Culture / Re: Games You Played As A Child? by senetee(m): 1:18am On Mar 21, 2008
Interesting,
ok my list,
the vroom chase(boring to some) arranging 3 slippers per participant, using them as vehicle pedals i.e accelerator, clutch and brake. We would mimic engine sounds and use a chair and a round plastic cover as the steering wheel and use our shoulders as body panels hitting the other participants car(body shoulder) like we were in a car chase. -- me n my broses loved motoring then.

ludo

hide n seek

next - 5 a piece neighborhood football using health balls

bicycle race even with no brakes with our feet as substitutes

much older in jss imagine oo-- BIRO GAME - wrestling pens on table tops

Then came the nintendo era - Game boy with the green screen. Had wonderful games like Motorcross Maniacs, Zelda, Snoopy's magic show, MK, Super MArio Land etc

Also table tennis ,aah i was a local champ, which was promptly disassembled when my school results became ugly.
Autos / Re: '99/2000 Toyota Camry, Leather, Auto, Climate Control Ac: Very Cheap. by senetee(m): 9:45pm On Mar 18, 2008
In business, it is true that the customer is king and i believe their feedback is highly valuable in assessing a service rendered. However cheap name calling is ungentlemanly and should be avoided. Bargaining should do the trick of getting a good price. If the price of the good is actually high, people will eventually avoid the supplier and drift to the best bargain provider. Afterall, the toks auto business is not monopolistic.

Keep up the good work inspired and don't take every comment too seriously, i bet you meet and will still meet more difficult customers.

Career / Re: Nigerian Degrees And Work Experience Are Disregarded In America. Why? by senetee(m): 4:58pm On Feb 11, 2008
Come on people, calm down, lets not allow this thread degenerate into an insultive one.

Well, i know this former classmate of mine who worked with an international consulting firm right here in Lagos, won visa lottery and actually got a place in the US parent firm. Although cannot really say the level at which he joined, i do not think its a less befitting one as his travel fees were taken of by the US arm.
His credentials include a second class upper social science degree from a federal university, ICAN qualification and about 3 years working experience.

Just my little contribution

Cheers

@rasputinn
@ Hope,if you "bought" 3,500 units of Dang flour, then your allotment is 25% which translates to 875 units. So of the 52,500 you paid, your returned money, plus the tashere interest will be between 39,375 and a little over 40,000.So I don't know the broker you used but go(DON'T CALL) and meet him NOW.Accept no stories

Biko, i bought a similar amount from a branch of oceanic bank, how does one get the refund as i did not buy from a broker. Thanks

There is one at FAVOS buiding, opposite SS Peter n Paul Seminary, along UI-Secretariat road in New Bodija. You cannot miss it as the buiding is quite popular. If i remember its on the third or fourth floor. There is another at Ring-Road but cannot be precise about the address.

Try googling it too.

Career / Re: Human Resource Professionals: by senetee(m): 1:31pm On Jan 04, 2008
Wondering , .
why are so many folks crazy about having a masters from the UK and US, resigning from their current jobs(some ok jobs eg banks & computing firms) to spend huge sums to acquire a degree?
Some do come back to the country to pick up jobs here. Can't imagine me being offerred entry-level packages after that hustle, i mean its not cheap.

What do you guys think?

Five Gbosas(kindalike thumbs-up to you and your co-travellers) for such moves

I suggest you visit again around december to catch the Cross River festival

Cheers
Music/Radio / Re: Talking About 'Asa' by senetee(m): 5:15pm On Dec 23, 2007
After listening to all the crappy news e.g corrupt politicians, armed robbery attacks and weaving through the crazy traffic around town, all i yearn for at the end of a tough day is to listen to cool, soothing voice of Asa.

I hope her material is being promoted in western countries in fact all over the world.

I believe the album is world class. . . To club jams folks, please take out time to listen to at least the first 3 tracks.
warning - u will be hooked.

Can u imagine how addicted i am- i'm outta town now n i can only listen to the cd via my car player n that is a primary motivation for driving around just because i want to listen to her.
Career / Re: Masters Degree Or Work Experience To Work In Nigeria by senetee(m): 5:40pm On Dec 19, 2007
If i were an employer in naija , i would actually prefer job experience but when you consider one or two years experience capped with a qualitative masters from a good university abroad which i believe is far more efficient and industry relevant in content that sounds like a good idea.

So eventually i would pick candidate A cause he's got both even though no. of yrs exp is lesser than the Bs.

Hello Pple,

On the Afrinvest issue, i think their services are ok. My mails to Susan are always replied sooner than later(Unlike the folks at Lead Capital).

Although i just started using their services, i think my few orders to them were executed quickly. Well, until they do otherwise, i think i would recommend them.

Well, that is my opinion about Susan and Afrinvest.

Please Could anyone advise on this situation. An individual abroad owns these stocks.

Hello people,
Kudos to you guys for sharing this info. Could you shed some more light on how the Career thing works e.g who qualifies to attend the fair, what Nigerian companies participate in the fairs, tests interviews etc.
Thanks in anticipation of a response.

Autos / Re: Honda Baby Boy Or Toyota Camry(slim Light) by senetee(m): 11:20am On Sep 07, 2007
4 me
I love the babyboy's styling very much, bold styiling cues, spacious and ofcourse with vtec revvy engines. Hondas seem to always look cool even when they are old eg: 1990 accord(when well maintained)
Problem with the babyboy is it seems some its panels seem to look ugly when dented.
On the other hand, Toyotas are very durable and sturdy, always well made but their model line-up always seem to please and not excite and thus would actually recommend them to any old folk or use as an official vehicle.

Summarily, since i treat cars with a lot of care and maintenance, would go for the babyboy for some fun but if you just looking 4 a respectable and durable guide from point A - B vehicle go for that Camry.
