Sports / Shaq Or Olajuwon? by sharetroll(m): 12:55am On Mar 08, 2007
I'm taking Dream (Olajuwon) on this one. Skill wise. . .Dream was the most complete big man offensively and defensively to ever play, and its his defense that separates him. The only player in NBA history with over 3500 blocks ( Shaq has 2300) and 2000 steals (Shaq has I think 693), that is just unbelievable. Players are usually always defined by their offensive stats and gifts (except for Russell) but Defense is usually always left out. That is the difference when comparing the best all-around skilled Big man.

Dream could do it all.

Shaq has more rings and more finals appearances because he's been on better teams, with better coaches and better teammates. That's why Hakeem's accomplishments are even better considering what he had to work with.

True Shaq has a higher FG percentage, but consider 99% of his shots are dunks or layups. Hakeem's shots were from all over the floor, just under the 3point line. His FG% should be compared to that of guards and small forwards, and for him to be averaging above 50%, AMAZING!

Shaq's defense was average, I'm not taking that away from him but it is not in the same category as Hakeem's D. Again, you can make the comparison on offense but on defense there is no comparison.

First off, God is not a scientific equation or merely a source of energy. . . .

He is a spiritual being that man can not begin to understand or define in technical terminology.

Remember, humans are blessed w/ the ability to think, as God intended & designed.

And you know what the funny part about it is, BJ University isn't even accredited. Basically, there is no one that monitors their academic standards to make sure that the degrees they grant actually mean something. You're not going to get a solid education in many fields at BJU. No one reviews their programs to make sure they're up to any sort of standards.  Their biology department teaches creation science. Where is an education in that sort of biology "science" going to get you in the real world?

Which is better? A hard life with freewill plus eternal punishment for misusing the freewill or a blissful life without freewill?
If God had stopped Eve from eating the fruit, then there will be no sin, suffering and evil in the world.

Thanks for your attempt, but I'm sorry, you didn't answer the question.

P. S. On this issue of freewill, nferyn made a post (Falsification on logical grounds) concerning that, and that's also how I see it.

Clarification seriously needed.

So which is better to you? To remain ignorant for eternity or be punished for choosing wrong w/ your free will?
Religion / Re: If The Bones Of Jesus Were Found by sharetroll(m): 6:17pm On Mar 06, 2007
The goal of the unrighteous is to justify and rationalize for the purpose of giving their conscience rest and at this, they have become masters of the fine art. . . .

The reality is, however, that they can never prove what they hope to prove no matter how many clever arguments they devise and their only reward for their rebellion and disobedience to the will of God is a life without real purpose, moral accountability, hope and meaning, save that which they pretend and create with their imagination. . . .

If mankind is nothing but an animal, as they believe, why does anything matter beyond basic bodily instincts and survival?. . . .Yet for most, they, like sheep, obey the law of the land out of fear of punishment & all the while continue to bite and snip at the hand that feeds them,
Religion / Re: I Do Not Believe in God by sharetroll(m): 5:00pm On Mar 06, 2007
Depravity is the state of moral corruption or degradation. By God's standards, this is exactly what atheism/liberalism represent. Having made that clarification, I make it a point never to accuse anyone personally of this since I do not know any of you on that level. I can only evaluate a person's conscience based on what is written and said. . . . .

We are a modern society in moral conflict with powerful forces trying to dictate how we will define ourselves for the future. . . .In the past, liberalism and atheism were merely terms used to define a certain radical fringe. However, today they represent a growing seed of moral cancer that has gained an increasingly more influential foothold in a government and legal system to the degree that they can no longer be ignored and are dangerously threatening our traditional values, redefining our Christian heritage and ripping apart our moral fabric. . . . .

We are at a critical crossroads in our history as a nation & every decision and election has greater significance then it has ever had. This is why God has called people like me and many others to speak on His behalf. If we are to continue to survive and prosper, humans w/ a moral and righteous conscience had better listen. . . . .

goodguy:

This is a very serious issue, as I have always asked this same question since childhood, but never got any answers.

This very issue makes me somewhat skeptical about the attributes we humans have always attributed to God, that is, Omnipresence, Omniscience, Omnipotence, and Omnibenevolence.

Actually, this is the way I see it:

Since God is Omnipresent, He must have been present at that very spot where Adam and Eve ate the fruit. So why didn't He stop them? (Afterall, He's omnipotent).

And since God knew that Adam and Eve would eat the fruit (He's Omniscient), why did He plant the tree there in the first place, if He did not want them to eat out of it?

And let's assume now that He was truly present there, He knew they would eat the fruit, and He had the power to stop them, why did He allow them to go ahead? - Did I hear someone say freewill?

