If you're trying to think of the richest footballers in the world, it's normal to have your mind immediately flip to the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar or Cristiano Ronaldo – or maybe just a great player playing for a top-class European club.

In reality, it just so happens to be a 20-year-old Leicester City Reserve player, Faiq Bolkiah. The Brunei international is the richest footballer in the world.

The enigmatic young man, the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei, is worth an estimated £15 billion ($20 billion)– blowing the estimated net-worth of Ronaldo, between £200 million and £250 million, out of the water.

Someone might ask: What use is it to have so much money? Essentially, to do whatever you want.

One of the main interests that Bolkiah has is playing football with his pet tiger. His father, Jefri Bolkiah, who owns at least 2,300 cars, is not far behind either because he spent about €14 million on his 50th birthday, according to British sources, when he hired Michael Jackson for a private concert with his family.

The teenage player is currently playing at Leicester City Academy and had come from southern England's AFC Newbury. In 2009, Brunei joined the famous Southampton Academy but they refused to offer him a contract.
Soon afterwards, Arsenal gave him a trial, and he appeared in the Lion City Cup where he scored a goal for them.

He was interested in several clubs but he went to great lengths to sign for Chelsea, who offered him a two-year deal. Yet, Bolkiah left the club to agree on a three-year contract with the Foxes.

Made in Los Angeles, USA, Bolkiah also decided to play his international football with the Brunei national football team.

Full details about Leicester's Bolkiah are scarce, having featured only for their reserve side and never even being named as a replacement in a first-team fixture.

On the official Foxes website, there is little or no detail about the player. Their academy side doesn't even have a roster, though a visit to his Instagram, which is his only official social media page, offers more details.

Bolkiah boasts 122,000 followers, and describes himself as a Leicester professional athlete. He is sponsored by Adidas, according to his profile, and is involved in the squad, posting semi-regular photos of his training with the second string of Leicester.

He also made his full international debut with Brunei, representing his country at the Under-21 and U-23 levels for the first time, as well as the Southeast Asian Games in 2015.

In that tournament, he bagged his first senior international goal, scoring against Timor Leste in a 1–2 defeat, and has since won five more senior caps.

Although he has never made a senior appearance at club level, he has probably already made more money playing for Leicester's reserve sides than Ronaldo and Messi have earned during their entire careers in football.

The brother of the Sultan of Brunei, Bolkiah's uncle, reportedly invested about £7,000,000,000 over 15 years as the director of the Brunei Investment Agency.

It is known that Prince Jefri Bolkiah spent up to £35,000,000 a month on luxury items, such as cars, watches and white gold pens. He boasts a collection of the elite cars, including Bentleys, Ferraris, and Rolls-Royces.

Over the years, Prince Jefri has earned a reputation as a notorious playboy, sharing a large chunk of his luxurious riches with young Faiq Bolkiah, but in fairness to the young Leicester player, he remains modest and keen to concentrate on his football career because of his pure love of sport and not the glamorous lifestyle associated with it.

I don't digest hypocrisy and stupidity... We once blamed a president for his inability to handle massive corruption under his nose because the bulk stops on his table and that was the right thing to do. If the present president is doing worse then we should all join hands and wake him up to his duty and stop looking for how to make him feel it isn't his responsibility. With the allowances and comfort the president and his large family enjoys, a citizen who is normal and thinking right wouldn't take this kind of news without putting pressure on the president. I just had a personal confirmation of this story... What a tragedy. I heard the mother of the siblings is lying unconscious after hearing the news..
CrimeDrunk Driver Crushes Three Siblings, Motorcyclist To Death! In Lagos (Pic) by SirRoberto(op): 8:02am On Jun 12, 2019
The driver of a sachet water producing factory, Ademola Awe, has allegedly crushed three siblings and a motorcyclist to death on Ekundayo Street in the Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The victims were identified as Esther Orimisan, 24; Kofoworola Orimisan, 17; two-year-old Emmanuel Orimisan; and the motorcyclist, Femi Shojedo.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Awe, who was driving a Ford pick-up van with number plate GGE 42 XN around 11pm on Saturday allegedly under the influence of alcohol, had hit another vehicle on his way, but while attempting to escape from the scene, he allegedly drove without the vehicle’s headlights in order to avoid being apprehended.

