At least one person has been shot dead in a clash between the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency and Kwara State Polytechnic Students in Ilorin, Kwara State.

It was learnt that the clash, which was between the NDLEA and the KwaraPoly students, started around 8am on Saturday.

According to the source within the school community disclosed that, they were officials of State Investigation Bureau, an elite intelligence unit in the state command of the police.

According to FIJ, “the gunmen, suspected to be officers of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), can be seen arriving the school premises in a white bus and shooting as students flee to safety.”

However, it was reliably gathered that there was a raid by relevant security operatives in the school environment late hours of yesterday till this morning, the raid was said to have been resisted by the students of the institution.

The security agency, in an attempt to disparse the students, fired some shots in the air which allegedly strayed off course to kill a student in a nearby house.

Another source, who equally claimed that people were injured, said they suddenly heard gunshots, which made them to scamper for safety.

He said, “It was a retaliatory attack. The Kwara Poly Students went to retaliate the harassment inflicted on them by the NDLEA.

The clash which led to block of roads and left passengers stranded on the street.

21 persons have reportedly registered their interest in becoming the next Soun of Ogbomosho land, by purchasing interest forms at a sum of N250, 000 (two hundred and fifty thousand naira.

With the sales of the form now closed, it was gathered that the ruling house whose turn is to produce the next Soun, has set up a committee that would screen the princes who had expressed interest to be the next Soun of Ogbomoso land.

The inauguration of the screening committee members will be held today (sunday) as there are expectations on them to commence screening of the aspirants as soon as possible.

The committee whose term of reference will be to conduct interviews for the aspirants, review their characters, conducts, profiles, physical fitness, tolerance, forbearance, amongst others; is expected to recommend candidates that would be presented for endorsement by the whole family and subsequently by the kingmakers.

Confirming the development, members of Laoye ruling house have disclosed that the selection of members for the screening committee would be based on competence, justice and fairness.

“It is only when men of integrity and high moral standards are selected that we can expect to have a good candidate. Justice, fairness and unbiased attitude should be the guiding principle.

“The will of God must be allowed to prevail,” a member of the family said.

The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, is dead.

Though the death is yet to be announced officially but sources at the palace who claimed anonymity confirmed the death.

The monarch, who died at age 93, passed away today, 2 January, 2022 at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Oba Adetunji was a successful businessman and Ibadan was peaceful during his reign.

Boma and Tega were caught on video having moment in the BBNaija house which from the reactions, many could interprete to be sexual intercourse and pre-intimacy.

The video of Boma and Tega having their intimate moment in the BBNaija house showed the two of them making movements under the duvet and the reactions show that fans have made their conclusions.

Tega who is married, has been close to fellow housemate, Boma for a while now and fans have expected this for a while.

Boma and Angel aggressively cuddled under the duvet in the middle of the night while the other housemates went to bed.

BBNaija housemates, WhiteMoney, and Queen were cuddled up last night under their duvet in the house and the reactions are hilarious.

YBNL chief Olamide, has hailed his protégé Fireboy for the kind of music he makes.

Olamide and Fireboy spoke with OkayAfrica’s Nadia Neophytou in an interview. While Fireboy spoke on the first time he met Olamide, the YBNL boss spoke on Fireboy’s sound.

Fireboy said he would always remember when he met Olamide because it was a big moment for him.

“I remember. Because that was a big moment for me. I met him for the first time in person at a hotel in Lekki. We exchanged a few words — he’s a man of few words. But I think we started recording that same day, working on the album.”

Olamide in turn, said the fast riser does not sound his age.

Olamide looks on, smiling assuredly. Since signing Fireboy to his YBNL Nation label in 2018, he’s watched the soulful young singer rise to become one of Nigeria’s most talked-about artists — from his breakout single, “Jealous,” to his debut album Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps, hit collabs with D.Smoke and Cuppy, and his sophomore release, Apollo, last year.

Even while he shares his own latest record, UY Scuti, with the world, Olamide nurtures Fireboy’s career with as much care and attention as he does his own, oscillating between his two roles of artist and label exec seamlessly. The much-awaited BBNaija Reality Show Season 6 is set to commence in the next few days.

Following the conclusion of the open call auditions in May 2021, all is now set for the premiere of the sixth season of Africa’s biggest reality TV show, Big Brother Naija, this weekend.

For its sixth season, BBNaija will feature a special double launch show on July 24 and 25 respectively.

Both shows will air from 7 pm on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 29, with a simulcast on Africa Magic Showcase, Africa Magic Urban and Africa Magic Family.

Also, for the first time ever, BBNaija fans in the United Kingdom will have access to the live 24/7 show via African online streaming service, Showmax.

Naija’s Hottest Music Talent and Songwriter, Bella Shmurda fresh from dropping his latest EP, ‘High Tension 2.0‘ has revealed that his debut album, ‘Hypertension’ is ready.

The singer was speaking to Beat FM’s Ada on the Morning Rush show on Wednesday, the 14th of July 2021. He was asked if the EP is the only body of work he’s going to release this year. In reply, Bella Shmurda revealed this his new album ‘Hypertension’ is ready.

In his words, “This is high tension, hypertension is coming. My album is ready”. When asked to explain, he said, “High Tension is an EP, a flavor of what is to come”.

Apart from naming ‘Hypertension’ as the title of his debut album, Bella Shmurda also dropped a few names as the featured acts. He was pressured by Ada of Beat FM to reveal some of the local and international features on the album. Then, he revealed that he has songs with Popcaan, Julian Marley, and Victoria Kimani.

The Dagbana Republik hitmaker, Bella Shmurda was asked to explain his creative process. He said the first he likes to do is connect with people and put himself in their shoes. We can be sure Bella Shmurda’s new album will be all kinds of motivational.

In his words;
