancee to get a joint Sponsor from over there in the U.S.A., it seems you have been put on Administrative Processing(AP).

The Joint Sponsor can either be a relative or a close friend of your Fiancee. Try & do that ASAP. Not sure if there's any other alternative.

No they won't ask for any birth certificate. They will only ask for the envelope which will be given to the person after the interview at the embassy.

The Birth certificate is needed for the processing of adjustment of status.

If I might ask, isn't the birth certificate from the local government issued in conjunction with NPC? I am just asking because I know NPC has offices in all Local Government.

Maybe the Birth Certificate from Local Government might suffice after all. But getting birth certificate from NPC is not that difficult. Just that you might have to part with some money. I recommend you go yourself to NPC main office in Surulere. They will request for your passport, affidavit. Affidavit can be done by them for a fee. To do the affidavit, they can request for your parents passport and signature (affidavit from parent) or can request for just yours (self affidavit).

If you were born before 1992, they usually issue attestation of birth and not the actual birth certificate. But those after 1992 don't have problem. I was told NPC can issue birth certificate for those before 1992 if you discuss with them. Submitting only attestation of birth to USCIS is not advisable.

The fee you pay to NPC is usually in the range of 8,000 or more. No receipt is issued......which is very sad and unfortunate.

So for the K-1 Visa holder, when he/she arrives in the U.S.A., will the Authorities ask for the Birth Certificate from NPC? Or will he/she need it for processing the Adjustment of Status or to process other documents?

To your question, there's no problem if your birth certificate has only two names. My original birth certificate also has just two names. However I advice you also get a birth certificate from the Nigerian Population Commission (NPC). I hear that document is useful especially when you are in States.

What's the process of getting a new Birth Certificate from the NPC, especially when you already have one from the Local Government Area? And will the new one be back-dated or be a current date?

Guys, I was approved!!!

I'm so grateful to God for his mercies and blessings. The interview in itself was very brief. None of my documents or pictures was checked during the interview proper. Was just asked questions on dates. Questions like.....when did we started talking, when did we see each other in person, when did I propose. It was a smooth sail compared to the way others were grilled.

There were over 40 of us, but only 2 (that I'm aware of) were outrightly denied. Several were placed on administrative processing (visa wasn't denied though). They were given back their passport and requested to provide additional information before their visa can be issued. However many were approved at the spot and their passport retained for visa stamping.

Even though my interview time was short, I was there from 5am till 12noon. This is despite the fact that my appointment time read 6am . The reason for this was because they gave priority to family members with little kids and elderly so they gave them numbers before me even though I came before them. Also another reason for the delay was because only 2 consular officers were interviewing us. Before each interview, the consular officer will go through the file thoroughly before he or she calls the applicant. It was a tiring wait but a fruitful one and I bless God for everything.

My advice to those going for the interview, just be yourself. You have nothing to fear as long as your relationship is genuine. Your fiance/petitioner, who is an American citizen, has every right to love and get married to anyone of his or her choice, whether a fellow citizen or an alien.

So relax, your fiancee chose you, so you will get the visa. Just get all your documents and commit everything to God.

I don't think it is advisable to show them your introduction pictures. I think that automatically qualifies as an official ceremony. And you should not be "married" in any way as at now, since you are filing for a K-1 Visa. (such pictures are better for a Spousal Visa).

Just show them your pictures together at different locations. Avoid pictures where you are also dressed in the same attire.

We did about 4 months in a dating app which I have deleted beacause I didn't see this day coming. Now on Facebook and we have been here for about 11 months

In addition to Facebook, you can also communicate via WhatsApp ( both texts and calls) and also call via your normal phone numbers, once in a while.

Then when you meet physically, take pictures together at different locations and keep all receipts from travels(boarding pass), restaurants and lodging.

The Embassy/Consulate is not closed. It's not affected by the Government shutdown.

It's only the American Centers (i.e. the Research facilities etc.) that are closed.

Interviews are currently been conducted and visas are been issued.

You don't need to wait for any other documents/package, as long as you have your Case Number and you are able to create an account online as instructed from the Embassy.

For her to stay for seven days is not too bad.
How long have you guys been communicating before now? You need to save all those Chat Logs and FaceTime you have both done.
There some people that got their Fiancee Visa with just one visit. Some cannot visit more than 1 time due to work and school schedules. But as long as your relationship is genuine, you should be good to go.
Also, remember not to do any official ceremony when she visits, if you are going to file for the K-1 Visa.

I will advise that you dress formally. Wear a suit and tie. It will make you look more responsible and neat.
