Jobs/Vacancies / Re: NERC Recruitment: What's the update? by seyi42k(m): 2:36pm On Jul 21, 2014
GMB4REAL: @ Furrylaw & brosiye99...Thank u very much for the updates. Pls i urge us all to keep the house updated as soon as things happen. Let us all keep the faith, workhard & pray 2 God 2 c us thru.
Furryflow i think the fact that results were not good should not bother us, i mean this is a Fed Govt commission recruitment & u knw dat fed character applies in the process of selection which means dat each state wil hav a representativ wit d highest scorer in each state gettin d chance. U dont hav 2 score a pass mark of 70, 80 or 90% 2 get a chance rather all u need 2 do is 2 score d highest mark in ur state 10, 20 or 30 dependin on general performance of candidates in a particular state as long as u r d highest & u r thru, it is not the sch typ exam where u need to score 40 or 50% in some cases 2 pass. U could score 75% & yet not gettin d chance if others score 76% & above. So to me (PERSONALY), i think saying general results is not good is same to results very good, i mean d chances r d same. However, this is jst my opinion. I'm not intimidatin anybody rather comforting all & givin hop to hopefulls. I pray God c us all thru

I disagree,

One thing you did not consider are the results from the Zonal test. If NERC 'decides' that the test score does not meet its standard (very unlikely as this is Nigeria), it might decide to cull candidates from the Zonal applicants to the Head Office (though also unlikely).

Therefore, if the result of the HO test is generally poor and that of the Zonal test is good (I believe it was), who is to say the the chances of the HO applicants will not be hampered.

Kindly note that this is a conjecture and is therefore my opinion, not fact. The lesson is that we should always strive to do well at any time, after all anything worth doing at all is worth doing well.

Nothing yet...ohhhh...

Hi Buchio7,

Given the fact that the Zonal Update NERC recruitment you created has disappeared due to the data loss, Kindly create a new one so that we can allow the Head Office recruitment applicants to continue using this thread.

Also, has any other person received refund for transport, i.e. for Zonal recruitment interview.

Thanks.

oluface: Becareful of those He_Goats called Local Goverment Traffic Waden. If you make any slight mistake where them dey Na 20k with beg oo. Those Yaba Loacal Government Waden Alway put on Brown Uniform with the Name of Yaba Local Government on it. They are everywhere. Their own pass police own o.

I want to advise Nairalanders to stand their ground against any unauthorised traffic warden. The Lagos state constitution only recognises LASTMA & the Police.

Those Yaba guys are criminals and theives. Do not let them harrass you. They have no right to arrest you even if you are on the wrong side of the law. It has gotten to a stage where they now know my face and that of my boss at work because we always take them to task. I have rescued a driver from their hands last 3 weeks and they had to leave the driver alone.

The issue here is that a lot of us do not read our constitution and do not know our rights. Always have a copy of the traffic rules in you car and throw it at there face any time they want to harass you.

Don't ever answer them or hand over your car keys. They are crooks who have been set up by the local govt chairman to raise illegal money. If you notice, their mode of dressing, visage and carriage are no different from that of touts and criminals.

Lastly, as a driver in Lagos, it might be wise to cultivate a lawyer as a friend. If you have money, install cameras in your car, you never know when it will come in handy.

See who's talking!!! You could've said Solomon's temple was a waste of resources if you were there at that time. Hey! RCCG members are not shouting! The workers are not dying! The ministers aren't grumbling! The pastors aren't complaining! WHO ART THOU! For the pastors we know, ministers we know, workers we know, members we know but you we know not!

If you ain't intrested, walk away! Joy to the WISE, Joy to ME, I refuse to be a FOOL.

It's amazing how Nigerians can think, we don't ever think of fishing without being fed fish! Now don't make it look like you really care for this needy cos you really don't! All you ever wanted was to back your critism up with issue that'll pull the crowd!

Listen, there's a purse for the needy and besides, people are always ready to help! So, i'll advice you get a proper analysis next time.

Solomons Temple? What happened to it at the end of the day. Was it not destroyed and broken to pieces.

