My profession has made me travel around various countries as well as carry out comparative analytics between sectors of various countries.

My earlier statement that caused this heat here was saying; Brazil is a Latin version of Nigeria & if Nigeria was to be viewed from a Latino perspective, you would get Brazil.

Please take note I made a comparison of Nigeria's potential to Brazil's current level, based on similar figures both countries have. I didn't not make a direct comparison of ranking between the two countries.

No 1: Population: Nigeria and Brazil have similar population figures with Brazil edging out by total population but Nigeria edging out by growth. Both countries have rather similar numbers when it comes to demographics.

No 2: Federal system of government: both Nigeria and Brazil have the same Federal system of government. with a roughly equal number of states (36 for Nigeria and 27 for Brazil) and artificially created, new capital cities (Abuja and Brasilia), which were started in the 1970s and 1960s, respectively, operate as special federal districts, and have rapidly grown to become major cities. The architecture of both cities suffers from their young age and the uninspired design influences of their times

How the political atmosphere of both countries align
No 3: In Brazil powerful state governors control jobs and government funds and use this power to dominate the legislative branch, not only the legislatures of their own states but also the members of their state delegations to the national Congress. Using the funds doled out to them by the governors, Brazilian legislators maintain their power and influence in a political culture known as "clientelism," similar to the style of old-fashioned political bosses in American cities. Political parties are relatively weak, and legislators maintain themselves in office by currying favor with their governors... in Nigeria we all know what godfatherism means in the political landscape so it's basically "clientelism and godfatherism" in the two countries.

As for location advantages, I never implied that Other countries support Brazil, I meant Brazil has a lot of Alliances within the region that has contributed to progressive development.

So please I didn't say Brazil and Nigeria were of the same ranking, however due to similar figures Nigeria can catch up with Brazil because it is attainable.
I completely agree with the above points. We are all here to learn. Thank u

Brazil has great potential. They experimented with socialism not all that long ago, and had a lot of government corruption. Kudos to them for putting corrupt politicians in jail in recent years including former Presidents. One even ran for President from jail cool

The drug gangs run the Favelas which are poor areas, they have some epic battles with the police. They need to repeal the gun laws that took away guns from the law abiding citizens.
Correct.

Healthcare , Transport and electricity coupled with over 240million population is wats tempting me about brazil for biz ...
I will choose Sweden over Brazil. Brazil even has more than what u stated above. E.g. security, credit facility, passport is highly valuable. Visa free to over 140 countries etc

I was not mincing words when I compared Nigeria to Brazil, I repeat if Nigeria was on another continent, Nigeria would be identical to Brazil.

Nigeria has Brazil's economic potential, in fact the country with an almost identical economic index to Brazil is Nigeria-from Human resources to Natural resources the only striking difference is the management of these resources of which Brazil has an upper hand ... this is where location plays a role.

However Brazil is on a more sane continent, how does location help? If Nigeria was within the Americas, the alliances formed with neighboring countries would have been very progressive, which would have had an effect on the way things are done in general management included ... mind you Brazil is a much older country compared to Nigeria, so the economy reflects the location as well as the age of the country.

Currently Brazil has a better economy but it's not a distance Nigeria can't catch up with if act's were gotten right.
Nigeria catch up with Brazil? I wasn't talking about the potentials Nigeria has. I'm not arguing about the future but the present.Nigeria should solve it's electricity problem first amongst many problems Nigeria has. Nigeria is even regarded as a third world country but Brazil isn't. Besides, Brazil is d one helping neighbouring countries not the other way round. I'm just correcting your earlier statement cos alot of people come read up topics on Nairaland not because they r interested in the content of the topic but are here to educate themselves. We should endeavour to state facts on a public forum. Someone just corrected u about Venezuela having more crime rate than Brazil. I observed u were wrong on that but just decided to let dat slide. Nonetheless, people like us still appreciate people who contribute to topics cos that what makes d forum interesting and educative. Thanks.

I think you are wrong 100%

Crime in Brazil is not up to Venezuela own.

Venezuela is the answer not Brazil
He doesn't know much about Brazil. He was even saying Brazil is helped by other neighbouring countries. Brazil is d one helping other neighbouring countries. Giving aids to them. It is d giant of South America.

Brazil is just the Latin version of Nigeria if you asked me...

Want to know how Nigeria would look like from a South American scope... Brazil is the answer.
I hope u are not comparing Nigeria economy to Brazil. Economically, Brazil beats Nigeria hands down in all aspects. Healthcare, education, transportation, electricity etc. If u r talking about crime, I agree with u.
Op, choose Sweden. Living in Sweden gives u access to over 20 countries cos Sweden is in Schengen as well as many other advantages over living in Brazil.

