Dragonking: 11. Football/ soccer:

“Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.” - Leviticus 23:3

God must love football, because most Premier league games and NFL games are played on Saturday and Sunday and he hasn't smote any players yet. According to the Bible, the Sabbath is supposed to be a day of rest and prayer, but most people know it as game day. In addition, american footballs were originally made out of pigskin, which is also banned.

**Hmm, that means the final World cup match between Germany and Argentina last Sunday shouldnt have held according to the bible** sad

Foreign Affairs / Schoolboy Remarries 62-year-old Woman In Mpumalanga, South Africa by silverprince413(m): 4:12pm On Jul 19, 2014
A 9-year-old school boy has tied the knot with
his 62-year-old bride in Ximhungwe,
Mpumalanga, South Africa, to the amazement
of all.

The 9-year-old Saneie Masilela due to ?family
culture?, has decided to remarry his bride, Helen
Shabangu, who has already had five children.

Both families have confirmed their consent to the
wedding, as the formal husband of the bride and
two of her children, aged 28 and 38, have made it
publicly known. They are happy that the couple are
helping with the family ritual, which is meant to
appease the ancestors of their family.

Revealing how they had all taken up the financial
responsibilities of the said wedding, the formal
husband says he is unperturbed about what anyone
says.

The baby groom still has the hopes of remarrying a
girl within his age range in future. However, he says
that he loves his present bride as that was what
made him to take the bold step of marrying Helen.
The bride, who expressed her happiness over the
fact that the boy picked her, told the newsmen that
the boy will continue to live a normal life, as other
boys of his age, and will later get married to a
younger bride, within his age limits. Helen added
that they were both just fulfilling family traditions.

Politics / Nigerian Student Builds Solar-powered Car by silverprince413(m): 4:33pm On Jul 17, 2014
A young Nigerian student doing his last year
in electronic and electrical engineering at
Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has built
a car operating on solar power.

Segun Oyeyiola explains that his car uses both wind
and solar energy for the functioning, The Net
reports. Moreover, the man developed an
application for its installation in the car, which app
will inform the driver about the battery level,
weather conditions and other essential parameters.
In an interview to allAfrica.com Segun spoke about
how he came up with the idea and eventually
embodied it. He confessed his first motivation was
to eradicate the causes of climate change resulting
in fuel combustion.
"In the course of my research, I found out that our
regular cars contribute immensely to climate
change… If we could manufacture cars that do not
use fuel or reduce the number of cars that use fuel;
our world will be a better place for us to live in."

The student had to work and study hard to achieve
his aim, which was even harder because of absence
of electricity most of the time.
Apart from that, the final year student faced other
challenges:
"Asides the lack of electricity, getting the right
materials and text books to study as well as other
needed tools was difficult. But the most prominent
of them was the lack of funds. I started using my
personal funds which I obtained by helping people
to do their projects and a little fund my parents also
contributed towards the project."
He also explained that the resulting model is a
prototype, but not the final look of the car. Segun
hopes to develop his project into a future car for
Nigeria and Africa, as it is created with regard to our
climate.
The young man points out another important
benefit of using his auto – low maintenance cost:
"Everyone likes it and they are willing to start
driving it around town because of its low cost of
maintenance. I developed a simple software that
can be installed on our laptops and smart phones to
tell us the battery level, the weather condition, the
distance we can cover during different weather
conditions and GPS location of the car."

Enthusiastic about his project, Segun says he is not
sure whether he would like to sell the idea to some
entity, he prefers to have the project funded and
continue working on upgrading the auto:
"I would rather they fund me to put together a team
to help me perfect them and make them
commercial."
In conclusion the 30-year-old urged youths to look
for solutions to the global problems and never stop
learning something new.
"And it’s better to start anything we wanted to do
now. Let’s do what will make us happy and that
which will not affect our fellow being negatively."

Politics / Nigerian Troops Capture 80 Machine Guns, 10 Riffles In Bauchi's Darazo Forest by silverprince413(m): 8:19am On Jul 12, 2014
Following continuing mop up operations by men of the security forces inside the Darazo Forest in Bauchi State, which was stormed by troops last weekend, 80 general purpose machine guns and 10 rifles have for far been found and evacuated.

Coordinator of the National Information Centre (NIC) Mr. Mike Omeri gave the details at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday saying “the men and women apprehended in the forest have continued to give useful information on their activities in the forest as well as terrorists activities in different parts of the federation. The mopping up operation continues.”

NIC also confirmed that some army personnel were presently being tried in a court marshal but did not disclose their offences or how many accused were being tried.
There have been media reports on Thursday about
the Nigerian Army court–martialing 18 soldiers involved in an alleged mutiny in May, in which revolting troops opened fire at a car carrying the Commanding General of the Army’s 7 Division in Maiduguri, Borno State.

