Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Peopleprime Test by seniorak47(m): 1:36pm On May 10, 2007
Hello all, Kamsi just confirm my fears about the fate of the 12 o'clock batch of 9th may 2007. I think we should just forget it, those people will keep to their words unless a miracle happens. Happy job hunting for my fellows affected, its such a lose coz i would have boasted it was my best test so far. God dey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all, I had my own about 2hours ago. I can't agree less with you on the splendid job those guys did out there. Kudos to them all.

However, the same thing may not be said about some disgruntled elements, supposedly graduates and Nigerian future leaders. Some people in my batch of the test actually left the test centre with the tests' question papers. Two copies were missing and half of the class was subjected to physical searching. I think 1 was recovered in the end, but am not so sure!

The consequence of this is that; there is a very high possibility that the test of 12noon - 1pm held in lagos today may be cancelled. This will make over 500 innocent, pure, and hopefully successful candidates lose their slots and thereby the job opportunity.

I weep for the future of this country if we continue this way. The same set of people who perpetrated this act would still have the guts to condemn OBJ and his crew forgetting that you cant give what you do not have. In short, an average youth in our generation lacks integrity, conscience, and faith.

If you were in that group affected, I will only reccommend that you put less hope in the outcome of todays test; the possibility of its consideration is very very low!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Such is life! Life must go on! The best is yet to come! Keep the hope alive! GOD bless

@ lionidis, am sorry to say this but, you strike me as someone who is unrealistic and hasty with your statement; 'a bunch of cynical and desperate people'. This is a forum were cultured people are meant to rub minds hence, my condemnation of your tone.

However, apart from your passion, enthusiam and all what nots for a particular job, the pay does matter too. Infact, what would you say of those already employed but still applied for this job? As regards whether or not a prospective employer knows about this forum and therefore may inquire about its usage from an interviewee, is saying the obvious. The Gfair posting on this same forum to clear some doubts is enough evidence. You talk about the future of this country, is there any legal, moral or religious inhibitions to earning as fat as possible? Would you rather earn less if there is a genuine avenue to earn more within the limits of the law? I think you need some re-assesments yourself, if you want to go far in this small world!

All nairalanders, please do not mistake my response for over-reaction (as contained in the words of my friend @ lionidis) but as a necessary answer to an over-righteous view. There were instances during interviews when employers have asked what would a prospective employee be willing to accept as pay, if we do not share what we know on this forum about such issues, may be some would bargain more or less as the situation may be.

I will conclude that @lionidis is one of those we experienced back in our various colleges who hid information from their colleagues thinking it gives them an adge above others. I stand to be corrected or better still HE or SHE proves me wrong by giving us contrary reasons not to conclude thus far.
Career / Re: How Much Do Micro-Finance Banks Pay At Entry Level? by seniorak47(m): 2:37pm On May 06, 2007
Microfinance banks operated as non-profit outfits pay quite high, especially those funded by international donors or partners. However, the experience of a friend who worked for a now defunct MICROCOWRIE in Ogun state was pathetic. The new generation of microfinance banks as recently licensed by the federal government have potential to pay relatively well but, not in the range that commercial banks do. Lets say between 40k and 50k per month. Please, note that the total take-home pay of some new entrants in certain commercial banks are not significantly higher than this. A friend with Fidelity bank for instance takes home a bit over '50k' according to him. I will advice you to be more specific with details of the microfinance bank so that anybody with specific info can help! stay blessed

Hi Kuwena, as I mentioned previously, am also still in the search for a job and NLNG happens to be one that would over-satisfy such dream. In response to your poser, the pay packet for NLNG about a year ago was #3.5m per annum for entry level amounting to 290k plus (i hope my maths is right?). However, a friend recently confirmed that the pay is higher now to about #4m or so per annum. I am aslo aware that a friend who just joined Chevron (not at entry level though) with a local oil and gas related experience for a minimum of 2years was offered 850k per month. I am also aware that NLNG contracts the health care related services of their staff to the best hospitals in the country specifically; 'First Consultant Medical Centre, Ikoyi, St. Nicholas Hospital amongst others. Even if Chevron pays more than NLNG at the entry level, the patrotic angle could help as a response while I expect to gain more from the house on a better answer.

The training for new intakes at NLNG is done in the US, UK or Germany though other players in the industry have similar packages. Finally, I am of the opinion that responses from other esteemed nairalanders would go a long way in equipping any of us that finally make it to 'ELDORADO'.

Have a nice weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Kuwena, to your question on my course of study, the answer is URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNING. As for Kano, forget it, am back in Lagos. However, if its NLNG, then am game. I wish you and the rest of Nairaland users the best.

My response to your poser would be as follow, however note that I am not an Engineer by profession. Hence; I will like to work for NLNG rather than mobil, chevron, or shell first, because it offers a larger platform than any or all of these others. why? the structure of NLNG is +/- 45% shell, elf, and total. This means that NLNG gives you an insight into and a leverage over any of the aforementioned outfits. Two, as a patrotic Nigerian, my country comes first. working for any of these others in the same capacity as is required by NLNG is 'tantamount to a low level of patrotism' (personal though). Three, with the longterm vision of NLNG, mobil, chevron etc may still come onboard owing to the fact that 'gas economy' is the next level in Nigeria's quest for a sustainable development.

