Buhari Paid TSA Consultants N60 Billion, Not N25B Per Day As Exposed – Nigerian Senate. REMITA is owned by the APC leader Ahmed Tinubu; who is alleged to be acting as a front for President Buhari. REMITA is requested to "remit" back a total of N2.5trn they received as Commission. Paying N6trn a year to REMITA will crash the economy. The main reason for Buhari's 'profit warning', "that Nigeria is broke" The Nigerian Senate have requested the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately terminate the contract awarded to a private firm REMITA for the implementation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s version of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy, which pat REMITA 1% commission for every transaction. The Senate instructed its committees on Finance, Banking and other Financial Institutions, and Public Accounts to carry out a holistic investigation and report back in two weeks, asked the firm to return the sum of N2.5 trillion which has allegedly been collected so far. President Muhammadu Buhari secretly awarded the Company the contract without following the Nigerian banking rules. The Senate had also asked for the prosecution of all members of REMITA’s board of directors according to the provisions of the Bank and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA). Senator Dino Melaye, on his debate on the motion, said that the “Federal Government on 15th of September 2015 mopped up the sum of N2.5 trillion Naira through its e- collection agent, Remita. On his part, the Majority Senate Leader, Ali Ndume expressed surprised at the revelation given that the President assumed office on the back of no- tolerance for corruption campaign. He said: “I didn’t believe that this could happen under this government. However, if it is true, the people involved are saboteurs, and must be compelled to return the money, and face the wrath of the law |
A lot of Nigerians are not too conversant with the TSA thing especially in the light of the revelation by Dino Melaye that Remita collected N25 billion in one day as commission. For now, it is settled that the TSA has come to stay but we need to know how the system operates. Under the TSA, the ministries and parastatals collect revenue through the TSA in any of the commercial banks. These accounts in the various banks are immediately swept into designated accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria using Remita as a payment switch just like the way banks uses Mastercard, Verve, etc. Remita is a software developed by Systemspecs, a Nigerian company that is now operating as a monopoly as a consequence of the compulsory order that came with the full implementation of the TSA. Systemspec markets its Remita software as a one-stop software that addresses all the issues associated with accounting for revenue collection and payments, including payroll. But it is coming at a great cost to the FG. For instance, Systemspecs charges 1.05% for revenue and 1% for payments that pass through its switch. By way of comparism, commercial banks charge COT only on payments/disbursements with rates ranging from N2.5 to N5 per mille. Banks do not charge on revenue. For instance, if an agency collects N1bn in a month and disburses N800m in the same month, Systemspecs would collect the sum of N10.5m and N8m respectively. This commissions taken by Systemspecs through Remita were not budgeted for by the different ministries/parastatals but simply thrust upon them by the policy change. If commercial banks were to play their traditional role for the same transaction, an agency would only pay the COT of between N2m and N4m depending on the agreed COT rate with the customer. The present reality is that money is also being lost through the full implementation of the TSA as it is and we are not sure which is worse, the old order or the new. One would have thought that the FG will negotiate a flat fee rate with Systemspecs instead of allowing that company to collect commission on indeterminate revenue and all other payments that passes through it. The FG can also decide to acquire the Remita software from Systemspecs. This policy of allowing commission payments is not sustainable. |

48noble:You are part of the problems in this country |
I was a guest at a party organized by one of the bigwigs as far as politics is concerned is in the country. We were doing our thing........drinking expensive wines and dancing to music by some of best Nigerian artistes when suddenly a big coaster bus drove into the expansive compound with two police escort vehicles. We were just wondering who the passengers were only to discover that the bus was filled with young girls. The oldest among the girls should not be more than 23....I believe most the girls were sourced from secondary schools. I came to understand that some of the Aides to these big men normally arrange for these young girls on the instructions of there Principals whenever they want to host their friends. The Oga on whose compound we were partying just came out and selected some of the girls and took them inside. He then said to us "Guys pick anyone you like and go enjoy yourselves". I was not able to sleep throughout that nite.....These are men who have daughters of the same age with the ones they are sleeping with. These are men that most young people see as role models. I lost my respect for these so called "elder statesmen" that nite. |
Olisa metuh has said it all......nothing more to add. Only that posterity will judge the brainless idiats who brought the daura braindead du.l.lard to power. We warned them but they never listerned. |
I blame the Daura du.l.lard for this |

Mr "Integrity" only excels in nepotism! He is a big time pretender! 1. Where is Suleiman Ambrosa, the Chairman of the Rivers State Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal from? Answer: He is from Kaduna state. 2. Who is he married to? Answer: He is married to AISHA BUHARI's younger sister. Now you know why Justice Pindigi was hurriedly removed mid-way through the Rivers state gubernatorial election tribunal sitting and replaced with Justice Ambrosa. There is now a flagrant interference with the judiciary in this dispensation. |

dekdek:My brother we are here to learn....a court can be stopped in many ways. A lawyer can file for stay of proceeding, he can file for lack of jurisdictions, he can even ask to be assigned a new judge e.t.c I repeat no one or institution will be served by any court over a matter and the person/institution will go ahead with the matter/process without firstly dealing with the matter in court. |
dekdek:You are the one who really need to learn. The National Assembly as an arm of Govt. doesnt have immunity so it can be prosecuted. |
dekdek:People do secure court orders/injunctions preventing police from arresting and prosecuting them. Is the police not empowered by law to arrest and prosecute? |
