The Kano State Government has placed a ban on all live political programmes across radio, television, and other media platforms.

Announcing the decision at a quarterly meeting with media executives, Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said the move aims to prevent the spread of harmful content and preserve the state’s cultural and religious values.

A statement from the ministry, signed by the Director of Special Duties, Sani Abba Yola, explained the reason for the action.

The statement said the ban “is not to suppress political opposition but rather to safeguard the sanctity of Kano’s cultural and religious values.”

As part of the new rules, anyone appearing on political programmes must now sign a form promising not to make any abusive, false, or culturally offensive comments.

Media presenters were also warned not to ask questions or make gestures that could lead to such comments.

The Commissioner praised media houses for their cooperation so far, saying there has been a noticeable drop in unethical content since past efforts began.

He added that the government is still running awareness campaigns for political programme hosts, media analysts, and religious leaders like Imams, to promote peaceful and respectful communication.

Obasanjo is solely responsible for destroying the Nigerian National Assembly, and by extensionNigerias democracy. He straddles around today like a Hoky Apostle for democracy, but he was nothing but a brute primitive ruler while in power. He systematically set the template for undermining the National Assembly while in power. All other presidents afterwards have only been following his footsteps.

The way he used all kinds of methods including bribery, intimidation, brute force, tribalism and barefaced sectional gang ups to mess up the leaderships of the National Assembly simply because they were not ready to dance to his whims and caprices, emboldened other administrations to even do worse since he was able to get away with.

APC has now turned the National Assembly into a parastatal in the presidency. But if Obasanjo allowed the national Assembly to do their work independently as enshrined in the constitution, the independence of the institution would have been cemented long before the coming of the janja-weed party and her monstrous operators..

You're getting it wrong and it's sad. A Governor can not impose his will against the Oyomesi and Atiba mesan. His constitutional role is to install the one recommended by the traditional and legally recognized Kingmakers. The Kingmakers and their legitimate roles are recognized by law just like the Governor. You are stoking the embers of discord and I hope you will sooner than later realize that HE Makinde will eventually leave office while the Kingmakers remain in office afterwards unless he sacks them which can be contested and reversed by the courts.

We have traveled this path before. HE Makinde will eventually give in. The stake is bigger. You can see that nobody is celebrating his choice in Oyo Atiba. How he played the politics so bad that he appointed someone against the choice of the powerful Oyomesi and Atiba itself is a recipe for failure. If you know these things, by now you should know that the ade pali system will not work in Oyo Atiba.

if atiba mesan and oyomesi have the power let them install their preferred candidate, am telling you how the system works here you are referring to groups of people that did not have any constitutional power, their only hope now is to ensure that their candidate win as a Governor in the next election.

this is a traditional law versus constitutional law, las las the governor has the powers to install a king but the oyomesi and atiba mesan can only advise or nominate a candidate but can not install a king.
