Politics / Re: Throwback video of Tinubu campaigning to bring down price of petrol by seyiho(m): 3:00pm On Sep 15
Keaton:

How much are they paying you? How much is your soul worth? I'm asking because I want to buy it. I know it must be cheap, because Nigerian politicians don't rate their citizens so I'm guessing it must be less than N50,000. That's around $30, right? I will pay you $50 a month to tell the truth, how about that? That's money for 2 meals here, it should be worth your soul for 1 month.

Don't mind that empty headed human being.

The price of petrol in Nigeria is still one of the lowest in the world.

The only difference is that we are not subsidizing it for now which is not a bad thing.

The money that would have been used for subsidy is being channeled into infrastructure development

We should all sit down and figure out the system of government that will resolve all these disparities

What about the VAT generated from the sale of cows?

We need a referendum and not an election to determine where we're going to

Please always think before commenting, have you ever hear any state banning sales of cow?

Business / Nigerian Govt To Unveil N100bn Consumer Credit Soon – FIRS Boss by seyiho(m): 8:41am On Mar 28
The Federal Inland Revenue Service Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, said the Nigerian government would unveil its proposed N100 billion consumer credit loan in a couple of days.

Adedeji disclosed this on Wednesday, when the Chief Executive Officer of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Adebayo Alli, led the company’s management team on a visit to the Revenue House in Abuja.

According to him, in a statement by his media aide, Dare Adekanmbi, the credit scheme will reduce Nigerians’ economic hardship.

“In a couple of days, the consumer credit scheme will be launched, setting the proper fundamentals, especially for the products you sell.

“In an economy of our size, it will be tough if we don’t have a consumer credit scheme. People need to eat before they drink. But when they have credit to buy things, this gives them more money that they can use to come to drink and relax after work.

Recall that on March 14, 2024, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Atiku Bagudu, said the government earmarked N100 billion in the 2024 Appropriation bill for the consumer credit scheme.

“We have put N100bn in the budget for consumer credit. To us, it is important because the manufacturing sector is struggling with two challenges: efficiency of production and finding somebody who can buy from them,” he said.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had signed the N28. 7 trillion national budget of 2024 into law on January 1.

Agriculture / Ondo Farmers Protest Alleged Destruction Of Farms By Chinese Company by seyiho(m): 8:52pm On Mar 27
Some farmers in Ondo State have kicked against the move by the state government to lease their land to a Chinese company.

The farmers from no fewer than 24 communities within the state disclosed that the decision by the state government would jeopardise their livelihoods if the government refused to rescind its decision.

While protesting against the development, the affected farmers stated that they were infuriated upon seeing numerous bulldozers clearing away their cocoa farms in the area.

They pleaded with the government to reconsider the decision, emphasising the importance of their land for the production of cocoa, palm oil, cashew, and other agricultural products.

The affected agrarian communities include Laosho, Ulugba, Adejori, Kabiyesi, Lafa, Oloruntedo, Obadore Yinka, Keseomi, Lomofe, Gbekelu, Langbodo, Abuja, Lopaun, Sahara, Aba Cocoa, Topeu, Bolorunduro, Iyolope, and Yemisi, among others.

The protesters who barricaded the Ondo-Ore expressway in Ondo town displayed placards with various inscriptions to inform the government of their grievances. The protest caused a heavy traffic gridlock on the road as travellers were delayed for hours.

Some of the inscriptions on the placards read, “Let the Farmers Breathe,” “No Farmers, No Nation,” “We are not Slaves,” and “Don’t Turn Us to Kidnappers and Bandits,’ among others.

Speaking at the palace of the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo, the former Secretary of Ondo West Local Council, Alhaji Oluwole Bashiru, appealed to the Governor Aiyedatiwa-led administration to correct the wrongs perpetrated by the past administration.

On his part, Oba Kiladejo urged the farmers to continue to tread the path of peace for the issue to be properly addressed.

Sports / Serie A: Osimhen Steps Up Recovery Ahead Atalanta Clash by seyiho(m): 8:35pm On Mar 27
Victor Osimhen is set to recover in time for Napoli’s Serie A home clash against Atalanta this weekend, DAILY POST reports.

Nigeria didn’t feature in Napoli’s 1-1 draw with Inter Milan before the international break due to fitness concerns.

Osimhen also pulled out of Nigeria’s squad for the friendlies against Ghana and Mali in a bid to regain full fitness.

The 25-year-old was involved in partial team training at Napoli’s Konami Training Centre on Wednesday.

The forward is expected to be named in the Partenopei’s squad for the game.

Osimhen has scored 11 goals in 17 league appearances for the reigning Serie A champions this season.

Napoli will host Atalanta at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Saturday.
