THE MAN EDISON: Generosity in Spirit. Empowerment in Action. Some are born leaders, while others learn the craft. The case of Rt. Hon. Barr. Ehie Edison , PhD, DSSRS, Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government House, is a rare one; he is quite simply "gifted with leadership and raised the bar for representation when he was in the Rivers State house of assembly as lawmaker, representing Ahoada East Constituency II and now Chief Of Staff to the Rivers State Governor. His leadership style, accomplishments, and milestones will be difficult to surpass in the near future. Though he rose from humble beginnings to the limelight, he remains remarkably accessible, a rare characteristics of a typical Nigerian politician. A Legacy of Generosity It is well-known across Rivers State and Nigeria that the Ozochi born politician's kindness and magnanimity extend far beyond his constituency, tribe and immediate circle. As a detribalized leader, Edison views everyone as equal, guided by his belief that "Power comes from God; we are only pencils in the hands of the Creator". To him, if you are privileged enough to help others, you should do so with joy—a rare principle among politicians who often subscribe to a "winner-takes-all" mentality. Silent Human Capacity Development For this gentleman, human capacity development is a watchword. Beyond the customary gifts of cars, monies and houses to supporters, he embarked on a new round of "silent" empowerment in 2025 and continues till date. Edison is a man of action rather than noise. He prioritizes setting up his supporters in sustainable businesses, often advising: "Politics will come and go, but your business is your business." By providing the capital for chosen ventures and facilitating job links, he ensures long-term self-reliance for his people. Currently, this empowerment drive is reaching new heights. Approximately 50 supporters have been empowered with ten million naira each, while others have received between twenty and thirty million naira to scale their endeavours. Other categories of beneficiaries continue to receive support from Edison who is fondly called King of Boys. Edison's evel of investment is unprecedented in the history of Ahoada East. The Heart to Give Ultimately it is not just about the wealth, but the heart. Many possess resources, but few possess the spirit to share them. During a recent event in Rivers State, the former Governor, His Excellency Sir Dr. Peter Odili, stressed the importance of replication. He urged that when leaders give, the beneficiaries must ensure the support "trickles down" to their own circles. According to Dr. Peter Odili, by avoiding greed, we strengthen the hope and resolve of the people to follow a visionary leader. As the "King of Boys" continues his heavy empowerment and human capacity development in the coming days, I congratulate all beneficiaries; I ask only that you keep Rt. Hon. Edison Ogerenye Ehie in your prayers. Fear not! Eric-Okpara Agwenitani Primus Writing from Okoma II Community Ahoada East Local Government Area, Constituency II.

THE RIVER OF NIGERIA: A Tapestry of Trials, Triumphs, and Transcendence By Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson (PhD) Nigeria is like the mighty River Niger—its waters a swirling mixture of history, culture, hardship, and hope. Like all great rivers, it has endured floods of despair, droughts of disillusionment, and moments of breathtaking renewal. Its journey is not smooth; it is a relentless quest through stormy waters and tranquil pools, driven by a spirit that refuses to be subdued. Imagine Nigeria as a river flowing through diverse terrains—sometimes rushing fiercely over rocks of corruption and political chaos, sometimes meandering peacefully through lush valleys of cultural renaissance and innovation. Today, the river faces new currents: economic turbulence, rising youth unrest, and the unpredictable influence of global forces. Yet, it continues to surge forward, propelled by an unwavering resilience rooted deep in its people’s collective consciousness. Let me take you through some scenarios—moments that shape Nigeria’s ongoing voyage—each one a testament to its capacity to endure and reinvent itself. The Economic Tempest: A Storm on the Horizon Nigeria’s economy is like a boat caught in a violent storm. The sky is dark with clouds of hardship: inflation spirals out of control, prices of basic commodities soar beyond the reach of many, and the naira continues its free fall, eroding the purchasing power of ordinary Nigerians. Unemployment is soaring, especially among the youth—those who are eager to work but find few opportunities to sustain themselves or their families. This economic hardship is felt acutely across every corner of the nation. Markets are emptying, factories are shutting down, and the hope of a better future seems distant. Many Nigerians now face the stark reality of choosing between feeding their families or paying rent. The social fabric strains under the weight of despair, and frustration boils over into protests, violence, and a sense of helplessness. In these turbulent waters, the role of the writer and thinker becomes critical. They are the navigators—using the compass of truth and the map of history to chart a course through the chaos. During such storms, stories emerge of resilience—of small entrepreneurs turning adversity into opportunity, of communities banding together to create local solutions, and of the youth leveraging technology to build startups and platforms that bypass traditional economic barriers. This scenario reminds us that Nigeria’s true strength lies not only in its natural resources but in its people's ingenuity—the ability to adapt, innovate, and survive even when the sky darkens with despair. Every crisis reveals the depth of the nation’s resourcefulness, and every hardship offers a seed for renewal. Political Insensitivity: A Storm of Its Own Adding fuel to the raging storm is the pervasive sense of political insensitivity that often characterizes Nigeria’s leadership. Too many leaders have demonstrated a disconnect from the lived realities of ordinary Nigerians—more concerned with maintaining power than addressing urgent issues. This neglect manifests in empty promises, nepotism, and a focus on short-term gains rather than sustainable development. In moments of crisis, this insensitivity becomes painfully evident. During economic downturns, instead of crafting policies to cushion the blow, many leaders resort to rhetoric, blame-shifting, or outright apathy. When youths protest against unemployment and insecurity, they are met with repression or dismissive rhetoric that dismisses their grievances as mere noise. This attitude deepens the disconnect, fueling anger and frustration. It’s like a river running against a dam—eventually, the pressure will find a way to break through. The Nigerian people have shown resilience, but they also demand empathy and genuine leadership. A government that listens, that understands the pulse of its people, can turn these turbulent currents into a force for positive change. The Coming Elections: The Tides of Change In the midst of these storms, Nigeria’s political horizon is marked by the approaching elections—an event that could either calm the waters or unleash a new