@ Ojap, am very sorry to hear your story but I pray God Almighty shall in his infinite mercies grant you your most heart desire very soon by changing the stories to a good one. Don't give up. keep trying whether now or later just keep the focus. Learn from your mistakes, share your possible responses with members of the house and do a mock interview if possible with some of the learned house member acting as CO to evaluate your response and their implications. Your case is just unfortunate considering all you put into it. Even most disturbing that you have contributed to other people's success on this forum because I see every contribution as a wealth of experience to tap from. Just keep the touch Alive and very soon you shall return to the platform of this honorable house to share your testimonies. Ciao!!

@ House. thank you for your support even to the dying minutes of the race. Let me say that the race is not for the fast nor is it for the flat footed but obvious a function of the G-factor. God Almighty.

I got my F-1 visa today and it was a good experience!! The details are coming soon,

Hi house, thanks for always been there.

@ Ojap; mine is in lasgidi but we will meet here afterward with great stories to tell.

@Ludab; I think Ojap has provided a general info about WES method however, there are certain details you need to know. The type of evaluation required by schools is called 'course by course' evaluation report. It consider each course/subject one after the other and convert your score/grade to the equivalence of a US course unit system. The overall CGPA is not just picked and converted rather each subject, the related score, and the credit unit is converted to the US equivalence and used in calculating a GPA for you. In essence, the denominator used by your previous school will have an impact on the eventual outcome. For instance, LASPOTECH system is over 4 same as that of the US. Final outcome for a graduate of this and other schools with similar denominator will be very close to the existing one. However, other schools like UNILAG witha scale over 5 and YABATECH with a scale over 7 or so (am not sure) will have final converted CGPA at variance with the original one.

For instance, in my own case, I had a CGPA of 3.23/4.0 from ND at LASPOTECH and a CGPA of 4.14/5.0 for BSC at UNILAG. The eventual outcome was 3.23/4.0 on the US system. However, I believe it should have been more but for some mistakes in my BSC transcript. Though my BSC final CGPA was right but the calculations and some scores were obviously wrongly done from my school. But in the end WES will tell your new school what your grade is worth compared to a US degree.

If you need more info on how to make the WES processes easier, I can oblige any house member coz my own experience lasted almost a year just for the evaluation. In the process, I learned alot about the system and likely potholes I should have avoided.

Ciaooo!!!!

@ God pikin Thanks alot.

Again, my interview is in 2 weeks. I have a state govt sponsorship for about 80% and my personal dom acct for the balance of 20% as @ end of June. My other naira accts (savings and current) are active , old but not that buoyant (less than 100k balance), i have worked for 3yrs plus, in an area not directly related to my intended program but remotely related duties wise. I had a brief stint with a related firm earlier for 6-moths and volunteer work for a related NGO on part-time basis b4 my working years. I am married with a child. My sponsorship is renewable upto a maximum of 48months but my program is for 36months.

Ungergraduate course in same faculty but not in same specialisation; No GRE, No Toefl, WES evaluation; 3.23/4.0 and an original xcript; 4.14/5.0 ready. A sibling in US who is legal perm resident.

What are the odds?

Your views are highly appreciated!!

House, do I have to staple or gum my passport photographs to any form or not?

Also, I have just one admission and only that I-20 too, I hope its cool. Though, its too late to start searching for more admissions. But, I guess someone may be able to help with a possible answer to why I have just 1 admission should that question come-up.

Thanks all!!

@ neroflick; in my experience of scholarship application processing, please apply with the most recent admission that you have with you whether in the country or school you intend to attend or not. with this, you won't lose the chance to apply and get the opportunity to contest for whatever slots are available. what is important is the course of study and your eligibility. When you are finally offered sponsorship, there are procedures for change of institutions and country of study. Best of luck

Hi Guys,

I have not been on this forum for a while but was impressed with your activities on this page when I came back online.

Can someone tell me how to make the sevis payment via western union (quickpay) option in Dallas, Texas? My brother can't seem to get the same payment form displayed on DHS website at the various cashpoints he visited.

Anyone with an idea how to go about it?

Thank you,

Hello, without my invoice can I pay my fees? The school does not expect me to pay and my course not require initial deposit. Can the BHC refuse me student visa on this ground even if other documents are genuine and sufficient fund from my parents are available? Please reply before I put in my application soon.
Travel / Re: Application For Uk Student Visa. by seniorak47(m): 10:24pm On Aug 19, 2007
Hi all in the house,

I hope to get an unconditional offer within this week after satisfying the school's conditions as indicated on the conditional offer, which are 3; evidence of satisfactory finance, english language proficiency, and proof of first degree. It is a top Uk school infact in the top 10 worldwide. It does not require initial deposits nor any other payment until I am issued an invoice which is not even due until after resumption. Having met other conditions the BHC requires, I hope I won't be refused base on non-payment since the school does not expect me to pay yet? Please I need kind and honest opinions so that I can adjust as appropriate. I am due to apply last week of August and school will start last week of September.

hello,
I believe they will get in touch with the successful candidates as promised. Infact, if you check today's GUARDIAN, there is an advert calling for potential employers to attend the fair. They seem very organised, we need to give that to them. It is just 3 days away though, let us pray and reflect positively. ONE LOVE

Hello bros'
I do not know ur status but I am still an applicant. I did a test and also attended a leadership development module sometime ago, your question appeared in both places. Hence, it is a typical psychometric/interview question. we may wish to discuss further on this thread as some people may find themselves faced with this or similar poser sooner or later. One love

Hi, APM test is made up of 50 questions comprising simple test of English (antonynms and synonyms mostly) as well as basic mathematics. it will last for 12minutes. the other part is a personality test which is not scored but only used as assessment tool. Note that I have not done the test as well but all I have said were from two close friends who have done it recently. Bye

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Toefl Exam by seniorak47(m): 11:30am On Jun 02, 2007
toefl cost $140 really but the admin cost would make it go up as much as #31,000 in Nigeria. If you are so serious about it call Study Abroad Institute, on 08056060811,08038572459,01-8112659,01-8775449,8930981 or email drphilips@studyabroadinst.com. Its more convenient this way, trust me, I know what am saying!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Unilag Msc by seniorak47(m): 11:10am On Jun 02, 2007
hi, I am presently registered for M.sc in UNILAG infact, faculty of environmental sceinces. ASUU strike has disturbed the taking off of lectures in my department though. The forms are usually out by July/August each year (at least that was when it came out last year). If you were not a graduate of UNILAG, I will advice you get your transcript applied for in advance or ready if possible amongst other basic documents. Develop a good relationship with your university lecturers as they would has to sign your references. The form cost #7,500 last year while you have to be ready to take a test depending on the number of applicants to the same course. The regulation is thus; if more than 20 applicants put in for a course then, there would be a test to further prune down the number. However, if its less, the grading is done at the departmental level and recommendations made to the PG school for consideration. You would stand a higher chance of being chosen if
1. You are a alumni of unilag;
2. Your grade (1.1, 2.1, or 2.2) also matter;
3. Your years or RELEVANT experience is of importance as well;
4. And finally, pray for GOD's favour

But take it from me, UNILAG gives equal opportunity to its applicants both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Trust me coz have been there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
