Car Talk › Re: Nwanneni's Road To Recovery by Shagati(m): 1:08am On Sep 30, 2018 |
weyreypey: His budget is extremely excessive. Like Gazzuzz said, the costs creep up on you. Especially stuff like freight, unplanned labour etc Imagine you have completed your budget for a quick restoration and you realise dashboard removal (to replace ac blower for instance) is a specialised job that costs N10k. You had not factored this in before. Spring removal from struts is another one. N2k per corner. Then those darned rusted bolts that require Mr. Welder to bring his machine, boom! Another N5k don go. Like I said. Never underestimate the f""k factor in restorations. Das all. |

Stay in the east and accessing parts here is ill need suspension and steering pump If it were me, I would order new struts from the States or Europe depending on vehicle source. Not sure there are old Jag dedicated parts dealers in Ladipo but I can help check. Like I said in your other thread, pics and vin please |

Why is it not plying Nigerian roads today? I know very well that Mazda is quite a durable brand that has been in Nigeria for a long time. what is going on?
cc. Shagati, Egunmogaji I saw one in IITA, Ibadan in February last year. Same colour and wheels as your picture. That is one confirmed sighting for you. The reason it isn't two is that money nefa reash for my own as I would buy at the drop of a hat! Same colour, same wheels! ! ! |

radautoworks: Can't do it. A two door sports car comparison to an entry level suv PRIVATE JET PJ = Private jet. Lighten up ma'am radautoworks: I'm on the fence about this one because once again, both cars serve completely different purposes but the ages might make the comparison worthwhile. Refer to my earlier post. There is a point of similarity between them - power/driving satisfaction etc. 'Asker' would like to know likely pitfalls if any one versus the other. I get your point though HeavenlyBang: You're forgetting that some of the people asking such questions are completely ignorant about cars. Can't blame them, in that case. And that's why this thread exists. Thank you sir! radautoworks: True. Very true. I didn't consider that. Oho, you are starting to see the light Well done ma |

radautoworks: Right? Corolla= entry level economy sedan Camry= mid family sedan radautoworks: Are we serious with most of these comparisons Can we at least compare cars in the same class I am so confused and horrified. Or is this based on what we can bu y them for in Nigeria? Dear Sis, for your clarity: Compare kəmˈpɛː/ verb 1. estimate, measure, or note the similarity or dissimilarity between. synonyms: contrast, set side by side, juxtapose, collate, differentiate, weigh up, balance, weigh/balance/measure the differences between
To get a comparison of similarly classed vehicles is the easiest thing to do via any number of auto sites cars.com, edmunds.com etc. I believe the purpose of this thread is to have real life (read Naija) comparisons of similar/dissimilar vehicles from hands-on experts to help one decide on a choice for the long run. A comparative analysis may well inform one that what you really need is cabin and boot space and not engine power and fuel consumption. Please let people ask their qweshun o! Persin wey ask nor dey lost. You can please kick off your contribution with the PJ vs Veyron one. That is one choice dilemma that has been bothering me too |

HeavenlyBang: If I could suggest, why not an M35? You used to own a G35 IIRC. An M would be perfect for your needs. It has more luxury than the IS and W204, more space, and similar power. Only issue with it is poor mpg, really. That is ONE ugly car sir. Unless of course the 2011+ which is not the best looker either

HeavenlyBang: Great comparison!
Now, the C350 vs the IS350, on the other hand, is a more interesting battle. The IS350, alongside the Infiniti G35 and 335i, sit at the table of powerful compact sports sedans with 300HP+
I'd buy the IS350, mostly because you just cannot beat Lexus reliability. It's the more powerful car, too. Great and thanks for the insights. Rear legroom seems to be higher up on the priorities list for me so it is still looking like a tough call. The IS350 in good condition already landed in Lagos is a rarer sight than the Merc 350. Oh well. Decisions, decisions |

obekediamondfuto: none If that is the case.... but with the current situation of things, Ricky probably is helping ticky sell off and probably did not out rightly buy off from ticky.....
even if he did he wouldn't spend all he did for a Nigerian used car.... he will still wanna try his luck with other buyers and probably bought this ride for less than 900k but wants to make like 500k+ without being transparent enough.....
when someone decides to suppress shortage, the philosophy is; that person will definitely suppress overage.... Bro, I am not saying it is or isn't the case. Just a story to broaden our horizon and realise that all may not always be as they seem. |

Let me tell you a fictional story: Ticky owns car. Ticky is frustrated with car. Car has shown Ticky pepper. Overheating, white engine smoke, giganormous fuel bill, engine oil dropping on driveway, tyres wearing unevenly in front etc etc etc!! Ticky offers car for sale for cheap. Ricky sees ad and comes and examines car thouroughly for faults. Ricky makes mental calculation of sorting car issues out. Patapata N200k. Ricky buys car. Ricky is very handy and tech savvy. He replaces top gasket, corrects kazeemised thermostat, replaces water in radiator with proper coolant, changes fluids and filters. Checks ac system for leaks, replaces one hose, recharges ac with gas....back to factory chilling, two ball joints replaced, two front tokunbo tyres installed to replace bald ones, one or two sensors replaced....etc etc etc etc Ricky comes back and offers car for sale at +40% of what he bought it. Sir, which laws have been broken by either Ticky or Ricky?? |

danadam: I have used 2 different generations of civic coupe/hatchback currently using a BMW E46 coupe friends, family and colleagues usually ask "why do like comot make i enter" and i reply them "i just like am, its more finer in my eyes" i also observed that most people believe that coupe owners money no reach to buy sedan that's why we are driving coupes. It all boils down to culture and village people tins. Our culture in Nigeria is communal and non-individualistic. We have a gbogbo ero mentality. Why will I buy a car that I can't roll with my 'boys' in? Coupes were designed for young people with small (no) family. And yes, it caters to mid-life crisis Brosses too |