tempest. These elections are more than just a ritual; they are a decisive moment for the nation’s future, a chance to steer the river toward calmer shores or to allow it to be swept further into chaos. The electoral landscape is fraught with complexities—candidates with promises of reform, old political machines clinging to power, and a populace eager for change. Yet, there is an undercurrent of skepticism—many Nigerians have grown weary of empty promises, of leaders who speak of progress but deliver little. The elections are a referendum on Nigeria’s capacity for self-renewal. As the nation prepares to cast its vote, the questions loom large: Will the leaders truly understand the weight of the moment? Can they address the economic hardship that grips millions? Will they show political sensitivity—listening to the cries of the youth, the unemployed, the marginalized? Or will they continue to play the same old game, risking further disillusionment? The youth, the activists, the everyday Nigerians—these are the currents that will determine the outcome. Their voices, their hopes, and their fears can either propel Nigeria into a new chapter or plunge it into deeper uncertainty. The elections are a crucible—testing whether Nigeria’s leadership will rise to the occasion or fall prey to the same old patterns. The Power of the Pen and the Spirit of Resilience Throughout Nigeria’s turbulent history, the pen has been a mighty oar—guiding ships through storms, sounding alarms during crises, and charting paths toward hope. From courageous journalism during military rule to the inspiring stories of ordinary Nigerians defying odds, the written word remains a powerful tool. But words alone are not enough. It is action, collective resolve, and unwavering belief that will ultimately steer Nigeria through these complex currents. The resilience of its people—like the bamboo that bends but does not break—will determine whether Nigeria drifts aimlessly or forges a new course. The Dawn Beyond the Storm Nigeria’s story is still being written. The storms are fierce, the waves high, but the dawn always follows the night. The rising sun of Nigeria’s potential is obscured temporarily by clouds of doubt and hardship, yet it remains inevitable. The future belongs to those who refuse to be passive spectators—writers, activists, entrepreneurs, and citizens who dare to dream beyond the immediate storm. Like the river that carves its way through mountains and valleys, Nigeria’s strength lies in its ability to persist, adapt, and transcend. As we stand on the banks of this great river, watching its waters flow—sometimes turbulent, sometimes calm—we must remember that the journey is ongoing. The currents of change are unstoppable when fueled by hope, courage, and collective action. Sincerely, Yours in Relentless Voyage of Truth and Progress (RVTP) Gabex Pidex

A Biblical Response to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Introduction Pastor Christ Oyakhilome, a prominent preacher, recently asserted that being poor is not good and suggested that poverty is closely associated with wickedness. He cited the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, who was poor, and probably the only poor the only man in heaven cited in the Bible. Additionally, he claimed that all God's friends are wealthy and that poverty is undesirable, possibly even sinful. While his intention may be to encourage believers toward prosperity, his interpretation appears to conflate material wealth with divine favor and righteousness, and poverty with wickedness. This perspective overlooks the nuanced biblical teaching that righteousness and salvation are not dependent on wealth or poverty. It is crucial to examine Scripture and the lives of saints to understand that both poverty and wealth can be compatible with a faithful life, and neither condition alone determines one’s salvation. Furthermore, pastors and church leaders have a sacred responsibility to teach the truth of God's Word accurately. Misleading followers—especially on such vital issues—can lead believers astray and undermine biblical integrity. Counter-Argument 1. Poverty Is Not a Sinful or Wicked Condition The Bible demonstrates that poverty itself is not a sign of wickedness. Many faithful individuals lived in poverty yet maintained a strong relationship with God and are honored in Scripture. The Poor in Scripture Who Lived Righteously: Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31): Despite being poor, Lazarus was justified through faith and was in heaven, illustrating that poverty does not exclude one from God's blessing. Anna the Prophetess (Luke 2:36-38): A widow who was poor, yet she was devout and recognized as a faithful servant of God. She likely resides in the heavenly kingdom. The Early Christians (Acts 4:34-37): Many believers sold possessions to support the church and the needy, exemplifying faithfulness despite material poverty. Historical examples of faithful, impoverished saints: St. Francis of Assisi: Embraced poverty and lived a humble life dedicated to serving God and others, and is honored as a saint. Mother Teresa: Lived in poverty, caring for the destitute, and is widely venerated for her righteousness and service. 2. Wealth and Righteousness Are Not Inherently Connected The Bible cautions against equating wealth with divine approval: 1 Timothy 6:9-10: "But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils." Matthew 19:24: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God." Wealth can be a hindrance if it leads to greed or reliance on material possessions. The Parable of the Rich Young Ruler (Mark 10:17-22): Demonstrates that wealth can be an obstacle to salvation, but salvation is possible through faith and obedience. 3. The Parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man Pastor Oyakhilome referenced this parable to suggest that Lazarus, despite being poor, was in heaven yet he was viewed with disdain by even the rich man that was in hell. However, the story emphasizes the importance of faith, compassion, and justice not wealth or poverty: Lazarus was poor, but his faith and trust in God were evident. The rich man’s sin was neglecting justice and compassion (sin of omission), not his wealth. The parable illustrates eternal consequences of how we treat others, not the virtue in poverty or opulence of wealth. 4. Wealth Used Righteously Can Lead to Salvation Many biblical figures were wealthy and used their resources for God's glory: Abraham (Genesis 13:2): A wealthy man who trusted God. King David and King Solomon: Used their wealth to build the temple and promote worship. The Widow of Zarephath (1 Kings 17:7-16): Despite her poverty, her faith led to a miraculous provision and honored her faithfulness, and merited mention by Jesus Christ (Luke 4:25-26. 