PoliticsFuel Hike: Comparison With Other Countries Illogical – PDP by Sheynex(op): 11:18pm On Sep 07, 2020
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the Federal Government’s comparison of the cost of fuel with other countries of the world, describing it as “illogical”.

PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan also said the attempt by the presidency to justify the increase in the pump price to N160 is provocative and confrontational.

"It is incredulous and shameful for this administration to predicate the reckless increase in the cost of fuel on a faulty comparison with costs in other countries of the world, whereas the daily standard of living, the purchasing power and living wage of the average Nigerian in the last five years cannot be compared with what obtains in those countries.

"Such comparison is therefore not only absurd but also completely illogical,” the party said.

According to the PDP, the defence of hike, which it said, has worsened the hardship being suffered by Nigerians under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, “is in bad taste and should be rescinded immediately.

"It is indeed an unpardonable slap on the sensibilities of Nigerians that after running a heavily corrupt oil trade and subsidy regime, through which over N14 trillion had been allegedly frittered by its officials, the Buhari administration seeks to put the burden of high costs on innocent and already impoverished citizens.”

The party said it rejected the attempt to hinge the increase in fuel price on presumed removal of oil subsidy, adding that the administration has failed to account for the proceeds of oil sales in the last five years, “even in the face of confession by the Managing Director of the NNPC, Mele Kyari, in April this year, that the APC administration had been running an over-bloated and sleazy oil subsidy regime.”

According to the PDP, the Buhari administration had failed to account for the confession by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) that it was engaged in secret siphoning of oil money through a claimed subsidizing of fuel for certain West Africa countries.

Kemi Olunloyo Declare War With Instablog9ja, Vow To Expose Everything It Has Been Doing

There seems to be a social media war brewing between controversial Nigerian journalist and blogger, Dr Kemi Olunloyo and one of Nigeria’s popular blogging site, Instablog9ja.

Dr Kemi Olunloyo who runs her an online media page, Kemitalks, is angry with the way the alleged handlers of Instablog, Moji Delano, owner of MojiDelanoBlog and Lillian has been peddling and portraying news to the public.

According to her, Instablog9ja thrives on “defamatory sarcasm and uses the platform to destabilize other bloggers in a bid to capture the entire media market.”

Read her comments below:

I am declaring a bloodbath on @instablog9ja and will expose everyone and everything it has been doing for almost 5 years now and has to STOP! A blog that thrives on DEFAMATORY SARCASM that is actually not illegal. Moji and Lillian and everybody at HTG Media have been using their platform to DESTABILIZE the little bloggers so as to capture the entire market and take advertisement revenue from them. You post headlines to make people hate me and slander me on your platform and it’s time I taught you a lesson. You do the same with other celebrities too. There is no law to stop you but I will RETURN TO THE BLOGGING AND JOURNALISM market to create competition for you. You create so much HATE that the smaller bloggers that syndicate your info spreads the hate. I once said if I reach 400K I will come back to the media market. I’m the first Nigerian blogger on Google Pyramid 1999 and a notable Journalist. I don’t defame people, the pastor who had me arrested withdrew his case. Nigerians have an insatiable appetite for news and there is a thin line between fake news and real news distorted to make someone look bad to the public. Instablog was hacked 3 times in 2017 because of this. This time the hacker may not return the page to you. Stop creating an atmosphere to have your audience HATE people. Stop taking my posts and posting half of it to create traffic for you and hate for me. I have now exposed your hate Moji Delano and Lillian Aisha of HTG Media. The Opebi helicopter crash and girl twerking are examples. Stop distorting news. You promoted Linus Bitcoin Lord after collecting 150K per post from him to get him followers and when the EFCC arrested him your caption stated he was “harvested” I wrote a post on a girl twerking on Instagram, you took my post making it look like I hate girls without showing the video. To my fans or incoming fans as well as advertisers, don’t waste your time and money on a blog that DISTORTS NEWS and uses it to insult someone’s character. Instablog is #1 in Nigeria and Kemi Olunloyo is #2. That is going to change tonight. I will be returning full time to Blogging and Journalism to take @instablog9ja OFF THE MARKET.

CrimeNigerian Mother Of Five Opens Up On Why She Dumped Her Newborn Baby by Sheynex(op): 4:17pm On Sep 04, 2020
A single mum of five, Dupe Alabi who was recently apprehended after she dumped her newborn baby just after delivery in Ogbomosho, Oyo state, has opened up on why she took the drastic decision to dump her own child.

