Explain this please.

Oga maternal wetin you want make i talk naa. Shey u dey see some people create thread claiming Naija is better than abroad because people abroad spend their money on bills invariably, it means that in Naija, people don't pay bills, they get it free. Light (Darkness) is free, water is free, recharge cards and internet is free etc. I'm just saying that anyone migrating should be prepared to pay bills cos they are not free here so that they don't come by mistake and open a thread tomorrow that they are paying bills here while they get it free in Nigeria

I shouldn’t do this because nobody’s opinion should count over your life but I will say;

Let your kids be your motivation. Think about their future, think about how this would benefit them in the long run. And most importantly, Let nobody’s decision about their lives affect yours.

I think we should not encourage people who have not made up their minds to migrate. From his/her post, you can see he/she has not done their own personal research and does not know what he/she wants in the first place. A lot of Nigerians do "follow follow" and unfortunately migration is a serious issue, it is not something one should jump into anyhow. People need to evaluate themselves thoroughly and be sure they have the right mentality for the move otherwise they won't be able to overcome the initial challenges and shock they may encounter. These are the kind of people that would open a thread tomorrow and bashing the country as if they were forced to migrate.

Some Nigerians do not have the mentality to live abroad and that is why you see them complaining of tax, bills, mortgage etc because they get all those things free in Nigeria. I think anyone who is serious to migrate should have made their personal research and not rely on people to validate or motivate them

It depends on what you do in the bank. If your job descriptions in the bank align with any of the sponsored occupations, you have a good chance in the migration pathway.

Thank you. I am actually asking for a friend. He was talking about Canada but i told him he has better chances in AUS than Canada due to age. He is into Fund transfer though i didn't see any job title like that in the occupation list

Hello Bellong and other AUS people, i greet una ooo

Please what are the chances of a banker with 8 years experience and about 40 years of age, B.Sc to migrate to Australia? I know for Canada, Age will practically make it impossible. How does Australia PR work? I heard the change the requirements often. Please i just need a brief summary. Thanks

Guys, I need your advice too. I graduated since 2011/2012 and I don't have a masters degree (so no 2nd cert). I really don't feel like doing anything school again as I had 3yrs at home before my admission to do a 5yrs course. I have ventured into business and my success has been moderate. I'm not married now. So with this my profile now, what are my chances of relocating to a better country?

You need to research on your own to find out the requirements and see if you fit in. Luckily, you can get all the info you need online. But i must warn that whatever the case, ensure that you travel legally with the right visa. It is better to remain in the shithole and hope for a better Nigeria than to live illegally abroad. Otherwise you will be jumping from frying pan to fire.
Politics / Re: #RevolutionNow: Police arrest journalist, nine others during protest by sentra05: 2:29pm On Aug 05, 2019
These guys are just wasting their time. Nigeria is a dead country. You can't do a revolution when more than 90% of the people are not bothered about the happenings in the country or don't even see anything wrong in the country. Whoever dies in this nonsense died a stupid man.

You can only fight for what has value not something that is worthless. For the small minority of people who desire a genuine change and a working country, the best thing to do is to legally migrate to a working country if you have what it takes. Make no mistake, in this 21st century, home is no longer your place of birth but the place where you find happiness and enjoy living, it does not matter where in the world it is.

The truth is that the minority will have their say but the majority will have their way and the people who genuinely love Nigeria and want a better country are in the minority so your protest or revolution will never make any impact. If Nigeria was a sane country, the likes of Buhari and Atiku would not have been front runners in that last election not to talk of winning an election.

Get a second country for yourself and children now than relying on a country that will never make progress. I don talk my own.

Here they come again!

Why are all the southern tribes always fall over themselves to defend the interest of the fulanis as against their own interest? From the east to west to south south, the fear for the fulanis is becoming annoying.

The NEF never even said all fulanis or northerners in the south should come back, they were very specific and called fulani herdsmen to come back and they even use the word "if" there security is not guaranteed. Yet southerners are panicking already and have entered their political correctness mode instead of them to encourage it or keep quiet and allow it play out. See the speed in which they have spoken but they found it difficult to speak when herdsmen were murdering people in their villages

Every right thinking person are pushing these herdsmen to adopt ranching or restrict their open grazing to the north to avoid blood shed that have been happening over time. With this declaration, i will not be surprised if they herdsmen misinterpret it to mean that they can continue in their ways as they are supported by the government. Fulani interest have now become Nigerias interest. If it is not in Fulanis interest, then it is not Nigerias interest.