“It is true that there are court marshals going on in the Nigerian army but I cannot confirm the number of those facing trial. However, at the proper time and as need arises, we will inundate you with the conclusion of the process,” Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu who represented Direcor Defence Information at the briefing told reporters.
On a suggestion that since insurgency is an asymmetrical war, it would have been best for the military to stay aside and allow police men to fight the battle, the NIC disagreed.

“First and foremost, it is not a conventional warfare.
Secondly, it is a new kind of warfare in this country.
Also, if you look at the strength of the police force, in relation to the policing duty they are supposed to carry out to the society, it may not be enough to
confront the insurgency war.
“What we do is this: once we have successfully carried out an operation, the military move along and allow the police to continue with the operation.
That is why we are able to sustain the tempo of the operation so it is not out of place to find that the military is involved in this warfare.
Once we stabilise, we relinquish those areas for the police to take over.
So, it is a joint operation and not that the police is sidelined.
“Everywhere in the world, there is a partnership, collaboration and a convergence of efforts in tackling terrorism.
Examples abound in Israel, United States
of America, Pakistan, and Afghanistan and in so many other parts of the world.
There is always a strong synergy between and among security forces.
The intelligence agencies DSS, police boarder security forces and the military must work together to defeat terrorism and that is exactly what is happening in Nigeria.
We must equally remember that we cannot abdicate out responsibilities to other parts of the country.
We must continue to keep the traffic flowing, we must continue to guide the banks, we must continue to provide surveillance to our critical infrastructure, and we must continue to fight terrorism.
“It’s not just within the security forces that we must have synergy; this is not just a war for the military; it’s not just a war for the security services; it’s not just a war for the police; it’s a war that will require the entire segment of the Nigerian society to tackle”, Colonel Nwachukwu explained.

Sports / Re: Opinion: Africa Should Boycott The Next World Cup by silverprince413(m): 9:24pm On Jul 08, 2014
abatically: WHY AFRICA MUST IMPROVE THEIR FOOTBALL INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING AND LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO BLAME

You guys are quick to blame FIFA for Africa's failure, but fail to tackle the main reason Africa can't win the world cup. The number one reason why we can't win the world cup yet is INDISCIPLINE.

Of the five African teams which qualified to play in the World Cup, three were involved in pay scandals. Players from Cameroon got their protest in before the tournament had even started. They refused to board a plane to Brazil following an argument over money, delaying their arrival by almost a day. Next, Ghana made a laughing stock of itself when it flew $3m in cash to Brazil to avert a match boycott by players demanding their appearance fees. Finally, Nigeria’s Super Eagles cancelled a training session ahead of the crucial knockout round in protest over bonus payments. Presidential intervention was required to settle that argument.

It got worse from there. Ghana’s team fell apart only hours after its cash arrived. Two of its players were sent home, one for an alleged “unprovoked physical attack” on a Football Association (FA) official, and one for reportedly swearing at his coach. Then there were the match-fixing allegations. Cameroon’s football federation says it is investigating claims that seven “bad apples” on its team were involved in fixing the results of games.

Just take a look at this.

Now u talk about FIFA favoring other countries?

A lot of decisions went Africa's way but I will only list a few.

1. Mexico vs Cameroun: Giovani Dos Santos scored 2 legitimate goals that were wrongly ruled out for offside. If that was against an African country it would have been a case study by now. But Mexico moved on, while Africans are still complaining.

2. Mexico vs Cameroun: Giovani Dos Santo's stone wall penalty that wasn't given. Again if that was against an African country we all would be crying by now and blaming FIFA.

3. Mexico vs Cameroun: Alex Song's 2 footed tackle on Dos Santos. Definite red card offence, he didn't even go for the ball. But guess what, he didn't get red. In the match report it stated that Song was lucky not to see red, but if that happened to an African player we all will be saying racism, fifa hates us, bla bla bla just like the case of Matuidi who was lucky not to see red just like Song, but Nigerians always look for someone to blame, so we blame FIFA.

4. Nigeria vs Bosnia: Edin Dzeko's legitimate goal that was ruled out for offside. Now nobody talks about this anymore, but u guys forgot if this goal had stood, we probably wouldn't have made it into the second round. If that was a Nigerian goal, I'm sure hundreds of threads would have been opened describing how FIFA didn't want us to get into the second round.

You talk about Matuidi's tackle on Onazi?
Yes its a bad tackle, but this thing happens in football. Onazi is not the first player to suffer a bad tackle in the world cup, so why the whinning? Again simple tactic by the French coach. Take out Onazi and Matuidi did this

Now ask an African player to take out a player and he did this

The difference between the 2? One went for the ball and missed, 50/50 situation depending on how the ref sees it. The other took out the player blatantly without the ball which leaves the ref with no option than give a red card.

Until we sort out our discipline problems and improve our academies, stop age cheating.. we will never win the world cup. Africa lack real talents when it comes to the big stage. We thrive in youth tournaments because we use over aged players. When it is time for these players to get into the national team, they would be too old and past their best and that is why we Bleep up at the highest level.
