Hi guys, Just wondering, what is the maximum no of weeks of pregnancy one can risk flying to the US (e.g. 13 hrs) |
@ PrinceAdeAde Congrats!!! Am so happy for you and your wife... I tap into your blessing and testimony. Congrats again |
@ PrinceAdeAde, Countdown to PrinceAdeAde's interview tomorrow. You shall testify IJN. The God that did it for BJ2012golf and other nairalanders will do it for your family IJN. Amen. There was a guy that asked how he could get a closer visa appointment for his wife. You just need to monitor available dates 24/7 on the booking website, you will definitely find a closer and more suitable date. Anyone that has been refused in the last six months is not eligible for expedited appointment. Regards, |
Hello VO, Wishing you and everyone on this forum a prosperous new year. Question 1 ------------- Please i understand that Nigerians that apply for US visas are usually given 2 year multiple visas. But in my case i was given a 1 year multiple visa which i find strange. Kindly explain the possible reasons for issuing out a one year visa to a nigerian that applied from Nigeria. Although my passport was supposed to expire in one year, can that be the reason? Question 2 ------------ Kindly clarify if i can apply for expedited visa appointment? I was denied a B2 visa on Dec 1, 2014. This is because if i wait for the next available date i would have exceeded 36 weeks for air travel for pregnant women. Thanks in advance for your response. |
@PrinceAdeAde, Any update on ur wife's visa? |
@BJ2012golf, All the best. I cant wait to hear your testimony. Regards, |
acube2002:You can research on emergency appointment booking with the US Embassy, think you need to meet certain criteria to qualify for this or u pick d first available date which is mid or end of January while u look for a better option. |

Big congratulations to mummy Phema. God bless u and ur family. The comfort in giving birth in obodo cannot be compared to our dear 9ja. PrinceAdeAde and Bj2015, how far, any update? |
hopefulme:Hello Hopefulme, Congrats on your visa. Was your interview in Lagos or Abuja and did you wait 90 days before re-applying? Am considering re-applying for the third time in Lagos, can't go to Abuja cos my tommy is huge and can't wait 90 days either no time again. Thanks in advance for your response. |
bj2012golf:Goodluck and all the best.... Will follow up to know the outcome. Greetings to your wife |
PrinceAdeAde:hi, My first denial was b1/b2. Second was B2. pediatrician, anaesthetic, laboratory test fees were not included in the quote from my oby/gyn. My budget covered other stuffs asides from those you outlined above such as; pediatrician, anaesthetic, laboratory test fees, baby shopping, transportation, personal shopping, shipping cost, winter clothing, etc. She dint raise any issue on that. Just relax and pray wella. If they wanna give you visa dey won't stress u with irrelevant stuffs like that. |
@PrinceAdeAde; I reapplied alone for a B2 visa and was interviewed yesterday (Dec 1). See interview transcript below: Reason of travel: Child birth Name of your doctor and correspondence: Gave her letter of responsibility, doctor's appointment, estimated cost How much do you earn monthly; I said about 450k but it varies from 330 to 450 depending on allowances and subsidies and I filled 330 on my form Requested for my account statement: I reminded her that my husband was paying for the trip and gave her my statement and his as well I offered to give her letter of sponsorship from my husband but she declined I gave her my budget sheet which was about 2.7 million naira She complained that my estimated cost was low and she understands that delivery bills are above $10,000 and mine was about $5,000. I explained that i had been given a 40% discount for paying cash upfront and that was the same amount i paid for my first son's delivery I also offered to show her estimated cost from other hospitals in the same state which she declined. I noticed that she did not ask any question about my husband She also asked the reason I gave for travelling in August and I said "visit this year and child delivery next year"; but she said she can only see visit on the system. She kept glancing at the wall and typing as if she was typing word for word the content of my letter of responsibility and she kept looking at the account statements, flippin thru, going back. i was even beginning to fink maybe she dint know where to check closing balance. I was denied again according to the same section 214B At this point i was frustrated so i jst tld her that I was denied earlier and they cited section 214b which i researched and based this new application on my findings so she should advise on what to do next. She looked a bit concerned like she wanted to say more but finally said dere re various aspects to 214b and she is not allowed to give speciifc reasons of denial. And that she looked at my application as a whole (the old + new) to decide and not just this present one. I fink i will free ds US visa for now. After delivery, will get UK visa den try US visa late next year or 2016. Hopefully, will get a 2 year visa. when am pregnant in the future will do dropbox, send template letter and off i go. Goodluck to you and your wifey. Keep us updated |