The other day, Orji Kalu was talking off point nonsense in a bid to defend the fulani herdsmen. As if that is not enough, Tinubu who has never defended the southwest from herdsmen terrorism was tactically defending the herdsmen and was trying to pick fight with igbos in order to deflect the issue. Pat Utomi came and said Fulani made him rich as if it has anything to do with the killings perpetrated by the herdsmen. Southerners keep falling over themselves trying so hard to be in the good books of fulanis instead of protecting their own interest

What i want to ask thee southern idiots that call themselves leaders is, If we were to turn things around and an igbo herdsmen or yoruba herdsmen or ijaw herdsmen etc take their cows to the fulani villages up north, destroy their crops, rape and kill their people, will they fulanis pamper them and be doing this stupid political correctness? Think about it

How the fulanis colonized Nigeria in their own image amazes me to be frank, they are not even up to the top 5 largest ethnic group yet the have been able to put every other tribe in Nigeria under their yansh. In fact,it is high time someone do it as a research in the uni and actually study the fulani hegemony on Nigeria because i am sure that even our colonial masters Britain were never this powerful.

This is what i don't like. People just wasting spaces for others who genuinely want to migrate. Why bother going through the rigors of application process when you don't even know what you want.
The mistake a lot of Nigerians make is just migrating to another country without actually defining for themselves what they really want. Abroad is not for everyone.
From your post, i will advice you to stay back in Nigeria.
The only people i encourage to migrate are people who don't really place money over every other thing. People who don't feel happy about the rot in Nigeria and want to live somewhere where things are working. The truth is that the chances of making that 7 digits in Canada is low and for people who place too much value on money, it is either they go into crime to meet up or they come to nairaland, open a thread and be bad mouthing Cananda, US or other western countries they migrate to as if they country begged them to migrate.

Not everyone appreciate the clean environment, working systems etc that obtains in the western world. In fact, some people enjoy the chaos in Nigeria and will never function properly in the western society. I know some Nigerians over here who keep whining every time that they pay taxes.

@OP, my advice is stay in Nigeria to avoid regrets. It is obvious you did not even do your research very well and you don't seem to know what you really want.

Family / Re: How Can I Handle This Issue With The Wife Of My Boss? by sentra05: 2:06am On Jun 03, 2019
kennybabs1980:
My director's wife is a kind hearted woman but she is too sensitive and highly inquisitive. I have known her for 5 years, that's when I started working with her husband. I'm very close to my oga and his family.

My oga is a womanizer but his wife hasn't been able to catch him red handed. The woman became so friendly with me since February 2019. she will call me on phone to just say hi, recharge my phone sometimes etc.

I have always been so sceptical about the woman's attitude of recent since I know her as a very inquisitive person.

The bubble bursted in April when I travelled with oga to Kaduna, Kano and Jigawa States for some trainings organised by our department for some cooperative livestock farmers. The wife started calling me while in Kano to ask about her husband, who stays with him in his hotel room, his visitors etc which I said to her I don't really know.

Oga actually brought his secretary which I knew he has been dating with him for the trip but of what concern is that to me? When we returned, the woman actually came to our office where she looked angrily at me, hiss at me and left without answering her greeting.

My job schedule involves sometimes working at oga's house especially when we have urgent training assignments. The woman have been sort of looking at me as someone who is also promiscuous like her hubby. Yesterday, she called me a liar and deceitful person, just because she wanted me to divulge her hubby's itinerary to her. It's possible she think I'm a small boy sha.

I'm actually planning to move some of the equipment in oga's house to mine so that I'll have less contact with the woman but I don't want my oga to know my reasons since I didn't tell him all his wife have been doing so that I don't cause wahala in their home.

How could I handle this issue brothers and sisters?

I think you have to tell him the reason. If you do not tell him,he may start thinking the wife is making some advances towards you and that is why you are running away from his house and this could become a bigger problem. Remember you are already in the bad books of his wife. I think like one poster said, stylishly tell him that you are under pressure to divulge some information about him but you can't do that as it is none of your business so the best thing is to reduce your exposure to his wife. He will understand and appreciate you for it

I have heard of people stabbed in London, the emergency ambulance couldn’t save them. A lot of people die here even with all the facilities they cannot be save. In everything my brother, na God get power. Woe is he that put his trust in man says the bible.

I have been harassed one night @ about 11-12pm coming back from church in a place called catford. Two black guys wanted to collect my hand bag. They probably felt it was loaded with valuables. What was the most disturbing things wasn’t the guys but the people around the bus stop who saw everything going on and didn’t help me. They were busy minding their business as if they don’t care. If They were waiting for me to be stabbed before they called the police I don’t know.
I just acted like I had a knife with me under my trouser and made a move like I want to bring it out and they fled. Smartness/ street sense saved me that day.
My opinion is that life is more than emergency service, economy etc. Who will die will die, and who will live will live. Death is everywhere. Even your food can kill you.
A lady came here and worked illegally for about 10 years and fighting for papers and hussling hard. She got her papers in the 11th year and had cancer in the 12th year. She died 3 yrs after that. Someone may say if she was in Nigeria she wouldn’t have had a good medical care for the cancer. Well maybe if she had stayed back she wouldn’t have had cancer at all.