Good. If truly they ate the fruit out of their "freewill", God had every power to have stopped them, and that would have saved the world from all manners of evil we see today, since it is believed that it was through this act of Adam and Eve that sin entered the world.

But since He did not stop them, does that mean He purposely left them, even though He was present there, knew beforehand that they would eat the forbidden fruit, and also had the power to stop them? If that is the case, why then punish and curse them for what He allowed to happen? (Looking at it from a rational point of view, He actually allowed it). Why on earth will an Omnibenevolent God punish anyone and send them to hellfire for doing something bad, supposedly done out of the "freewill" He gave them (which they didn't even ask for), knowing fully well that they will misuse it eventually?

Is anyone following me at all? Yes, I know and agree that I am confused in this case, and I don't need anyone to iterate that to me here.

I hope someone will provide credible answers.

Shalom.

If God had stopped Eve from eating the fruit, than mankind would not have had a free will. . . .

Despite the fact that man has fallen to temptation and sin, there have been many believers who have served God faithfully and have earned His trust and respect. America, as a nation, is blessed b/c of the faithfullness and dedication of Christians who refused to give in to temptation, but rather lived according to the will of God and created a land that He could bless and prosper. . . . .

God created us for the purpose of serving him and being obedient for our own good. Just b/c many have turned away from Him and brought great suffering and pain to large numbers of people, doesn't mean that there are no righteous souls who also bring prosperity and happiness because of their positive and Godly behavior, It works both ways, and this is as God knew it would be. . . .

You know, it's funny how non-Christians try to hide the truth about our Christian heritage and instead attempt to re-write history to suit it's agenda and justify it's prejudice and bigotry against the Bible and it's faithful
followers. . . .
The church has not adopted pagan holidays, rather it has turned them into celebrations of the Christian faith. I liken it to taking lemons and making them into lemonaide, although I don't totally subscribe to the commercialization of such events. . . .

Finding tomb that says the name Jesus 2000 years ago would be as common as going to grave yard now and finding the name Fred. It's a stunt to get people to watch. How can there be a tomb with his body if he rose and left no body.

You either have faith or you don't. If you don't it's your own decession, if you do, then you know its propaganda. Just a means to make money on weak minded individuals.

The discovery of this tomb was made (and debunked) almost 30 years ago. This isn't news. Its just that James Cameron is making a documentary about it. . . .

Sports / Re: American Football Is Better Than Soccer! by sharetroll(m): 8:06pm On Mar 05, 2007
For those who aren't quite clear on why I hate the sport.

Soccer participants act like they've been shot - what whimps. Perhaps the number one reason why I can't stand the sport. Meanwhile, real athletes like Donovan McNabb or Bobby Baun play on broken legs. I even get goosebumps when I see my favorite player (Dwyane Wade) flopping on occasions.

Soccer is boring. Soccer is absurdly slow. I've had soccer apologists say with false pride how the average soccer participant "runs" 4 miles in a game. Newsflash: that means they are jogging less than 3 miles per hour. Translation: they are mostly standing around. BORING.

Soccer is too simple an activity.

Penalty kicks. You are determining a winner by a random event that has no relevance to the rest of the game. It would be as stupid as replacing extra innings with batting practice.

Psychotic fans. BIG ONE I addressed this one in many of my posts. The South Korean loser who set himself on fire is one example. The mental stability of the murderer who killed that one player because he sucked (free clue: all soccer participants suck) is another.

Ties: 55% of games are ties. Ties suck.

Soccer hilites concentrate on what almost happens. When ESPN has the poor sense to show soccer hilites, they show missed shots, missed passes, etc. Any real sport shows things that actually contribute to the result. Soccer participants do not care about the result.

Soccer fans justify the activity based entirely on its popularity. Not only are the reasons why soccer is popular an argument against soccer, but it really shows how pathetic said activity is when that is the only argument soccer fans come up with.

Soccer is not objective. There is no play clock. The game doesn't end after the clock has run down. This adds bias, subjectivism and appeals to lower intellects, and it destroys the drama from last second victories. Contrast such clumsy timekeeping (shame on the Swiss, who should know better) and the lack of any discernable strategy with the strategic precision of the two-minute drill in football.

Soccer is not objective, part two. The lack of offensive chances leads to ties, which, as we know, suck. Soccer's "solution?" Let's randomize the result (in those cases where a tie suddenly becomes an affront, the "World" Cup) by having penalty kicks.

Soccer participants on the same team have different jerseys. The obviously higher intelligence of hockey (goaltender) or football (offensive linemen) fans and referees is evident, since we don't need a different uniform to indicate a different privilege in the rule book.

