Hmm, what a question! Okay. Anticipating. I mean is it prose or poetry? Or both? |
the problem is not polygamy...the problem is people! A married man will approach a lady...she wont say no! I was disappointed to hear a popular naija actress recently married a man with 2 wives! She could av had any 'single'man she wanted. The monogamous cheat, the single practice serial monogamy or multiple non-commitment, everyone choose the one that suits them... There is nothing wrong with polygamy, everything is wrong with people! |
Since you want to get technical....let go there. ![]() *lol!* According to the Bible....*and the epistle of Mrs. Chima* God didn't say HE was against racism/tribalism.... *'thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself'* God didn't say HE was against stabbing and shooting another human being.. *'thou shalt not kill'* God didn't say HE was against necrophilism..... *Er...are u sure u are using the bible?* *'thou shalt not touch a dead animal, body or discharge....the person is unclean for 7days. Read Leviticus* God didn't say HE was against slavery....*No he didnt. But he mentioned fairness* God didn't say HE was against women wearing revealing clothes/wild hair styles... *Now you are just being petty!* God didn't say HE was against nine years old girls marrying old men God didn't say HE was against wives having male friends and going out on dates with them. *No. He said u shd honour ur husband. If he is against the date, then u shd reconsider.* You get the point..... *NO I DONT!* *U just tried to weaken my arguement by overgeneralizing!* The bible also said that believers should not only follow the laws of the Bible...but also the laws of the land. There are millions of believers breaking laws on both side and justifying it with..."it was the devil that made me do it" ![]() In THE SAME BIBLE...in Genesis...illustrated a MAN leaving his mother and father and cleaved as ONE WITH HIS WIFE....NOT WIVES. Nothing in the Bible speaks about a man leaving his wife to cleaved into another wife. Someone mentioned Abraham had multiple wives...He had two wives and one concubine before he married the third wife that is said to be the Mother of Islam beliefs. Hagar was a servant girl entrusted to Abraham to bore him children because Sarah...the first wife had complications. *But He was not against it!* Speaking of polygamy...according to the Bible...God didn't say HE was against polyandry. *NO he dint!* But why it is harder for men to digest the concept of polyandry since God didn't speak AGAINST the concept of multiple partners but in Ephesians illustrated the concept of LONE WIFE?? The old testament and new testament have different perspectives. Old testament is before coming of Christ whereas the new testament is after the coming of Christ. If you properly research you will see the decline of polygamous relationships in the new testament as disciples encourages the idea of monogamous marriages. *TRUE. Encouraged! Not commanded!! We know the benefits.* The Bible also speaks about defiling the marital bed, adultery, and fornication. *Its not the same!* Since we are being technical....God didn't say HE was against polygamy but spoke of HIS dislikes regarding divorces, homosexuality, and those who practices "black magic. *TRUE*. In Matthews, it spoke about the ownership of man and wife....what if the second wife want attention when it is not her turn because he is husband to the other wife and why shouldn't the wife have to wait her turn since the Bible speaks against defiling...some people believe defiling means bring outside person into the marital bed which can be one aspect of defiling but according to the dictionary.... .... de·file 1 (d-fl) tr.v. de·filed, de·fil·ing, de·files 1. To make filthy or dirty; pollute: defile a river with sewage. 2. To debase the pureness or excellence of; corrupt: a country landscape that was defiled by urban sprawl. 3. To profane or sully (a reputation, for example). 4. To make unclean or unfit for ceremonial use; desecrate: defile a temple. 5. To violate the chastity of. *that....(all those) does not define polygamy* Isn't rejecting a wife's needs and requests violates and debases her? *So, it does not happen with one wife? Dont tell me u always feel like 'it'! That does not mean he/she goes out for it!* Do you think jealousy and resentment is corrupt or natural? Would you support polyandry since God didn't say HE was against polygamy according to the Bible? *That's where the 'man' is the 'head' comes in! If u can be the head of men, why not?!* IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A BIBLE DEBATE WE CAN!!
*U DONT WANT TO!* |
See that is why I suggest people do not bring religion to prove their point. Every religions have agreed there is ONE GOD...now...in the Christian belief...God is against polygamy, the very same God Muslims worships...now in the Koran...it is supported to have multiple wives as long as the husband can support her fully as his other wives. In the Judiasm......polygamy is also forbidden...and they worship the same God Christians and Muslims worship.... Now if every religion is "the correct one" that means there are more than one God. You can't have a God that supports polygamy and against polygamy. But here is the kicker....even in the Koran...adultery and fornication is forbidden. It is also forbidden in the Bible and Torah. Now I understand why Atheism is on the rise! YOU PEOPLE do not even follow YOUR OWN BOOK!
And where was it explicitly stated in the Bible that 'God was against polygamy'?Polygamy is not the same as fornication or adultery. |
NOTHING! As long as u can handle it.. |