In a chat with BBC Yoruba, Dupe said many years ago she got "married' to her first husband, a carpenter, with whom she had her first child. However, they had a big fight and she left the marriage when their child turned seven.

She told BBC that she moved out of his house to Ogbomosho where she started working at a canteen. She said it was there she met her second husband whom she had two children for, a boy and a girl.

According to her, while she was married to her second husband, her first husband kept on coming to her, insisting she must return to him. She said she refused since she was already married to another man.

Dupe said her second husband packed out of their matrimonial home and moved in with another lady after he got wind that her first husband was making advances at her and threatening to take her back. She said her second husband left her with three children and no source of income.

Dupe who could not hold back tears said she had to return to her parents' house with her three children and began to hawk some items just to make a living. She said her second husband refused to provide money for the upkeep of their children.

According to her, her first husband called her one day and informed her that he was willing to take her back with all her children. She told him she wouldn't be able to come as she has nowhere to send her children from her second marriage. She said her first husband asked her not to worry and promised to take care of all three children.

The distraught mum said she returned to him and had another child for him. According to her, they had another disagreement when he asked her to return the children from her second husband to him. When the demand became too much, she moved out of his house with her four children.

Dupe said a year and a half later, her first husband called her and asked her to come and collect some money for the upkeep of his children. She went and they had sex which resulted in her fifth pregnancy. When she realized she was pregnant, she reached out to him and he denied owning the pregnancy.

Ashamed and confused as to how she would take care of five children, Dupe said it was then she made up her mind to hide her pregnancy and dump the baby when she gives birth. She said she denied her pregnancy even when people who saw her asked if she was pregnant.

"On the 11th of August, when I had my baby, I did not not inform anybody. While I was having contractions, I went to the back of an abandoned building close to Akala Hospital in Oke Elerin. People go into the abandoned building to defecate and then throw it away.

That was where I stood and the baby came out. Panicking, I carried the baby and didn't know whether it was a boy or a girl. I just carried the baby and dropped it on the floor close the hospital where the workers can see the baby.

Then I hung around to see if anybody will carry the baby and hope that nobody will guess that I was the one who dropped the child.

After the baby was carried, I left for home. At about 8pm, I returned to my house. When I greeted them in my house, the husband of the woman who brought me to where I reside, surprising asked if I wasn't the one who gave birth and dumped the baby.

I wanted to deny but the man told me that my baby was in Akala hospital and that my mother is around and that everyone had been looking for me since morning. That was when I couldn't say anything anymore. I began to cry and I couldn't deny the fact that I wasn't the one that dropped the baby there''

The Local government chairman in Ogbomosho Central, Adeyinka Remi Oluwaseun, has taken over the upkeep of her baby and has also promised to provide her with a job within the council.

EducationBREAKING: FG Okays Full Reopening Of Schools For Academic Activities by Sheynex(op): 7:00pm On Sep 03, 2020
The Federal Government says state governments and school administrators should start making preparations for the full reopening of schools in the country.

Recall that schools in the country had been shut in March as part of measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.

However, the Federal Government announced the resumption of graduating pupils effective August 4, 2020, to write this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination from August 17, 2020, through September 12, 2020.

But speaking on Thursday, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, during a briefing at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, said the task force recommends phased return of students.

Aliyu said, “For educational institutions which include daycare, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. Educational institutions should begin the process of working towards potentially reopening within this phase.

“However, we strongly recommend that states conduct risk assessment to ensure all schools are at a level of compliance and create a monitoring mechanism to assess, create, and monitor this level of preparedness.

“Meanwhile, all daycares and educational institutions are to remain closed to in-classes until this level of risk is assessed. And if there will be opening of schools, it must be staged and preferably carried out in phases to ensure that this does not pose a risk to the general public and in particular to vulnerable groups that might end up getting infected by students going back home.”

PoliticsEFCC, Police Promoting Internet Frauds In Nigeria – NANS Alleges by Sheynex(op): 2:17pm On Jun 11, 2020
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has accused men and officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as well as those of the Nigeria Police Force of acts that encourage internet fraud, otherwise known as Yahoo-Yahoo, in Nigeria.

NANS alleged that operatives of the EFCC and the police do collect bribe from suspected internet fraudsters and set them free, instead of bringing them to book.

The students’ association was reacting to some arrests made by the EFCC and a unit of the police force on some campuses.

