Competition: Premier League – Hull City vs.
Manchester United
Venue: KCOM Stadium – Saturday, August 27 –
17:30 BST (12:30 ET)
Match Odds: Hull 7/1 – Draw 16/5 – Manchester
United 4/9

Match Preview

Surprise early season high-flying Hull City welcome
Manchester United to KCOM Stadium as one of
these sides will lose their 100% record this
weekend.

Hull have defied the odds in their opening two
games, winning both, and are one of only four teams
to have picked up six points.

Their last Premier League outing was against
Swansea, where some ruthless finishing in the last
quarter of an hour saw them come away 2-0
winners.

At some point Hull’s squad will begin to feel the
pressure due to a lack of depth and injuries, but for
the moment they can enjoy each game and they’ll
be full confidence. A strong start to the season is
all Mike Phelan would have hoped for and he has got
exactly that.

Manchester United have looked very comfortable in
their opening two games. They are giving off the
real impression of a typical Jose Mourinho side and
although they will be expecting a tough tie, they’ll
feel anything less than three points this time out is
not good enough.

United will be keen to push their way to the top of
the table as early on as possible this season, they
trail City on goals scored but have the same goal
difference as their neighbours. Mourinho loves his
side to be pace setters rather than chasers.

Mourinho’s new signings have dovetailed
nicely with the rest of the squad so far and their
direct approaching is working well.

United have scored at least two goals in their last
four Premier League outings and you wouldn’t bet
against them repeating that this weekend. They
have a strong bench to change things up if they
aren’t getting any joy in this tie.

Team News

Hull City are still light on the ground. Centre back
partners Alex Bruce and Michael Dawson remain
injured, while Moses Odubajo and Allan McGregor
are also both still out. Josh Tymon, Harry Maguire
and Greg Luer are all doubts.
Manchester United have no injury concerns so we
can expect a very similar lineup from Mourinho in
this tie.

Key Points
Hull City’s last five: W/W
Manchester United’s last five: W/W

Key Stat: Manchester United have never lost to
Hull City in the Premier League, winning eight and
drawing the other.

Key Player: Zlatan Ibrahimovic – The big Swede
has been exactly what United needed in his opening
two league games, he’ll be itching to keep his
scoring run going and prove to any doubters why
they are wrong.

Match Preview

Crystal Palace take on Manchester United in the 2016 FA Cup Final at Wembley on Saturday in what is a huge game for both clubs after fairly disappointing league campaigns.

Palace finished the Premier League season in 15th place and lost three of their last four games, including a 4-1 loss to Southampton on the final day last weekend.

However, Alan Pardew’s side have been excellent in the FA Cup. They beat Watford in the semifinal and also saw off the likes of Southampton, Stoke, Tottenham and Reading to reach the final.

A win on Saturday would see Palace win the FA Cup for the first time in their history. Their only previous final appearance came in 1990 and was incidentally also against Manchester United.

United won that final 1-0 in a replay after the side’s drew 3-3 in the original clash. Another tight affair is expected this weekend, though the Red Devils remain favourites.

Louis Van Gaal may well be preparing for his final game as Manchester United manager, with speculation about his future not going anywhere.

The team will be solely focused on this game for now, though. They beat Bournemouth 3-1 in their final Premier League game on Tuesday night, which was rescheduled following last Sunday’s abandonment.

The lack of preparation time might affect the squad but they will still be expected to win in 90 minutes on Saturday evening.

They beat Sheffield United, Derby, Shrewsbury, West Ham and Everton to reach this stage and will now want to lift the FA Cup for the first time since 2004.

Team News

Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal has eight injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s game. Marcos Rojo, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Will Keane all look certain to miss out, while Adnan Januzaj, Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian and Morgan Schneiderlin are listed as doubts. Wayne Rooney will likely occupy a midfield position once again, with Marcus Rashford set to start in attack.

Crystal Palace have seven injury worries of their own. Kwesi Appiah, Marouane Chamakh, Brede Hangeland and Joe Ledley are all sidelined, while Connor Wickham, Yohan Cabaye and Wilfried Zaha are all 50/50 ahead of the final.
Key Points

Crystal Palace’s last five in all competitions: L/W/L/W/L

Manchester United’s last five in all competitions: W/D/W/L/W

Key Stat: United are unbeaten in six games against Palace, conceding just once in that time.