Soccer is Third World inexpensive. Ordinarily, this would not be a problem. Most people don't consider buying hockey or football equipment expensive in civilized countries, but in the context of the rest of the world, it is expensive. On the other hand, soccer is dirt cheap - and by dirt cheap, I mean slum kids in Brazil rolling up balls of dirt to kick around.

Soccer apologists steal terms from real sports. Hint: a pitch is something an option QB does. A draw is a running play designed to counter a strong pass rush. Football is a real sport that involves athletes in pads and helmets, not sissies playing kickball.

Soccer has no honor. There are codes of behavior in sports like hockey, baseball, football and basketball. There is no code of behavior in the activity of soccer: the peni5 biting should make this fairly obvious.

Soccer idiots overexaggerate everything. Yeah, soccer deserves a Nobel Prize. Better load up on the security for that award presentation, because soccer deserves it less than terrorists like Arafat. Yeah, a soccer game is a wondrous event in your nation's history. Granted, these nations still have to master indoor plumbing, but please - stop the hallucinogenics, now.

Soccer cheering has no point. Football fans successfully cause opposing teams' offenses to call timeouts, use up the play clock, screw up audibles or cause procedure penalties. Ask Burt Hooton whether baseball fans affect an opponent's performance. Soccer? They sing songs - which all sound the same - regardless of outcome. It doesn't
celebrate performance. It doesn't serve to intimidate. It has no purpose.

Soccer counts time up. Soccer games count the time that has elapsed, rather than the time remaining. This is stupid for a number of reasons. First, soccer games don't refer to time anyway, so why even keep it? Second, why the concern on the past? The score already reflects all important information of what has already happened in the game. In soccer, this is most likely irrelevant anyway, since the score is most likely 0-0, er, nil, nil. The focus should be on the result - which depends on the future. Thus, time should count down. Can you imagine NASA counting up (from, say, when JFK made his speech about landing on the moon in a decade)? How stupid would that be?

I'd also like to add that the game can be played be elephants. Yes elephants folks. An animal with intelligence much lower than that of a human, can kick around a ball into soccer nets. Amazing sport!

The Soccer homers can bury me now.

Nice cop out. Are you a bit upset that I exposed your contradictions?

You mean twisting my words, to suit your bait.

kobesosimi:

I won't even be bothered to repost what you posted, read through your posts again, and find your faults.

Again, faults or facts? I go by facts, but I watch the games as well. I know Wade isn't a good on-ball defender b/c I watch the games. But, you're making stats look almost useless. You need stats when determining certain factors, not your typical PPG, RPG, APG or SPG. Some stats may not tell the whole story, but don't make all stats seem almost useless.

Yes, Wade's defense is pathetic, and it is not comical. You know what's comical, your claims that the lakers are a better defensive team without Kobe while citing statistical formulas provided to you by the same professionals that you rebuked in earlier posts.

. . .And you rip me for not watching the games. . .

kobesosimi:

Lol, hear ye. I bet you judge defense by how many steals a player gets do you not?

Considering that Wade averages more steals than Kobe, then yes: I do think he is a better help/team defender than Kobe. It must hurt you to see the facts revealed before your eyes about the Lakers being a better defensive team w/o Kobe.

Here's a good site for you:

Politics / Re: Feminism: What Is Your View About It? by sharetroll(m): 11:42pm On Mar 03, 2007
There are some valid points made, but when it comes down to it, It's human nature. It's a universal concept that spans across many situations. We have opinions about how people should be that are based on gender.  We treat children according to these standards, and they learn what is 'acceptable' for each gender.  I'm not saying what is right or wrong.  I just know that this is human nature. So, women are not to blame. It starts way before a child starts school.  And, no, I'm not quoting sociology this time. It's just one thing I've learned from many psych classes in college.

I believe that men and women will never be the same b/c they weren't meant to be that way.  If they were, then they wouldn't be able to survive.  Feminists use the word equal, but the reality is that both men and women have the same rights. The fact is that we are just different. . .biologically and b/c of environment.  Men are better at certain things, and women others.  We wouldn't be here without both. . .as long as we all have the same rights and opportunities. . .that's what matters to me.

Price money for wimbledon is now equal for men and women even though men play best of 5 and women play a best of 3. Feminists like Amelie Mauresmo are now happy.
There are no laws that say women must earn less than men for "doing the same job" (depends on who is looking at it), if this exists please speak to the relevant authorities.

New studies show that women get advantages in so many places. if anything, women get more rights.

But im not complaining. . .

Thats just how it works. Women get advantages in jobs where you work on the counter.

Feminism is not needed anymore, it was, but not anymore.
