dragonking2:Here is the answer to your question. |
Politics of bitterness and hatred borne out of religion, ethnicity and political inclination has reduced even the most educated and enlightened among us to pettiness! Let us examine what the constitution says about acting president in the absence of the president. Section 145 of Nigerian Constitution states: Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he is proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such functions shall be discharged by the Vice-President as the Acting President. From the stated portion of the 1999 Constitution, the following clear facts can be obtained: 1. There can't be any Acting President without the president transmitting a letter to the Senate and HOR even if the president is on vacation or unavailable to discharge his functions. This was experienced when Yar'Adua refused to transmit such letter and only the Doctrine of Necessity was used to resolve the constitutional hangover; 2. The president is only required to send a letter to the two Houses about his unavailability or absence; 3. The president is not even required to name a name as Acting President or saying his/her VP will act or coordinate. It will be enough if he says "I am going to be away on vacation for two month"; and the VP automatically steps in. 4. Upon his return, the president cannot assume his position without transmitting a similar letter to the two Houses stating that he's now back to resume his duties. In the letter PMB sent to the NASS, he clearly referred to the above stated section 145 of the Constitution. So, what would the FFKs and his fellow wailing soldiers have said if PMB had not mentioned VP in his letter to the Senate and HOR even when absence of such reference would have still duly made the VP the Acting President? PMB remains the only president in the history of Nigeria who has consistently fulfilled the constitutional requirement to transmit letter to the NASS each time he was absent from his position. OBJ went on numerous vacations but he never sent a single letter to the NASS so that Atiku could be Acting President Yar'Adua went on numerous medical vacations including the last one when he was smuggled out of the country, yet not once he transmitted such letter. GEJ never sent a such letter to the NASS so that Samboboribodo could act as the president once. Or he didn't take any vacation during his five years in office? Partisan politics shouldn't make us unreasonable just because PMB is fighting the established looters of which FFK who is a big victim is ready to commit suicide to derail the government. Youths of Nigeria, think. |
What's the difference between"act on my behalf" and "will coordinate govt activities in my absence"? What if he didn't make any reference to the VP but just transmit a letter saying he's going away for medical follow up? Would that mean the VP is not the person to assume his duties? Thy hypocrisy of wailing LiePods stinks to high heavens. The same people who didn't see anything wrong in YarAdua not even sending a letter to the NASS while he was away during his sickness (which was a breach of the constitution) are same people wailing over petty issue. What a set of confused, perpetually bitter, hate-filled low lifes! Modified* The constitution is very clear on the matter - once the president transmits a letter of absence to the NASS, the VP steps in as the Acting President. The president doesn't have to state that in his letter to the NASS. Here is the extract from the constitution: 145. Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives a written declaration that he is proceeding on vacation or that he is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary such functions shall be discharged by the Vice-President as Acting President. |
Silentscreamer:The best actually. No amount of wailing and frustration will change it. |
Explorers:This is no justice. So, these insane beings can possibly walk away as free man and woman after 25 years? Justice is making them pass through same treatment. Or at the least, hang them. |

