If it was anywhere else but Nigeria I would said what the heck are you talking about but this is Nigeria for you. They gave her the one vote because they figured that people will ask where is her own vote. They know Nigerians well enough to know that the idea that she got only one vote will not make anybody talk for too long. Nigeria deserves the leaders she has. That is all I have to say. When things like this happen is when people should talk but everybody is more interested in laughing and making fun. Injustice and lawlessness is the now normal. It's the little things that count. This is quite an engaging thread. All in all Ironsi was a reluctant head of state.  A well intentioned but very weak man. I would not go as far as blaming everything happening in  Nigeria currently on him like some people are doing.
45 years later, Nigeria is still struggling with the effects of both coups.  45 years later, there is still the same amount of tribalism in Nigerian politics, infact it has become worse.
Isnt it time we started exploring other options Why are we waiting for a miracle to happen?

I think it is pointless blaming any country for  empire biulding. It is the rule of nature that  the strong will always make the weak submissive. History is littered with so many instances ( Egypt,Greek, Roman, Persian, Ottoman, Mongol,etc) .
We need to move on from this blame game,

I think there are vested interests in what is currently happening in Egypt.
The level of Iran's involvement in the current Egypt crisis is debatable, but lets be clear that Ahmedinajad would love nothing more than another powerful Islamic state so close to Israel.
It would indeed be a great loss to America if they lose one of their biggest allies in the Arab world.