Man’s life is insignificant. We place so much thought trying to control our existence. All that doesn’t matter.

For me, What is important is that wherever you are be happy.

So what we all need is not to live abroad but to have money. Money can make a village a paradise.
So if it is to come here and make money it is ok.

Good thinking!Because emergency services did not save some people in London, then not having them in Nigeria is no big deal since anybody who will die will die. For your info, God has given man all it takes to make her world a better place so it is now left to man to use their brain. You downplay the role of working health care in the UK but the number 1 man in Nigeria, the president will disagree with you because they are the one keeping him alive today.
Your last paragraph is why Nigeria and a lot of other African countries are shithole. The only thing that ever matters to us as a people is money, money and more money. The leaders know this and this is why they loot and bring part of the money on election eve to share to the people and win election. Because they the know the people don't care about the good roads, the state of healthcare, the state of education, whether there is electricity or not etc. after all who will die will die and people die even in western world where there the systems are working.

With money in our pocket, we do not care about any other thing else. After all, if road no good,we buy SUV to drive over it, if light no dey, we buy big gen at least fuel still dey for filling station, if armed robber invade our house, we don't need to call 911, we just go on our knees and start praying to God, if hospitals are ill equipped, that one no be problem, we travel abroad to get treated and for those who can't afford it, it is not a problem after all who will die will die.

No wonder! i used to wonder why our leaders who travel abroad all the time cannot replicate what they see here in Nigeria but with this mentality it is now clear that they don't even value what they see. What this means is that our greatest impediment to progress is our mentality as a people as it is clear that a clear majority of the people including those who live abroad don't value good things but only value what comes into their pockets. This is to say that the state of Nigeria today is no big deal and it can remain like this till eternity as long as we are smiling to the bank. Bravo!Good thinking!

Ladies and gentlemen, there is no right or wrong opinion when it comes to leaving Nigeria, we all see things differently. What is wrong is always using money as a yardstick for everyone who wants to leave the country. Not everyone sees being a millionaire as an achievement.

I used to be anti abroad those days. The way some of you criticize people wanting to relocate abroad is also what i do at that time. I remember when my brother first asked me to relocate, i remember asking him what he has achieved that i have not achieved while in Nigeria. I was a lucky chap, graduated and got a good job immediately and started making good money at young age. At mid 20s, i had my ride, bought lands and already building. To me at that time everything was money and i was making it.

However, as i started traveling out of the country on visit, Nigeria started annoying me because of her state. Yes,individually we have money than a lot of people abroad but then the country cannot measure up to those countries in all indices. Anyway, i was not still convinced of relocating abroad but one incident made my mentality change forever.

One faithful night around 12.15 am, my friend who was out of town on a business trip called me with his voice shaking. Reason; his pregnant wife is having serious issues and she needs to be taken to the hospital immediately. His wife is one of those women whose pregnancy is always full of complications and that is why her mother is always living with her during the period.

During this period, there was security issues in the area as we keep hearing gunshots every night, so the whole area was tensed. So when my friend needed my help take his wife to the hospital that night, i and my wife was scared to move out that night for fear of the unknown even though there were 4 ready cars (I had 2, my friend had 2 cars). As i got to his house ( we were neighbors separated by a fence), his wife was crying but scared to move out at that time.

In order to dodge going out at that time, i called a doctor i know to come and attend to her ( I thought i was sharp guy), the doctor said the best thing is to take her to the hospital and at that point,i had no choice than to drive her to the hospital as it was now a matter of life and death and i won't forgive myself if she dies, i had to take the risk.

Just before we are about to enter the car, she told us to wait, that she is getting some relief and that the pains are reducing. Lo and behold, 5 minutes after, she said she was okay and she didn't need to go again till morning. I guess the fear of those gunshots made her well by force. i told her to call her husband, my friend so that he will know it is his wife's decision. That was how i escaped going out that night.

When i was telling my cousin abroad what happened, he just downplayed the issue. He said " You should have just called 911 and they will send an ambulance and police if there is a security threat in your area in 5 minutes. You didn't need to carry someone who needs an emergency care in an ordinary car to the hospital, it is the job of an ambulance as they would be attending to her even before she gets to the hospital. In an emergency, one minute of medical care can make a difference. what if she dies on the road inside your car?"

At this point,it dawned on me that the money and cars we claim to have will have been useless in a very serious emergency situation. It was after this incident, i started making concrete plans to relocate until i did and i am enjoying life here even though i am not yet making the kind of money i was making in Nigeria but i know i will get there. See guys,i will take a working system and infrastructure over being a millionaire in a shithole, i am telling you from experience from both world.

