Gani Fawehinmi was the best legal mind of his time in Africa but he was not even the best in the University days, truthfully, he had ordinary pass in his Law degree, not even a third class degree. He could be classified as "let my people go" in those days. After Gani left the University and passed his Law school , there was nothing ordinary again in his life, he was the best in everything he touched. He wrote lots legal books and journals in Nigeria. He visited Courts more than those who made First class in the same school with him or those who became SAN before him. Gani's presence in any court was a big news to the Press and the nation, he was delightful and reassuring to watch, he spoke the language of his profession like an angel and every judge knew him as a man of integrity. Gani was the most honorable lawyer Nigeria ever produced, to most Nigerians particularly the poor and middle class,he was their hope, and epitome of graceful expectations of how to prosecute cases, he made legal profession honorable. Gani's most memorable case to me was against Rotimi Williams over integrity. He made a mockery of the man Nigeria called *Rotimi the Law* the Chairman of the 1979 Constitution drafting committee of 49 wise men. It was supposed to be 50 wise men until Awolowo pulled out of the committee. Why? The first appointment given to Rotimi William as Attorney General of Western Region was by Awolowo as Premier. It was the mistake of the Head of State Gen Muritala Mohammed to think Awolowo could serve under Rotimi unfortunately, he never consulted Awolowo before the announcement on the radio. Rotimi Williams had sued Gani over his integrity and like Shylock he wanted a pound of flesh, the flesh that will show the nation Rotimi was the law. He also wanted an open apology in the court with the Press and new radicals of media like Dan Agbese, Dele Giwa, Mohamed and Ogunsanya around. He got more than what he bargained for. When Gani stood up, the poor and middle class stood up with him, if Gani had failed lots of his fans would have cried openly in the Court but he turned things around. He took few steps towards the Judge and demanded to put Rotimi the Law on the witness stand for cross examination. No one had ever done that in the history of Nigeria, probably in Africa. Rotimi was not a short man either probably around 6.2 ft, tall and huge with sharp penetrating eyes, broad shoulders, his presence took away the oxygen in the room, he was the attention in any Court.he was indeed the Giant of legal profession. Rotimi wore his robe like a rag and if the event could be biblically assessed it was like David standing next to Goliath. Rotimi had everything his profession could offer, fame, money and power, Judges bowed before him and who would not? He wrote the law of the land.if not why would he be called* Rotimi the law* To the surprise of the nation, the presiding Judge granted the request of Gani to have the man that was greater than life on the cross-examination box. Gani had a mischievous smile on his thin lips, he knew he had Rotimi by the balls, he was going to tear down the wall to show Nigerians how coleric his adversary was. The hate was glaring, we knew the occasion would be historical as we were about to witness how David of Nigeria legal profession would defeat the Goliath of the learned colleagues. Gani asked if Rotimi ever attended the popular High School in Lagos, he mentioned. Rotimi had no choice than to confirm he did. Gani told the Court to look at Rotimi Williams as a student of the High School who stole a calculator or so and was sent out for stealing if such a thief had any integrity? Rotimi never had any integrity he said infact he lost it from his High School days and wondered what he wanted to protect as an adult. Gani Fawehinmi concluded. Rotimi was almost in tears. The Judge called the two lawyers to his chambers and Rotimi withdrew the case. He never recovered from the bruised of the shame which the Press sensationally reviewed on the pages of the newspapers and talk radio. From Gen Gowon to Military President Babangida, they were all scared of Gani Fawehinmi. Gani was a friend of the sick and the poor, a philanthropist with special attention to education where he noted his own weakness, he gave Nigeria his all, energies and commitment to the rule of Law and love for humanity. If his profession were to be military, Gani would be more than a four star General. He was indeed what a Lawyer could be, to this Oracle, Gani was the Perry Mason of Nigeria law. I am of the opinion that, what you make out of your University education depends on what you put into the society. Your degree is not a waste it is a template for you to understand life and contribute meaningfuly to the society, the man who made a difference is the one with education to improve his environments not the paper qualifications. I beseach you Nairalanders to have a renewal of spirit and mind in how you see life, let your goal in life be guided with your contribution to your society and never looked down on anyone who came out of the University with ordinary pass or third class. He could be the one to make a difference. Before you start asking questions; Mind you I made a 2.1 *No offence * |

9jvirgin:It would even be more painful to realise at the end that an autopsy would not carried out to find out the root cause of the children's untimely demise. |

