DEXTROVERT:This is 2026, not 2006. Take pictures & prove your point. |
It's been a nice conversation. I wish you the best as you find peace and purpose. Have a great week ![]() tctrills: |
Depending on the religious congregation. Keep in mind that not all orders have vow of poverty. Also, you may not have full details of actual ownership. Vehicle may belong to the church or the religious congregation. In addition, some of these nuns are from rich background. If the superior permits, a car gift from family may be accepted for community use. The details and facts is often the missing link when things don't add up. tctrills: |
If a nun who is part of a congregation requiring a vow of poverty acquires personal property for exclusive use them that's a violation of her vow. Even Jesus had a Judas when he assembled his team. Most modern reverend sisters definitely abide by this vow. Though negative news is more attractive to people. However, to be open-minded, I don't know where you live so cultural influence might be a factor but it's not the norm everywhere. I have lived in 3 different continents and that's my observation. tctrills: |

tctrills:Have you checked your dictionary? Webster.com may help on definitions of poverty. |
tctrills:Yes but not the only definition. A simple look at a dictionary would help. |
Well summarized. Mindlog: |
tctrills:An average Nigerian thinks of poverty strictly in terms of economics or finance or essentially, struggling to survive. |
tctrills:This is not a good approach to learning. Poverty in this context is not restricted to economic state. A vital component of research and knowledge is an open mind. Don't force your quest for knowledge into a pre-defined box. |
mariovito:The cultural influence cannot be isolated from most human undertakings. The behavioral pattern you just described is definitely alien to many people but may be the norm in some parts of the world. |
tctrills:Terminology from a totally different era. It's not poverty in the "Nigerian" sense as we know it. It's more of detachment from property acquisition. They are well taken care of and whatever gifts, donations or payment received from jobs belong to the community. |
soccerlite:Who is wire wire at Ife? ![]() |
This is what Sowore is always addressing but as real Nigerians, you are incapable of knowing your true friends. Ordering an arrest is illegal and judges incarcerating people for prolonged periods prior to final judgment is unethical, unless it impacts national security. Let's fight wrong processes together instead of brainless bandwagoning. This is coming from me, a fan of Wike, Mr Projects. |
Fcwilly:You mean the same Obasanjo that was asking kings to stand up at a public function citing his position as former president? C'mon now |
runningriot:Makinde better take it easy. His immunity ends next year and there are loads of petitions waiting for him. |
Port Vale should take it easy on small Chelsea. |
Nice airport they got right there in Ogun State. |
Let's stop using misinformation as a tool. The pendulum swings both ways. This is much ado about nothing and Seun Okinbaloye knows. Where is Wike's performance report card in FCT between January and March 2026? We are not hearing about projects anymore. That should be the priority, beer parlour talks should be secondary but trust our simpleton journalists. |
She is finished, not the country. An average hardworking and honest Nigerian is already outside working diligently. Most of them are not celebrities. No one notices them as they are not newsworthy, they keep moving in spite of daily challenges. wealthyvic1: |
Seyi Makinde, very very stubborn character ![]() |
Oyo State is shocking to me. A Seyi Makinde that was widely supported actually led the battle against the independence of local governments. In general, he started on the right track but started deviating with some head-scratching decisions especially in terms of developmental projects. He has done a great job with many roads in Ibadan metro, and some key link roads in Oyo, Iseyin, Ogbomoso etc. The sour tastes are his actions with regards to the funds meant for local governments, which he has unrepentantly cornered, shady acquisition of lands and properties in Ibadan, mismanagement of issues around federal government intervention fund for Bodija explosion victims, among others. |
Let us learn to mind our business. It is not mandatory to have an opinion on everything. Katsina is not Nnewi. |
That's fine but let's quit the emotional blackmail. He already apologized on that & explained the circumstances. This is a totally different discussion. zionic: |
naturalflow:You are right, he actually takes 5 cans in total daily and eats like a 6 year old. However, here is another useful information: According to the CDC and the American Diabetes Association: "Black adults are approximately 60% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than white adults." |
This is not just for you at individual level, it is also critical for the economic well-being of families in a country where majority are relying on their children as retirement plan. Please have mercy on the younger generation, and younger generation should please have mercy on your unborn children. The global population is much larger and competition is higher, cost of healthcare is a huge burden and should only be for unavoidable health conditions. Self-inflicted or avoidable health issues should be avoided via healthy habits. Above all, the pain is not desirable. Reduce the sugar indulgence, stop inhaling filth in the name of smoking, and stop drinking undiluted ogogoro if you must drink. Be disciplined! |
Gbas gbos food don land for the usual suspects. Justice for 2Baba in advance ![]() |
lastmessenger:With what we see daily on the streets, let's worry about what Nigeria may look like in five years. |
Sonnobax15:Totally agree with you. He is also a beggar and he is right. The truth is bitter. |
I am Yoruba and I totally agree with him. We have totally pooped on our value system with shameless begging and many of our people today even mock those working diligently. The truth is bitter by nature and design. Atelewo eni ki tan ni je. Ise loogun is. Oruko rere o San ju wura ati fadaka lo. We have rubbished all these Omoluabi sayings over the years. Peller himself is a prime example of this decadence, he is a beggar. Yet, it was shocking to see video clips of a young boy harassing him for money in a core traditional Yoruba city like Oyo. Someone like that will have no problem switching to kidnapping and armed robbery. It is not too late for Yorubas but we should not allow the dishonest ones destroy our values. Unfortunately, most of our palaces are now in the hands of fraudsters and people of weak character with zero integrity. |