Hogwash! If any part of the country is really serious about breaking away, they must start through their representatives at the national assembly and their governors speaking with one voice. On what ground should any serious federal government accept Onikuje as the mouthpiece for the Igbos? Secession is not about making empty loud noise about fighting a war even when you know you don't even have a bullet. I am all for breaking Nigeria into many countries but no be the yeye violent way of the terrorist Kanu. Check my signature. |
donmalcolm21:Why are you this pained and bitter? |
Lalasticlala Mynd44 and whoever is capable, please take this to fp bikonu. |
Teacher1776:You're wrong. 1. The govt is in a far better position to contain BH terrorists than it was two years ago 2. The govt has not stopped routing BH terrorists from their strongholds 3. No price is too much to pay to have those girls released. A quick question for you, How much is too much a price to pay to have your kidnapped daughter, sister or mother released from a random kidnapper? |
doublewisdom:Sure, we are far better. It would have been far worse had we not removed the looting bastards we had then. Just think of the several salary arrears being owed by GEJ and the state govts despite the humongous earnings of that oil windfall time before we kicked them out; how dem for cope with oil doom that followed? |
doublewisdom:The usual lame excuse. GEJ had all the tools he needed to rescue them at his disposal but he failed as he always does. He surrounded himself with clueless, greedy, looting, opportunistic persons. Hence he failed woefully despite the initial goodwill and overwhelming support he had. |
If after reading through this and many revelations before this, you still call the Chibok Girls kidnapping a scam, I pray such scam is visited on you and any member of your household. Amen. |
- Cairo Ojougbo, a member of the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP, said he was part of the negotiation team for the release of the Chibok girls - As against the statement of the faction of Ahmed Makarfi, Ojougbo commended Buhari's government for securing the release of the girls The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headed by Ali Modu Sheriff has revealed why it was very difficult for immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan to get the Chibok girls released. NAIJ.com reports that the girls, students in Chibok, Borno state, were abducted by the Boko Haram terrorist group in 2014. The Sheriff’s faction of the PDP said Jonathan’s administration was on the verge of getting the girls released in May 2014 before this move was scuttled by an unnamed Borno state indigene. The acting deputy national chairman of the party, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, who spoke in Abuja, said former President Goodluck Jonathan had raised a negotiation committee to liaise with representatives of the insurgent group. Some of the released Chibok girls According to him, progress was being made until it was scuttled. “When in May 2014 we were to receive these girls, we had already committed every resource available, logistics were made but when we got to the negotiating point, the International Red Cross, myself and lady doctor from the SSS, we were disappointed. “Why were we disappointed? We were disappointed because somebody from within Borno state got wind about the development about the release and scuttled it,” he said. According to him, the faction of the PDP was happy that up to 82 of the girls had been released. “In this country today, there is cause for happiness and jubilation over the release of the 82 Chibok girls. “The PDP welcomes it, the PDP congratulates the president, the armed forces, the embassy and people of Switzerland, especially the International Red Cross, all partners who have worked assiduously for the release of the Chibok girls. “The attention of the party has been drawn to a statement made by the rebel group criticizing aspects of the release of Chibok girls. Let us make it clear that the effort and the battle to release the Chibok girls started a long time ago. “In effect, sometime in May 2014, a consultant of the World Bank visited Nigeria and approached Chief EK Clark and told him that the Chibok girls were alive and they could be rescued. “Chief EK Clark made contact with the then president, Goodluck Jonathan, and he authorized Chief Clark to nominate a trustworthy person to negotiate on behalf of the government and people of Nigeria for the release of the Chibok girls. “Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud today to tell you that I am the one who was nominated to negotiate the release of the Chibok girls.” He continued: “The party that was put together on behalf of the government of Nigeria are the following persons: the then director of SSS, the then Chief of Defence Staff, General Badeh; the Chief Security Officer to Mr President then, and my humble self. “Senator Shehu Sani and a particular businessman and owner of a school in Borno that I cannot call his name for obvious reasons, were the people who contacted the persons to represent Boko Haram. “And we held series of meetings – the International Red Cross, the Embassy of Switzerland, we took these representatives of Boko Haram to the International Red Cross and to the Embassy of Switzerland. READ ALSO: Developing story: 3 dead as religious crisis allegedly ongoing at Kabala junction, Kaduna (photos) “They gave us time, they studied what information we had and they approved it. “Arrangements were made to release the Chibok girls sometimes in May 2014. “Provisions were made, persons were gathered. I went for the meeting for the exchange, conditions were set. The conditions that were set involved the release of the Boko Haram prisoners. “When the Boko Haram representatives met us first, what they told us was that 10 of their malams were arrested in Bauchi when they were praying. “When we took information to the SSS and to then Chief of Defense Staff, General Badhe, they laughed. “They said, no. These people they gave us their names, which I still have till today, they are not malams. They were hard and toughened Boko Haram terrorists. “We took the information to Mr President, Mr President then said: ‘look, whatever it takes to release the Chibok girls,’ any swap that these people demand, I approved it’. Jonathan approved it.” He noted that the swap deal that ensured the release of the girls was initiated by the Jonathan government. “When Jonathan left office, the International Red Cross, the embassy and people of Switzerland, the then ambassador of the Switzerland and the current one continued with the process. “We are very happy that these 82 girls have been released, we are also very concerned about the remaining girls and we urge the federal government to continue this process of negotiations.” https://www.naij.com/1103540-pdp-chieftain-reveals-negotiation-chibok-girls-release-scuttled-jonathan.html?source=notification |

When you read hateful comments, you don't have to check the names behind them to know where they come from. It's like hearing news about arrested/busted drug dealers; you already know where they come from. |
That thing is a terrorist. |

holysainbj:So, a sick person can not get healed? Sickness is a death sentence? Or it has been confirmed his own sickness is permanent? We're talking of the same man that walked elegantly by himself to the plane that took him to London and you're here talking trash. I guess the excessive propaganda churned out by PDP and LiePods is affecting your thinking faculty already. And how did you know my ethnicity, religion or tribe? |