Hello @shallypop

Please did you apply for the visa while already showing?

What documents did you use and was it tourism or childbirth application?
I applied as a tourist cos that is d only way to get their visa if u do not know anyone there. My hubby submitted and collected d visa on my behalf cos I didn't want them to know I was pregnant. I heard it is not possible again cos alot of Nigerians are going there to give birth under d disguise of tourism. So u have to apply in person. The visa is now extremely difficult cos their immigration is complaining dat Nigerians pregnant women are trooping in2 their country to give birth using their free healthcare. Nothing is impossible as people still get their visas though.Public healthcare is free. In fact u will be given some baby things In d hospital like pampers, baby clothes etc. Also, three times meal until u r discharged from d hospital.Free test for your baby and subsequent monthly check up until d baby is 1. When d baby is born, series of test will be conducted to know if hes healthy. Eg PUK, hearing test , blood group and genotype etc. It is completely free. Even immunisation is given without stress. Baby takes first immunisation b4 leaving d hospital. It will be given on d bed. Lols. Unlike here dat u queue up for immunisation.

I sent u a mail. Let me respond to your question here so dat other can benefit as well. I was given a month tourist visa but your status will be changed when u give birth to your baby and fill in your application. The easiest and legal way to get their document is having a Brazilian baby irrespective of your immigration status.

I am a male of 27years with a First Class degree in chemical engineering. I completed my NYSC last year and am still jobless.

I've been able to save just around 1million naira and I need your advice on which country preferably Europe I can travel to and maybe settle down with hope of landing a good job considering my discipline.

Thanks in anticipation

Ensure you serve the child a filling dinner and replace midnight feeds with water.

If you replace with anything else you’d keep waking up for the next .......

Once the child sees that water is the only reward for getting up to “comfort eat” he/she will promptly adjust to sleeping through the night!
Thanks ma

I know how difficult it is to leave a year old baby behind and masters in the UK is not any easier. if you decide to come with the baby then you need someone to take care of him/her. as earlier mentioned, no tier 4 student is entitled to free childcare until the child is 3 so the option available is to enrol the baby in a nursery.

There are council child care centres which are less expensive, at least i got one where i was to pay £30/day and 18 for half day in scotland. if you ask around you might just get one this cheap and you may decided to enrol for 2-3days a week while you jugle other days.

You can also make friends in church if you are a christian and overtime see who can help you look after the child for sometimes while you in the uni.

I hope you find away around this.
Exactly. I might not be able to concentrate if she doesn't come along with me. Thanks so much. I'm actually doing some Google search for cheaper options.

I think it good you come first, settle and then look around to see if you find something affordable ...i have heard how some where the grandma is around anf charge 10 pound a day . You never know what you find
Thanks. I will probably do that
TravelRe: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Shallypop(f): 4:41pm On Feb 11, 2019
LagosismyHome:
Childcare is expensive and everything here is charged per hour.

For example for 1,000 a month that about 20 working days making it £50 per day and 8am to 6pm is another 10 hours so essentially £5 per hour. But every area different some charge much more. Mine was actually £64 per day so note some month have 23days working days but some months are 20 days .

If you need less hours and can find a child minder that might help .... if you dont have class every day too . But overwall until a child is 4, childcare cost is not cheap. As a student it very difficult except if the child was over 4years. Some people can find someone cheaper under the table to childmind. If you see that , might be cheaper
Thanks once again. I don't think I can afford bringing her along with such amount of bills. Considering the fact that I will be an international student. Hubby wouldn't stay cos he works here. Maybe just visiting.

Thanks.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Shallypop(f): 10:49am On Feb 11, 2019
LagosismyHome:
Your child does not qualify for anything until the child is 3 then you can get between 15 to 30 hours free. Some 2 year old get but not someone on a student visa..That a no no as that is classified as public funds . It is at 4 years that your child can start free education in a primary school on a student visa Dependant (9 to about 3pm)

For a one year old . It will be private nursery or childminder or nanny. Neither of these 3 are cheap and the cost depends on where you live. For nursery in london i paid about 1k per child per month for full time nursery (8am to 6pm)
Thanks 4 d detailed explanation. 1k is quite much.

If you qualify, your toddler might be entitled to free education.

The stress factor would be joggling toddler, school load, uk stress, cost of living, childcare needs + financial ability and capability.....
Thanks for the reply. Kindly tell me the qualification for free education? I'm just a prospective International student.