5. Righteous Individuals Among the Saints and Historical Figures Saints and Faithful in Scripture and History: Joseph of Arimathea: A wealthy man who provided his tomb for Jesus (Mark 15:43). He was a disciple and likely in heaven. King David: A man after God's own heart (Acts 13:22), who was both wealthy and righteous. Martin Luther and John Wesley: Prominent reformers who valued contentment and righteousness over material possessions. Modern faithful who lived in poverty or wealth: Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Lived modestly and was martyred for his faith. Billy Graham: Lived simply and preached salvation by faith. The Responsibilities of Pastors and Church Leaders It is crucial to emphasize that pastors and church leaders hold a sacred responsibility to teach God's Word faithfully. Misusing their offices to promote unbiblical ideas—such as equating wealth with divine favor or suggesting that poverty is wicked—can mislead followers and distort God's truth. Such acts are condemned in Scripture: James 3:1: "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness." Leaders must be diligent to teach accurately. 2 Timothy 4:2: "Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching." Leaders are called to teach the truth, not to manipulate or mislead. Ezekiel 34:2-3: "Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel... You eat the fat, you clothed yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat ones, but you do not feed the sheep." Leaders who mislead God's people are accountable before God. Misleading believers by promoting teachings that equate wealth with righteousness or poverty with wickedness not only harms individuals but also dishonors God’s Word and His calling for leaders to shepherd the flock faithfully. Conclusion The biblical and historical record teaches clearly that righteousness and salvation are not dictated by material possessions. Both the poor and the wealthy can be faithful followers of Christ, living righteous lives and attaining heaven through faith. Poverty is not inherently wicked, nor is wealth inherently virtuous; what matters is the condition of the heart, obedience to God's Word, and love for others. Moreover, pastors and church leaders must uphold truth and integrity in their teachings. Misusing their offices to promote unbiblical ideas—such as equating wealth with divine favor or poverty with wickedness—can lead believers astray and undermine the spiritual health of the church. They are accountable to God for the spiritual guidance they provide and must serve as faithful stewards of His truth. A Theological Response to Pastor David Ibiyeomie’s Claims Regarding Poverty and Jesus Introduction to the Misrepresentation Recently, Pastor David Ibiyeomie made statements suggesting that Jesus never visited any poor individuals and that this implies a divine disdain for poverty. This interpretation not only misrepresents the character of Jesus but also distorts the essence of His mission on Earth. It is vital to explore Scripture to clarify the truth about Jesus’ relationship with the poor and to address the theological pitfalls of prosperity gospel teachings. 1. Jesus’ Mission and the Poor Jesus’ ministry was profoundly oriented toward the marginalized and the downtrodden. In Luke 4:18-19, Jesus articulates His purpose: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.” This declaration emphasizes His divine calling to bring hope and salvation specifically to those in need. Throughout the Gospel narratives, we see Jesus consistently reaching out to the outcast, the sick, and the needy, demonstrating a clear prioritization of the poor in His ministry. 2. Understanding Jesus’ Birth and Life The humble circumstances of Jesus’ birth are profoundly telling. Born in a stable and laid in a manger (Luke 2:7), His entrance into the world was marked by poverty. Moreover, His adult life exemplified detachment from material wealth, as He stated in Matthew 8:20, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” This lifestyle of simplicity and humility reflects Jesus’ identification with the poor, challenging any notion that He harbors disdain for them. 3. Misinterpretation of Key Biblical Figures Pastor Ibiyeomie references Lazarus and Zacchaeus to support his claims about Jesus’ relationship with the wealthy. However, these examples do not align with his assertions. Lazarus of Bethany, often depicted as a close friend of Jesus, lived in a village known for its humble inhabitants. The name “Bethany” derives from “Beth Anya,” meaning “House of the Poor.” This context suggests that Lazarus was not wealthy; rather, he represented those who were loved and cared for by Jesus. Zacchaeus, a wealthy tax collector, is another figure often misinterpreted. Jesus’ visit to Zacchaeus’ home (Luke 19:1-10) was not an endorsement of his wealth but a transformative encounter that led Zacchaeus to repentance. After meeting Jesus, Zacchaeus pledged to give half of his possessions to the poor and repay four times what he had extorted. This radical change indicates that true wealth lies not in material possessions but in the moral and spiritual richness that comes from a relationship with Christ. 4. The Dangers of Prosperity Theology The prosperity gospel posits that faith leads to wealth and physical well-being, a notion that starkly contrasts with the teachings of Jesus. In Matthew 6:19-21, Jesus warns against storing treasures on Earth, emphasizing that true treasure is found in heaven. This teaching challenges the idea that financial success equates to divine favor. The focus of the Christian life is not on accumulating wealth but on living in accordance with God’s will and serving others, particularly the poor. 5. The Reality of Suffering in the Christian Life The New Testament frequently portrays the life of a believer as one marked by trials and tribulations. The Apostle Paul, for instance, faced numerous hardships for the sake of the Gospel. In 2 Corinthians 11:24-30, he outlines the suffering he endured, illustrating that a faithful Christian life often involves sacrifice rather than material prosperity. This reality calls into question the assertion that Jesus died to ensure wealth for His followers. 6. The True Nature of Discipleship Jesus’ call to discipleship involves self-denial and the willingness to embrace suffering. In Luke 9:23, He states, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” This call emphasizes that following Christ may lead to hardship and sacrifice, rather than guaranteed material success. The teachings of the prosperity gospel undermine this essential aspect of discipleship, promoting a misunderstanding of the Christian faith. 7. The Temptation of Materialism The temptation to seek after material wealth is a recurring theme in Scripture. In Matthew 4:9, the devil offers Jesus all the kingdoms of the world in exchange for worship. Jesus’ rejection of this offer highlights a critical truth: the pursuit of wealth can lead one away from true worship of God. Prosperity teachings often echo this temptation, encouraging believers to seek blessings in the form of worldly riches rather than cultivating a deeper relationship with God. 8. God’s True Promises The promises of God in Scripture focus on spiritual wealth and the hope of eternal life. In 2 Corinthians 8:9, Paul writes, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.” This richness is not about material wealth but about spiritual abundance—an invitation to a relationship with God that transcends earthly circumstances. 