But tragedy struck when he drove into Ekundayo Street, as Shojedo, who was conveying the siblings to their home on Mosalasi Street, had a head-on collision with Awe’s van at the junction leading into the street.

An eyewitness, Bode Abisoye, said the victims were not aware that the van was coming towards their direction, adding that the tragedy would have been averted if Awe had switched on the headlights of the van.

He stated that Awe attempted to flee from the scene of the accident, but residents gave him a chase until he drove the van into a gutter.

Abisoye said, “He (Awe) scratched a car and was trying to escape, because of the cost of repairing it; in the process, he switched off the truck’s headlights and as he made to enter Ekundayo Street, he rammed into the motorcyclist and the three passengers he was carrying in front of the Model Hospital. We were telling him to come down to rescue the victims but he refused.

“We had to chase him till he drove into a gutter, but we noticed that he was drunk when we approached him. He even refused to alight from the vehicle and if not for the involvement of the police and the neighbourhood security men, he would have escaped.

Aside from the motorcyclist, the three passengers were siblings, two girls and a two-year-old boy. All the victims were still alive when the accident happened, but they later died at the Epe General Hospital due to the severity of the injuries they sustained.”

A close relative of the siblings, who identified himself simply as Ayo, said they were on their way home when the accident occurred, adding that their mother had been informed of the development.

He said, “The motorcyclist usually conveyed them home every night, so on the day of the accident, he went to pick them from their mother’s shop located on Omojole Street. The motorcyclist was about to come onto Ekundayo Street when the driver used the van to kill them. The siblings were close to getting to their house on Mosalasi Street when the accident happened.

"I wonder why he (Awe) would drive at such a late hour without the headlights on; if the headlights were on, the motorcyclist would have seen the vehicle and the accident would have been prevented. The driver works for a sachet water company, and from what I gathered, he has been arrested and is being detained at the Epe Police Station.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said one Shakiru Ajayi informed the police of the accident, adding that Awe had been arrested and the corpses of the victims deposited in the Epe General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Elkana stated, “On Saturday, June 6, 2019, around 11.30pm, one Shakiru Ajayi came to the station and reported that a fatal vehicle and motorcycle accident occurred on Ekundayo Street, Epe. The accident involved a Ford pick-up van with number plate GGE 42 XN, driven by one Ademola Awe, and a Bajaj motorcycle with number plate LSR 99 OG, being operated by one Femi Shojedo.

EducationRe: Most Blind People Are More Brilliant Than Sighted Persons— Chioma Ohakwe by SirRoberto(op):
I wish this could make front page to expose the need to recognise the blind too
EducationMost Blind People Are More Brilliant Than Sighted Persons— Chioma Ohakwe by SirRoberto(op): 8:06am On Oct 21, 2018
What led to the establishment of the Bethesda Home for the Blind?

Bethesda Home for the Blind is a voluntary non-profit organisation set up to give care to physically-challenged persons among us because some of the facilities provided by the government are grossly inadequate. During the (Biafran) civil war, two of my elder brothers were infected with measles which affected their sight. My husband’s sister was also infected with measles and it affected her sight as well. After they graduated from school, the three of them came to live with us because they didn’t get jobs and as time went on, they started bringing their friends over too. Having witnessed all that, I decided to employ a vocational teacher for them so that it would keep them busy. This eventually led me into creating something that would give them hope because being blind is not the end of the world. Rather, there is ability in disability.

What year was the school founded?

The school was founded in 2005 to help in any way possible to fix the problem of visual disability and to help blind people create a niche for themselves. We started with a few students but currently, we have about 126 students and some of them are in various universities. Many of them have graduated and some are working in different places now.

What is the school’s major objective?

The school was established to serve as a centre of excellence in caring, training and aiding blind people to achieve self-reliance, access integration and absence from defensiveness. It was basically to promote the welfare of the blind in Nigeria; to carry out activities aimed at improving sustainability and better standard of living for them. Also, to educate and care for them in a decent environment because there have been cases where families ostracised their children because they were blind.