Hello VO, I applied for a b1/b2 visa in March 2013 when I was 2 months pregnant and single but was not asked if i was pregnant. I did not have the intention to deliver in the US as at the time of application. I was given a 1 year b1/b2 visa. I travelled to the US with my whole family (mother and 2 brothers) August 2013. All questions were directed to my brother and he said we came for family vacation/tourism. I was heavily pregnant but was not asked any question as my brother answered for the whole family. I had my son and paid all my hospital bills in 2013. I got married to the father of my baby March 2014 and applied for a new visa August 2014 with my husband and included that our son would be travelling with us and was denied according to section 214b. The interview was as follows: The VO asked why our son was not applying for visa and I explained that he was a US citizen and dint need a visa. He requested to see my hospital receipts which i gave him. He asked where I and my husband work, we both work in the same company Asked when we got married, answered March this year Reason of travelling: Visit this year and child delivery next year (trying to be very truthful) We were denied and given a blue papar referring us to section 214b I reapplied alone for a B2 visa and was interviewed yesterday (Dec 1). The interview as as follow: Reason of travel: Child birth Name of your doctor and correspondence: Gave her letter of responsibility, doctor's appointment, estimated cost How much do you earn monthly; I said about 450k but it varies from 330 to 450 depending on allowances and subsidies and I filled 330 on my form Requested for my account statement: I reminded her that my husband was paying for the trip and gave her my statement and his as well I offered to give her letter of sponsorship from my husband but she declined I gave her my budget sheet which was about 2.7 million naira She complained that my estimated cost was low and she understands that delivery bills are above $10,000 and mine was about $5,000. I was denied again according to the same section 214B It will be good to have an idea of what i can do better to be eligible next time. I understand that my first visa covers medical as well. Am just wondering if i have been denied because i never informed the embassy when i changed plans and decided to delliver in the US instead of visiting. Please assist. |
bj2012golf:Hi bj2012golf, I mentioned the same thing yesterday. The female VO that interviewed me said she understands that delivery charges are around 10,000 dollars and above. I responded that my quote had been discounted by 40% for self pay patients as I was paying cash upfront. I even offered to show her other cost estimates from other hospitals in the same state which she declined. A pregnant lady that was interviewed by another VO got her visa approved. So dunno... Was it a black lady that interviewed you too? So what do you intend to do now. Please let me know so i can adopt it or we can plan together. Regards, |
@ Tvegas, Thanks for your response. I actually read your post to my enquiry. Thanks everyone for your encouragement. God bless. I just might try for the third time *still thinking* Meanyle I heard that Canadian visa is a loooong thing as it takes up to 45 days and they are very strict on pregnant women, so thats a no-go area. Kindly share the contact details of any good immigration lawyer (if you kno any). Want a lawyer to help investigate the reason for denial so i can address it in my next application. Good luck to everyone in this american race dream |
bj2012golf:Goodluck tomorrow. Please let me know the outcome so i can determine whether to re-apply disregarding the 90 day period. I am also considering getting an immigration lawyer to find out the particular reason of denial. All the best again. You shall testify IJN. Amen |
Hi guys, Sadly, I was denied again today though i went with the famous burden of proof and fulfilled the 90 day window period. I noted two important things: you must leave a window period of 90 days before re-applying after a refusal and it seems the VOs wanna see quotes that are above $6,000 as they believe hospitals charge far more than that. To other people still trying to get visas, Goodluck and all the best. If u were previously denied based on section 214b, check out this link http://visarefusal.com/214b/ for preparation. Please if you have any information on processing canadian visa, kindly holla |
Jomikish:Hello Jomikish, Was your interview in Lagos or Abuja? |
@ BJ2012golf, Do you have another child? The blue paper 214b refers to inability to show strong ties to home country. Did u show her your budget which should include miscellanous for unplanned expenses. I think your wife should apply alone this time or with ur MIL. Another alternative is to get several quotes from other doctors within/below the same range to prove that the amount is not too low as other hospitals charge about same price. Also, try and leave a window period before your next inteview so u dnt appear desperate. Lastly, fast and pray for favour. Goodluck in your next interview. |
Jomikish:Hi Jomikish, Congrats on ur visa, kindly share a transcript of your interview Thanks in advance |
zeezahbee:You cannot edit a submitted ds 160 form, u can retrieve it and update which will generate another ds-160 confirmation number. The issue is that the new confirmation number will be different from that on your profile and appointment letter. To edit one's profile is the issue. I sent an email and got response as follows: Hello Sir/Ma, I have booked an appointment with my Ds-160 confirmation number (xxxxx). However, I just realised that I filled in a lower monthly income (net monthly income) instead of gross monthly income. Please advice on how I can update the information on my application without resheduling my interview appointment. I understand that updating my application will generate a new Ds-160 confirmation number that will be different from that on my appointment letter. I got a notification mail saying from Dec 1, 2014, applicants that do not have the correct DS-160 number on their appointment letter will be turned back. Please advise on what to do as my interview is xxxxx. Regards, xxxxx ***RESPONSE*** Dear XXXXX, Thank you for writing to the U.S. Visa Service Desk. With regards to your query, please note that you will not be able to retrieve and modify information in the DS160 application once it is completed. If you wish to correct and/or update information, please disregard the old DS160 application and create a new application, then bring the new DS160 confirmation page at the time of interview. You can access the DS160 form in the website https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ If you created a new DS160 application with existing appointment, you do not need to cancel their appointment and/or update the DS160 confirmation number in your appointment profile. Just follow the instructions provided above. Please make sure that the DS-160 barcode number in your profile on www.ustraveldocs.com matches with the barcode number on your DS-160 documents. The Consulate will not permit you to enter or be interviewed, and you will be responsible for rescheduling your appointment on another day, if they do not match. Yours sincerely, U.S. Visa Service Desk. **END****** Their response is very confusing. I don't know if it is possible to send the new confirmation number to the support desk to update one's profile and appointment letter. |