We are not thinking well in Nigeria. What did God give us wisdom for. Instead of enlarging the auditorium which already causes a lot of anguish to road travellers, why not use a little amount to improve satellite broadcast?

Instead of holding one massive event, why don't we make it quarterly? Instead of holding it in one place, why don't we hold it in 4 places all over the country to reduce people the number of people that congregates in a place?

I am sure a lot of road travellers don't bless the church for causing them anguish every time this convention is held, now imagine enlarging an auditorium to 3 km.

We really don't think deeply. This kind of thing will never happen in saner climes without the church paying massively for upgrading certain public infrastructure.

who told you Egypt's some utopian country free of corruption. If things are so good right there and so bad over here, how come our "shabby" economy exceeds theirs and is one of the fastest growing in Africa and the world? and if life was so good for the citizens of Egypt, how come they're out on the streets killing themselves? learn to appreciate your country Nigeria.

They are not utopian, yet they are far better than we. They may be war, but they still have power supply. Can you say the same for us?

You keep people keep repeating fastest growing nonsense, even a mad man keeps growing in levels of insanity. What has our growth turned into. Has it increased manufacturing? Has exports increased, especially Non-oil exports? Has education improved?

You are cynical about another's country's fight for independence of its soul, yet are praying to God that our country improve. Well we are a long way from where we are expected to be.

You ask why they are fighting if life was so good. They are fighting because life can be better. They believe they have wallowed in mediocrity for long and now is the time to rescue themselves from tyranny.

I see you enjoy the state this country is in; the bombings, kidnappings, piracy, terrorism, corruption etc. Yes we should thank God and be appreciative that Boko haram has not bombed MMA or the third mainland. Until then there is no problem.

It was until a friend lost his mother to kidnappers in the east on the 24th of December 2011. That was when I knew, that we are already at war with ourselves.

Yes, lets be appreciative of mediocrity. Afterall, we have not started killing ourselves, Abi.

Stop repeating this. Democratically elected or not, democratic dictatorship is the worst of all.

Mugabe is "democratically elected"
Paul Biya is "democratically elected"
Yoweri Museveni "democratically elected"

At what point does democracy stop being democracy. If he had being wise, he would have lead Egypt on a new path yet he started making the same mistakes that his predecessor made.

The same thing that Obj did and now he is saying that Nigeria is cursed because "new generation" of "leaders" have failed this country.

The very same Obj who gave up Bakassi peninsula so that the west would overlook is 3rd term bid. A 3rd term bid that would have set the same precedent experienced in the likes of Cameroon.

The same Obj that fousted uopn this country an sick president and an inept deputy. He is now an ardent critic of his handiwork.

Lets stop being political philosophers and start being realist. Morsi would have set Egypt on a path divegent from its core character. He would have made Egypt into an haven for terrorist.

You talk about the west not criticizing, has Saudi Arabia and other peaceful Middle eastern country come out to criticize?

Anyway, we will see how this will end. It is just that other nations with similar issues as we have are burning up, that should be a grave warning to us.

A grave warning indeed

Riiiight. ...tell me, how has the revolution worked out for the Arab countries. Egypt is in total chaos, Tunisia (pointzero) is in a total economic mess with daily ongoing protests, different rebel factions fight for control of Libya (oh, don't forget that a Us ambassador was murdered there with the embassy totally ransacked), the Bahrain monarchy crushed their own protest, and Syria's currently dealing with a full blown civil war that has raged on for a few years now. Talk about "progress".

Don't be intellectually dishonest.

You love or will love to go to France or the US but have conveniently forgotten the people that have died in their revolution or war.

Throughout history, how many countries can lay claim to being great without first having to wrestle power from a few who would have them in chains.

You mention Bahrain, one would have thought that an oil rich country will be at peace. You see, human nature is the same everywhere. What the Egyptians are fighting for is not for now or the next 10 years, it is for 100 years to come.

When I see a black football star being worshipped by whites, do you know who I always remember? Martin Luther King. Do you know how many other blacks also died in his silent revolution?

You say that Nigerians should not revolt, I totally agree with you and other posters but do be deceived into thinking it has not started cue MEND, OPC, BOKOHARAM, MASSOB, JAMB etc. Then add kidnappings and piracy.

