This is for my fellow brothers on EDGE who want to double the speed of their USB modem (from 236.8kbps to 460.8kbps)
Been using it and it makes more sense since we can't get 3G speeds. This is for only USB modems oh, not phone modems.

Get to your computers control panel. Click on Phones and Modems. Click on the modems tab. Select your attached modem and click properties
Click on Change settings. then go to the Advanced tab. You will find a box for Extra initialization commands. Paste this in that space:

at&fx+cbst=0,0,1;+CGDCONT=,,"your Access point name here"<cr>

In the part of "your access point name", put the network access point name you are using
e.g MTN: web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net

Click OK and Exit.
Establish your modem connection and then check network sharing center and experience the difference.

Please note that this tweak affects the port where the modem is attached. It is better to configure different USB ports for different networks for use with the modem cos there will be a conflict. Hope this is understood.

Just put another network SIM inside the modem and plug it. A pop up window will come up for you to input the unlock code. after that, you can create network profiles for the different networks you wish to use with the modem

that's great. Can you state the steps to take?
I got my modem unlocked but not flashed.

It is at your OWN RISK. You will need to download the dashboard software. This can be found at www.dc-files.com
After downloading the files, plug your modem (remember to remove the SIM card). Exit the modem application that pops up as always. Make sure it is completely exited.
Then run the .exe file inside the zip files, one after the other. Pls be sure you are running the one for windows cos in the zip files, you will find software that is particular for Mac OS also.
Make sure you let the process COMPLETE. Failure might lead to damage of your modem

@bayourfar: The flash code is used to change your modem software to the original manufacturers software. wat i mean is making the Glo logo and all the green "disappear" leaving you wit a "Universal modem" look. Ever seen a screenshot of a modem here on NL with the name "Mobile Partner"?That user has flashed his/her modem to make it look that way

@bayourfar: Just put another network sim into the modem and plug it to your system. It will bring up a window for you to input the unlock code. Just type it in and your modem is now open. You can now create network profiles for the differnt sims you want to use on the modem.