Key Player: Anthony Martial – The United striker has scored four goals and bagged two assists in his last four outings and is in the form of his season. He fired United into the final with his late goal against Everton and will look to shine at Wembley once again here.

Score Prediction

Crystal Palace 0-2 Manchester United – A low-scoring affair is expected between two sides that don’t tend to score too many. Palace have been in poor form and despite their strong run in the FA Cup, they are underdogs here and look likely to come up short. United have improved towards the end of the season but will need a trophy to feel satisfied, having missed out on the top four. United to win.

Louis van Gaal says Manchester United must not
allow sentiment to get in the way of their quest for
UEFA Champions League football when they face
West Ham United at the Boleyn Ground.

United will bring the curtain down on famous
ground's Barclays Premier League legacy on
Tuesday, with the Hammers moving into their new
home at the Olympic Stadium for the 2016-17
campaign.

The clash is United's match in hand over their top-
four rivals and three points in the capital could
prove crucial in Van Gaal's mission to take them
back into Europe's elite club competition.

History favours the 13-time BPL champions, with
United unbeaten in the league at the Boleyn Ground
since 2007 – a run of six matches.

"We have a lot of respect to West Ham United; we
are not trying to spoil their party," said the Dutch
coach. "But we do need the three points. That is
different.

"It will be a big night and an emotional night for
them. It [playing the final game at the Boleyn
Ground] is a negative for us. We have to play
against an opponent who says goodbye to the
stadium so they don't want to lose.

"They have already lost to Manchester United in the
last FA Cup match so that is not very good for us
and West Ham United are a very good team.

"The game is not just about a farewell party for
West Ham either, with manager Slaven Bilic also
hoping for a European place despite Saturday's 4-1
defeat to Swansea City.

The top four is still a possibility for the Hammers,
but the Europa League looks to be a more realistic
goal and Bilic has demanded an immediate
response to ensure they have continental football to
look forward to in their new home.

"We have to bounce back. We have two games left
and want to finish high," he said. "Our aim is to
show a good spirit and character that has been with
us all season and we hope to show that against
Manchester United.

"It will be an emotional night, but the fact that it is
the final ever game makes it even more special and
we have to stay cool and stay focused because we
want to win the game.

"We have been thinking about a European place
since we knew it was reachable and we can still do
it. When we give our best we still have a lot to
offer."

West Ham have no new injury worries, but the
visitors are likely to be without Matteo Darmian
(ankle) after he left Saturday's 1-0 win over
Norwich City on a stretcher, while Anthony Martial
(hamstring) is also a doubt after pulling up prior to
the Carrow Road clash.

Claudio Ranieri is hoping his Leicester City side can
engineer a Hollywood ending to their season as they go
to Manchester United seeking a victory that would secure
their first Barclays Premier League title on Sunday.

Having narrowly escaped relegation from the top flight
last season by winning seven of their final nine outings,
the dramatic turnaround continued into 2015-16 as
Leicester set the pace at the top of the table.

Tottenham Hotspur's failure to beat West Bromwich
Albion on Monday means the Foxes, who are seven

points clear and nine matches unbeaten, require just
three points from their three remaining matches in order
to be crowned champions.

The first opportunity to secure a maiden top-flight title
comes when Ranieri's side travel to Old Trafford, home of
the BPL's most-successful club.

The Italian is confident Leicester will be able to complete
the job, but wants to see a defining performance against
Man Utd.

"It is important for us to make a perfect game," said
Ranieri. "The best away performance of the season, we
have to do it.

"It is good we are doing something special. And of course
I am very proud for everybody in Leicester, for our
community.

"There is a good feeling about this story, but it is
important to finish the story like an American movie.
Always in the final it is OK, a happy ending.

"I feel it is very important to be concentrated 100 per
cent. The story of football is fantastic but you have to be
focused on the match. I don't tell my players to stay
calm, I say, 'stay hungry'."

United, though, are desperate to remain in the hunt for
UEFA Champions League qualification and will be
brimming with confidence after booking an FA Cup final
place with a last-gasp Anthony Martial winner against
Everton at Wembley last weekend.