What was your experience having brothers who were blind?

To me, there is no difference because one has to adapt to any environment one finds oneself and the only way to do that is to accept the situation. As a human being, there is nothing you can do. I accepted them because they are my brothers and I cannot throw them away. I had to be the one to work for the family. Presently, I don’t know the difference between a blind person and a sighted person because I have worked with them for many years. Most of them are even more brilliant than people with their sight because they don’t cheat, neither do they tell lies.

What are some of the achievements the foundation has recorded?

We have several students who have passed through our hands and have graduated from different universities. We have trained proficient musicians who meet global standards. We have successfully trained several students in different crafts who in turn started their own small scale businesses and are doing well. Several students, who were sponsored through the universities, are now gainfully employed in reputable companies in Nigeria and we also absorb some of our students as workers. We have been invited to, and have attended several official events of the Lagos State Government.

How has the foundation impacted the lives of people?

The foundation has impacted on the lives of people by helping them get proper education. Through the foundation, we have sponsored our students to sit for WASSC and UTM examinations and gain admission to the university. Even when they graduate from the university, we still assist them to get jobs. We have an ex-student who currently works with Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company. He still stays with us because we want him to be comfortable, then, marry a wife and rent an apartment so that he can save for himself. We have also operated on four people who regained their sight.

Do you think blindness in common in Nigeria?

The eye is very simple to treat, especially when diseases are detected early. It is only when you don’t detect it early that it becomes blindness which can no longer be corrected. Many blind people today were not taken to the hospital; rather, they were treating themselves with breast milk and all sorts of things which further damaged their eyes. Some people don’t even go to the hospital at all. They rather pray to be healed. That is good but sometimes you have to allow God perform his miracle through a doctor. There was a case of a man who had been at home for about five years without visiting a doctor. When he was brought to our school, we conducted an eye test and discovered that he just had cataract in his eyes and that is very easy to correct. Meanwhile, he had been at home for about five years doing nothing. It is so sad because there are many other cases like this.

How do the visually-impaired students cope in the university
?

They do well because we teach them to be independent. Everything they teach the sighted students is taught here so that when they go out, they won’t have any problem. We also equip them with recorders, walking canes and laptops so that they won’t encounter difficulties.

Do you get spouses for your students?

We arrange marriage for the men though some of them marry their colleagues at work. But before they get married, we see the women first, so that they won’t be deceived by a sweet and calm voice. There have been cases where they married old women because of their voices; meanwhile, some of these women were unable to bear children.

Before setting up the foundation, what were you doing?

I was a fashion designer. However, when I decided to establish the school, I employed someone to stay in my shop and pay me a certain amount of money ass we needed finance; but I thank God.

What are some of the challenges you face?

It is the issue of finance. Because it is not a government establishment, we depend on the goodwill of people and churches which is not always forthcoming. Education for the blind is more expensive than that for a sighted person because they rely heavily on technology and we all know that technology is expensive. Also, many blind people are from poor backgrounds. You would hardly see a blind person whose father drives a car because some of the challenges that made them blind can be traced to poverty. If a rich man notices anything in the eyes of his children, he will quickly take them to the hospital for checks and that is why you see kids wearing glasses at a young age. In all though, we thank God for His mercies and provision.

Are there families that bring their wards to your school or you just pick blind people on the street?

We have a few students who were brought in by their family members but our institution is totally free. As long as you are a student of this school, you don’t pay any money. Majority of our students are orphans and some of them have been abandoned by their parents. For some of them, this place is their home.

Do you get support from the government?

No, the government doesn’t support us but we have been writing letters to them. However, we get support from individuals. Meanwhile, the chairman of the Surulere Local Government Area, Mr. Tajudeen Ajide, gave us the building that we presently occupy. But in terms of feeding and renovation of the compound, we did it ourselves.

Which schools did you attend?

I attended Community Secondary School, Obeleagwu, Enugu State.

How did you meet your husband?

We met in a very funny circumstance. We met on the road where we were both taking our blind siblings to school and that was it.

How do you like to dress?

I dress in corporate attire, except I have an occasion to attend.
