this is why i said my2cents got it so right on page one

and still i have not heard how the two differ, or which is better and i am with you Naijafan here

Classical music and rap "music" caters to polar opposites of the spectrum. Classical music was written for kings and queens and emperors and czars as well as the elite public people. Rap caters to the people on the streets. Classical music so much better b/c  rap isn't able to express the wide range of emotions classical can.

Eurphoria:

Gbade still we can't see this so called classical music types and we have not seen the comparisons for those who claim to know the genre grin

What? Are you serious?

Is that what you think, that only yoruba tv food shows are intresting? believe me thats being shallow.

me-sharon:

I consider most food shows here in Nigeria boring, either the host doesn't really have the Tv charisma or they just prepare common meals. The one that might have been a little interesting is hosted in yoruba: so what do they want non -yorubas to do ? Get a private interpreter. grin
Do you think these shows can be spiced up a little?

I second that.

But trust me trends are changing, the whole concept of even agriculture as a means of living is changing in the North.

I live not too far away from the Superbowl site. My roommate, along w/ a some buddies and I went tailgating by stadium. Lots of Bear fans over there. We had to catch the morning service, to make way for the party b/c we'd normally attend night services. I'm pullin' for the Bears on this one 'cause of my boy Devin Hester, though I'm a Phin fan.

You hit the nail right on the head, E!

Just what i've been trying these wack cats in here, always quick to talk crapola about what they don't know. . . .

Just to let you know you double posted. . . .

Anyway, I'm being underestimated b/c of my age. But, I know a bunch, though studying isn't my thing. One of my role models, Ben Carson, inspired me. Hence, one of the few reasons I became more in torch w/ classical music. I know where all you guys are coming from, but you can get all butt-hurt. Unwad the undies for once.

gbade. x:

. . .and thus you've proved my point that apart from what Mainstream puts out, most of you don't know any better.
Bottomline is, there is more to Hiphop than what trash the mainstream spews out.

Like I said, I know exactly where you're coming from. That's why I tend to disagree w/ naijacutee on some parts. Just about anything played on mainsteam (MTV). Pop, pop punk, pop rap. Its all a bunch of no talent ass clowns. There are some very talented rap groups on the underground. Some break to mainstream and turn into pop unfortunately.

Sharetroll
simple question , you are the one starting thread about classical music making yourself sound like i don't know what. I asked do you know any more classical musicians apart from the ones people learn from GCSE music( Beethoven , Bach etc)? still you can't mention more classical acts, and you profess to be some sort of Connoiseur of classical works haha!
No maybe you thot that silly jibe about living at home will send me off, just answer the question. I don't know about classical, so please educate us mister Beethoven grin. you are talking here there and every where , my guess is you know jack , diddlysquat about this topic. Please Go google the subject and give us all copy and paste galore. wink

i still agree with my2cents and that is what got you mad, now get madder

don't ask me questions, you are the self professed expert on this , so we are waiting, go copy info and paste , do something anything grin

Where did I claim to be a Classical music connasieur? I've studied Classical arts in my last semester year in college, hence where I get my info's from. I started to fall in love more w/ the music, why I made this thread. I happen to listen to Classical music on my ipod every now and then. . . .I don't have to prove myself worthy to you by naming various composers. I figure it's a waste of time.

Now, would you like a side of bacon to go along with the egg on your face?

Music/Radio / Re: Classical Music Is Better Than Rap by sharetroll(m): 3:26am On Feb 04, 2007
Anyway, for people to think rap is more popular and classical music doesn't have quite the support and fan base only say that because of what they see before them.  The younger generation puts rap in the spotlight, but I guarantee that if you roll in behind the scenes circles that are a lot more upscale, sophistcated, etc.  you will definately see the reversal of which is more popular.

Trust me when I say the classical, posh, sophisticated, snooty crowd is waaaaay bigger around the globe than the rap crowd is.

It's like art.  The average person looks at a painting worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and may think it's a piece of junk.  They may think a graffiti tag is waaay more popular and could definately get better reviews.  But there's people out there with an eye and ear for finer, sophistcated things that would use a graffiti tag to wipe their a*s and pay millions for a picasso.

And you have to remember we're talking about people from their pre-teen years to senior citizens.  A much larger range than the average rap crowd.

naijacutee:

My problem with rap is : Where is the originality? Why does everyone have to talk about the same things - Niggers, Guns, Girls, Booties and Money. (Except for a maximum of 5 popular rappers who have occasionally fallen into the cycle themselves.) It's just so sickening - they all dress the same, talk the same, put the same things in their mouths, carry the same things in their back pockets. I mean, some of them are real good poets but this rap-thing just kills so much of their potential and they end up in prison over words someone has said or something even stupider.

And between, what is "killa dipset all day no homo"? Is that one of the things they teach people to say?(

Jazz paved the way for almost every new genre of music in the past 100 years, including rap. To be fair, I think we group all rappers together and we shouldn't.  There are actually quality rappers that exist.  I really like Kanye West.  He doesn't do what everyone wants him to do.  He has a message and a meaning to what he is writing.

grafikdon:

One man's music is another man's poison and try to get a credible definition of 'classical' music. Are you talking about the music of Beethoven, Bach and Schubert or some pop music?

I Listen to your music and let others listen to whatever they deem pleasant. I listen to music by instinct and that simply means I have no favourite genre be it rap, Reggae, rock, heavy metal, pop, afro beat, juju, funk, jazz, symphony, concerto, Sonata, whateva. If it moves me in ways beyond description, I am definitely going to embrace it, despite the language used. Funny some people who listen to heavy metal think rap is 'crap'. . . apparently they are not paying any attention to some of the demeaning lyrics of heavy metal. . . yeah, I listen to heavy metal so I know what I am talking about.

Live and let live. If you think rap is garbage, simply ignore it and move on. Don't try to fight rap because you WILL NOT win. On the other hand, if you think rock or heavy metal is 'satanic'. . . simply ignore it and move on, don't try to fight heavy metal because you CANNOT WIN. If you think the music of Ludwig Van Beethoven is for old bones, you ca keep that erroneous concept to yourself and move on.

I don tok my own o.

I think classical music is the greatest music out there. My personal fave. . . there's nobody on earth currently that can match up to Mozart or Beethoven or Chopin, etc. Music has indeed regressed since the romantic/baroque era, that is undeniable.

Listen to these songs with a free mind, one doesn't have to spit punchlines and metaphors to be ill. Various mcs have proven that fact.

Listen.

The thing is why would anyone want to 'bust a rhyme" for what purpose? When I see some one do it on the streets the first thing I think is : "WHAT A DUMB ASS"