Beating the leaders could play an important role in
boosting their chances, with Manchester City and
Arsenal, third and fourth respectively and five points
clear, still to face each another.

But Louis van Gaal, the Man Utd manager, expects a
typically difficult match against Ranieri, citing his
previous encounters with the Italian during their coaching
spells in Spanish football.

"It was never easy to beat his teams," said the Dutchman,
who managed Barcelona, against Ranieri's Valencia.

"Valencia and Barcelona is also more or less a derby so it
is a difficult match. He has always organised his teams
very good."

Leicester's only absentee is striker Jamie Vardy, who
completes a two-match ban.

Van Gaal has no new injury concerns to contend with,
though Bastian Schweinsteiger and Luke Shaw will not be
fit to feature.

They had progressed in the previous 13 appearances at this stage between 1976 and 2007. The Red Devils haven't lost three successive FA Cup semi-final ties since 1970 (also lost in 1965 and 1966). Romelu Lukaku has scored in each of his five FA Cup appearances for Everton (six goals). Anthony Martial has more assists in the FA Cup than any other player still in the competition (3). Louis van Gaal has hailed the achievements of
Mauricio Pochettino as Manchester United prepare
to visit Barclays Premier League title-challengers
Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Spurs go into the match at White Hart Lane this
weekend as genuine contenders for English
football's biggest prize. United, meanwhile, are in
race for the top four- they are fifth, one point behind
local rivals Manchester City with seven matches of
the league season remaining.

"I think that they have a very good squad and I have
said this also last year," Van Gaal said. "He has
made a team of this squad, a team that presses
high with a good positional game and they score a
lot of goals.

"They also have a lot of clean sheets though, which
show they are a well-organised and structured
team. I think you can give credit to Mauricio
Pochettino."

Pochettino has not only won admirers for his team's
style of play and sustained assault on the
championship but also for bringing through a core of
home-grown talent, headlined by Harry Kane and
Dele Alli, along with Eric Dier, Danny Rose and
Ryan Mason.

Speaking at his pre-match media conference on
Friday, Pochettino agreed with suggestions the
clutch of domestic talent could aspire to match the
achievements of United's 'Class of 92', a crop
including David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Gary
Neville which fired the Red Devils to more than a
decade of dominance under Sir Alex Ferguson.

"Yes, why not?" he said. "This is something we
decided on. We need to give them time to work hard
so they can improve. But I think we have showed so
far [the] quality in the team."

The match will come too soon for Wayne Rooney to
be involved as the United captain continues his
recovery from a knee injury with the club's
Under-21s. Ashley Young and Phil Jones, while
lacking sharpness, are back in selection contention.
Nabil Bentaleb (knee) is Tottenham's only confirmed
absentee, with Clinton N'Jie and Jan Vertonghen
(both knee) doubtful to return.

Everton are 12th following an inconsistent season, but make the short trip to Manchester unbeaten in their previous eight league away matches.

"We all know that Manchester United control the ball really well,” Martinez told Everton TV. “Their positional play is as good as anyone.

"They are very organised and they are in really good form. You don't get better doses of confidence than beating your rivals in the derby as they did.

"To keep a clean sheet against Manchester City at the Etihad I think shows you the type of performance they had - well balanced.

"We'll have to be at our best in imposing ourselves in our time on the ball and making sure we use that really, really well in front of goal."

Van Gaal eyes third straight win over Everton >>

Everton defender John Stones is available after suffering a knock on international duty with England, while Kevin Mirallas and Bryan Oviedo are back from suspension and a chest infection respectively.

United will be without Bastian Schweinsteiger after the Germany captain suffered knee ligament damage while away with his country.

Wayne Rooney is stepping up his recovery from a similar problem but the match against his former club comes too soon.

"It's a big blow," said Van Gaal of Schweinsteiger's setback. "He is starting his rehabilitation.

"He has more or less the same injury as Wayne. We have to see how it heals."

Speaking to MUTV, the Dutchman added: "Rooney is doing great. He trained today [Friday] at a lower level with the ball and will probably play an under-21 match before he comes back.

"Luke Shaw (broken leg) is back on the training pitch on Monday with the physio. Ander Herrera and Ashley Young (both groin) are coming back.”

United ran out 3-0 winners at Goodison Park earlier this season, with Herrera and Rooney on target after Morgan Schneiderlin opened the scoring.

