Why Enugu Airport Project Will Be Delayed – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari stated on Wednesday that the terminal of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu will be delayed.

He said this was as a result of the reduction in the cost of the repair by 75 percent.

The President disclosed this on his official Twitter handle, following the signing of the 2018 budget in Abuja.

He tweeted, “The provision for construction of the terminal building at the Enugu airport was cut from N2bn to N500m, which will further delay the completion of this critical project.”

The Federal Government had a few years ago, decided to give the Enugu airport a facelift, with modern facilities to attract more flights, following its upgrade to an international airport.

The Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, had said during a recent facility tour of the airport that when modernised, it would attract multi-billion naira investments in Enugu State.

However, since the project commenced, no definite completion date has been set for the terminal’s completion.

Buhari has finally lost the entire South-East vote.

No matter the camp you belong - Nigerian Igbo, IPOB, etc Please and Please , register and get your PVC card. You can get it in your state of residence if it is where you will vote, else get it wherever you intend to cast your vote.

I'm more worried by IPOB. Even if you get Biafra today, you will not get international recognition immediately. See Somaliland - still uses Somalia international passport, North Cyprus - still covered by Turkey. Somaliland has their own military, more organized and thriving economy than rogue and lawless Somalia. Yet they are not yet recognized - both currency and passport. They are currently working on it and might take several more years to get it. But I'm positive they will get it one day. So I'm not discouraging secessionists, instead asking them to apply wisdom.

So what I'm saying in a nutshell is , even if we conduct referendum and declare a republic and Nigeria did not fight back seriously or even lose, it may take up to 10years or more to get recognized by countries like US or UK.

So in the meantime, please play Nigerian politics to the fullest while planning your secession. Seek for positions and change the current underdevelopment of Eastern Nigeria. Igbos need a leader that can guard us in the real direction to achieving great future for the eastern region. Nnamdi Kanu was just about doing that,we need to have one party,one voice and one agenda. If not we won't succeed. For instance Nnamdi Kanu attracted over 1m people in one rally in Ekwulobia in Anambra State and the message was lost that day.The message should have been,go and register and vote Mr. A to start the revolution from Anambra and beyond. Total vote cast in last Anambra governorship election was below 500k.But Nnamdi Kanu commands over 1m followers in Anambra State. Do the maths and you will understand why we need a leader.

I have flown from Washington DC to Enugu via Addis Ababa and my husband also flew the same day from Washington to Lagos via Addis Ababa and we both paid $1200 for the round trip regarless if we were landing in Enugu or Lagos. We flew in the same flight until we got to Addis Ababa and he joined the plane going to Lagos and i joined the plane going to Enugu. Mind you we started our journey from New Orleans using United Airways which was part of the total ticket.
I don't know where the information that flying to Enugu costs more, except this is something they do to people purchasing tickets locally that are not doing so through Ethiopian Airline website or their office in Polo Park Mall. I also know it is harder to purchase tickets on Expedia and other travel sites since Ethiopian airline wants you to purchase from their site only and they will still call you to confirm the flight booking.
