EducationRe: MUST READ : Fattkay's Views On OAU Saga! by Shori(m): 7:17am On Jul 07, 2014
It's called ''diplomacy''! All the school management wanted from the students was the green light to shutting down the school - an inside-school protest and the students fell for it. The increment of the fees is actually not the problem, but the cruel 320% increase is. Even Pythagoras wouldn't have come up with such a figure. . .

Now that we've found ourselves in an impasse, all we can do is ''watch'' and ''pray''. Time is fast ebbing away, but the destiny of many that'll be distorted because of the new fees is now the team's priority.

I must admit that with the quality of our players, beating France sounds like an ''impossible'' thing to do. I really appreciate the effort of the lads during the France game. Mikel's blushes were exposed immediately after Onazi was taken off due to injury, and that cost us... Enyeama was an almagam of the ''hero'' and the ''villain'' but his saves before and after the goals were eye catching! Oshaniwa,Ambrose and Omeruo are a triumvirate of an ''average'' defence, per se. Yobo tried... Yes! He tried but Nigerians, just a few though, may not be able to see beyond his own goal(mistake). Musa was absent throughout the entire match, probably he was among the spectators! Emenike&Osaze were too rigid... Moses couldn't fill Babatunde's shoes...how execrable! Keshi's substitution,Reuben, was short of ideas and tactical approach to the game. . .

Come rain, come shine... I'm flying high with the Eagles! #SuperEagles

Pennywise: Can we be friends? Sharrap. Get out of here go look for your play mate.
Remember everything that has been written here next time u want to brag to a girl that u are a doctor to be. U aint shiet. U will forever remain a dreamer. Stop talking and dont come back.
Look at me thinking I could have a civil convo with supposedly learned professionals not knowing all they want, is to be called doctors while counting tablets. Fraudsters. This is the real world. No amount of strike will help u over this matter. Listen to your senior colleagues.
Pennywise: Where are all the pharmDs on NL and I dont mean students. This is your thread. Come back and let me tell u as it is.

Pennywise: Go bring all your PharmD brothers and sisters. Your skull is so thick it is impervious to rational exchange. I am prepared to employ even more extreme measures and tactics.
If ur IQ was any better you will know there is a difference btw a PharmD and a medical doctor
Congrats. U have just earned yourself a PharmD killer on NL. Watch out. I always deliver on my promise. This will be executed in such a spectacular manner that when you are called PharmD u will feel the stigma like a bee stinging you in a hundred places same time.

Pennywise: I have no wish to burst your bubble. But to all the aspiring pharmD and second rate intellectually bereft pharmacists on this thread who feel they are nothing without a doctor tag I am afraid u will forever remain nothing. U cannot be redeemed.

The NUC will have no choice but to do the right thing. The concession that was extracted in the dark has come to light and a lot of interested parties are going to weigh in this time.

Undergraduate PharmD is an abuse to the doctor tag. If u are a pharmacist who want to be called doctor, get a PHD or a post graduate pharmD. Everybody cannot be a doctor full stop.

A doctor tag cannot clean the rot and intellectual decay among so called pharmacists. The decay that has made them abandon what in other climes is a noble and respectable profession preferring to hire out certificates to illiterates for a fee so that drug stores may be called pharmacies.

I am unaware of any serious drug compounding company local or international that will depend on Nigerian pharmacists. They are brought from without.

Its a pity pharmacy no longer attract the best and brightest but only mediocres as I have seen on this thread. What a shame. Sadly you want to take that same mediocrity to a different profession when u are not fit enough to be pharmacists

A proffessor of pharmacy tries to remove the wool in their eye, but they believe he is doing that bc he doesnt want them to be called 'Dr'. An obvious result of low self esteem.

I just hope and pray that the crowd I have seen here is not a true reflection of today's pharmacists. Your language is poor and unbecoming, grammer is offensive and diction leaves much to be desired.

I wish you luck in your quest to be called doctors.