What is happening in Egypt is a result for faulty leadership that plagues most African country. The west and some parts of Asia had witnessed this in the past, fought it, conquered it to an extent and has moved on.

If you think this will not happen in this country with the way we are going, you might be in for a shock. Nigeria is already at war with itself and it is only a matter of time before we explode or implode.

Do I wish for it? NO
Do I look forward to it? NO
Do I want to fight in it? NO

BUT do I wish that my progenies or descendant grapple with the same problems I am grappling with now? NO

Therefore, I am, like a lot of people in a quandry. Still undecided about how we will rescue this country. Still praying that God send a leader but secretly wishing that God should not pick him/her to be the Martin Luther for Nigeria who might end up losing his life and yet wishing that if he/she his picked, that God give him/her the strength to see it through.

My heart goes out to the people of Egypt.

The angel of the LORD also said to her: "You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard of your misery. He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers." (Genesis 16:11-12)

This is the source of all their belligerence. Their actions are driven by a greater spiritual purpose that they themselves cannot define. They claim victimization yet insist on illogical & ill thought out actions.

They say hijab is islamic but they are wrong, it is the traditional wear of middle easterns and that is why even jews are found wearing a form of it.

They want it in public schools, therefore Sango practitioners should have their sons plait hair to school, the ifa practitioners should have their children add the religious outfit to their uniforms. and what of the Ogbonis, the okijas, the animist. Yet even these other 'backward' religion know when to draw the line.

They are usually present at every flash point of note in the world today. Don't be suprised that they will get their way in Lagos. But don't despair either because just like the hen that has landed on a rope, both the hen and the rope will not have rest.

They want to use Lagos as a testing ground for this case. Should they succeed, don't be surprised that they will take it to the whole of the country. Make no mistake, this is not about the students or their rights, this is about religion using politics as a driver with sponsors that can be traced back to the Arab world.

UK this is unfair. If a Red card is appealed in the English Premiership and the appeal is dismissed, an additional one match ban is added to the initial three match ban. As Ibori appeal is dismissed, I expect an additional sentencing to the initial 13 year imprisonment. UK this is grossly unfair. I had expected an additional 7 year sentencing to make it twenty years behind bars for the Niger delta criminal.

What have you manufactured or designed in your entire miserable life to be dismissing the above listed achievements? Are human beings not driving Innoson vehicles, MANUFACTURED IN NIGERIA (not ''assembled'', you ignorant layabout)? Why do I have to be the one driving it in order to acknowledge it? Your mind can only think of ''pure water factories'' because you are a sick, demented, dark soul who revels in negativity. Why are you insulting Zinox computers? They are a very serious outfit:

http://www.zinoxtechnologies.com/

Innoson Motors won the prestigious African Business of the Year Award in 2012, organized by African Business Magazine and the Commonwealth Business Council in London:

http://www.businessdayonline.com/NG/index.php/news/76-hot-topic/39638-innoson-group-wins-2012-african-business-of-the-year-award

The NigerSat Satellite was built by Nigerians. Have you praised them for that effort before asking if it was built in Nigeria? If they build the next one in Nigeria, will you not dismiss it by claiming it was merely ''assembled'' here? What have you personally built of note whether in or outside Nigeria? Damn negativist. Instead of you to see how you can add to the accomplishments of the above, all you know is to tear down and insult your betters.

I wonder the kind of training you had growing up. It bugles my mind the way you present issues and ideas. I read most of your post dispassionately and I have never found an iota of common sense.

It is either you are contrarian and brutish to engender discussion on behalf of nairaland which will in turn increase page ranks like some have adduced to or you are really a government sponsored operative. However, it will really be unfortunate for you if you are neither any of the above but truly believe all the tripe you write.

You stated that I insulted a company. I have gone through this thread and incidentally, you are the one insulting our collective sensibilities. You mentioned Nigersat....the very same one built in China? or was it built and sent to space in Nigeria?
Science/Technology / Re: Nigeria Is Among Science-Lagging Developing Countries by seyi42k(m): 10:06pm On Apr 10, 2013
Rossikk:

You need to use your brain and be less agreeable to just anybody's claims on the internet.