@ presjany, my email is senior4real@yahoo.co.uk, you may wish to add me to your network. Thanx for the compliments

Here is my own opinion on the question; hence, I need to raise some basic questions to clear obvious clouds.

1. Does NLNG operate local (domestic or consumer) market or international/corporate markets. I am aware that presently, NLNG source for corporate customers abroad. Recently, Brazil owned 'petrobras' signed a deal with NLNG to buy LPG/LNG from Nigeria.

2. Do we have access to NLNG's account book? How has it performed profit, sales, and growth wise in the last couple of years. We may need to know these to be able to answer this question in an informed manner.

3. Are you thinking of introducing or suggesting a new or hitherto unexplored market sector to NLNG? Lets look at this scenario; if LPG is to be distributed to households as alternative to other cooking fuel sources, it portends prospects for the company in many ways namely. (I) Environmental friendliness and saving environmental cost due to the cleaner nature of LPG as an household fuel. (II) Population of Nigeria can support any market in as much as the product is of great need and benefit. Give the telecoms example to illustrate this point. And numerous other reasons

4. Do you want to consolidate on the existing target market of NLNG? Why? How? You need to know that the infrastructure used by NLNG are capital intensive. The longterm goal of the company is optimise the excess and hitherto wasted deposits of natural gas in Nigeria for both econonmic and environmental advantages.

We need to research into this company more for good responses to this likely question. Please also note that the thinking in the corporate world today is not about right or wrong answers but rather how the idea is communicated, to achieve optimal attention of the listeners.

Thank you, while we expect more tasking posers like this. It is a good job, you guys are doing here.

Hi, @ oayombo I think you have to look through and see that vacancy does exist in their Nigerian outreach. I am at the numeracy test stage. To all wishing to apply, ensure you have a backup power supply incase phcn decides to,

Hi all. Kuwena let me bring to your notice that the notice/disclaimer posted on NLNG website as your rightly noted, however is not a recent posting. It has been there for almost six months (i think even b4 the october advert for this recruitment process). While not ruling out the possibility of fraudstars trying to cash in on the situation, you may have to treat all and each comment on its own merit. Thank you. Very soon the truth shall prevail. One love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Pattiano, as much as I share your curiousity for such outcome, I sincerely believe this thread should have been posted on another forum like Entertainment. Thank you and please take note!!!

Hello fellow NLNG hopefuls. My prayers are that 'God in his infinite mercies should not allow our efforts to end in vain, Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!' However, I think I have a totally different ext. from all those mentioned so far on this thread about the same issue. My thinking about such possible discrepancy is that probably, the exts. are relative to test centres and/or dates. For my centre, Eko Hotels and suites, Lagos (12:00noon); 2nd April, 2007, the ext. given was 4114. Keep the hope alive, one love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx a bunch Lush. To Creamdoll, I also applied 2 days after the advert about two months ago. I had lost hope when I did not hear from them after I sent my CV on request to them. However, about ten minutes ago today 16/4/2007, I got an SMS asking me to check my box and bulk message too for uurgent info. I believe you just have to wait and pray while not losing hope. Best wishes to all in this our search for the , ?,  'Ultimate' I believe
Bye for now I will keep you all posted on the outcome Ciaoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, its nice you brought up this issue. If what a friend told me last year is anything to go by then, NLNG pays 'N3.5m/annum' for new entry level. I hope those who have other info would post them. Cheers and keep the hope alive.

@ oboywhynow, thanx for the in-depth info. that was quite selfless of you. I only hope those of us expecting to hear from NLNG, accepts whatever the outcome is, in good fate. The last time I saw a similar posting on this thread was from Joy after her second test. Wishing you all the best.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Lng 2nd Test Result by seniorak47(m): 2:33pm On Apr 04, 2007
Hi landers, hope the 2nd test was not too stressful? I will like us to do a bit of maths here. Three centres with two batches of 100 candidates in each running a total of nine days amounts logically to 5400 in all. If anyone has an idea of how many entrants they are ready to employ, please share with the house. Best of luck while we all prepare in anticipation of the next stage (be it another test or oral interview). See you at the training school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Lng Sample Test In Here by seniorak47(m): 2:04pm On Mar 31, 2007
Hi all in the house. Please, is there someone in the house who wrote or know another who did the LNG test on friday 30/3/2007? My inquiry is meant to elicit information on the discipline vis-a-vis the nature of the test! Don't get me wrong. I am aware that to date, there has been at least 2 types of tests administered (with or without technical stuffs). I am not from an engineering background and scared of facing such possible engineering related assessment which might work against me. Thanx while I expect a response soon. You may wish to reply to senior4real@yahoo.co.uk or post online for the benefit of those who might be in similar dilemma. Bye ciaoooooooooooo
