A Christian role model spotted as SA Education Monitoring hits the ground running ~ says Pastor Umo Eno is a loving, caring father to every Akwa Ibom child.

In accordance with the Arise Agenda of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno PhD

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Education Monitoring: Pastor Ekponobong Moswill Umoh today, Monday, May 5 ,2025 monitored schools in his native Ukanafun to confirm the age long adage; "charity begins at home."

On his first visit to Government (Model) Primary School, Ikot Oku Usung, Ukanafun, the SA while addressing the teachers and learners told them that the Governor wants them to be the Best, pointing to the freshly built and completed Model school with staff quarters.

"The Governor of Akwa Ibom State is a loving and caring father. He wants you to be the best. Look at your environment. Can you not feel the peaceful ambience? Come to school everyday. Do not select days to come to school."

The head teacher, Mrs Ofonasaha Archibong Udoide thanked the SA for the visit. She also appreciated the Governor for the remodelling of the school. Like Oliver Twist, she made a few more requests to which the SA said that they have been provided for in the new structures built by His Excellency the Governor.

At Afaha High School, Northern Afaha Clan, the SA personally escorted students found in their uniforms on the street back to the school compound. In his friendly and peaceful mein, the SA admonished the students to take their studies seriously. He went on to remind them of the governor's love for them. He promised the learners that the Governor will do more for them if they reciprocate the Governor's care with excellence.
Using the laundry robe concept, the SA explained success to both the learners and their teachers.

"For a laundry robe to dry clothes, it has to be tied to two points. One of the points is the government's interventions in which His Excellency the Governor has provided for prompt payment of teacher's salaries, infrastructure development, payment for your WASSCE fees and the teacher's efforts. The other end of the rope is for you student to take your studies seriously, form good character, and remain obedient to your teachers, parents and the government of Pastor Umo Eno."

The Senior prefect of the school thanked the SA and his team for the timely visit. He promised to put to practice all the lessons learnt from the SA's words of encouragement. He prayed God to bless and sustain his Excellency the Governor.

On his part, the principal of Afaha High School, Mr Nsikak Udo Iyire commended the Governor through the SA for his giant strides. He confessed that it was his first time as a principal to be visited by a government official. He listed many areas of needs. He requested that the listening Governor will order the posting of more teachers to aid his learner's continued independence.

At WASCO (West Annang Secondary Commercial School), the SA was received and led in a tour of the school by the principal, Pastor Udeme Henry Akpan. During the tour of the school, the principal heaped praises on RT Hon Unyime Idem for giving the school a working computer laboratory, constant power supply and two buildings. The Pastor principal named just one challenge. Which is the perimeter fencing of WASCO. His faith as captured in his voice suggests that His Excellency the Governor will do it immediately.

Addressing the teachers and learners, the SA said;" Education is the ladder one uses to climb to his desired height. We should all thank His Excellency the Governor for paying for your WASSCE fees. People who want to succeed do not just sleep and wake up. They play a role. Your role in this is to study. If you pass an examination with people's help, you are owing yourself. Try to be independent. It is the Governor's desire for you to do well and make Akwa Ibom State proud. Whatever you want to be, starts now.

Highpoint of the monitoring came when the SA made a brief stop to pray with his team in the DOMINION CATHEDRAL of Rapture Trust Gospel Ministry at Ikot Akpan Nkuk in Ukanafun.

In his team were Pastor NdianAbasi Ezekiel of the Ministry of Education and other prominent education consultants.