MATCH PREVIEW

Manchester United and Liverpool have had many fierce meetings over the years, but this is the first time that they face one another in a European knockout match.

Liverpool travel to Old Trafford on Thursday with a 2-0 advantage following their win at Anfield in the first leg a week ago.

The winner of Thursday's clash will progress into the
quarter-finals of the Europa League .
Manchester United

Life looked a bit rosier for Louis van Gaal and his team
last month when they claimed four victories in all
competitions on the bounce.

Many believed that fixtures against Shrewsbury Town,
FC Midtjylland and Arsenal would be pivotal in deciding
whether or not Van Gaal kept his job at Old Trafford.
Thankfully for the Dutchman, though, he overcame that
test, but last Thursday the gloom returned when his
team were beaten 2-0 by their long-standing rivals at
Anfield in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.

Former United players Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand
were heavily critical of the team, who managed just five shots at goal, only one of which was on target.
United will need to show more fight and desire when
they host Liverpool on their patch, particularly as they
need to score at least three goals to progress into the
quarter-finals.

The Red Devils could be doomed should Liverpool score an away goal, but they have goalkeeper David de Gea at hand to keep them out and given that he made a handful of stops at Anfield, the Spaniard could prove to be pivotal.

The positive news for United is that they head into this
match on the back of a much-improved display against
West Ham United at the weekend.

Anthony Martial scored in the 83rd minute to seal a 1-1
draw against West Ham United in the quarter-finals of
the FA Cup, meaning that a replay will take place at
Upton Park at a later date.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp received an array of plaudits after guiding his Liverpool team to victory over Manchester United in the first leg of their Europa League tie last week.

The Merseyside outfit were quicker and sharper than
their counterparts at Anfield and installed a game plan
that United struggled to match.
Liverpool were awarded a slice of luck with a 20-minute penalty, which Daniel Sturridge converted to give the Reds the lead, and after waves of pressure, Roberto Firmino doubled the team's advantage with a goal 73 minutes into the game.

Overall, the Merseyside outfit's spell under Klopp has
been inconsistent since his arrival in October and, in a
way, that was to be expected given that the former
Borussia Dortmund boss needs time to shape his own
team.
In the last few games, though, there have been signs of
Klopp's influence, particularly as he has been able to
welcome back injured players, including Sturridge and
Philippe Coutinho.
Firmino is one member of the team who has begun to
shine following a slow start to his career at Anfield.

The Brazilian is the club's leading scorer this season with nine goals in all competitions, and three of those strikes came in the last three games.

As well as having a 2-0 lead in their favour ahead of
Thursday's game, the Reds also have a decent
European record to fall back on as they are unbeaten
since February 2015 having won four and drawn five.
In addition, the Merseyside outfit have had a whole
week to prepare for this game as they were not in
action at the weekend.

Team News
Bastian Schweinsteiger could be vying for a place in
United's starting XI on Thursday after he made his
return from injury off the substitutes bench against
West Ham.

Jesse Lingard could also return having missed the first leg at Anfield through suspension, but there will be no Wayne Rooney as the captain is not expected to be back in action until after the international break.
As for Liverpool, James Milner missed the first leg due
to illness and he is currently serving a domestic ban,
but he is eligible to feature this week.

Martin Skrtel made his return to the pitch after a
lengthy spell out recently when he featured in an
Under-21 fixture, but it will probably be too early for
Klopp to throw him back into the first team.
Aside from long-term absentees Danny Ings and Joe
Gomez , Liverpool have the majority of their senior
players fit.

Manchester United possible starting lineup:
De Gea; Varela, Smalling, Blind, Rojo; Schweinsteiger,
Schneiderlin; Mata, Lingard, Depay; Martial

Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Mignolet; Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno; Can,
Henderson; Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino; Sturridge

Head To Head
Prior to last week's result, United had beaten Liverpool
four times on the trot and they boast a positive home
record having won 12 of their last 14 matches against
their enemies in all competitions at Old Trafford.
Juan Mata may be struggling for form of late, but he
has provided three goals and five assists in his last
nine games against Liverpool.

For the Merseyside outfit, Sturridge has impressed
against United having scored five and provided one
assist in his last seven matches against them.