9. Insights from Canonized Saints Saint Francis of Assisi: Known for his radical embrace of poverty, Saint Francis renounced wealth and material possessions to follow Christ more fully. His life exemplifies the call to live simply and serve the poor, reflecting Jesus’ teachings more accurately than the prosperity gospel. He famously said, “It is in giving that we receive,” emphasizing that true richness comes from self-giving rather than accumulation. Saint John Chrysostom: This early Church Father spoke vehemently against the love of wealth. He stated, “The rich man is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.” Chrysostom’s teachings emphasize the importance of generosity and the dangers of attachment to material wealth, aligning with the biblical call to care for the needy and live a life of humility. Saint Therese of Lisieux: Known for her “Little Way,” Saint Therese emphasized simplicity, love, and trust in God rather than seeking material success. Her teachings remind us that holiness is found in small acts of love and humility rather than in external achievements or wealth. 10. Theological Reflections on Prosperity Gospel Misunderstanding of God’s Nature: The prosperity gospel often reduces God to a mere means to an end—essentially a genie who grants wishes based on faith. This view neglects the complexity of God’s character as revealed in Scripture, where He is portrayed as loving and just, concerned with the hearts and souls of His people rather than their bank accounts. The Cross as Central: The Christian faith is centered on the cross, a symbol of suffering and sacrifice. Jesus’ call to discipleship involves taking up one's cross (Matthew 16:24), emphasizing that suffering can lead to spiritual growth and deeper communion with God. The prosperity gospel’s focus on wealth diminishes the significance of the cross and the reality of Christian suffering. Eternal Perspective: The New Testament consistently points believers toward an eternal perspective. In 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, Paul writes, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” This focus on eternal rewards shifts the believer’s mindset away from earthly gain and toward spiritual fulfillment in Christ. Conclusion To claim that Jesus “hates poverty” is to fundamentally misinterpret His mission and the essence of the Gospel. Jesus did not come to eradicate earthly poverty; instead, He brought hope, salvation, and eternal life to all, regardless of their material status. The authentic message of Christ emphasizes love, compassion, and a call to serve others, particularly the poor and marginalized. In light of these truths, it is essential for Christians to critically evaluate teachings that promote a prosperity gospel. Such teachings not only misrepresent the character of Christ but also distract from the core message of the Gospel. We must remain steadfast in sharing the true message of Jesus, embodying His love and compassion in our lives, and standing against the distortions of the faith that seek to commodify the Gospel. Let us commit to being agents of true transformation, reflecting the heart of Christ in a world that desperately needs His hope and healing. Sir Gabriel Pidomson B. OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY EZENWO NYESOM WIKE - PIDOMSON GABRIEL Ph.D WIKE: DESTROYING RIVERS STATE AND THE PDP Your Excellency, Sir Ordinarily, I would not be writing an open letter to you, but like a wise man once said, “Silence would be Treason.” So I prefer to stay alive than face the consequences of silence in the face of crime. With each passing day, and as the sociopolitical tides continue to turn, it has become more pertinent that more people speak up in a concerted MANNER to prevent the death of our party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as we appear to be, in the words of W. B. Yeats, “turning and turning in the widening gyre” heading for an end where the falcon will no longer hear the falconer It is unfortunate that since losing control of the Federal Government, with the loss of President Goodluck Jonathan at the poll in 2015, our party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has continued on a downward spiral. It is much more painful, that where it is expected that leaders within the party should rise to the challenge and put an end to this decline of our great party, some have instead taken up roles as its undertaker. It will be hypocritical to claim aloofness to what I believe is your grouse with the PDP and I am not a hypocrite. It will be uncharitable on my part to discountenance the role you have played in strengthening the PDP from 2015 up until the last Presidential primaries of the party. It is my belief that your grouse against certain members of the party who you perceived worked against the party and abandoned it in 2015 and then came around much later to take control of the party, is justified. Also know that your decision to remain in the Party and stifle its progress on the other hand, as a sort of payback, stands condemned. For a man of your pedigree and stature, it is a dishonorable act, highly dishonorable and stands as testimony against all you claim to stand for. At least, it can be argued that those who you hold this grudge against, abandoned the party completely and did not sit back while actively working to destroy it from within. But what then can be the argument on your own part, seeing that those you are currently working with against your party are the same people who set in motion, and executed surgically, the plans that not only ended our Party’s leadership at the center, but ended up dislodging the first Niger Deltan to occupy Aso Rock as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. Is this not akin to “cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face?” That will be worse than folly. Let us not throw away the baby with the bath water because we do not like the soap used in bathing the baby. It will be a grave mistake. Honourable Minister, sir, it is rather unfortunate that of all people, you have also decided to play the role of an undertaker not only for our party, but for our dear Rivers State. I will like to take you down memory lane a little. Let me remind you of your emergence as Guber candidate of the PDP in Rivers State, against all fairness and justice in 2014. You will remember that despite the reality being that you as an Ikwerre man was poised to replace a fellow Ikwerre man in Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in our multiethnic state, Rivers people overwhelmingly stood by you and pushed for your emergence as Executive Governor of Rivers State in 2015. I dare say that your popularity in the entire Niger Delta region was at an all-time high at this point. I want you to understand why you were loved across board leading to your eventual emergence as Governor of Rivers State in 2015; it was because when it looked like all were against the second term ambitions of the first Niger Delta man to emerge as President of Nigeria, you became not just a pillar but a beacon of resistance by standing for Goodluck Jonathan. Rivers people, as grateful and rewarding as they can be, paid you back by ensuring your electoral victory against the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) led by your predecessor. On your emergence, where there were second term Governors in the region, you, a first term Governor, ere seen by the people as not just the leader of the PDP, but the leader of the entire Niger Delta region. You