CHRIS DGRT: this is how some of the elite in Nigeria(minister for education, NUC, governors and teachers) bastardize the education system, first I in enrolled in primary school at the age of 6yrs,It was meant to run for 6 yrs but due to strike I was through at the age of 13, the academic calender was rushed, most of the topics contained in the syllable was not taught but exams were set. some students failed but nobody was blamed except the failed student.
In secondary school I was meant to spend six years to finish at age of 19 but ended up finishing secondary school at the age of 20years kudos to Gov. Mbadinuju of Anambra state who shut down the school for eight months. But this did not stop both WAEC&NECO to go ahead in conducting exams which was required to gain admission to the university, how will I enter exam hall after staying at home for eight month?. No body cares, my parents where not happy seeing me idle but to add salt to injury, we were asked to line up at the onitsha Niger bridge to welcome the Gov''who put us out of school for eight months"while returning from a pleasure trip abroad but was labelled an official trip(" onye ulo ya na agba oku o na achu oke?meaning if your house is on fire do you pursue rat)
I managed through tutorial/lesson centers to make my waec/neco and entered Atlantic University Okija, at the age of 23, After 3 1/2 years in school, NUC came up with an announcement that Atlantic University Okija is not an approved university but the school was advertised on the state radio. That was the end of it, the faith of the students where never considered in their decision.
Tick says the clock , 29years of my precious life gone past but still no 1st degree in sight .I enrolled into another university to start afresh after 3years, the school was shot down for 6months due to the heartlessness of Five eastern Govs chaired by Gov peter Obi, when the school was finally re-opened, we went on break again because of the elections, when the elections were over, we were welcomed back with three weeks lecture then exams, am still writing first semester exam and the school is running second semester concurrently, WHY?
----from this NYSC is not for me due to age ----Jobs vacancies require fresh graduates of not more 24years for graduate recruitment. ----What will I do? Is it not obvious that (minister for education, nuc, governors and teachers) don't know what they are doing? They pump too much money in poverty alleviation and continue to create ten folds of poverty. How do they (minister for education, nuc, governors and teachers) expect us to fill in the gap in areas of skilled manpower when there is no knowledge transfer.
But thanks to Rivers state Gov, Gov Amechi,he is worthy of emulation in education. (minister for education, nuc, governors and teachers) Do you think that a well educated person, will be a suicide bomber? NO LACK OF KNOWLEDGE BRINGS ABOUT LACK OF SKILL, LACK OF SKILL metamorphoses to begat UNEMPLOYMENT. UNEMPLOYMENT is the Bane of anti social vices IN THE COMMUNITY AND COUNTRY AT LARGE. Yours is a heartrending and compelling one. Honestly, I can sympathise with you. This life can be so uncertain and erratic. I really thank God that you were able to surmount those ordeals. It is very heroic of you. And know thee that your condition is not peculiar to you. There are thousands that pray to be where you are today. Life's meaning lies not in competition but in what we are able to make out of it from the level our parents or circumstances kept us. It is my prayer that the Lord who does all good things, crown your efforts with success. Amen. Shalom! Neverthless, try and burn your bridges behind you, |

mcdokwe: you really need to work 'extra hard' to gain admission because becoming a lion/ess is one of the greatest achievement you can make in life.
Asides. If you own a laptop, or can afford to buy one, start making plans to bring them to school as the school provides free internet services. You see? One more reason to work harder Is the free internet also in UNEC campus? |

@POSTER, One other key and burning issue is this JAMB's indiscriminate and flagrant seizure of candidates' results. I was stupefied at learning that about 28,000 results were seized this year. More maddening was the crass arrogance with which JAMB issued the statement, saying that the number was lesser and an improvement, considering that 89,000 results were seized in 2010. What this means is that the hope of these youths are now dashed, thereby making them susceptible to crime, brigandage and other social malaise. JAMB should be called to order because the number of seized results can be drastically reduced thus: by taking time to find the actual culprits in exam malpractices instead of cancelling or seizing the whole results of a centre. by having zero tolerance to staff indiscipline because all the exam questions that leaks are released by members of the staff. So, those of them abetting malpractices in exams should be relieved of their duties. |

nogames: Point of correction, like every other Federal Institutions NOUN students DO NOT PAY FOR TUITION FEE. We pay for courses materials and exam. so I doubt if the poster is a NOUN student.
About the issue of course materials (text book). There was a time Noun find it very difficult to run more than a semester in a year due to course materials problem, pioneer students can testify to this. We were told that, there are bottle necks in course material production. The management must following "DUE PROCESS" for awarding contract as it is in every Federal GOV. parastatal, which includes, Call for Tender, Bidding etc. this may take more than 6 months
The only option is to load the soft copies of these materials on-line for students to down load and we were told that, hard copies will be given any time they are available. with this simple move. NOUN students are preparing for second exam this year. I am a student like yourself, i think loading course materials on NOUN e_ library is great, most of other universities (lecturers and students) are gradually adopting these materials as instructional aids because they were written by seasion expects carefully selected from different universities . Are you in any vestige way trying to infer that the fifty thousand naira my friend said he paid was for course materials? |

Business › Re: How Can I Become A Billionaire At 36! by Serendipity: 6:07pm On Jul 21, 2011 |
@PS I can detect flippancy in your post. Worthy of note also is that your goal is more or less quixotic and unrealizable. Nevertheless, greater percentage of the possibility of your realising your dreams within the stipulated time range depends on your present state or level which by extension has to do with your type of business, how lucrative it is, etc. It would also be asinine to think that you can make fortunes as a sachet water vendor or petty recharge card seller. One other thing that stifles growth is having too much burden on your neck, say, making 20,000 monthly and having expenses or bills of 19,000 to foot which will prevent you from having savings and investing. Cheers! |

naijababe: ^ Effective / Efficacious / effectual - no difference here. All used when describing something that does what it should
Efficient - close in meaning to the above but used when one wants to attach a range to the meaning of any of the above words Rattling! But also note that as a rule and inasmuch as those four words are adjectives, they are used differently depending on the context. In other words; To say that something is capable of producing the required result, use EFFECTIVE. To refer to the ability of the thing in question to produce the result wanted and at the same time save energy, money, time etc, use EFFICIENT. When the thing is a drug, use EFFICACIOUS. |

Contumely: Congrats dear! I affirm that JAMB by failing to provide writing materials, especially calculators( since students were instructed not to come with any), contributed immeasurably to some students' dismal performance. Regrettably, who sues them for such negligence of duty? I also I have an inkling that JAMB intentionally flunked some students so as to still amass fortunes from them next year. Check it; JAMB FORM: 4650 to 5100 naira. NO OF CANDIDATES:1.49m. It is indeed rueful. Just maybe, imagine. They even unabashedly declared that it was only about 20% that would be absorbed in the limited spaces in the Nigeria varsities. Gosh! |

Odunnu: Using the word 'intercepted' wasnt right in this context. I just assumed you badly wanted to use the word so you threw it in. Anyway, I had to lock it because there was a thread on UNN before yours. Its not okay having UNN threads (or any other university) littered around the section. If every lion/lioness opens a new thread each time he has an info, nothing else would be done. Thank you for understanding, great lion. All right. But inasmuch as the threads are about UNN admissions. I believe we had different objectives for opening them. I crave your assistance to either copy the contents of my thread to his or better still unlock mine since his already looks abandoned. Thanks for being solicitious. |