SisiOlu:Gurus in the house, biko help a sister |
Hello All, I want to update my ds-160 application form and i understand that a new confirmation number will be generated which will now be different from that on my appointment letter. With this new mail the US embassy sent out recently that the ds 160 confirmation number must match that on the appointment letter. How can I go about updating my profile with the new confirmation number. I have sent mails to their support desk but their instructions are not clear. Please advice |
Fourlar:Seems like d VOs truly have a schedule of income capabilities on their walls. 3 applications within a year is a lot. You need to really chill out before applying again (@ least 3 months). Fill ur form truthfully. It's possible for someone to change jobs so it's okay for you to have a business now and no longer work with FRSC. I think financial capacity was the main issue in ur first 2 interviews: 1.2M is not enough for a family of 4 (ticket, feeding, transportation, shopping, miscellanous, etc). Please refer to Pherma's burden of proof and include the following amongst others, stmt of acct wt enough balance dt also shows inflows and outflows from ur business, receipts nd documents of ur biz, evidence of properties (if any), letter heads with your business name, etc. An agent once adviced me to deny being pregnant at my interview, 10k God I was never asked the question. @Pherma, Tvegas and co. over to you... |
Fourlar:Hello dear, These so called agents can totally mess someone up. Firstly, u need to wait till after 3 months from ur last refusal to apply again. Secondly, i think you should apply alone this time and fill your form truthfully. Also, u can provide transcripts of ur last 2 interviews for people to dissect and provide feedback. Lastly, get ur burden of proof as Pherma advised and pray for favor 'cos these VOs can decide without even going thru the burden of proof. Good luck in your next application. |
@ raii, on another thought, how far along will you be in the next 3 months.... am finkin if u cn try again after 3 months, book ur flite for the 4th day afta ur interview.. I don't have any info on Canada but u cn try that as well. Please don't give up. At least u'll know that u tried ur best. Regards, |
raii:Am soo sorry bout the denial. I can imagine how u feel right now. Infact i dnt kno wot 2 say bt am sending u a very big, tite, get better hug nd kisses. God has better plans for you and your family. In ur spare time (much later) u can share ur interview experience. |
There was a time people used to say travelling with BA when preg was risky. There were soo many stories of how they sent pregnant women back or revoked US visas by calling US embassy at the airport or in the UK during transit. I have always tot to avoid BA but seems like fins ve changed and a lot of preggies are travelling wt them. I stand corrected |
Tvegas: Ma'am I may not be able to fully explain the VO's mind but some facts don't connect in your application.Thank you very much Tvegas. You've provided useful insight, guess I didn't see the interview in the light you did. I got my first visa without the intention to give birth as I decided much later after I had the visa. I got married to my fiance after our first child. To apply on medical grounds, do I have to fill medical reasons in my ds-160 form and also get a letter from my Nigerian hospital? I am worried that the next VO will ask me why I did not apply on medical grounds the first time I was denied. Once again, thank you very much for your response. Still look forward to hearing from other people as well. |
Hello All, Its nice to be back here again after so long. I had my first child in the US. I went on a B1/B2 visa class and said i was going on vacation at the interview because I hadn't thought about going to deliver in the US. Fast forward to this year, I went to renew my 1 year visa and I was denied *sadface*. Infact, I am still in shock. I applied this time with my husband who has never traveled to the US but has traveled to South Africa. We told the interviewer we want to go on vacation in September and then to have a baby next year. The interviewer asked the following questions: Q: Have you had a valid visa? A: Yes and I showed him my old passport Q: When did you get married? A: This year gave him specific date Q: Where do you and your husband work? A: told him Q: Do you have a child? A: Yes Q: Why are you not applying for a US visa for him? A: Because he is a US citizen Q: He requested to see receipts for my first baby's delivery A: I showed him all Q: What state are you going to stay? A: told him Next thing he says is unfortunately your visa has been denied *bla bla*. Am thinking of re-applying on maybe medical grounds alone without my husband and saying am travelling with my mum who has a valid US visa. I am confused and need your suggestions and recommendations. Thanks in advance. |
Hi guys, this thread has been very helpful. I had my baby in Chicago for total of 5500 (3000 for hospital and 1500 for antenatal n delivery). It was ata discounted rate for Self-pay Package I had a fantastic experience - antenatal, delivery, baby shopping, e.t.c. I used an agent who hooked me up with an apartment, cab guy dt gave me many discounts, shipper, rite places to shop for baby, food, e.t.c @ cool prices; tourist attractions. I had a wonderful experience in all @ a discounted price. For more details snd me an email on fayo2k2@yahoo.com |