earned it, and no one could dispute it. In 2019, when your re-election bid was being challenged ferociously, Rivers people once again stood solidly behind you. Many were killed in the process of defending your votes. Do you remember Dr. Ferry Gberegbe that was shot and killed while trying to protect your votes in Khana Local Government Area? There are many more unnamed and unrecognized sons and daughters of Rivers State who sacrificed their lives so that you could emerge as a second term Governor of Rivers State. In 2022/23, Honourable Minister, you oversaw a party primary across board that saw some candidates imprisoned and internal party democracy jettisoned for your wishes, leading to the emergence of flag bearers of our party all singlehandedly picked by you. You have on more than one occasion publicly stated that you paid for all their forms. Even those shortchanged in this process licked their wounds and continued to play their roles as party members to ensure the success of the party at all levels. In what will go down as one of the most keenly contested elections in recent Rivers history, with formidable candidates like Senator Magnus Abe of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the vibrant youth driven Labour Party (LP), PDP emerged victorious across board except for Phalga Constituency 1 that was lost to the Labour Party.((( Not that you did not loose in some other LGA’s but let’s stick to the official figures declared by INEC.))) It begs the question, why then do you want to burn down Rivers State, when everyone who now holds political office emerged through a process designed and endorsed by you? Is it that you do not care about Rivers people and you are all about yourself? If so, I am forced to believe that those around you are not telling you the truth. The truth being that in a state where your words were law; where houses and businesses could be demolished or closed down without any recourse to legalities, where Executive Orders could be deployed to stifle the opposition, that your popularity is now at an all-time low. Probably because they are afraid of you, or of losing the benefits they gain from you, they fail to tell you that what you might perceive as a battle against your successor, has slowly but gradually degenerating into a battle against Rivers State and Rivers people. You know, there is a popular saying that, a man can cook for the community and the community will finish the food, but when a community decides to cook for one man, the reverse is the case. LEAVE FUBARA ALONE You have gone on and on about being betrayed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. You point fingers forgetting that some of those same fingers quick to spot betrayals point straight back at you. It is not Governor Fubara that has betrayed the PDP by working against it in the just concluded General Election, and working with the opposition at the State and Federal level to destabilize the party. It is you Honourable Minister. It is not Governor Fubara that betrayed Rivers people by instigating a political crisis with propensity to escalate ethnic tensions in Rivers State. It is you Honourable Minister. It is not Governor Fubara that has declared himself God over all in Rivers State and has no qualms with burning the state to the ground to prove a point. It is you Honourable Minister. It is you Honourable Minister who told the world that the APC was a cancer and you can never support a cancerous party. It is you Honourable Minister who ended up facilitating the emergence of the same “cancerous” APC that has accelerated the economic decline of this country and further impoverished our people with no remorse. All so you can be a Minister of the Federal Capital Territory? The lack of self awareness is gobsmacking. Some days back I came across a video where you talked about death and how you do not cry when you hear about the death of some people because you have no idea what might have caused it considering many a politician swear “over dead bodies” and still go back on their words. Those words made me think, and I could see the reason behind them. You see, In chosing to be God in the affairs of Rivers people, you have closed your eyes and ears to reason; you see nothing and hear nothing that can cause you to rethink on the path you have chosen. In your quest to “show Fubara” you have unwittingly united a vast majority of Rivers people behind him, so much that even those who despised him because of you, now like or love him, because of you too. In your scheming, I will advise you not to forget that “the voice of the people is the voice of God”. Note that the war which you have or are waging against Governor Fubara, has gone beyond being merely political as you might see in your minds eye. It is now one that, fortunately for some and unfortunately for others, has evolved into a war against Rivers people. It is good to point out that no one has taken a stand against Rivers people and won. No one has gone against God and won. In your defiant characteristic manner, it will be unfortunate if you believe your own hubris and that of those around you on the possibility of you being the first to successfully go against Rivers people. It will be a needless gamble; one where if you win you create more enemies for yourself than you can withstand on your political journey, and if you lose, your legacy becomes an inglorious and irredeemable one in Rivers State, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria at large. For your sake as regards posterity, it is my greatest wish that you have a moment of sobriety and a deep reflection and introspection on this path you have chosen. Honourable Minister, sir, what is left of your legacy is on the brink of being completely desecrated and relegated to the dustbin of our political history, and it will be a sad end to what I will say has been a wonderful political career that many can only dream of. The ball is in your court, and may God Almighty have mercy on us all and forgive us for our shortcomings. Hon (Sir) Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson (PhD, KSJI, FNIM)

YOUTHS IN LEADERSHIP, RIVERS STATE IS MOVING FORWARD. It is a popular traditional saying that "the youths are the leaders of tomorrow ", this agreed, the youths looked endless as the rising hopes of youths started dwindling, the lights promised at the end of the tunnel became a mare caricature to sooth their souls. Rather than achieve their dreams and aspirations in the political space, youths became tools for social media fights and disrespect for leaders with diverse political interests. The youths whose future has been compromised by godfathers became social media attack dogs as appointment were at the mercies of the leaders at the helm of affairs as most of them saw them as immature to handle serious positions, so sad!.Some intentionally refused to empower them for fear of competition or associates to grow above them, another sad reality. The highest position the youths could attain was special adviser on Social Media but for some council chairmen who raised some youths to enviable positions of trust. It is noteworthy that, youths are the primary and potential riggers for politicians during elections and despite juicy promises made to them, they are abandoned