staga: I live in Barbados. Went there with the Welcome Stamp last year. That visa is for remote workers. You can't work on the island with it.
Apart from the place being quite expensive (I pay $1000 a month as rent), I can tell you that Barbados is an example of a country that works. Not the shithole we call home. There are Nigerians here, but mostly those who are either married to locals, or students of the various universities here.
Virgin and British Airways operate flights from Lagos to Bridgetown, via London Heathrow Airport. You need a UK transit visa. I processed the whole stuff myself with no single agent involved. I got approved, paid the $3000 for the family version of the visa (issued electronically) and got the UK transit visa with not a single stress. Here, there are no illegals. The transit via London checks that so Nigerians are loved here just as if you are Bajan. Do not forget, most of them are descendants of African slaves who were freed and resettled. Many have Igbo ancestry, including Rihanna who is revered and treated like a goddess here.
Estonia, Croatia, Malta, Seychelles, Dubai and Cape Verde all have versions of this visa and they are cheaper. But for me, the choice was an English speaking country with a large black population so we would not have racism issues. I have not experienced any racism or xenophobia here.
Be careful of all these "i sabi" folks making all kinds of comments here. I did not come here on holiday. I live here now and very much integrated so I can tell you what is on ground. Am yet to get a response from you |

What were the things that caused you to select Barbados as a destination?[/quote]Hmmmm... Actually I am looking for a greener pastures and also don't want to go through the stress of all this visa palava, seeing Barbados as a better option and also a visa free country for Nigerians. What other countries can you advise I migrate to.. and if I may ask do you base in Barbados? |
Travel › Re: Want To Migrate From Nigeria To Barbados by sinto5(op): 9:48pm On Jul 30, 2022 |
1stGenAmerican: All visitors to Barbados are required to have a valid return ticket in order to be allowed into the country at the point of entry. You’re planning on relocating instead of just visiting so what type of stay are you seeking? What attracted you to the country? Because the economy is dependent on tourism, most jobs are in the tourism industry and employ Bajan nationals. I will advise you that Barbados is experiencing immigration challenges, especially with large amounts of Haitian immigrants arriving almost daily. Barbados is a small nation with a limited amount of resources available to the country’s citizens and the large population of newly arrived immigrants is placing a strain on the government as it struggles to provide for its citizens first. The cost of living is relatively expensive and the job prospects are minuscule so unless you have well established ties, it may not be an ideal destination for you. But on the contrary it's still much more better than Nigeria, as when I google search their living, health cost it's more prefered than Nigeria in all areas. Are u saying it's not a better option for me to migrate?? |

Christianity Etc › Re: What Church Did You Attend As A Child &how Did It Impact You While Growing Up? by sinto5(m): 8:08am On Jul 09, 2017 |
Proudlyngwa: Growing up I attended Qua Iboe( now united evangelical ) church orile, but the distance was far from our house at Festac. So whenever we could not go there with our parents, we went to Presbyterian church around the corner. Qua Iboe impacted on me Cox since it was not a regular thing it made me look towards going to church, as that was also an avenue to meet my grand parents who resided at ketu. The service then was fun because of the memory verses we crammed to show off at home, and any time there was a function, intelligent kids were given the opportunity to show case their scriptural brilliance.
pls can i get the Korean message ? The Presbyterian also helped me because we wrote monthly Sunday school exams and nobody wanted to be seen as a failure, also that was the first church I witnessed people being excommunicated (the good old days of christiandom) due to bad behavior, while in Qua Iboe if you came late during prayer or sermon, irrespective of who you were you most stay outside, till something less spiritual starts.
I later went to a boarding house where I was baptized in the Catholic church, I didn't really learn much, but that was one of the most dedicated part of my Christian life, the reverend fathers and sisters were wow and out of this world and really helped me I guidance, I might have been a lost soul if not for them, I am forever grateful to the catholic church for the guidance of my life at a crucial stage of growing up. After school I worked for the synagogue church of all nations and that was where I learnt Life, Prophet T.B Joshua remains an inspiration till today. I learnt life and Christianity from another angle, unfortunately that was the last church I took seriously.
I have since become a non denominational Christian, as I believe Christ is about love and keeping the commandment, I don't want to be associated with any particular church, I want to be associated with Christ like characters, coupled with the fact that I can't stand Hypocrisy and the church this days are filled with hypocrites.
That being said 80% of my Christian spiritual knowledge, is from the teaching of a Korean, his analysis opened my eyes to a different way of seeing the Bible and understanding creation, he made me meditate more, he made me understand that works is equally as important as faith.
But more importantly he made me understand why most people will constantly be misled, because they see omniscience in a different light. |
Christianity Etc › Re: 12 Questions People Ask About The Christian Faith by sinto5(m): 8:03am On Jul 02, 2017 |
ADEWUMIMichael: When it comes to God and Christianity do you have questions? Nearly everyone does–believers and unbelievers alike. Have you ever wished for a concise, understandable response that will satisfy both the mind and the heart?
It is amazing how many times people ask questions that they think no one else has asked and certainly no one has ever answered.
Here you will find the twelve questions most often asked about the Christian faith, and responses to each of them. There are three levels of answers: the return question (which helps get to the heart of the issue), a one-minute response (which is about all the time one has when discussing these questions with others) and, finally, a prolonged response (often with suggested sources if you want to go deeper on that issue).
1. How do you know there is a God?
2. How can there be a God when there is so much evil and suffering in the world?
3. How can you reconcile belief in God with science and especially evolution?
4. How can you trust the Bible?
5. What about all the hypocrites in the church?
6. How do you reconcile God’s sovereignty with man’s freedom?
7. How can a loving God send people to Hell?
8. How can any rational person believe in the Trinity?
9. How do Christians get off saying their religion is the only one?
10. Don’t all religions lead to the same God?
11. What about those who have never heard?
12. Isn’t everything relative?