NANS spokesperson, Azeez Adeyemi, during a press briefing on Thursday in Abeokuta to commemorate the 2020 June 12 celebration, expressed displeasure that the security agents allegedly harass, intimidate and molest Nigerian youths, all in the name of arresting Yahoo-boys.

Adeyemi who spoke on different issues affecting the nation, said though NANS does not condone any act of criminality, activities of the EFCC and the police, he said, have been increasing the rate of internet fraud.

“We have watched with displeasure the manner at which some of our security agencies harass, intimidate and molest Nigerian youths all in the name of arresting internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo boys”, especially on our campuses.

“While we do not support and condone any act of criminality, we feel the manner at which the men of the Nigeria Police Force and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) carry out their operations is not only condemnable but also further increases the rate of internet fraud.

“Why did we say this? It is a public knowledge that some police officers and EFCC officials accept bribe from suspected internet fraudsters and later set them free.

This has further contributed to the increasing crime rate in the country because these fraudsters now know that their freedom can be bought and this has further encouraged them in perpetrating crime,” Adeyemi stated emphatically.

Speaking further, the NANS National PRO maintained that “if Nigerians must truly enjoy the dividends of democracy and reap the fruits of the labours of our heroes past, corruption must be kicked out of Nigeria.”

He posited that corruption has almost killed all the critical sectors of the Nigerian economy, adding that, “for many years, corruption seems impossible to defeat. But we believe that, with sincerity of purpose, selfless service and honesty which were the qualities of MKO Abiola, corruption will be defeated.

“Also, our politicians must be ready to make sacrifices and render selfless services. This is what late MKO Abiola, who fought for our democracy and paid for it with his life, was known for.”

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his resolve to wage war against corruption, urging Nigerian youths to be patriotic and prayerful if the country must achieve her core objectives.

CrimeImpose Life Imprisonment For Rapists, ASUU Tells FG. by Sheynex(op): 1:55pm On Jun 11, 2020
Following increased cases of rape in the country, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday urged the Federal Government to impose life imprisonment on convicted rapists.

Dr Dipo Akomolafe, the Chairman of ASUU at the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, said life imprisonment would curb the criminal act in the country.

Akomolafe told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Okitipupa that rape cases were rising because government was not enforcing the Criminal Code which recommended life imprisonment for convicted rapists and 14 years for attempted rape.

” Rape is a condemnable act which should not be tolerated in a decent society.

“Of recent, rape has been on alarming increase as most of the victims are killed by the peretrators who are, at times, known persons or family relations, in order just to cover their heineous crime.

“There is a law prohibiting rape and making it a criminal offence. Nigeria’s Criminal Code recommends life imprisonment for those convicted for rape and 14 years for attempted rape.

“This punishment is enough to create fear in the minds of potential perpetrators, if only the government can enforce the law.

” This will also reduce the act of rape and attempted rape in the society,” Akomolafe said.

CelebritiesCOVID-19: Lagos Lifts Ban On Event Centres by Sheynex(op): 2:27pm On Jun 09, 2020
https://mynewspage.com.ng/2020/06/09/covid-19-lagos-lifts-ban-on-event-centres/

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has lifted the ban imposed on event centres in the Hospitality and Tourism industry due to the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, made this known during a live Instagram session on Sunday.

She explained that event centres are free to re-open for business provided they have registered with the state government through its newly introduced Register-to-Open initiative.

The commissioner noted that the initiative was meant to certify the safety preparedness of the event centres before they are allowed to re-open for business activities.
Responding to speculations relating to whether the number of persons allowed would exceed 20 persons, Akinbile-Yusuf, explained that at-most one-fifth of the capacity of the centre should house not more than 500 persons.

She said: “This depends on the size of the event hall, if it is going to one-fifth of the normal occupancy level of each venue, then that is fine but no matter how big the event hall, it cannot occupy more than 500 people at a time, that is what the guideline says.

The Mercy, Ike and Ella love-triangle

PoliticsCOVID-19: Majority Of Nigerians Still At Risk Of Virus – PTF by Sheynex(op): 7:19pm On Jun 08, 2020
The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has warned that a majority of Nigerians are still at risk of contracting the virus.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the PTF Mr Boss Mustapha gave the warning on Monday during the daily media briefing by the task force in Abuja.