after swearing in. God is God and no man can ever share His glory, by divine arrangements, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara KSC, the Executive Governor of Rivers State was chosen amongst numerous contenders to fly his party's flag and Rivers people overwhelmingly voted for his victory through the ballots, a sign of relief was felt as the youths believed that their the pride of place will soon be announced. To God Be The Glory, God acted and Rt. Hon. Dr. Edison Ehie Esq, DSSRS a staunch youth full of life and capacity, Intellectually mobile and politically sagacious, like Aaron supported his Excellency,Governor Fubara. Edison Ehie , sacrificed his life and position for the youths to be liberated, he broke the jinx and gave the youths a voice to roar like the lions they are, he refused to decline the call to support the liberation to the promised land, he eschewed fear and favour and led from the front, and as expected temptations and tribulations came but the "Godsent" surmounted all through the grace of the supreme being that picked him. Fast forward to the present, as the tenure of the executive chairmen elapsed, God heard the cries of the youths who have been the engine room of every electoral victory in Rivers State and graciously the Rivers State Governor appointed over 75% youths to oversee the affairs of their various Local Government Areas on interim capacities pending when elections will be conducted, what a dream come through! The ways of God is never the ways of men. Sweet screams of joy and jubilation rented the air in the entire Rivers State as youths took over leadership at the third tier of government, the leaders of tomorrow who never dreamt of leading tomorrow are now leaders today and as the day goes by, announcements of appointments from the various youthful Caretaker Committee Chairmen saw the influx of competent youths who if given the opportunities long time ago would have gone far in the business of politics and their various endeavours. It is pertinent to mention here that Rivers State has never gotten it this good that youths of the state who have the capacities to lead are undoubtedly appointed into critical positions of trust, many thanks to the youthful Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara who saw the potentials in the youths and lifted them from the state of mare social media payroll compensation to core political leadership. To the Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ehie Edison Esq, DSSRS , your mission on earth just started. Your capacity from time immemorial as the Emeritus President of the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS), and other positions you've held to when you became the house of assembly member representing the good people of Ahoada East constituency II has been a case study for others to research about. Your legacy projects are littered everywhere in Ahoada East Local Government Area. You became an assembly member for all as you were never partisan in representing your people, may God continue to guide and bless you. To my fellow Youths, it is good to have interests, it is honorable for our various interests to be respected but desist from insulting people to please your masters as good masters will never ask you to insult their opponents. Above all, in reeling out your support, make sure that the people, nature and everything in it will not remember you tomorrow for bad as whatever you sow today, you shall reap tomorrow in double fold as karma has the address index of every individual. While we keep preaching and praying for peace in our dear Rivers State, let the men and women of good conscience remember the Governor of Rivers State in their prayers. May Rivers State Succeed! My name is Eric -Okpara Agwenitani Primus "Sharpillo" and I am writing from Okoma II Town, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State. Monday 24th June, 2024.

OIL THEFT: IMAN DIRECTOR GENERAL DEBUNKS ALLEGATIONS ON CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF INVOLVEMENT IN OIL THEFT ~ Says Okwu Nnabuike is an imposter and jobless ~ Calls on President Tinubu to disregard the baseless allegation and focus The Director General of Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) Special Task Force on Anti Smuggling and Adulteration, Amb. Chijioke Okoro has debunked the allegations leveled against the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla by one Mr. Okwu Nnabuike, an imposter and an acclaimed factional secretary of the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Youth Wing. Speaking to newsmen in his country home in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Amb Chijioke described such allegations as baseless, malicious and wicked. The Special Task Force Director General on Anti Smuggling and Adulteration hinted that the imposter has no job and a known means of survival as his stock in trade is making baseless allegations against constituted authorities with a ploy to be lobbied for relevance and kick backs. The task force chairman revealed that as a field marshall, he has over three thousand members actively working both on land and in the waterways therefore he and his team are in the best position to give accurate reports and appraisal on the performance of the Chief of Naval Staff in his fights against illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta Region especially. Amb. Okoro intimated members of the press that since the inception of Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff, Illegal Oil Bunkering has reduced in the Niger Delta as he has taken the war to their comfort zones as it hasn't been business as usual, he revealed that illegal oil bunkering culprits are crying everyday because their illegal means of survival have been busted and stopped to the bearest minimum, while warning Mr. Nnabuike to desist from maligning the character and high reputation of the Chief of Naval Staff. The IMAN DG for Special Taskforce on Anti Smuggling and Adulteration advised the imposter to get a means of livelihood and stop chasing shadows and clout as those days are over. The dogged field marshall while encouraging the Naval boss not to be deterred by the antics of the enemies of the state who wish him to fail and bring bad records to Ndi Igbos also used the medium to appreciate the Commander -In - Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment in fighting illegality especially in the Oil Sector and the continued support he has given to the Chief of Naval Staff which he said has shown his love for the Igbo extraction. Amb. Chijioke Okoro enjoined the President to focus on delivering the dividend of democracy to Nigerians especially the Niger Delta and avoid detractors as they have never meant well for his government. Recall that the factional Secretary of the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Youth Wing has issued a statement alleging that on 3rd of May, 2024, MT Montagu went alongside MT Prestigious and discharged 104,4033 BBL of crude. According to him, the crude was loaded from MT Byranston stationed at Newcross Facility SAN Barth OML 24 Marginal oil field therefore he suspected illegal oil bunkering. Okwu went as far as urging Mr. President to sack the Chief of Naval Staff and replace him with another Igbo man.