This is so ridiculous. Racism at its worst! The guys at the embassy are so uncomfortable with a black person getting funding from Australia for doctoral study. I have never been this angry and disappointed at an embassy....its an obvious case of racism and discrimination.
They wouldn't refuse an American or any other white person visa based on such ridiculous reasons.
I wish I knew the schools, I would have applied from here in Canada(I'm a Canadian citizen of Nigerian descent), get the admission and funding, and of course easy study visa, and then I will decline the visa after issuance, with a strongly worded letter to the Australian immigration here, in solid solidarity with the OP.
So sick of these embassies.

I understand you clearly but unfortunately a beggar has no choice. The state of Nigeria affects everyone in every area. Racism? Probably but the truth is that the chances of Nigerians suffering racism and discrimination from whites will be higher than black south Africans and this is because south Africa as a country has more value than Nigeria. This is why i cry everyday that Nigeria should stand up among the comity of nations because this is the only way citizens can gain rspect. As long as Nigeria remains a shithole, the chances of these bulshits happening to nigerians will be high. Respect is earned.

Much depends on you. As an Engineer, you have a variety of career paths options available. You could follow your PEng route or take short employment ready courses like tge Power/Process you mentioned.

In addition to nozzle's contribution. CCIS is good but it is highly conpetitive so you game has to be strong. To give you an idea of the competition, out of about over 400 to 500 applications received per year from people with engineering discipline and experience, they then admit about 15 after exams and interviews. The two Nigerians i know that went through the program were able to achieve moderate success. Like you, one if them has a mech eng degree. I used moderate because they get contracts and term jobs which are not stable. I think this is so because some top employers would often specify that: "graduating from particular technical schools would be an asset".

Sait/nait/lakeland/Keyano: These schools have better power programs, more industry links, excellent alumni networks, and they get you on a higher class after grad. 5 Nigerian trained engineers I know that went through SAIT had high success in the job market. 4 ended up working for oil companies up north of Edmonton while one took a job at a manufacturing firm in the city. Overall Keyano has the best program as the college is in the heart of the oil sands region, and is currently sponsored by ConocoPhilips and partnered with a consortium of Nexen Inc, Suncor Energy Inc, Syncrude Canada Ltd, and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. Sait and Nait have partnership with Cenovous and spartan controls, Lakeland is partnered with Husky Oil.

However, from your post, it seems that you are in Ontario since you mentioned OSAP. I am not sure of how much in-demand Power Engineers/Process Operators are over there. I would advice you talk to the school you are thinking of attending to discuss about their graduates sucecess rate or better still seek out grads from those schools on the web to discuss about their success.

As per your wife, she can't go wrong with Nursing especially when it comes to getting jobs outside big centres.

Having both parent attend school is doable. Seen several here. Student aid would consider your applications for aid seperately. You can work part time. How you manage your time and finances is up to you. Other option people consider is for parents to attend school one at a time. This option gives you a lower debt load while in school. You are lucky your kids are 4 years old. They are close to starting a full day school.

Thank you salford. I am in Ontario and i am looking at Conestoga college

Nozzle:

if you want to go the power engineering route, Calgary catholic immigrant society CCIS, has a power engineering program for new immigrant with degree in mechanical engineering. its a bridging program pathway for power engineers it is done in affiliation with SAIT, to get 5th and 4th class power engineering diploma and certificate of competence. i think you should visit CCIS in downtown, Calgary and make more findings.
Its completely free and you will be paid every month for 9 months during the programs. people have had good successes with jobs after the program. that is also largely dependent on you!. As expected it is highly competitive, you have to write exams and interviews to get in. But nothing is impossible.

But for overall job prospect for these courses...i leave that to our seniors here to answer, maternal, salford.

Wao!! This is an amazing forum. I wish i discovered it earlier.

OK. I'm just few weeks in Canada and trying to settle down and at the same time confused on the best line of action for me. I came in on PR with a wife and 2 kids age 4 years. I have been reading a lot trying to get insights on how to navigate in terms of career and jobs.

My wife wants to do a diploma in nursing starting Sept 2019 and she is about applying. However, from what i am seeing in my job search in the last 3 weeks, it seems to me that getting a higher role will be difficult at this time. By the way,i have B.Eng mechanical engineering and all my work experience has been in utilities management in manufacturing companies. In fact, i think i want to go back to school and do a one year college certificate program next year and the two courses that are coming into my mind is Power Engineering and Process Quality Engineering.

Please seniors in the house, i have some few questions

1. What do you think about the two courses in terms of jobs from what you have seen so far in Canada?
2. I read we can get an OSAP loan. However, if we get the OSAP funds and I and my wife get into school at the same time on full time basis,is it possible to work part time during the period to keep going for the period considering we have two 4 year old boys in JK? Is this doable? or should i wait for her to finish first or i go first?
What will be the best way to go about this because we do not want to get stuck in low key jobs.