.
... I hope and pray you quit displaying your tomfoolery on a forum like nairaland or any other social network. Why is it so hard for you to see beyond the ''Dr'' tag thing? It's ''professor'' not 'proffessor' and ''grammar'' not ''grammer''! ...and your punctuation is awful. Work on that lad!
HealthRe: Furore Over Doctor Of Pharmacy Degree In Nigerian Universities. by Shori(m): 2:39pm On Jun 29, 2014
Ndababa: Over here Doctors prescribe, Pharmacists scrutinize the prescriptions for drug reactions, bioavailability, contraindications n whatnot. In the event of possible adjustments, the Pharmacist writes the Doctor to suggest a better alternative since they - The pharmacists - are better aware of information on drugs. Base on the suggestion, the Doctor may adjust his prescription, or gives reasons why he wants the patient to go with his initial prescription. At the end, the patient becomes the major beneficiary of that healthy synergy!

They're called Pharmacists, by the way.

What am I saying? Pharmacy is a crucial field in the field of Health, not minding whether it's B. Pharm or Pharm D. The most important thing is; know your field well--that's the least effort required!
The most sensible reply on this thread so far...

ACM10: Why are you trying to appear clever by latching on one aspect of my comment? Do you think that thorough knowledge of Pharmacology prepares you enough to treat patients? What about Pathology? Can you treat a patient without knowing the pathological basis of the disease? You are picking my points selectively. That's a sign of intellectual weakness.
....and yeah I'm being selective because I can only reply the sensible part of your replies. The parts I discard either doesn't make sense or ...
HealthRe: Furore Over Doctor Of Pharmacy Degree In Nigerian Universities. by Shori(m):
ACM10: Either you are coming from the mars or you are willfully ignorant for you to deny 'mini clinics', 'side labs' and 'blood transfusion' malpractices by the pharmacists. Your colleagues in the trade must be laughing at you. I can give you names of pharmacy shops manned by a trained pharmacists where the above malpractice is the order of the day. In Benue state, some pharmacist are even pushing the envelope further by doing some surgical procedures. Denying the obvious makes you appear dishonest.
Okay. . I'm waiting for the names. Maybe Pluto, because Mars is closer to planet Earth. I've not heard of any case like that in Nigeria. If such a thing happened as you said, atleast the newspapers and TV stations will have a report on it... You can save me the time checking google by giving me links to where I can read the stories about pharmacists running mini-clinics and laboratories....

ACM10: The catchword there is NITTY-GRITTY. Even Physiotherapists/Nurses/Radiographers do study these courses too, but not in details. Does pharmacy students do practicals with cadaver? I mean dissecting cadaver region by region. It is only Anatomy/MedSurg students that does it.
...and now you're telling me Medical students do pharmacology in details more than the pharmacy students? To your question,No.
HealthRe: Furore Over Doctor Of Pharmacy Degree In Nigerian Universities. by Shori(m): 9:14am On Jun 29, 2014
ACM10: For the first time we are on the same side of the debate. grin

It is every paramedics desire to bear the title 'Dr', but none of them wants to pass through the medical school and study the nitty-gritty of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Pathology. I was teaching a Med. Lab student Immunology, he continued to interrupt me, telling me that I was paying attention to details, reminding me that he is not a studying Med/Surg. Explaining further that he only need a general overview of the course to enable him pass exam. Tommorrow, the same guy will rub shoulders with doctors in the hospital.
Tsk! Pharmacy students take Biochemistry,Anatomy,Pharmacology and Physiology with Pathology the only exception. . . Come up with something ''better'' please. . .
HealthRe: Furore Over Doctor Of Pharmacy Degree In Nigerian Universities. by Shori(m):
Pennywise: Going to other well structured countries to import corrupt variants of pharmacy programs cannot help the practice of pharmacy in Nigeria. It will be abused as we have seen. Pharmacies are being turned to mini clinics with 'side labs' on account of 'pharmD' They are even transfusing blood without the slightest hint of diagnosis and treatment of transfusion reactions. This is creating a regulation nightmare in some places.

Real pharmacists should stand up and speak against these lazy treasure hunters in the interest of the profession.

These same people are also in the medical profession hoding on to CMD positions like its their birth right. They have no formal training to head hospitals but from the look of things they might want to take cue from our gold digging pharmacists to legitimize their hold by introducing one or two courses in hospital management.
I..... I'm stupefied! ''mini clinics''? ''side labs''? ''blood transfusion'' in Nigeria? Do you really have to come up with conjectures just to denigrate the pharmacy profession? Where did the transfusion illegally happen? When did it happen? It's not about the ''Dr'' title thing, but meeting up to international standards!
