Abubakar96: What you don't understand is technology market is not a consumable or perishable goods market. We deal in things that last for 2-5 years so definitely at one time or the other the demand for this products is expected to have a sharp decline and with decrease in demand comes a decrease in price more especially now that there's excess supply of these phones. Tech market moves in relation to the economy. There's now a general decline in the prices of all these high end phones because of their demands and change in consumers spending habits.
Secondly, this business thrives on low balling, the whole model is as a result of low balling. If the oyinbos said they're no longer selling to Nigerians because of low balling, they won't close OfferUp but rather look for other markets for their devices. We see ridiculous TLC deals posted everyday, if I see some deals for mikky's WhatsApp I go say na jazz. Even in CV or any other markek, people low ball. I'm very sure on one or more occasion, you or someone have priced an item of over 10k for 1k, it's the market, this thing happen all the time but doesn't mean market should be shut down.
Another thing to note is that the whole model of this business is based on an interconnected number of large middlemen. You hardly find an end user here from what I can deduce. Everyone buys and sells for profit. You buy from seller and pay the picker for his service, your deal buyer also buys and add your profit, he also looks for another to sell to and so and so until it reaches the ultimate buyer. Nobody wants to enter a business where he gets nothing from, what's the point. Someone made mention of a price ceiling and minimum price of 10-20k from CV, how is that going to work or how would it be sustainable? Before the phones get to the ultimate end user, the prices would be more than that of CV. And the reason for people buying at this low prices is this is a highly risky business, you don't expect someone to take a greater risk only to sell at the same profit margin with CV people. PHONES are not the problems, but the availability of buyers, they are thousands of phones in the market, how else do resellers who buy from deal hunters convince the buyer that they should buy their products? It's either PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION of COST LEADERSHIP, and there is nothing different about the products we're offering compared to that of CV so the best way to withstand competition from CV or other markets is to offer a lower price.
You want to sell at the price of CV, good and fine but also be prepared to wait as long as they do before selling a single device.
If your business is not moving, change your strategy. Re-strategizing is as important in business as buying and selling. You don't blame your customers for you not selling your goods. Other people here sell daily and hardly enter any trouble with buyers, you don't hearethem complaining.
It once took me 6 months to sell a galaxy S9, I had to make a loss. Tere's an iPhone 8 I'm yet to sell since last year, it's just business. Sometimes is favourable, other times it's not.
Even pickers enter their troubles but they don't stop picking. Thank you, bros. Very balanced view. It's funny how some people here are complaining about lowballers, even when they lowballed oyinbo people too. We're all hustlers, and we're supposed to help each other grow. Even in CV, sellers may go a week or two without making sales. Abi you think say na so money dey flow? Many a time, when new iPhone and Samsung phones flood the market (no thanks to street boys), the bigboy sellers also have to buy cheap and sell cheap too, because it's a volatile market. Phones don't appreciate, no be land, they depreciate....unless there's a scarcity of the particular model. Nairaland Technology Market is supposed to be a virtual alternative to Computer Village, like Jiji, OLX, and Konga are. Many of us learned from the big ballers here. Many sellers and deal hunters in the market now, but number of end users have not increased, rather, sharp guys are also buying good deals to resell for 3-10k profit. At all, at all, subscription and suya money dey comot, and, we move on to the next one. Make una no let una individual greed close the one avenue serving everybody else, because you want to push the competition out. Some of you dealhunters don belleful, forget you were once struggling and asking trusted pickers and dealers to endorse you, to get importers and buyers to patronize you. Started from the bottom, now you're here, and you don't want others to come through the door. You wanna shut it. If na so others before you do, you go reach where you dey? I also love the comment by drey22. Nairaland gave us all a platform to benefit from. Even when we began to use the Technology Market for what it wasn't intended for, they still let us. Many have sold and bought goods and services worth millions from here. Did Seun collect N1 naira from you? Do you ever buy his ads? Abi una dey pay Dragnet for moderation of the threads here? Their only payment and joy is that your activities drive traffic to the site. Yet, all that some of you can think of is to create a WhatsApp or Telegram group. SMH. Let the dealings go on. Here on Nairaland. Decisively deal with erring deal hunters and pickers to book. Leave sellers to sell at whatever price they want to sell; this is not the only platform for sales. Buyers lowball sellers in Ikeja CV, every other day, and Ikeja is always open for business. It's my prerogative as a seller, to sell 20 phones in a month and make 5k profit on each. If you prefer to sell one phone in one week, and you make 15-20k on each of 4 or 5 phones in a month, it's very okay. Do whatever works for you, WITH YOUR MONEY/INVESTMENT. |