Let me give you an example:

Nigeria manufactures cars, buses, trucks, suvs (Innoson). Manufactures complete motorcycles, including principal component parts and engines (Qinggi). Manufactures computers, tablets and accessories (Zinox). Today the world's first and only black built satellite, NigerSat 2 sits in outer space, an achievement of Nigerian scientists. The Nigerian Navy now builds seaworthy vessels from scratch, with 100% local input, like NNS Andoni, a 31m Seaward Defence Boat. The Nigerian Defence Industries builds mortars and RPG launchers, armoured personnel carriers, and manufactures their own bullet proof vests. Nigeria has three functional nuclear reactors. Nigeria manufactures and fabricates aluminium. Manufactures chemicals, including agro-chemicals. Manufactures paint. Manufactures drugs for the pharmaceutical industry. Nigeria processes solid minerals like Calcium Carbonate, Dolomite, and Limestone. I could go on and on and on..

Now, there are many countries that are NOT on that list of ''those lagging behind'', who cannot boast of 1/5 of the achievements I've just outlined.

WHY THEN SHOULD WE ACCEPT THE LIST?

When even YOU don't know what is produced in Nigeria, how will some foreign group not wake up and include Nigeria on any stupid list? They know you don't read or research. That's what gives them the audacity.

I mean, just because CNN and co choose to IGNORE all scientific strides made in Nigeria (afterall is Boko Haram not the only worthy news item?) does not mean WE in Nigeria will pretend we are standing still.

What are you talking about. Do you drive Innoson vehicles? How many chips did Zinox design or make and do you have a zinox computer at home? Was the satellite built in Nigeria?

Even if you are a paid government agent (like a lot of nairalanders think and I am wont to agreeing with), you should concede defeat in certain areas. Even the US secretary of state will diplomatically acknowledge some shortcomings.

Zinox Ko, Innoson ni. You should have mentioned that Nigeria has the largest number of pure water factories in the world. Now that we are assembling parts from all over the world, we are suddenly now a scientifically advanced country.

Come on, even if you are a staunch believer in this hapless government. Once in a while, don't post mediocre points as the above. However, I cannot blame you, afterall this is the Nigeria of your dreams.

I find it odd that we are rebasing our GDP all in the name of chest beating to show some fictitious growth when there are benefits in making the world believe we are a small economy just like Singapore did for years.

Why? cheaper loans for one, more aids, less stringent requirements for certain things. This will allow us develop with more added pressure from comparing ourselves to other economies.

I need to open up this new page without having to quote anyone cos so many people have done just perfect to have followed up my thrend and drop a good comment. However, I commend those with negative contributions too cos they are also part of progress am about experiencing at the moment to better my marriage.

Frankly speaking, your comments have been making waves in sorting us out a little bit cos despite the commencement of the whole problem, the calls goes on. But right now, I had to get home from work, check ppls comments on NL & May be discuss with him for just half an hour & st8t to bed.

I will use dis opportunity to answer few questions from the comments!

1. How long is the marriage btw Us?

The marriage btw Morenike & I clocked 3yrs feb 2013.

2. No of kids?

God just answered us and we are expecting a baby soon by his grace.

3. If she is a nigerian.

She finished her secondary school in Fakunle comprehensive high school in osogbo, osun state nigeria and university education in the united kingdom. we met in a friends child dedication three months after I relocated to uk.

Useful facts!

We stays in our own apartment which we bought 2011 with my share being 70% from the total cost of the properties. Although its by mortgage but all the documents were prepared under her name cos of all the rights she has over me as a UK citizen.

I know so many ppl will attack me for taken the above action but I see her as my wife and never thought of any instance that might root the case out of us in a negative way. I have accepted her after our marriage and building our home should be our topmost idea which I prioritized.

Negative comments from the Thrend.

Some people castigated my useful calls to my friend and even tag it to be a Guy stuff.....

For your information, we don't discuss issues that won't better our life....let me tell you for example, he is an electrical engineer, for the last 2ys he has been working on solar energy & innovations. And part of our crew put some finishing touches to the team that came 2 naija 2 install that of ondo state.

All we talk are based on how to develop ourselves, most especially in a land where you don't have a family that would checkmate you or give you directions.