NWUCHE CALLS ON NIGERIANS TO RALLY BEHIND WIKE,COMMENDS PRESIDENT TINUBU. Hon Prince Chibudom Nwuche former deputy speaker has called on Nigerians to rally behind FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in his drive to restore the Abuja master plan and instill discipline in urban development. Those who have lived in Abuja since the return of the democratic dispensation in 1999 can attest to the deterioration of the capital city by illegal structures taking over public spaces, green areas illegally allocated by unscrupulous officials to cronies, areas for public facilities like fire services/ Police stations were also allocated to individuals. How can areas in a capital city not have available spaces for the construction of fire service and Police Stations etc. This was especially under the immediate past minister under whose watch parts of Abuja became like slums, the streets were dirty and unkempt, a clear reason why unqualified person should never be appointed to public offices on the basis of nepotism and tribalism. He commended President Tinubu for making the right decision in picking Wike who is a known achiever and who performed exceptionally as the immediate past governor of Rivers state, and brought development, infrastructure to all local governments and cities in the state. He described Wike as detribalized and nationalistic, who will treat all Nigerians equally. The appointment has restored the faith of many Nigerians in our unity, equality as Nigerians and a departure from the nepotism of the past where certain portfolios were reserved for only a part of the country. He wondered where those bitterly condemning were during the past administration where the ministers of FCT did practically nothing but occupy space and allow the Capital city to fall apart. No country that desires development should listen to archaic and unexposed persons, be they clerics, former government officials etc who prefer when only those from their tribe and religion hold sensitive offices including the defence and security portfolios in a multi ethnic and multi religious country. When one walks into a Nigerian airport,Police stations, immigration offices etc one should see a reflection of our diversity and all tribes fairly represented. Not the one where at immigration services, police, customs, etc you see a preponderance of one tribe and one religion . These are the issues that have held Nigeria down.He called on people of goodwill to speak up and not allow retrogressives drive down their parochial and divisive agenda. He called on President Tinubu to consolidate on his development strides by appointing more competent nationalists into positions of authority and removing anyone found to be a tribal or religious bigot, inorder to set Nigeria firmly on the path of rapid socio economic development and for her to join the committee of developed nations. We all know the antics of these critics who only see things good when their tribe are appointed into positions, even when those people are destroying our country on account of their incompetence, bigotry and putting a knife to our national unity they keep quiet. He urged Wike not to be distracted by these critics as Nigerians are much wiser after suffering under incompetent leadership for many years, and understand the antics of these critics. He urged President Tinubu to ignore such people snd continue on the part of giving every Nigerian a sense of belonging irrespective of their tribe and religion.

ITS MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY: Dear Wifey, Today is very special to me especially as it falls in the month of June. The month of my birth and the month when Kings, Queens and Special creatures created by God were birthed. It's your birthday and I celebrate the Amazon you have grown to become. You are not only my wife but also my best friend. You listen to my midnight rants and put up with all my bad habits and disturbances. I am happy and lucky to have found you, a partner I can discuss anything with and be myself. Whenever I am tired of fighting my way in this world, it is your presence that gives me peace and boosts my morale to fight on. Dear Wifey, I feel proud when my friends and family eulogize the good in you, we do not fight about who is more and less because we both know how important we are to each other. The best part of our relationship is we both understand each other’s unspoken thoughts. I will love you forever my sweetheart. Thank you for understanding and forgiving my excesses. Thank you for the quick reconciliation whenever the road goes tough! I am not the most handsome man on earth, neither am I a match for your beauty and special blue eyes, but you chose and loved me unconditionally, for this I am grateful! You love me with all your heart and trust me with your life. This always made me strive and be the best husband for you. And I will continue to try my best to prove a good husband to you and our kids. I count myself lucky to have a loyal, respectful and industrial woman like you as my wife; I feel proud whenever I think of the fact that I am your husband and father of our beloved blue eyes daughters "Usamali Elliana" and "Uwuma Elsie". Thank you for not also living off worldly things; even when I turned empty handed on most of your requests and needs, I could find the happiness in your eyes just to see me and know I have the zeal to take you anywhere of your choice with time. I wish to spend many more amazing years, loving you and our kids, fighting and making up for you. Babe! You go enjoy oh, no worry! Many men might have beautiful wives, some might have kind-hearted wives as you but having an understanding wife who respects me and welcomes my friends who come to the house at intervals even when it's not convenient for you, now that is something rare and I don't take it for granted. I am glad that I got that rare woman in my life. I still wonder how you can understand my every single gesture, every unspoken word! I know I am not an easy guy, I am short-tempered and impatient but you never let my weaknesses overwhelm me. Thank you for protecting this union and proving detractors wrong. You have always loved and respected me the same, even during the times when I was least loveable, when people saw me as an "Ordinary MC and Event Manager", when some saw me as a "Social Media Data Boy", today the story is different. Thank you for turning my life around and changing me into who I am now. I love you with all my heart babe. I would go on and on to write but let me stop here for now. Enjoy your new age my Jewel of Inestimable Value! Happy Birthday once more my Love!