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus for sale.
Has cracked screen with a wide row of green/white/pink lines. Back glass is cracked too.
Phone doesn't charge. Once you plug in the charger, or put the phone on a wireless charging pad, phone goes off. It's not a charging port or battery issue (I know, because I have changed them before). The power management IC (controls the cable and wireless charging modules) has to be replaced, by a competent engineer.
For now, I use the board of an S7 Edge phone with bad screen, to charge the battery of the S8 Plus. So, you can test and see that everything works perfectly in it.
Selling S8 Plus for N25,000.
Selling the S7 Edge complete panel too (At&t branded. Fully unlocked) for N20,000. Phone works flawlessly. Only issue is the cracked screen.
I can sell both for N35k

So, anyone buying the S8 plus is buying it to fix the power IC first or an engineer who needs it for parts or has a S7 Edge panel to charge it I do. |

spartacus11: This is just the truth Bro
Why not allow a deal to land, examine what u want to buy and pay, even if u will end up paying more
If u don't have the cash to pay for deals, why not sell the link, and gets paid when the item has been pick
Most of this transaction takes place in Lagos, why don't we have some guys who can stand in for those not in lag, to access if an item is as discribe for buyers, i have to waste 12k on waybill all bcus i wasn't in lag to confirm the state of a product, IBL will simply tell u he doesn't confirm the state of a product he only picks up and waybill, someone should add value to this and make some cash.
For me i will be willing to pay someone to go to a deal in Lag, access the item, send me pics and videos, identify and know fault as seen if any, charge a fee for his services, i conclude deal and probably waybill With IBL You can employ me, boss. Egbeda, Lagos based. |

Shadowdreams: 1. It runs on android version 8.0
2. From the call settings there's "int'l call settings" clicked on it and it has dialing codes of about 18 countries there with Japan the very first on the list. I added Nigeria's to the list and the problem is still there, replaced Japan with Nigeria and still the same... i deleted all of them and left just Nigeria's (+234) and I'm still having same issue.
3. There's no "software update" on the phone. could only find "system update" which is for updating the android version of the phone. From your answer in number 2, it seems that flashing it is the only possible solution. Search online for Sharp phone forums, if any, or any other forum where your phone may be supported. Also, go to the website of Sharp mobile phones, and check if there's a possible software ROM for our region. You need to flash that Japan ROM out of the phone. |

Shadowdreams: Engineers in the house please a need ya help.
So i got this "Japan used" Sharp-Aquos SHV37 phone a week ago. The phone is cool, considering the amazing price but i noticed some issues with it, guess the issues is why it's that cheap...
First is that the phone requires me to "choose dialing destination" asiin to add an international dialing code for all calls else the call won't go through. It brings out a "dialing destination" dialogue screen each time i dial a number asking "To Japan" or "To Overseas" if i choose "to Japan" it will automatically add +81(Japan's dialing code) to the number inputed and dial but if choose "to Overseas" it will ask ask that u add the call destinatiion dialing code. Even when I wan call Basira wey dey end of my street to ask weda her ewa agoin and agege bread don ready i must add +234 or the call no go go.
The main issue here is that there's no way for me to successfully dial any USSD code(*123#, *556# etc.) cause the thing go still dey require international dialing code and even if u add am(like +234*123#) it still wont work. Incoming calls are working perfectly same also the browsing and its really fast(better 4G no be all those half-G wey dem tecno and infinix dey get) and the outgoing calls too so long i add the +234 to the numbers i want to call.
...and sim contacts too are not showing on the phone.
The seller still has more of the phone. If there's a way to fix the issue na to go buy the remaining ones be dat ooo. Okay. Let me try. 1. What software is the phone currently running? 2. From your dial screen or from contacts, or from settings, try to look for Call Settings. There, you'll be able to see some settings for international calling, TTY mode etc. Also, you may need to set home network/country to Nigeria, from the call settings. That's one of the ways the phone will stop going to Japan. 3. You may need to take the phone to Ikeja, or go online to download the software for our region, so that it can be flashed on the phone. Just go to Sharp's website, for this, and pray that the phone is still supported 4. Upload screenshots of the dial pad, call settings area, and we can try to guide you. |

Rajman45: Gurus in the house,.....How can I sent up sim card lock for the first time. It keep showing me input password, and I have never looked my sim before now. You're probably being asked for phone password, not SIM card password. So, type your phone password there. If your phone doesn't have a password, the default password is usually 0000, or 00000, or 1234, or 12345. Try any of these, and let us know. |