I got converted to a xtain abt 14yrs ago in the university. Dayo is a gud Muslim but one thing that surprised me is that, that didn't stop our friendship. In fact, I tried getting him converted too but he is so principled and focus that he holds on2 his religion and never discourage my decision.

People should know that there are people out there ready to do anything just to see a smile on their fellow humans face.

I don't kw ao it goes, but I must confess all we talk about are some important issues and not those ones that would affect or be of a negative impact to us as a whole.

Dayo has 3 kids and his wife is from rivers state Bonny lady precisely! Most atyms I wonder y tribe can't really play a good impacts on our side having married a yoruba lady whom I think should understand better and keep devil off our path on the so called scenario.

Conclusion.
My MIL according to the Pastor called him on phone and the has taken a full charge of the heat. But it wasn't funny that they didn't mention the threats and warnings given to the pastor.

Well,we were both there yesterday & the pastor advised us together and called me to a separate room and insist I reduced the calls from dayo or take time to hang out weekends to discuss fatal issues if need be.

He also warned me of my MIL and said he will keep praying along side with me for a breakthrough.

******************

Right now, things are little bit down but I noticed she is always looking sick due to her condition. We didn't go to church today cos she complained of not feeling so good and vomited that I had to clean up and made her breakfast. As am updating here on NL she is on the bed sleeping after I got her hot custard & chips.

The Pastor didn't allow us to give details on the cause of the problem. He only advise us and asked us to stand as husband and wife, seeing it has one of the challenges of marriages so many atimes ppl face in life.

BUT as for me, the Q is, how do I gradually help mysf from it.... Then from what happened, I have gained a lot of things and its making me not to be too free to Mprenike again! Do I just let go & start another life with HER after her nasty threats?

I'm here 2 at least reduce that actions of mine.......but Morenike really hurt my feelings & our baby is all I look up to see right now.

***************************************************************************
I still need to call her cos we still have to settle out some critical issue that only the both of us could settle.....

I think am getting it right taken dis action?

Dayo and his family are coming to pay us a visit by 4pm today. And I hope this will

Hi Zeefa,

Nollywood script or not, reality is often times stranger than fiction. Take a break from everything; posting on nairaland, talking with your friend, thinking about this issue etc. Go to disneyland or something.

You have learnt some lessons which everybody that has read this thread will add to their own lives. Points of note for you, me and everyone.

1. Never register all your assets in the name of another in the name of love. Lawyers always advice against it because of issues like the one you have mentioned. Always seek fair representation, especially in societies overly sympathetic to a gender over the other, e.g. western societies are too feminine while african societies are too masculine. Again, always seek fair representation.

2. When this is over, forgive her threats. It could be a result of hormonal changes due to the pregnancy.

3. Cut down on your calls to your friend. However, there is nothing wrong in talking to a friend for over 2 hours daily. In fact the same scenario plays out in the small company I am working with now. I and my boss were former bankers who left banking last year. It was his friend in the UK who gave him 25% of his registered company so that he can manage it. The company is a success story so far. People should go and read the story of Goldman Sachs on how a family business can become a global giant. It often starts from relationships such as yours.

Also, try to get your wife into intellectual discussions which could stimulate better communication between both of you. I have discovered that people with analytical/philosophical minds always have something to discuss every hour of the day. I always imagine myself living in the same room with Gani, Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe. Just imagine the quality and quantity of discussions.

4. As for your MIL. Seek counselling from your pastor.

5. Lastly, wetin all of una dey do for UK? If you are well to do, get an equivalent job in Nigeria and come make an impact here. I hear you talking about Solar for Ondo State. That is fantastic. However, it is your insistence to become a UK citizen that has given your wife an edge over you. Come back to Nigeria and build your wealth.

The company that I work, which I spoke about above, been managed by my boss has made more money than the one in the UK. Infact, the other owners are now seriously considering relocating so that their children can understand what it means to be blessed and not take things for granted.

If you have the connections that landed you a contract with the Ondo state govt. You should grow this connection and make an impact in the society while growing your wealth. This will be to the overall benefit of your family.

Please take good care of your wife.

Good luck.