Mustapha however charged all citizens to play their role in ensuring that the disease did not transmit easily by observing the guidelines and advisories so far provided to prevent transmission, noting that failure to prevent wide transmission would be deadly for the population.

“The PTF wishes to emphasize that a great majority of Nigerians are still susceptible to COVID-19, and if we allow it to transmit easily between us, it may be even more deadly.

“If everyone diligently observes the guidelines, we can collectively control the spread of the virus, and help to protect our health facilities as well as save lives”, he warned.

Three high-profile cases of rape in the past week has reopened a long-standing conversation on how to deal with rapists.

The rape and murder of Barakat Bello, a teenager in Ibadan, Oyo State is the latest to reignite national outrage against rapists in the past week.

18-year-old Bello was found raped and stabbed to death at the back of the home she shared with her family in the Akinyele area of Ibadan on Monday, June 1, 2020.

The deceased, described as a “nice and easy-going” girl by a family friend, was a student of the Federal College of Animal and Production Technology, Moor Plantation, Apata, Ibadan.

She joined the college last year to undertake the National Diploma programme in Science Laboratory Technology.

Onaolapo Farouq, another family friend, who taught her extra mural classes in preparation for her UTME before she joined the college, told Pulse that Bello was a decent student who was easy-going.

The deceased, the older of her parents’ two children, was also described by neighbours as a lively, respectful person who got along well with everyone in the area.

But that lively, respectful person was found sexually assaulted and dead in the comfort of her home, no idea of who could have done such a thing.

The spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, Fadeyi Olugbenga, told Pulse on Wednesday, June 3 that officers of the Moniya Division have already commenced investigations.

“The Police there are working on it and details will be communicated later,” he said.

The tragedy has left many residents reeling, as everyone is curious to understand how such an easy-going young lady became the victim of such a vicious crime.

SportsOkagbare: I Have Mental Strength Going For Me Lately; An Honour Representing Afr by Sheynex(op): 11:22pm On Jun 02, 2020
Nigerian superstar Blessing Okagbare says that when she competes at the Rabat Diamond League, it feels like she is representing the whole of Africa.
Okagbare has competed at the Moroccan meet every year since it was incorporated into the Diamond League circuit four years ago, but she won for the first time there only last year, with a season’s best of 11.05 in the 100m.

In this interview Sunday evening, the sprint and long jump star bares her mind in the Rabat edition of the Wanda Diamond League Call Room…

You have competed in every single edition of the Rabat Diamond League, but you had to wait till last year to get your first ever win…

Okagbare: “When I first heard they were going to have a Diamond League in Rabat back in 2016, I was so happy. I love competing in general whichever place, wherever I go as an athlete. For me, Africa was more like home, and it was an honour to be part of it and to represent the continent – that was my first take for me going there. And every time I go there I hope I’m gonna do well especially as I feel I’m at home. It might not be Nigeria but it is Africa and I think I have lots of fans there as well, so I wanted to perform really well in front of them. But finally last year, I got a win… Ooh… laughter.(She ran 11.05 seconds in the 100m race to win ahead of Ivory Coast’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou who ran 11.09 seconds).
You competed there in 2017 and 2018. You struggled a bit in 2018, ran faster in 2017 and I don’t think you remember in 2018 you ran a 200m?

Okagbare: Ouch! I remember. It was an horrible race…

You actually started well that year before things turned awry. It was like an up and down season for you?

Okagbare: When I started 2018, my season was going amazingly great. But I don’t know what I did, and my body just went downhill with injury and I don’t know if most people were watching. It was like I was taking one and a half steps – not two steps every time I sprint. When I take a long step, the other step is short – people going forward, I feel like I’m going backwards. It was not something I wanted to do, but it was just what my body could do. With that, I was dealing with that part of the injury and my thyroid just go wack completely. So I was dealing with so much going on and my thyroid for me is – I just gained weight and it’s like what is going on? And before they could figure out what was happening, it was a little too late. They just said my thyroid was not completely dead, it was not performing at all. It was not! Because sometimes I just jog around and I’m tired – and I’m better than that, what’s going on? It just didn’t add up but with time we’ve been able to fix it. I was there (in Rabat), like I said I was taking this (racing) for Africa and I got to go. So that 200m for me was a bad one. I was tired even before I got to the finishing line – I was just waiting to finish the race, honestly. (She ran a mind boggling 23.42 seconds to place seventh in the race barely four months after she sped to a new 22.04 seconds personal best, the second fastest time in the world that year).
