Could you tell me why my thread titled 'Unn 2010/2011 Exhausted' was intercepted.
EducationRe: Unn 2011/2012 Admissions Exhausted! by Serendipity(op): 8:30am On Jul 10, 2011
Now see if you can answer the following questions on UNN admissions:
How UNN adds JAMB and PUME to obtain your aggregate?
The format of UNN PUME exams?
The number of questions they ask in the Exams?
How the questions are graded?
The answers to the above and more will be provided shortly!
Don't go away,

EducationUnn 2011/2012 Admissions Exhausted! by Serendipity(op): 8:03am On Jul 10, 2011
I was just this morning impelled to open an exclusive thread on UNN 2010/2011 admissions.
Given that admissions process is omnibus coupled with the nightmarish experiences of many a student in every admission year, which more often than not arise as a result of lack of information, I have therefore decided to be addressing every of your UNN admission questions as they come.
Now, a great deal of our time will be spent on issues that pertain to the 'Aptitude Test' (PUME).

I am inviting all UNN admission pundits to grace this thread.
It is also my hope that you find this thread very handy and unmissable.
Finally, don't forget God as He settles your admission quest.
Shalom!

It's a general thing then? cos in my school -university of jos- the most recent first class awarded by the faculty of law was in 1985, the faculty having been compelled by a court order to grant the honour cheesy. The recipient, C. J. Dakkas, is now a profesor in the same faculty and once was attorney general of plateau state. Legend has it that he graduated from the faculty 'saddled' wit a 2/1 and was greatly dissatisfied, but the bad guy proceeded to bag a first class at the law school, and inspired by God-knows-what, dragged the faculty to court thereafter. I ain't sure how true this is and would rather not be quoted grin.

I dont believe that it is difficult to make first in both Uni and Law School. also your statistics may not be correct about the total number of students that have graduated with First in both ways. I made a first in both and i know that in my set, there were about three of us that made first in our universities too. Francis was even two year after my call,

It takes hard work, perseverance and hard work to see you through, grin

Serendipity

Please where on earth did I draw the conclusion in my post that all lawyers earn the figures I stated? Now that's a classic case of putting words into my mouth, or should I say a case of erroneously ascribing a statement to me which I didn't make.

I studied Law in Naija, and I've stayed in touch with more than half of my classmates from university and law school. Those figures I quoted is the reality of their lives and a good majority of them. I don't dispute the fact that some lawyers do earn 70k, 120k etc But on a scale of 1 to 50 how many actually earn these amounts?

Getting a job with one of the prestigious firms where decent wages are paid is tough. Most times you need to come highly recommended by someone well connected or be of a wealthy and popular family background. Now how many of us are that privileged?

What I know for a fact is that the ratio of Lawyers who earn a pittance, far outweighs the ratio that earn a decent wage of 70k, 120k in Naija.
Thanks for now making it lucid and very decipherable.

@ poster no offence meant but who cares about a first class in Law when the freaking profession doesn't pay you well after school.

Imagine working for N15,000 per month, N18,000 per month and even N25,000 per month as a Law graduate (some of my friends actually earn these amounts in law firms) after spending so much on acquiring the so called legal education. It makes me furious angry

They all have 2:2 but from what I hear/see of this not so noble profession the situation won't be any different or better for a first class material.

Da Doctor and iice what's up with you guys? Are you loving on each other or hating on each other? grin Just wondering this is the 2nd thread where you are both going at each other.
Okay, I can feel your pain. But it's somewhat fallacious to conclude that all Lawyers earn such pittance as you stated.
Outstanding ones in firms like Banwo and Ighodalo, Aluko and Oyebode etc, earn 70k and above apart from other dough you will be getting depending on how smart you are.
In other words, some earn comparatively 120 to 250k monthly. It varies.

EducationIsn't It Impossible To Make A First Class In Law? by Serendipity(op): 6:21pm On Jul 01, 2011
Please I am just curious.
Report has it that Francis Chukwu in 2007 was the '3rd' Nigerian to achieve the feat of making first class in the varsity and replicated same in the LAW school.
So, doesn't the foregoing bear witness to the fact that the possibility of making a first class in LAW (in Nigeria) is infinitesimal?

Listen my name is Mr koju-Maribi Ese l'ogun e, tell this so called anty that I say she is a Witch!, Aje(Yoruba) ogbanje or amusu(igbo language) and for the last time please stop comparing a Nigeria private University with any University in Ghana not to talk of USA
The rate at which aspersions are cast on the standard of Nigerian universities, to the extent of comparing them with Ghanaian varsities,  is downright abysmal.
Isn't it indubitable that courses like LAW are better studied in Nigeria. The fact that most of the productive Lawyers we have either studied or had their first degree here in Nigeria bears testimony to the foregoing.

Go to the Nigerian LAW school and see the mediocre performance of those that received the much vaunted high standard of education from Europe, (especially the UK).
A prophet is only despised in his father's land.
The crux of my whole shebang is that our standard has not fallen as such as generalisations want us to believe.

Udelicate:
Pls with 264 in jamb is it possible to get merit admission in law in unizik with post ume score of lyk 70%?
Oh yes my sister, just make sure you get the basic information about their admission stuff. Okay!
You didn't get me? What? Okay now listen, UNIZIK from what I was able to garner asks only English in its PUME exams for LAW (or as the case may be 'pure art' courses). Note that this is subject to change. Do you understand now? Yes. That's cute.
Now, if they still maintain such format, it means you will have to put more attention to that English in your preparations for PUME. You are also advised to be preparing for the other 3 subjects as well should there be any changes in the format of the exams. Try solving some past questions as well. By and large try to exert yourself for it pays. All right? Nice
Now I bless your efforts and pray that the LORD grant you your heart desires. Amen. Cheers!

oga, dem no tell you say UNIZIK no dey collect 2nd choice not to talk of changing institution?

I don't know about UNN.

For anybody scoring >200 that puts Unizik as first choice, congrats you've scaled the first hurdle.
@JACKPOT, I don't think it can be inferred from the guy's question that he wants to choose UNIZIK, as second choice. He only asked if he would be granted admission if he chose UNIZIK OR UNN.
Now @DIRICHI, let me tell you categorically, that with 274 in JAMB, you can study any course whatsoever in any school once you have the basic information, right attitude and orientation to conquer the POST UTME.
As regards the change of course/institution, I know a guy that did it last year and it worked perfectly as he was admitted to study LAW in UNN.
Just be decisive and consider factors like catchment areas etc. since you didn't state your state of origin. You can contact me with this line should the need be - 081 81696114. You may also find useful - unnforum.com.
