Many thanks for you honest feedback. I was actually looking at landing in Syndey, what do you think about this. It has about same opportunities as Mel on job sites. I have also started applying for jobs. My plan now is to get to the town by March 2021.

You will need to learn CS, it's the building blocks. Not necessarily all CS but basics like algorithm, data structure, etc. Then you can move into any language to solve problems. Popular languages like Python, JS, C#, etc. After gaining confidence in a language, you can move to framworks which enables you to build solutions faster using previously written codes in the chosen language. The final stop will then be a stack, which is a combination of tech framworks and languages. Voilà, you are a developer..

Try many free resources online...youtube, Udacity, Cousera, etc.

hi, pls can you give us the breakdown and step by step process. I’ve read and read and digested the whole process... I’m in dilemma. A DIY explanation would go a long way.

I will try to be brief.
1) You will need to get you English assessment. I did IELTS. Aim to get 8 in all segments.

2) Chose an occupation that matches your supporting documents. For Software Engineer (261313), all required documents are on ACS website. This just shows that you have formal training I.e. certificate and transcript (Bsc in top Federal University or any related Engineering Bsc is better). They also need you to show that you have the right work experience, I.e. payslip, etc.

3) Once you are done with assessment. You are good i'll say. Other factors that will help you is if you spouse has competent English. This would be minimum of 6 in IELTS. Another factor that will help is age. Less than 35 is best.

4) You then put in your documents in the skill-select website and hope you get ITA. The higher the point, the better.

5) Once you are nominated, you will need to do medicals and apply for Visa. This will cost some money so be prepared. I paid about 6kAUD I think...

6) After applying, you just wait till you get an email with a letter saying you are granted. This is where I am now.

Congrats on getting the PR. You are a Software Engineer and your skills are definitely transferrable, anywhere in the world.
I would advice you take the move. Pending when you leave Nigeria, you could begin the application process for jobs there while still looking out for possible remote jobs online.