Consequences of parental negligence on children You all need to read this I got married at the age of 24years to my husband who was a medical practitioner just like I was. We both focused on our carrier and of course we were both successful in all we did but not in the parenting of our own flesh and blood. We had two children, Kunle as the first and Tola the second. Kunle was a very inquisitive boy and asked questions on everything. He even had a nick name "the examiner". His father and I got tired of his questions that we started locking up the door to our bedroom once we came back from work. How I wish I knew better, how I wish I read those posts of yours then. By the time Kunle was four years old, he was much more intelligent than his colleagues and he was so lively, you would never have a dull moment with him. He loved his sister so much and we were always proud of him. His father and I were so sure Kunle was also going to become a medical doctor just like we were. We loved our children so much and had plans to give then the best of everything although we were always busy and were not always at home because of the nature of our job. This made us hire a nanny and we also had one of my brothers in-law with us. On day, I came back from work very tired and my son ran into my room with me and asked, "why do you always close your door anytime you and daddy are in the room?" "Do you like kissing my daddy?" "why don't you kiss me too?" I got so upset with him that I beat him severely and reported him to his teacher the next day. We believed some of his friends were already exposed and may be watched bad movies at home. By the end of that term, we withdrew Kunle and Tola from the school. We did not allow him and his sister watch the television at home and also stopped them from visiting their friends and neighbours. We did all this to preserve our children's sanity but hardly did we know what was happening right under our roof. Some two years later, I got home unusually early to pick up a document. I noticed the door was not shut and everywhere was quiet. I sneaked in to give my children a playful surprise when I realised that their uncle and nanny were in the sitting alongside with my children watching pornography. I hate remembering that day. Not only were they watching pornography, but they were all naked, practicing what they were watching. I drove out the nanny and my brother in-law but the seed was already planted. When I was crying, my six year old son came to me and said, mummy why are you crying, uncle and aunty are only teaching us how to be good mummy and daddy. I was shocked as I never even knew that this had been going on for over two years and my children had be indoctrinated into this messy life style at their tender ages. We never realized the impact this had had on their lives until we caught both of them having sexual intercourse on uncountable occasions. Tola and Kunle did not only continue with this but became obsessed with each other. Their father and I kept this as our "little secret" as we were well known in our carrier. We tried correcting them in love with tears streaming down our faces whenever we caught them in the act. They promised us they were going to change. We had had done two abortions for our daughter, since we could not face the stigma of incest. On a fateful day, Tola walked up to her father and I and told us she was pregnant for Kunle again. Her father insisted on an abortion as usual but this time we lost our twenty year old daughter in the process. Kunle on learning Tola had died never spoke to neither his father nor I again. He eventually left home. Three months after he left home, we received a call from an hospital telling us our son was in a terrible state in their ICU. When we got there, Kunle was lying unconscious. He had poisoned himself. Finally, he got conscious and we were so happy, he looked at us as we sat by he bedside and told us how much he hated us for killing his sister. We pleaded with him and apologized. We got to the hospital the next day to see his corpse, he had suffocated himself by removing his oxygen mask. I am now 74 years old and a widow, my husband could not forgive himself and died of depression three years ago. I regret my years of ignorance everyday. I wish I could start afresh. I have never opened up my family "little secret" up till today. I don't know if my story can be of help to other parents, I am tired of carrying this burden without telling a soul. I am happy I finally surmounted the courage to open up to someone today. Oh, my life is a great mess. Kindly do me a favour of posting this on your page for parents to learn how expensive their actions today could be tomorrow. Thank you. #Copied |

Let's Assume You Saw A Laptop Of 97K. You Didn't Have The Cash, So You Borrowed 50K From Ur Mom And 50K From Ur Dad = 100K. You Bought The Laptop Which Left You With 3K Change. You Gave Ur Dad 1K And Ur Mum 1K And Kept The Other 1K To Yourself. Now You Owe Your Mum 49K And Ur Dad 49K. Now 49K+49K = 98K + Ur 1K Kept = 99K.Where Is The Missing 1K?. usaration:I tell you solemnly that am not advertising for them, it's just that what I have seen them do made me believe in them. I have actually seen people with symptoms @ a dangerous level being removed by their methods of administering drugs. I have also asked questions & found out that their treatment only suppresses it to a less harmful level without actually eliminating it totally. |
Now I understand why the whites would have the guts to refer to the black race as they do(just like the lousy Trump). |