Hon Prince Chibudom Nwuche . Late Eze Ekpeye II, His Imperial Majesty Eze (Flt Lieut.) Robinson O. Robinson JP in 2017 pronounced and blessed Nwuche with the singular highest honour and title before his demise. Eze Robinson O. Robinson who passed on in 2018 had on account of the leadership qualities and commitment of Hon. Chibudom Nwuche to Ekpeye courses both during and after his tenure as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, bestowed on him the title of Esama Ekpeye Logbo. Nwuche To Leaders: Only Service To the People, promotion of their welfare, humility Can Guarantee Electoral Victory. Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon Prince Chibudom Nwuche has urge political leaders to offer quality and effective leadership to the people in order the earn their trust which will in turn translate to electoral victory, and to put the welfare of the masses before their personal comfort. Speaking at St Barnabas Anglican Church Ochigba Parish in the Diocese of Ahoada, during the Easter Sunday and thanksgiving service by a Non Governmental Organization known as New Era in Rivers State for the successful 2023 general elections, the former lawmaker called on leaders at all levels and those in authority to use their God given positions for the upliftment of the people and not to use power to oppress them, noting that it was possible for the PDP in Rivers State to win the elections easily because of the landmark achievements of the state governor Chief Barr Ezenwo Wike across the state in terms of infrastructure and human capital development. This is unlike some leaders who used their positions to inflict pain and hardship upon the people, emphasizing that with such anti people leadership styles, voters will have no option but to demonstrate their rejection of such political leaders through their votes against them or their anointed candidates, as was the case with some of the parties that contested the just concluded gubernatorial elections. Hon Nwuche who is the grand Patron of New Era commended the group for returning to thank God for the peace and success recorded during the 2023 general elections especially in Rivers State that produced Sir Siminialayi Fubara of the PDP as Governor Elect. He noted that the elections were free and free, and even where people expected violence like in Ahoada East, there was none. He wondered why some politicians were making so much noise and trying to drag INEC into a needless controversy when they know that they lost woefully in the gubernatorial elections in Rivers state, as they had nothing to showcase to win the peoples vote, having wasted the opportunity their leaders had to positively impact on the state and her citizens during their several outings in leadership positions. He maintained that PDP won by landslide in Rivers state, and will still do so if the elections were repeated 100 times. He thanked the people of Ochigba who voted over 90% for the PDP in the gubernatorial elections on account of their trust in his and others leadership and openess to them. Some of their leaders did not only not promote Rivers people but went as far as terminating projects of Rivers sons gotten with the support of good Nigerians from other regions of the country. Who will vote for such vindictive and selfish leaders, who see power as a means to aggrandise themselves and oppress the generality of Nigerians, and can not point to any development they attracted to Rivers state during their various outings in Government. He used the opportunity to call on Christians to exhibit good virtues at all times to demonstrate the exemplary life of Jesus Christ whose resurrection Christians all over the world commemorate today by showing love and care to Christians and non Christians alike in order to achieve peaceful coexistence and societal development. He urged people especially those in leadership positions to be humble as all life is temporary, and material things mean nothing to those that understand the essence of our journey on this plain.

PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN AMBREY INTERNATIONAL AND AMBREY NIGERIA ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE. All seem not to be well with one of the World’s Maritime Security giants Ambrey International as indications emerge that it’s partnership with Ambrey Nigeria one of its strongest business operational base in West Africa is about to collapse, and maybe over on account of breach of trust on the part of Ambrey International and mounting unpaid debts to its local partners for providing escort vessels, bunkers etc to support international their clients. Ambrey International reputed for providing maritime security to shipping companies such as STENA, MSC, COSCO, FRONTLINE etc all over West Africa and has presence in Ghana, Togo, Republic of Benin, Cameroun etc is loosing its business base as local providers in Nigeria are especially unhappy with Ambrey International who have in the past few months altered the payment terms to over 60 days upon receipt of invoice whilst they charge international clients 50% upfront thereby delaying payments to local service providers after receiving payments from International shipping companies. This mounting debts have also not spared their local partners that are the backbone of Ambrey operations in Nigeria and who have been financing the business for Ambrey in the past five years. The debts to one particular client runs into several millions of dollars besides several millions of dollars owed to other providers including bunker suppliers, security vessel providers, port services etc. Ambrey International has also severally been accused by local operators including MASPAN of unethical practices, including under pricing of services and deployment of sub standard vessels for escort services in Nigerian territorial waters.Tax evasion, and posing a threat to the National security of Nigeria by their involvement in issues of piracy and kidnap and ransome. These difficulties of Ambrey International became noticeable after the failed merger and acquisition by Ocean Infinity which may have inflicted losses on the Ambrey group who now appear to be struggling with huge unpaid bills to contractors and providers in several countries in West Africa. Attempts to reach Chris Charnley the M/D of Ambrey International were unsuccessful to confirm if this information filtering into the market is correct. With this development, it is feared that Ambrey International maybe losing many of its clients who have noticed a drop in service delivery as service providers now prefer to divert their vessels to more serious Maritime Security Companies who meet up prompt payments.
